Motorola HT820...... settings - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

I have the HT820s, but they are not working so great at the moment.
They have worked exactly twice so far, and the settings and ROM were different both times yet the same settings also don`t work most of the time.
I was wondering if you also owned these headphones, if you could list your ROM and config settings.
There seems to be no ryhme or reason to wether or not they work, i have looked on all the threads for all the different ROMs and and there dosen`t seem to be any pattern at all to it.
mine are as follows
Bitpool = 58
Maxbitpool = 128
These are the settings i had when i had some small success, and no success at all......

Hi m8,
I have the same Moto HT 820 and to say they're temperamental would be an understatement......... there are quite a few of us here with the same headset and once you get them working they're great!
I've been using them all day today at the office without a single skip, pause or lockup. Reconnecting to the Uni works fine too.
No more issues with my Moto!
Unfortunately for you I'm using my latest build, due for release on the 1st Novemeber!
The problem is not the reg settings it's the stack on the Uni itself.
Only two more weeks and the Rom will be out.
Cheers,
Beasty

No need to picture it, I was doing it myself for a whole week!
(although for the humour facrtor and some comic relief you could upload a few pics for us all)
Not long to go though.................
Could you tell me the firmware revision of your headset.........it's inside the headband.......... mine is SYN0948D.
Cheers,

I have the same headset, they work a treat.
After pairing the headset it started working perfectly.

Hi Beasty,
I was ready to put some pics of my bald head, but was advised to wait until at least some grows back!
One of the HT820 I own is : SYN0948A.
The second HT820 is all smudged up and your guess is as good as mine.
As I have mentioned to you earlier, since they are not genuine therefore I cannot flash the ROM for the upgrade!
Thanks,
KOR!

SYN0948E for me, i looked thru the threads and i don`t think mine can be updated......

Hi,
If I recall the procedure correctly from memory, you should power off the headphones, connect to your pc with the USB cable, hold down both track control buttons, and power the device on.
If the bluetooth leds stay on I believe that means the device is in flash mode......... I also believe that what I read on the forums, is that the "hookie" headsets do not support this mode at all.
Davieshyland, where did you purchase your headset from?
Cheers,
Beasty

Powered off, connected usb and then pressed both track buttons....... both LEDs started to flash at 1 second intervals. Which i believe is the correct way. I already looked into flashing/updating the firmware for the headphones, tought maybe this could solve my problems, but i think its only the A,B and Cs that can be updated.
I got them from ebay, but not a seller in Hongkong, it was some bloke in Manchester, England

Switched to JWrights 20202, someone said that was the best ROM for BT sound....
Had the same problem..... no sound after 1 second.
But..... while reading thru the 500+ posts i came across a two line post saying, in affect, 1st, pair your headphones, then turn your headphones off, then back on, wait for uni to find them automatically, and you should now have no problems.
This actually worked for me with this ROM, i am going to upgrade to his latest ROM tonight. Its now nearly 5 in the morning (AM ) i`m only up because of a Diabetic low (time for a cookie and a quick post) and now i`m going back to bed.

Holux GR 230 Bluetooth GPS on XDA2

I have just been following all the developments with the Bluetoth Stack Problems etc, after actually I had Ordered the Holux BT GPS Receiver.
I am still awaiting delivery, but after reading the last thread under GPS/Bluetooth got a bot dissappointed as a lot of people seem to have problems with the Reception.
I actually did some research before ordering and the reviews were promising. So in real life, what are the problems with the actual GPS itsself and how is the reception?
Even though I haven't tried Towas BT Fix, but I must congratulate as it seems very impressive the job he has done. I have downloaded all is required in terms of software fixes.
Please share your experiences with the Holux BT GPS and if anyone likes to do a preview perhaps?
I've already posted my comments in another thread but to summarise - it doesn't work ver well at all. I've used a Navman/iPaq combo - worked quite well, a Nokia LAM1/9210 - worked surprisingly well too, then a CF GPS in an Axim - worked extremely well, then this Holux device with an XDA II - the worst so far, by far. I'm assuming that the problem isn't with the XDA II as it uses a 400 mhz xScale 263 cpu which should be more than sufficient. I had read that these things would pick up a decent signal from within a rucksack or pocket, and indoors from a few feet from a window, but not in my case.
I can't wait to see what other peoples experiences are.
Ged.
How did you get the holux to work with xda2, I am having no luck with it.
I just installed towas patch, when I chose the holux it allowed me to assign a serial port "com4 chosen" this then appeared under gps in tomtom, works great and the headset works at same time, it did prevent me synching via bluetooth which was working fine before, but that is no hardship as I am unlikely to be synching by bluetooth while running tomtom.
P.s. I tried changing com ports for the gps but it didnt help so I removed my bluetooth desktop pc bluetooth profile, went to settings/bluetooth, told it to sync by bluetooth, it searched for and found my pc bluetooth dongle, when I click finish Towas patch pops up, I selected activesync and it now all works, the guys a genius with programming.
Got my Holux working too
Even though I was very nervous about the Holux, it has proved for me working very well, but it did take a bit to get things working.
At first, I removed all bluetooth devices, then installed Towas' Patch and then added the BT Devices (Holux + HBH-65). The HBH-65 worked well all the time, but once I loaded the Holux supplied software GPSviewer, it kept crashing and froze or it automatically kept rebooting. Tried all different ports but no success.
Finally, I had to Hard-Reset the XDA2 and then first install Towas's BT Patch before pairing any devices or installing any applications. Then I tried some third party software and finally Mapopolis and saw it working perfectly (COM 5, 9600). For some reason, GPSviewer is not compatible with either the XDA2 or Towas's Patch at any setting.
The Positioning is very good and usually have 8 sats locked out of 10 visible. I saw the device to be very accurate, perhaps to about 1-2 metres on Mapopolis. I even get around 3-4 Sats locked when I am indoors (thats either on the top floor or near a window. First time to fix is always around 30secs and hotstart seems immediate to me. The only matter which has got to me was that while driving, the positioning seemed to be lagging behind and Mapopolis came up with streets which just passed. I am also quite pissed off with the male voice of mapopolis as it sounds awful. I have now ordered TomTom V.2 and will keep u guys posted how that goes.
PS: The BT Handset works well at the same time as the GPS, but still missing the Handsfree BT Profile.
Anyone any update about O2 (UK) ROM Update?
I found no lag with Tomtom2, it was on the button and extremely accurate, does anybody know if the battery can be swapped out of this unit in the event of a failure once warrany is out?
I would think so. I took mine apart to see what was inside and it's very similar to one that you'd find in a cordless phone. Nothing special really and there are lots of companies out there that supply custom or specialist batteries.

i take it ur talking about the prolems "when you change the baud rate on the GR-230, it would lose communication via Bluetooth"?
if so the review on pocketgps.co.uk for the unit is quite good. its available @
http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/holuxgr230.php
but it explains that its a firmware prob with units shipped B4 Dec 03, which can B fixed.
Hope this helps. ive just ordered 1 myself, £95 off ebay, will do nicely if it works, i shall let ya'll know.

hp 614c?

hello,
does anyone has the hp 614c?
can give some data of it? its a good phone? how does it works? the sound is loud?
HP 614c
I got mine through work and do not like it. The phone itself is nice. AGPS works very well and the device is nice and quick but the battery is not good. i have just the phone and bluetooth running and using it as a phone got about 6 hours if lucky. Sound is rubbish.
I would not purchase one on a personal note
Thanks

Going by the different reviews I have read I will not go for it. I have the following reservations based on the reviews of course:
The external speaker volume is said to be very low.
The navigation wheel is a bit tricky. While pressing the number keys you inadvertently hit on it. I would have preferred a normal D-Pad and a scroll wheel.
Regards
I was very surprised by how large it was.
Tracy and Matt's blog has good pictures and video. Its larger then the TyTN II and almost as thick.
I still am waiting for the 914 personally.
seems to have some problem for now, expecially for data connection, rom instability and battery. It's a very young phone, I suggest you to wait a bit and see if this issue will be fixed

Never had any issue on that
About the scrollwheel : when you need to dial a number or anything , you open the phone app by pressing the green button, and the scrollwheel is automaticly disabled....
I use it now for almost a month without any problem whatsoever. What I did remark is that most of the reviews are made by ppl that actualy don't USE the phone. If you check the link I provided higher in this thread, you'll learn much more about that machine, then by just reading that kind of reviews.
Cheers anyway,
Dirk

The 914 is even larger. It's a good phone (so far) but I get the impression there's ppl are longing for something that is not workable anymore. A smaller phone will have a smaller screen, which renders its useability to zero. Unless you like to put your phone under a microscope to read the display.

I now have mine on order at Clove. Wish any of the users could answer my earlier queries. How is the external speaker volume? Can the touch scroll wheel be used for doing what a conventional D-Pad can do?
Thanks and Regards

I bought one online last month in the UK, just in time to get 50 pounds cashback. Bt excited to have it delivered, but all the remaining feeling two weeks later is disappointment.
1, the smart wheel is nice, but no "Enter" key be defined, its original separate enter key is way inconvenient to press. even for the left side "scroll" wheel, you will find it difficult to press "enter".
2, the keyboard is not well designed because you will find it's not easy to hit the key you want, ofter mistakes
3, battery life, shorter than 1590mAh battery should be, under normal usages, only last for one day or more
4, the speaker is very small and weak. perhaps you may change HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone\Vol, from the default 6666(HEX)to 8888 for example, it seems better on my own
5, system unstable, often freeze and have to soft reset, especially when you installed a couple of softwares.

Orbit2 or HTC Touch Cruise P3650?

Is eny different between this two phone? I read that have many problems with orbit2, is the same with Touch cruise, same problems? Now i have o2 orbit and thinking to buy orbit2 or cruise, but i m little sceptical, becouse of problems..
Thanke you!
Nobody knows?
Is any test between these to phones on net?
Thanks!
IMHO the o2 has a better form factor...it's more rounded...
but other than that, i'm pretty sure its 100% the same exact hardware on the inside...and as a touch cruise owner, i can tell you it's a lag ridden slow ass POS..return it while u still can, cause drivers aren't coming any time soon

Don't take that for gospel. I have owned many PPC's going back to 2000 and i can tell you from my experience, the TC performs just fine in day-to-day operation. As a matter of fact, it performs much better than my last 2 devices, a Treo 750 and the KJAM.
1. Wi-Fi
2. BT
3. Front earphone
4. Radio
5. Bad painting
6. Shutting down suddenly
Are these problems have only orbit2 or both?

I have no such "problems" with my TC. However, if you want to nitpick, the FM antenna is not very strong so there can be interference if used in a place like a metropolitan city.
Other than that, I have not had any problems.
4.) bad painting
all the time...all you have to do is be viewing a web site in whatever browser and press the phone key. Depending on what other applications you have open, and how much ram you are using, it can take up to 1-5 seconds to fully "paint" the dialpad on the screen, piece by piece.
If you are scrolling through anything, lets say the programs menu, or a website, the screen flickers, and lags.
I can remember back about 15 years ago, to my first desktop PC...it was a pentium 133 MHZ, with an ATI 3d card that had 8MB of ram I believe, and it ran windows 3.11 for workgroups, and then windows 95.
Lets just say even that comp (if it were still put together) could out do the touch cruise graphics wise.
As for the other problems you are describing, I have not had any issues with those. For the most part, it's just the graphics \ user interface stuff and lack of proper video drivers.
The actual radio hardware is fine.
If i were you, I would wait until all the issues are worked out before you spend alot of money on a handheld..unless you really need it. I'm actually thinking of selling my touch cruise and getting an Atom V.
both are same inside, but i'm on my 3rd O2 Orbit 2 due to cosmetics, i get the feeling the new 'stylised' case for the Orbit 2 is rushed, as all 3 have gaps, off centre screen and now my 3rd one the GPS plug keeps falling out! lol
i'd go for the original 'design' as most complaints i've heard have been about O2 version - BUT just cosmetics, not hardware.
i really can't be bothered to send this back, but will think twice about what i upgrade to next :/
or a website, the screen flickers, and lags.

If you're using PIE, there is a fix for that. After applying the fix, scrolling is just fine.
I also have no scrolling issues using Netfront 3.5.
cosmetics i agree with that.
if you look in the accessories thread, there are multiple posts about the top screen being crooked and not glued onto the other screen, hearing snap backs when tapping on or around the corners.
Also I agree that the micro-sd hatch is very poorly designed, also along with the GPS plug.
Just a thought, that keeps recurring though my mind...why didn't they put more time and thought into these devices, when they cost upwards of $1000.
Unless of course, they made it this way, cosmetics and software, purposely...
But that's just me...there are some people who don't seem to have a problem with the way this device performs.
I think though, that I'm being over critical, because all of the previous HTC devices I have used, have never had problems that have even come close to this, and also, they didn't cost nearly as much. I just expected so much more from the TC.

On the TC
1) Wi-fi is fine
2) Only used BT to transfer files between laptop and phone, works fine.
3) No problem with earphone
4) not sure, the actual radio ROM (reception, etc) or FM Radio. 1st one is fine, 2nd one reception can suck.
5) Sux donkey balls. See the post about dialer skin lag. very true.
6) Never happened.
The device is fine overall with day to day use. but sometimes stuff just won't freakin work or will lag. every once in awhile my GPS will take forever to lock or when it does it will be off by a bit. sometimes windows live mail won't send/receive when i want it to. other times i feel the device just can't handle multiple things at the same time. opening audio manager when you have several hundred music files takes about 5-10 secs. then when listening to music while typing an sms, you will feel some lag while typing as opposed to typing with no music playing.
I have an Orbit 2 ...build wise its fantastic. Before I bought it, I was going to buy the iphone, the salesman in the O2 shop gave me a demo on the iphone's rigidity and build quality, he held the iphone flat in his palm with the screen up and slammed it down hard onto a wooden desk from a height of approx 1 metre....it looked very impressive...when I got my Orbit 2 I did the same.....not even a scratch....
Also thought I would comment on BT issues..since I failed to mention it in my previous post
Handsfree works great.
I have a handsfree system in my automobile, and I have a motorola HS850 as well.
No problems whatsoever.
Also, activesync works great over BT, so does internet sharing using the PAN.
File transfer takes a long time, but that is to be expected, since BT data transfer rates aren't as good as USB.
A2DP however, sucks the big one.
I've tried 5 different a2dp devices\headsets...
It's all lag ridden, staticy at times, and sometiems it just plain stops and skips for 5-20 seconds.
It seems like whenever you use a2dp it lags the whole friggen device as well..
I emailed HTC about this and their response was less than helpful.
They gave me a bunch of a2dp headset models that they have "tested"
and then told me that just because they were tested doesn't mean they are fully functional without issues.
I tried to tell them that it wasn't the headsets and it was the device itself, but they didn't seem to listen to what I had to say.
Never tried a2dp, but i don't have a hard time seeing this happening with this device. just the kind of thing to be expected. and i wanted to have stereo bluetooth to listen to music, etc. is it really that bad? guess i won't be trying that.
as far as build quality, it's good so far. except the loose volume switch on the side that rattles. kinda lame there. i've heard of the orbit2 jog dials falling off. there's another thread about that somewhere.

I'm one of the ones not having a problem with my TC. I agree the web using ie is slow but is also on every other wm device I've had. So I use opera mini.
Upwards of $1000?? Where the hell are you buying it anyway? That's a bit exagerated isn't it? I concur tho that phones are getting more and more expensive and the quality of build is not equal to cost. Actually my gf's t-mo go phone cost $40 and is seemingly indestructable.

You seem to have a lot of complaints. However, I can tell you that I have experienced no such lags as you mention using A2DP. I use a Moto S9 when I work out at the gym and no problems at all. I can even surf the web while using A2DP using Opera Mini or Mobile without issue. Keep in mind that I push multi-tasking on my devices.
I will say however, that using the S9's with the TC in NYC is crappy due to the weakness of the BT signal. I used to have the same issue with my Treo 750 using WM5 then when I upgraded to WM6 the issue seemed to lessen enough to the point where I didn't quite mind the "occasional" skip.

I tried them in my house, working out, airports, planes...no matter where i went they were the same. I dunno man :-\ I am having alot of bad luck lately...
And also, to comment about the price thing...the Sedna costs 1000 and the touch cruise is currently going for 700-800...I paid 850 for mine but i got it after one of the first shipments to the wholesaler. This is in the US though...I've heard these same exact phones cost like $50 in hong kong. Dunno if it's true but...search google checkout for the HTC Sedna, and see how much they cost.

Yea, surgex0, you might wanna do some investigation, b/c A2DP works perfectly for me also. No skipping, great quality, and I can multitask w/o a real slowdown in performance. I've used it with my Samsung A2DP headphones, my Sony A2DP input/output adapter for my home stereo, and random A2DP demo products in stores. No issues here... Maybe try other headphones, or if you are on a custom rom try the original rom.

Anyone willing to grab me their FM radio software?

I don't know if this would be as easy as a CAB, but I know the G-sensor calibrator was easily enough removed from the Raphael ROM to be used on Diamonds... My Raphael didn't come with the G-sensor calibration tool, so that was useful to me. Can anyone get the software out of their Raphael for the FM radio so I can see if my device even has the hardware necessary for it?
Cobbled together from the package in my Diamond ROM, but I have no way of testing it on the Raphael ('cause mine already has the Radio), other than to say that the cab installs without an error.
See how it goes...

Well, 15 year olds always know better than people who actually have the money to buy these phones...
Black, any copper wire going into the jack should act as an antenna. You should be able to test it by just plugging a USB cable into it. Then obviously use the speaker on the phone to see if you get sound. Reception probably won't be as good as if you used headphones, but if you at least get some static, you know you're good to go once you get headphones.
Nah it won't work I've got a usb cable plugged into mine right now but it's still asking for headphones. Thinking about it, it must know when you've connected headphones rather than a usb cable so it can mute the speaker.
My Touch Pro headphones were still sitting in the box until 5 minutes ago! The FM radio also works on the headphones that came with my Vario II, which I prefer cos they have a volume control on them, but the reception is much better on the Touch Pro headphones - probably because the Vario II ones weren't designed to be used as an antenna.

Nah. Have you ever seen any HTC phone that came to AT&T with a headset or case? I haven't. And I'm sure I won't since AT&T are cheapstakes.

8125 came with case & headset from Cingular (ATT).
Lets not sweat the small stuff. Jus tbe glad they don't disable all the features of the device to make you use their services like some other providers.
anyone with a dash, kaiser, etc should have a headset you can use. I'd love to see if this works...
p.s. Cingular/AT&T paid to NOT have them included in the box so they can sell you the accessories. The MPx220 from Cingular was the only iteration that didn't have the headphones. I had to buy them seperately.

GB..Bluetooth Audio messed up :(

Can someone please confirm that their BT Audio still locks up after about 1hr? Yesterday after installing GB i have noticed that my BT audio locked up and phone says it is connected by no audio comes out. This is the same behavior i have on the Froyo version. The only way to release or fix it is a reboot. I really need BT to work i hate holding phone to my ear. Anyway can someone please confirm that theirs is doing the same thing. I have BlueAnt Q2. I also have another BT and i do believe the froyo version did the same thing with the other BT so i am sure it will happen with the GB version.
PS: the other thing that does not work with the BT is uploading contacts on the BT. This worked fine with Froyo.
can anyone confirm their BT Audio is working for more than 1-3hrs?. I am re-testing and will keep updating on what i find out.
UPDATE: BT has been on for exactly 2hrs and still working. I am currently testing it with the Jabra BT3030. I will report back.
PS: i have made and received calls using this BT just incase.
I've found that for when my BT locks up I can disable it then re-enable it, but it takes between 5-10 tries of re-enabling it before it takes. Probably faster to reboot, but I've had an aversion to rebooting ever since using the G1.
Bluetooth seems to be working better for me with this update. It has not yet failed to pair with my cheap Sony head unit, both handsfree and A2DP.
A2DP in particular used to suck. More than half the time when I'd start my truck the music icon would be missing from the Sony's display, but so far this build's A2DP seems to work right every time just like with my N1.
Navigation instructions through my car stereo FTW!
UPDATE: it is now 6hrs and 32mins into this testing and so far it is holding steady with the Jabra BT3030. I will keep on testing and report back.
PS: I am really amazed how well optimized the battery now is with this GB build.

I am not about to rule that out just yet... Waiting to see what happens once i get past 8hrs. I will test Q2 next. so far i am really impressed with the battery optimization on this GB. Once i start freezing things or use one of those custom roms i am sure battery life will be even better.
PS: i wonder if they is any firmware update for the Q2?

I have a q2 and was connected yesterday for about 3 hours without issue. Was able to make and receive calls during that time without bluetooth disconnects. I did have a disconnect when I first updated (without rebooting), but after I rebooted my bluetooth worked fine.

Were you able to upload your contacts? Could you do me a favor and leave it on all day for as long as you can to see if it locks up or you get NO audio. I am about to begin the test for the Q2. So far the Jabra BT3030 seem to be working just fine. Now 8hrs and 20mins and no issue.
I have a Q2 also and I'm constantly turning off and on bluetooth and the headset itself. etc etc, reboot.. damn. I changed from a Jawbone ERA (which was having issues also)
Using the EB 105gb leak rom atm and was using the stock g2x w/faux uv kernel earlier.
I have a Q2 that locks up on EB Froyo, but I love EB Froyo and the only reason I would update to GB is to fix the BT problem with Q2. Please let us know if your Q2 test is positive.
My q2 would not transfer phone book and has lost audio a few times today. Its more stable than stock but the previous gb leak worked perfect for me. Let me also mention that Bluetooth works perfect on cm7, phone book also transfers as well. I see myself going back to cm7 soon mainly because of Bluetooth.

I'm on a stinkin Wired Headset atm, so I'm quite interested. (0.0)b
Well guys, i can almost confirm it does lock up or looses audio. After over 9hrs testing the Jabra BT3030 i had NO issue with that BT. Charged phone up to 97%, reboot the phone and added the Q2. 1hr and 30min into testing it locked up or lost audio. This was after multiple calls and playing few songs just to make sure i haven't lost audio.... I don't know what to make of it. I don't know if it is the Q2 or our phone. One thing that i noticed and saw this on Froyo as well as other GB roms is that when you turn off the BT on the phone and try to re-enable it in like 2-3secs its like it is still trying to shutdown or something. After about 1-2mins it is back to normal....
As far as not being to transfer contacts to Q2 i can tell you that i spoke to BlueAnt tech support tonight and found out that if you have contacts on your sim card, it confuses the hell out of Q2. This wasn't the case for other roms that i tested or Froyo. I ended up taking my sim card out and guess what, it uploaded the contacts to Q2. Anyway i am thinking about taking my Q2 back to AT&T to see if i can exchange it for another one to see if that will solve this problem seeing that i bought it December of 2010.
Please i ask others that have the Q2 to leave BT and Q2 on for over 4-5hrs and see if it stays connected.

I dont need to wait 4hrs to tell you, my problem with it is exactly what you described.
On another note.
Least I only got my q2 a week ago, I can still return it to Bestbuy this weekend.
Dunno what else to get that has a2dp though. Other than jawbone(have/had them all) what headset on the market would anyone suggest or recommend? I had the Discover 975 worked great until I lost it, no a2dp though.. Had the Bose which was fun, but no a2dp either... any suggestions?
That and of course possibly switch to CM7.1 rc1? Except no A2dp.. which defeats the purpose of the whole paragraph above. haha.
What are you leaning toward, Cenwesi?

Well i know for sure the Jabra BT3030 works but does not have the phonebook feature so i am leaning towards it. I really think people with A2DP really need to test theirs and then we will know for sure if it is the Q2 or is the the phone or software. Very hard to tell right now.
Lol, looks like it just locked up again. This time more like 2hrs.

Hows the sound quality with the 3030? How well does the other person hear you from where it normally hangs if you wear it around your neck? Hows the noise cancellation and the quality of your connection to your phone?
