Hi,
I am thinking of upgrading to WM6, just to give it a try.
I know that if I dont' like it I can always revert back to the WM5, just reinstall the ROM.
However, I have spent 30 minutes searching around this site for the AT&T Factory Rom, build 14959.2.3.2
Can't seem to find it.
Anyone know where to find it.
As an aside, anywone know when AT&T is going to release the official ROM update, just debating whether to wait a while longer to get the real deal...
Thanks
Anyone have this?
I'm looking to downgrade the to the ATT version, not cingular.

Hey all,
My wizard is about 1 year old, and I'm getting the need for an upgrade.
I was thinking about trying a WM6 ROM, but can't decide if I should.
My question really are:
1. Is it worth it? Will it feel any different than WM5, other than just new look?
2. What are the chances of bricking the device during the upgrade?
Thanks a lot..

Let me just say that in January I was ready to throw my Wizard (8125) in the trash. I hated the phone as it was the worst purchase I ever made. It was unreliable, dropped calls, and reset for no reason all the time. It became for me just a PDA, and even then one I barely used since it would reset everytime I started to really need it (or so it seemed). My Nokia 6620 was far more reliable and useful than my 8125 ever was (but due to contracts and prices, getting a new replacement wasn't really an option for me, but I did figure out how to SIM unlock my Nokia 6620 so I was looking at going back to it). Since I had decided to go back to the 6620, I remembered hearing about people flashing custom roms on their Wizard devices, and decided to come back to XDA-Dev (I had found it last September but the term "brick" scared me off), and give it a shot. What was the worst that could happen? Brick it? I was ready to trash it anyway so who cared.
I read everything and decided to give the Faria AKU3.3 a try (WM6 was brand new out and I was intemidated by things I was reading). After I successfully CID Unlocked and then flashed the Tmobile 2.26 rom (which I found hilarious on a Cingular device) I then did AKU 3.3. All I can say is, the rest is history. My eyes were opened. Suddenly this phone became what it was supposed to have been when I bought it. It was fast and reliable. All of my issues (resets, hangs, and dropped calls) were all gone!
So at a minimum, CID Unlock (if you ahve a G3) and put a custom WM5 rom on. You will NOT be disappointed...
But then the ROM flashing bug took over and I'm firmly into WM6 now. I don't think I can ever think about going back to WM5. I just like the feel and ease of things in WM6 (but at first some things I did not like so it takes time to get used to some of the changes).
So good luck in what you decide. Most claim after upgrading to mine (or many other of the custom roms here) that their phone has new life and it stalls the need to switch to buying a new device... Yeah, I'll probably move to an 8525 (Hermes) sometime, but right now my little Wizard is my best buddy and as important to me as my work computer. I use it for everything now...

Hmmm... this is a good piece of history. Can it go into the ROM flashers anonymous thread? Please...

Long time reader, first time poster =]
Just wondering if i can use the same WM update as everyone else? I paid for a program to unlock my treo 750 to work for T-mobile when i first bought it.
I would like to upgrade to WM 6.0, i have done alot of reading, know how to do it, but not sure if i do upgrade to wm6.0 with the atnt rom, it might 'lock' the phone again.
Can anyone clarify this.
Flash away podna..it won't lock your device.

Guys,
I had a screen fault and sent my Kaiser away and the repair centre have flashed it with what appears to be an official T-Mobile UK 6.1 ROM (it's showing as CE OS 5.2.19212 Build 19212.1.0.3).
Is this any use to anyone before I put something else on the phone?
As an aside, I made a hash of restoring the phone back to factory for the repair and sent it with a custom splash screen and HardSPL installed and they still repaired it.
Mindful of the custom splash I did make a point of fully charging the battery and sending it switched on, so I dunno if they noticed or not but either way it seems to be working now
are you able to export it ?
what hardware are you using ?
As it happens the fault has reoccurred.
I'm absolutely raging with them so it's going back to the store again tomorrow.
When I get it back (again) then yes, i'll gladly export it if someone can provide some hints or a link to a decent guide.
Never mind a custom splash screen - from my experience of T-Mobile, they probably wouldn't have noticed if you'd sent them a cucumber in the Vario box. They would probably have tried to re-flash the ROM onto that...
There are threads on ROM dumping, although I don't know anything about it myself.
I would be very grateful for a copy of this ROM.
Good luck
Thats a shame I have been hoping to get the 6.1 update!
Just received a replacement Vario 3 and it has Windows 6.1 !! and radio 1.70.18.02 but unit keeps rebooting when putting the pin in.
just removed pin and now working!
Anychance of a ROM Dump? Software version?
SPL details?
Cheers
If anyone's still interested in this, I also received a replacement with this on, and have attempted a reconstruction:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=99MBNM1T
Not sure if it'll work, as had some issues when reconstructing, but I don't want to try it as I can't get the rom again anywhere else currently.
Let me know if anyone has any luck. There's no radio cooked in - it came with 1.70.18.02.
Monkey0 has successfully reconstructed this rom over in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421896
So if you want the official T-mobile WM 6.1rom for Kaiser, you can have it!
Has anyone heard anything about ETA for Windows Mobile 6.5 update from Telus? I'm almost tempted to unlock the phone and install a cooked rom.
Just unlock and flash a ROM. It'll be better than anything you'll get from Telus.
Trust me, I did.
That's what I'd like to do, I'll just have to figure out how to go about getting it done now.

I've hard reset it like advised and haven't installed any 3rd party apps.
After I wait a few hours, the phone will start to respond, but will be significantly sluggish.
I believe I should have posted this in the general section (Not sure, I'm fairly new to these forums)

I think it's time you bring it to your local Verizon store and show them. Tell them "Look, I turn on the phone, and I can't use it!" I'm guessing they're smart enough to realize you need a replacement because that's not normal. I'm sure they'll give you another replacement.
If they don't, flash a ROM and see if it works. If everything works with the custom ROM, then it was obviously a Verizon stock ROM flaw (which I doubt since this doesn't seem common).
Yea, I had to pay for my first replacement ($50)
I hear the official 6.5 is out, where can I find that?
Also, I don't know the first thing about flashing phones with custom ROMs

Pshh.. they gave you a faulty one now, so you shouldn't have to pay for the next replacement!
Officially, WM6.5 for the TP2 is for the Unlocked GSM European TP2. It's only for GSM networks, though (you have CDMA, so you can't flash that!).
Custom ROM flashing: I learned from a pictorial. Just follow everything! Always flash a CDMA Rhodium/TP2 ROM (you can find those at PPCGeeks) to your Verizon/Sprint/Telus TP2.
Most ROMs are not going to be suited for your phone (keyboard), so some fixes are found here.
Some of the famous CDMA ROMs are MightROMs and EnergyROMs. Find one that suits you!
*CDMA = Sprint/Verizon/Telus
GSM = Unlocked/Tilt2/T-Mobile* ROMs are made specifically for one network, and a particular device. So, never flash a GSM ROM onto a CDMA phone, and never flash a TP1 ROM to a TP2.
Good luck!

Actually, the US Cellular TP2 also comes with 6.5. If you don't have a US Cellular phone though, you still can't flash it and will need a custom rom.
Wow, you guys are extremely helpful over here.
So I should flash it, or ask for a new one?

I heard about that. However, like you said, it wouldn't be great with a Verizon phone since I doubt there's an official ROM floating around (there would be a ROM dump on PPCGeeks) but why would anyone want a stock ROM to replace a stock ROM?!

Ask for a new one first because we don't know if the issue you have is due to faulty hardware or software. If it's hardware, a new ROM can't do anything. If it was software or firmware(ROM), then a new ROM should be able to fix it.
If you ever need to return the phone and it has a custom ROM, you will have to re-flash the stock ROM found at thewingster. You will then have to follow the steps to return stockSPL (very bottom of the post). If you don't do these return-to-stock steps, Verizon wouldn't accept it!
Got my new one in the maill today, for free.
Thanks guys.
now.. should I flash? I want 6.5 badddd

I'm guessing wait 'til the weekend arrives. Use the phone hardcore! If anything goes wrong with it for the next few days, at least you can return it again.
If you're truly desperate, I guess you could flash!
lol there's hardcore ways to use our phone? I thought it was bad-ass all around.
Is there an ETA of when Verizon's TP2 6.5 is suppose to arrive? I thought it was December/January :\
It's out... check out the thread over at PPC Geeks.
Got it. Thanks
