Does your TP2 Lock Up like this? - Touch Pro2 CDMA

I've hard reset it like advised and haven't installed any 3rd party apps.
After I wait a few hours, the phone will start to respond, but will be significantly sluggish.

I believe I should have posted this in the general section (Not sure, I'm fairly new to these forums)

I think it's time you bring it to your local Verizon store and show them. Tell them "Look, I turn on the phone, and I can't use it!" I'm guessing they're smart enough to realize you need a replacement because that's not normal. I'm sure they'll give you another replacement.
If they don't, flash a ROM and see if it works. If everything works with the custom ROM, then it was obviously a Verizon stock ROM flaw (which I doubt since this doesn't seem common).

Yea, I had to pay for my first replacement ($50)
I hear the official 6.5 is out, where can I find that?
Also, I don't know the first thing about flashing phones with custom ROMs

Pshh.. they gave you a faulty one now, so you shouldn't have to pay for the next replacement!
Officially, WM6.5 for the TP2 is for the Unlocked GSM European TP2. It's only for GSM networks, though (you have CDMA, so you can't flash that!).
Custom ROM flashing: I learned from a pictorial. Just follow everything! Always flash a CDMA Rhodium/TP2 ROM (you can find those at PPCGeeks) to your Verizon/Sprint/Telus TP2.
Most ROMs are not going to be suited for your phone (keyboard), so some fixes are found here.
Some of the famous CDMA ROMs are MightROMs and EnergyROMs. Find one that suits you!
*CDMA = Sprint/Verizon/Telus
GSM = Unlocked/Tilt2/T-Mobile* ROMs are made specifically for one network, and a particular device. So, never flash a GSM ROM onto a CDMA phone, and never flash a TP1 ROM to a TP2.
Good luck!

Actually, the US Cellular TP2 also comes with 6.5. If you don't have a US Cellular phone though, you still can't flash it and will need a custom rom.

Wow, you guys are extremely helpful over here.
So I should flash it, or ask for a new one?

I heard about that. However, like you said, it wouldn't be great with a Verizon phone since I doubt there's an official ROM floating around (there would be a ROM dump on PPCGeeks) but why would anyone want a stock ROM to replace a stock ROM?!

Ask for a new one first because we don't know if the issue you have is due to faulty hardware or software. If it's hardware, a new ROM can't do anything. If it was software or firmware(ROM), then a new ROM should be able to fix it.
If you ever need to return the phone and it has a custom ROM, you will have to re-flash the stock ROM found at thewingster. You will then have to follow the steps to return stockSPL (very bottom of the post). If you don't do these return-to-stock steps, Verizon wouldn't accept it!

Got my new one in the maill today, for free.
Thanks guys.

I'm guessing wait 'til the weekend arrives. Use the phone hardcore! If anything goes wrong with it for the next few days, at least you can return it again.
If you're truly desperate, I guess you could flash!

lol there's hardcore ways to use our phone? I thought it was bad-ass all around.
Is there an ETA of when Verizon's TP2 6.5 is suppose to arrive? I thought it was December/January :\

It's out... check out the thread over at PPC Geeks.

Got it. Thanks

Been a while....but I'm back ATT Tilt

So I haven't been here in a while but it seems that everyone and their Mom are making Rom's for HTC devices. Also it seems the tilt is known by a few names so I never am quite sure if I'm reading info for the right phone.
I looked at the wiki but a lot of that information is old. So I guess my 1st question is this:
My company is getting me a AT&T Tilt and the 1st thing I want to do is get rid of the bloatware from AT&T. There doesn't seem to be a catch all for all things related to the tilt.
So what ROM's are stable enough to install?
Are these phones unable to be sim unlocked (not like it matters)?
ISo you can flash the Radio ROM seperate from the Phone RIM (I'm so confused)?
And finally this phone can still be CID unlocked (Which will need to happen)in order to flash a unofficial "cooked ROM on to the handset)?
If there is one post that shows all this info that would be awesome. I've followed a few threads but the information seems disjointed and then others start talking about handsets similar to the tilt but I don't know if it applies.
Soft for all the newbie questions.
I had a TMo Dash and MDA and then a Cingular 8125. That was over 6 months ago. Started a new job and they made me go to a blackberry. Then we got bought by Qualcomm so now I have convinced my boss to get me this phone.
Thanks in advance
It's all here. Your Tilt is an HTC Kaiser and you're in the right forum! Some quick answers:
HardSPL gives CID unlock
No free SIM unlock yet
All ROMs are stable.
Independent radio flashing is limited b/c AT&T's latest ROM features a radio unique to it. Sound is lost if either of the two appear separately. Orange ties SIMLock to their radio so if you flash a different radio on an Orange phone, you will need to sim unlock with several of the free unlockers to get up and running again. However you can flash a different ROM on Orange w/o touching the radio and everything's golden still.
Look at the sticky threads in upgrading for more complete answers. Happy hunting!
Nice executive summary Sleuth, however I have difficulties to understand what you mean with this:

No worries, actually a very interesting phenomenom.
Did any of the guys have to do a double unlock? (i.e. before and after they moved to orange radio). And were the codes different?
hope this helps
hardspl is necessary for ROM flashing (sleuth kinda glazed over it)
when you put on hardspl, it won't look like anything was done, but you can then flash ROMs as much as you'd like.
I stick with at&t ROMs to avoid radio issues.
You could always start by hard resetting and then soft resetting before the at&t customizations install. Either way it's a good idea to test out the stock ROM.

Radio Nightmare...need help.

I've been using Dutty Hybrid 2.5 with radio 1.65.14.06 for months and all was fine. yesterday, i got no reception all of the sudden. i would get 5 bars and hsdpa for 30 sec or so and then i loose the signal completely for a few minutes. i did a hard reset...no luck. so now i just flashed about 10 different 6.1 radios. i either get reception, OR the camera works. none do both. i decided it had to be a problem with the rom. so i just flashed an L26 diamond rom. same thing. the fact that the the camera and the web/phone each work (with different radios ) makes me think this cant be a hardware issue.
Any Ideas?
You'd think that. But I honestly thing you have a Hardware issue. Due to the spontaneity of the first time this problem happened.
hmmm...
if it is a hardware problem...i guess i'll probably be going without the camera (its pretty weak anyways). still, it seems very strange that i could get everything working separately, although i dont fully understand the connection between the radio and the camera. this stinks. i'm also assuming that because i've flashed roms my warranty is void. does anyone have any other ideas as to what this might be?
JimmyMcGee is our expert in the discussion but i also favour your theory that its not a hardware issue because you are confirming that Phone or Camera work well using different radios and one of them get knocked under at the time... yeah
i am suspecting that you are using wrong radio for your roms look here
try official rom and how will kaiser react to it
if not revert stocked rom and stocked spl and Warranty will be restored check this
i had the same problem with one of Dutty's ROM last week. even flashed back to stock and had the same problem. i ended up getting a new phone.

Before i venture an idea here, i believe we need some more information:
1) Did you mean Dutty's 4/29 Hybrid v2 w/ 1.65.14.06
2) The list of "10 different WM6.1 Radios" that you tried and which ones got reception/camera worked.
3) Did you try a hard reset already, because you didn't mention it?
Typically the issue w/ the camera not working also means that while you may be able to hear sound on your phone, typically the other party can't hear you when you have the wrong radio installed, just as a side note.
If flashing back to a stock rom, and hard reset do not work, then i would take Jimmy's advice and just do a warranty exchange, as it probably is hardware related.
@Jimmy - did you hear that? "JimmyMcgee is our expert" nice to see someone showing you the proper respect
Serviced mine once due to this exact same thing.
One last thing you can try, go under band and put the first drop down menu to GSM.
If this doesn't help, you will have to service it.
It's some part that is made of lead that is veeeeeery cheap really
It get a little bent and they will straight it for you.
Happened twice with me, I eneded up changing the main board which was much better.
Then after 2 months of normal use and no problems, a guy wanted to buy it and he did.
Got myself a new one.
Don't worry if you are in warranty.
Do not forget to flash back the original ROM then Radio then SPL.
Oh, and Relock security if you unlocked it
Good luck
I would also venture that the Radio is not FULLY working, just partly, that's why sometimes the Calls work but no camera, and vice versa.
I'd say flash back to stock SPLs and Roms and Do a Warranty Exchange if you can.
Remember, You never flashed any ROMs.

Cupcake on T-Mobile G1

I've just received a new T-Mobile G1 and I am pretty desperate to update to a cupcake build. There's loads of guide here that will walk me through it no problem, but there are some things they don't explain fully (or at least, I can't find them).
Will I lose all my contacts and messages when I update? Will I lose all my T-Mobile data (like message settings, 3G settings etc.?). Will Market and everything else still work? What will stop functioning correctly when I do upgrade, specifically for T-Mobile in the UK?
Thanks a lot!

You will lose messages, you will not lose any T-Mobile data, you will not lose any contacts. I suggest you check out Haykuro's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498026
You will need root. And I suggest you go with haykuro's 4.5 build. I won't go in to any more detail, just do some research in haykuro's thread and others on how to get root, etc. Good luck.
Wel.. Where can i start? The cupcake your possibly reading about isnt fully working on G1 Yet..
I recomend you try one of the magic roms ported to G1, Preferbly 5.0H
Root is easy to achieve, Just read around.. Plenty ahve asked how to do this before, so please dont make new threads, Just read please
If you are referring to the ''Cupcake'' that T-Mobile is releasing this Easter then all these guys are wrong. If you do update to HTC Sapphire it will void your warranty and there's a small(Or large if you don't follow directions) that you could brick your brand new G1. The ''Cupcake'' that T-Mobile will release or at least hoping it will, will be coming in the next days. This update is 100% safe and will not do anything harmful to your g1. It wont even delete anything.

Really? For the time being, there is no T-Mobile Cupcake build so how it can it be best? Granted, if and when it comes out, it may well be superior, but that is by no means certain since Haykuros builds are getting better all the time.
If the OP is waiting on an official T-Mobile Cupcake update, I suggest there is no point asking around here since if he leaves his phone with a vanilla build, he'll get the update soon enough, if and when it is released.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks guys. I'm not waiting on the t-mobile build as I have little faith in them releasing it any time soon. I'll ask my question in a different way; what's the best build to put on my UK t-mobile G1? With regards to battery life and features? Thanks
I suggest you read the threads about rooting your G1. The first thing you have to do is downgrade to RC7, and get root. Then, don't accept any OTA (from T-Mobile) upgrades if you should get a notice.
After downgrading and getting root, read up on some of the different builds. You can go to JF's RC9, which is a modded version of the official UK one with root. I would really advise you to do this first, so you will know how to flash your roms, and how to flash the radio.
It will give you a stable version which won't accept OTA updates so you don't have to worry about losing root. (Plug your phone into a power source, or at the very least, be sure your battery has a full charge while flashing, and don't ever turn your phone off while it is flashing.)
After that, read threads like the one comparing the two Magic versions. 5.xG is the google version, and 5.xH is the HTC version.
Once you have gotten root and gone to RC9, you will be able to do something called a Nandroid backup of your phone. You will then be able to try both versions of magic, and also to restore your phone to RC9 if they don't work out for you without losing anything. (Another reason to try a more official mod before trying the Magic ones).
edit: I just found this on the Magic wiki page. It looks helpful: http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/wiki/PageName
Have fun with it!

Ya know, you're the second person this week who flashed that hard spl to a gsm phone (instant death, btw). I'm curious, did someone tell you to use that specific hard spl? It seems kind of weird that two people would do it so close together. Edit: here is the other thread. It's weird, you're both on Dutch phones. I'm just wondering if there's a dutch board with a bad link.

I agree completely! I have seen quite a bit of this going on lately. You guys spend a ton of money on your devices at least take a little bit of time to perform some research before trying anything. I remember when I got my first ATT 8525 (hermes 100) and wanted to flash a ROM and I also remember that before I did I spent roughly 6-7 hours reading up on the device and everything that the XDA wiki had to offer before I even installed my first app.

Could someone explain please?
Radio is comparable to something like your WiFi card in your laptop. Depending on your location, etc, some radios are better than others. They control your signal, GPS, WiFi, etc. The most used one that I've seen is 1.14.25.35
UC Capable is something you need when you start cooking. If you're new to the Raph, you probably don't need this info yet.
SPL is the most important. Since you bought your device pre-flashed with 6.5, is should be hardSPL. This helps prevent your device from becoming an expensive paperweight. Now, it helps, but doesn't guarantee. If you put your device into bootloader (hold vol-, hold power, and reset with stylus) your device at the top of your screen should say something like SPL-1.90.Olinex. This means it's hardSPL and you are able to flash custom ROMS, like the NRGZ28 ROM you linked to. As long as they are GSM you should be able to flash any ROM for the GSM Touch Pro.
These are the basics so just keep reading the wiki. I will answer any questions I can, so just shoot me a PM if needed
Hey, if you want to flash your Raphael, I'd recommend you read this
I did my first, regardint this thread, and actually worked, really simple if you ask me!
Some suggestions: Leave the radio, for first, just do a simple ROM flash, and after that if you find it nessescery you can do it later.
The only ROM I tried for my Raphael is TAEL's ROM, it's amazing compared to the stock ROMs!!! If you're intrested click on it in my signature!
I have the following ROM;-
r:- 1.11.25.01
g:-52.58.25.30u
d 5. phoenix
Do I have to revert to a OEM ROM? If so, where do I find those please?
Good news, I've been sucessfull Phoned imaged to TAEL Roms - very good.
Could of questions;-
1. Don't have the sat nav the other image had. Can't remember the name of it. but I used to use that quite alot. Does anyone know where I can download it from?
2. Used to have an application called FLASHLIGHT - great little app. Its a TOURCH application that used the FLASH Light. Really handy. Where can I download it please.
Many thanks.

1) are you talking about the garmin or tomtom gps software? or the one where you use the GPS to lock down a location (kinda like "dude where's my car?" app for the iphone)
search on the forums under software development subforum. it's called Torch.. that or NueLight.
Thanks I managed to find the torch light thing, but still can't find the sat nav. Not sure what the name was. It was really good though. Wasn't the tom tom navigator. Wish I made a note of it, as it was fully working version :-(
are you talking about the GPS navigation software? if so then it's either garmin (mobile XT) or tomtom
Hi,
Looking on my storage card Managed to find the name - AUTO MAPA. Tried to load it from the storage card, and it works. So I have copied the exe to the start menu, multimedia folder and it works great
Whats this GARMIN Mobile XT like then?
Since updating to TAEL Rom, my signal is very low and keeps disconnecting from the network.
Do I need to upgrade my RADIO then?
My version is;-
1.11.25.01
I found this one, would this work ?

try testing other radio. I changed my radio to the new ATT official rom (not so new anymore but it was the latest updated ATT rom). Test it out for a few days each and map out what you think works best and keep to that.
One thing I noticed is that some radios will crash your phone after a call.. they may give you better signals, but it will crash your phone, so be aware of that.
Hi,
Thanks for the message. Does it matter that I am on TMOBILE and not ATT ?
