Win Mob 5.0 ROM Development?

Hi
(First post, done lots of reading though!)
I have an iMate JAM and really want an update for WM5.0.
Don't think there's any chance of an official one (B*****DS!!), but I'm sure you clever XDA ROM fanatic types can come up with a way to make one.
Is there a way to merge the drivers from the latest Magician ROM with the WM2005 Himalaya leaked OS? Surely the hardware can't be THAT different that big changes need to be made.
Taking it a step further, maybe updated files from the new PPC non-phone edition ROM updates could be incorporated to make it more stable.
I've been hunting through google and a few foreign pages seem to mention there being a leaked magician beta rom in the early days, can anyone confirm this?
I'll let someone who knows their stuff disprove me now!
If anyone HAS managed to get anywhere with cooking a ROM for WM5.0, let us know here

Why does no one reply to these types of posts?
If you look on the Himalayas forum, the people there managed to get WM2005 on their XDA II...how come we can't get it on our Magicians?

i want WM 5.0. IS IT REALLY IMPOSSIBLE, OR MIGHT COME SOON

I saw some forum said that WM5.0 doesn't work on iMate-JAM (O2 mini Dopod 818), they said there are many function is abnormal, eg. the carmera, GPRS, etc.
May we need time waiting xda-developers can release a suitable WM5.0ROm for iMate JAM (O2 mini , Dopod) fans to upgrade.

Yeah, the fact that we Himalaya users are now using WM5.0 is thanks to somebody that stumbled with a XDA2 with WM5.0 preloaded and was kind enough to share it with us...
Of course there where some tweaking and modifications involved, but the thing is that there was an XDA2 with WM5.0 already installed.

well.. here are the pictures on the site.. gave me a hard time registering.. but their server is fast in giving out email verifications..
anyway.. nothing seems new.. beside from the about applet telling that it is 6.1 professional.. i think it's just a hoax..
if it is really a 6.1 ROM, then should the screenshots be focusing on the NEW features WinMo6.1 should have supposed to deliver?
i mean, wktask and touch dual KB? that's supposed to be new to WM6.1? duh?

Is that just a theme such as wisbar on the device that shows the top bar similar to the taskbar on windows xp and shows what programs are open or is that possibly from the new 6.1 rom? That and the icon on the bottom bar that shows the keyboard.

whether its fake or not, i doubt those are standard wm6.1 apps

well reading the previous posts about 6.1, it was under the impression that it is going to be quite a bit different than 6.0!! so is it FAKE?

the truth is that windows mobile 6.1 is only out for phone edition... not pocketpc.... some of the recent motorla models have it... i dont think theres ANY PROFESSIONAL version for any PDA out yet

WM 6.1 Cunfusion

Can someone clarify the following please:
I just noticed some RSS feeds where MS has JUST announced the release of WM 6.1?? How is it we have this forum has had it for months now?
Also- this is my main question - in looking around the web at various video's of WM6.1 there is a new front end that looks pretty nice - how come I never see this on this forum?

same thing as how do people get music CDs before they come out...they get leaked out. and all these roms aren't official. there will probably never be an official copy for kaiser.
and that video is probably for smartphones. Our phones are PPC which contains professional version (touchscreen).

Q1: That's simple. The ROMs you see here are non-official/leaked.
Q2: There's are not so much changes in WM6.1 Professional, but WM6.1 Classic has a new interface/Today Screen.
That's what they show in a lot of videos.

No because Microsoft released wm 6 and 6.1 as a free upgrade. It is the job of your phone provider to port it to their hardware. But the people here cook up custom ROM. So they are just taking the place of the providers doing it.

Presumably though, the providers have signed an agreement to allow them to do this?
I'm just speculating and don't get me wrong, I'd hate to not be able to get hold of cooked roms but the legalities of it all is something thats been on my mind for a while now.

can anybody tell me, where can I download the WM 6.1? I have branded Kaiser from Orange and I am now able to download it from HTC Club site. Is there any other way to download it? thnx

i dont want the serial and i dont want anyone to post it this thing is so hard to find for some reason i bought a version from japan and im hoping the serial will work on a english version if i ever find one. and yeah we can all use google but that ist a download and the 4 hours i have been looking for google hasnt give me a download or a place i can download it just bad news im just trying to catch a break in the hope someone has it and they are nice

NetFront No Longer Sells this
I bought a LocationFree off ebay and it was advertised as for windows mobile but now can not get the software because Netfront no longer allows it to be sold or downloaded.
The upgraded model is still for sale at the BB by my house and still advertise that it works on windows mobile.
This is crap. I snapped a picture with my phone and sent the picture and link to the AG in my state. At this point I am of the opinion that Sony is the spawn of the Devil.

The English version has been posted on this forum by another user. I have the Japanese version and when I downloaded the English version, the serial worked. All of the settings were already populated as well, even though I removed the Japanese version from my mobile device already prior to installing the English version. I hope this helps!

I posted a free listing on the most popular online auction site in the Want It Now section. Luckily, someone had the software (Japanese version) and sold it to me for $20 or $30. This was in December 2008. Recently, I downloaded the English version and the serial works for it as well. I have it installed on my hp iPAQ hx2115 which I purchased online. I hope this helps!
