Hi first post so be gentle! I've owned a T-mobile Vario 18 months ago, before that had an I-mate Jam, also owned a couple of windows smartphones. Tomorrow I'm upgrading and would like some opinions on the following T-mobile handsets:
MDA Compact 3
MDA Vario 2
MDA Touch
The compact 3 I like for the builtin Sirf3 chipset, as I like the idea of integrated gps, which I have on my Nokia N95, though it's not the best. The lack of wifi and 3G on this device is a little off-putting though, and it would be good to have a keyboard, which brings me onto the Vario 2. Like the idea of the full keyboard (loved it on the Vario I had) and has 3G plus wifi connectivity. Main drawback here is the size of the device, which brings me onto the Touch. Love the form factor, the touchflo input seems interesting though I've heard mixed reports on this. What pros and cons do you guys see with each device? Certain aspects of each one I really like, but ultimately there can only be one chosen. Thanks.....
I for sure, will choose the upcoming MDA Vario 3
It has built-in GPS as well, but not Sirf3 ...
Dont worry, it is working great ! On average below 30 seconds satelite fix
PS: MDA Vario 3 is available now under HTC Kaiser brand.
Vario 3 is great device, but for me not affordable sadly. Can get any of the other 3 devices for free to £40 GBP (interestingly the Vario 2 is the one with the £40 fee invloved, the Vario 3 isn't out on T-mobile just yet, but is down as "coming soon"). Sort of leaning towards the Touch a little now, compact, WM6, WiFi enabled, could always pickup a bluetooth gps receiver for satnav needs I guess, though the builtin solution is "neater". Still not 100% on a choice yet.

I have the T-Mobile MDA Vario II and the T-Mobile MDA Touch have no use for them as I have the kaiser.
T-mobile replaced my Vario II as it was faulty, I used it for about two weeks and then got the MDA Touch.
I want to sell both of them...
The MDA Touch is new used for about a week with a brando screen protector.
Both devices have the standart kit coming with them:
MDA Touch -
Box with cd's and manual
Case
Data Cable
Headset
Power Cable
Spare Stylus
Spare original Back Cover
1GB MicroSD
MDA Vario II -
Case
Data Cable
Headset
Power Cable
Spare Stylus x2
1GB Micro SD
They go between 130 and 180 on ebay, I do not deal with ebay so thats why i am selling them here.
MDA Touch - £150 buyer pays postage
MDA Vario II - £130 buyer pays postage
No time wasters PLEASE.
thread moved to a more appropriate forum.

If you can't get a decent price for your Vario 2 i'll take it for 85 quid.
I thought I'd try here rather than ebay first. I am after a Htc Cruise and am willing to trade both a 7 month old Mda Touch and a black 80Gb Ipoc Classic.
Touch is unlocked and flashed with Cloudy 2. It is in very good condition. Ipod Classic is a replacement player from Applecare and is either brand new or factory refurb, can't tell any differences.
Cruise must be in excellent or very good condition. Thanks for looking.
Hi,
Does anyone know if the main-body structure of the touch diamond from Sprint and T-Mobile are the same?
They look the same, but the reason I am asking is that the back casing of the Spring is deeper with bigger battery and it would be nice to get one for my UK version which has the puny battery!
Thank you.
I myself tried that already. Im on tmobile USA and bought the mda compact 4 from tmobile uk. The sprint touch diamond has a different back altogether to the mda 4. The bottom part on the mda 4 cuts off where the sprint one extends further. I hope that makes sense just check out the pics.
Thanks. Pictures were very helpful
no problem
hi guys,
I tried searching about and couldnt find an answer, basically i used my mda vario on tmobile and loved it but ive been with 3 for the last 18 months
and am on a second contract with them and wanted to go back to the vario, unfortunately because i have a 3g sim (and they wont provide me with a 2g
sim) I cannot use the vario on my current contract. I was looking at buying a tytn or tytn2 to use, i know the tytn 2 is compatible but is the tytn?
someone has offered me a tytn for £90 which i think is a good offer, could someone help me out and let me know? Im not too bothered about the features
that the tytnII has over the tytn as I already have gps in my car, and the slightly faster running isnt a bit worry.
Cheers,
The tytn will work fine as it is a 3g phone. You will hardly notice the difference from your vario except for the slide switch being replaced with a scroll wheel, (which is better), and the power button being in a different place, (which is worse).
im looking for a windows mobile phone for around £100
only thing's i really want is wifi and qwerty keyboard on it.
any idea's???
all help and input welcome
You wouldn't get one brand new for that kind of money, but you may be lucky enough to get a second hand one from ebay or something.
The HTC Touch Pro 2 seem to go for about £150 on ebay, so you should get the HTC Touch Pro for about £100 > £110.
The mWg Zinc II (I think...) may be quite cheap this way.
Note that I haven't had any of the above mentioned handsets so I don't know if they're any good - they're just the ones with wifi and qwerty keyboards that I can think off which would be about that price range.
I suppose it depends on what you're hoping to do with it - If the qwerty keyboard isn't an absolute necessity, you may even get a HTC TouchHD (Blackstone) for about £100.
Good luck!
