Hi everybody, I think I've made a rookie error and I'm sure its easy to fix...
I had picsel browser and I set my Jpg's and txt files to open in it as I thought it was nice and fancy, and yes Iphone like...
I soon got bored of the lag waiting time so I uninstalled it - now my txt files and jpg files and some others I associated with picsel cant be read, how do I re-assign the original pathways for these files?
Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Hello,
I have been messing around with Manila editor and I seem to have done something wrong with one of the files.
Can anyone send me the "7d3f1247_manila" file pls?
It's the picture of Web Browser in the Internet tab. It doesn't show anymore although I'm not sure why. The only thing I did was desaturate the picture - works with all the other icons/pictures.
Anyway, if anyone could post the file it would be great.
Or perhaps send it to [email protected].
Thanks in advance.
Anybody? It's just one file...
Best way to get it back is to switch off the today plugin in settings, then use total commander or resco to delete the file that you replaced in Windows and then reset your device. The deleted file will be restored from the ROM once the device starts back
Hmmm, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info, I'm going to try it right now...
OK so if I posted something that is on here I'm gonna be pissed cause I've been looking for hours!!! So the bottom line is that I bypassed the bloatware on my fuze. It sure as heck helps but there are certain programms/apps that I want to download back on such as x-press mail, opera, etc..... Does anyone have a link, list, or any helpfull hints as to sort out what means what in the windows folder of the device? I'm no programmer but have a very good concept of how to install them and that stuff but I can't for the life of me figure out what all that stuff means!!! I really appreceiate any help from anyone. I think what you guys do here is absolutely amazing. If I double posted I am very sorry and will can this thread ASAP if that is the case. Cheers!
I'm not amazing, lol, but download total commander and open \windows. Order everything by file extension, and scroll down to the cab files. Install ms. pacman. Then say "screw it," and flash energy rom.
Thank you for the reply. I would prefer to keep the stock ROM at this point. You know if there is anything or anyone that would have a list of the files in the windows folder and what they mean? God I hope I'm making sense....
*Double Post*
Just organize \windows by file extension (either with Total Commander or Active Sync) and look at all the cabs. There may be a few you want to install, like manila. There will be many that are total crap, like the games. You may want to look up a cab for a stock HTC manila. It won't have all of the ATT crap on it and will be more pleasant to use. If you don't know what a cab does, copy it to your desktop and analyze it with Wince Cab Analyzer (search for MSCEInf.exe). Or, if you have sk tools, use the CAB manager to look into the cabs and figure out what they are.

this site tell you what the various extentions mean
it's not just for pc's and in many cases pc extentions
and pda extentions mean the same thing like
.txt and .jpg dll exe ....
Ok Great! I get the whole Cab thing and stuff I just needed to know what it meant. You know how these things are.... you load em up with some stuff and sometimes it doesn't work the way it was intended. So my plan is to hard reset to clear everything then start all over. Done it before but there are certain things you want and need loaded. TF3D, Manilla, Microsoft security, opera ( Cough, if you want it) etc....... Once again, you all have been a great help. I appreceiate the lack of criticisim for me being a new guy compared to most of ya. Not often you can find good help without catchin flak for it. If you have any suggestions for a guy like me that helps improve the performance/ability of my fuze that would be awesome. Thanks again!!!
Newbie question here, but anyone know if a separate app is needed to open pwi files? If so what is it? I've got notes from my old phone that I'd like to transfer over....thanks!!!
I'm in the same boat baileyjs. I've tried a few different "note" programs but I haven't found one that works. If anyone else knows...the answer would be much appreciated. Thanks.

PWI? Pocket word? What if you rename them to .doc?
I'm pretty positive you can open a pocket word file with standard word on the desktop, so should be able to with quickoffice or whatever on the phone provided it has the right extension?
This week I finally got around to backing up my text messages and clearing the text message cache on my HTC Touch Pro 2 (Verizon). (my God, it had become slow) I'm running WM 6.1 and it seems that the MMS text messages are stored separately in proprietary ".dat" files in the "MMS UA" folder in My Documents. I searched around xda-dev and couldn't find any way to extract the files contained within. From what I understand, they are referred to as "Arcsoft MMS".
Anyway, the file format is somewhat obfuscated so a true extractor wasn't possible but I was able to produce a tool that could extract all the files out of my .dat files. It is a total hack-job, but there don't seem to be any options. Like I said, I searched around for a few minutes and couldn't find anything else so I am now posting to ask the following:
Does anyone want the tool?
If there is no other extractor out there, I will post it to this thread. Also, anyone who has some Arcsoft MMS files handy that don't contain any private information could help by sending me a copy if the tool can't handle them. With some input, it could possibly become a valuable tool for the community.
Lend me your input.
Thanks
Sounds awesome, please post the tool!
Yes, would appreciate this as well - so many devices and MMS are cluttered among all of them.
Cool. Well here it is guys.
Remember that I couldn't completely discover the proprietary format, and although it works on all of my attachments, it may not work on all of yours. It is easy to update the tool, though, so just message me.

thanks for this mate...s
Thanks, works - not on all, though. Will check further if there is a common cause for the failing ones.
Improvement proposal:
1.) touch the extracted files with the timestamp of the .dat file
2.) check the content of the smil file in the body section if there are elements supposed to be present. afaik, the .smil is a tag-language which can deliver the MMS content with an appropriate viewer
Thanks for the quick feedback.
Improvement #3... GUI
As for the .smil file, you are absolutely correct. However, the issue is not knowing that there are files present, but finding the boundaries of the data. Arcsoft's binary packed format uses header bytes to describe how data is stored. Unfortunately, even though I was able to determine many of the header fields, without documentation I have no idea what they mean or what others may be used in a given archive. It does seem to depend on what kind of phone sent the MMS. Still, I think you may have a good idea going. I could perform a second pass after extracting the .smil, which is just XML, using file names and a lazy search.
One thing I didn't have on my phone was an MMS containing a movie file. I should try that out...
This is a great tool!
It works under desktop Windows.
How about a tool that can be used in WM itself? Anyone thought of that?
Hey, sometime ago I uninstalled a browser app from my phone out of paranoia that is was spying on me (it wasn't a mainstream browser) and the thing deleted all the files that I downloaded from the browser off my phone. Although I wish to retrieve all of my files, I kind of given up hope, so I come here wondering if that's possible. What I really want are my music and video files, so I don't mind rooting my phone or obtaining some kind of log files that has the names of the files in them. Which ever way you think is better, basically since I can't find much info on my phone. Anyway thanks in advance!
