Please point me to the latest version of Windows Live Messenger. I found 3 but which one is the latest version?
10.6.0031.1600: http://rapidshare.com/files/52790984/WLM_10.6.0031.1600.cab
thank you, will load it up right now
Have anyone tried this version ? Seems to slow down my S200 very much! I will get up to 10 seconds longer waiting time for the different apps to start..
It is being used by many people and no complains so far, it has been included on bepe's and other roms.
Must be some conflict with an app you have installed.
i only have one problem, it does show up in the running app list, and i can't close it when pressing X button. So once i start it it will keep running until i restart the phone.
I think version 2100 is da latest.
Oddly, you're right, there must have been a mix-up because the date of this 'latest' os the same as the one I posted above, but the version numbers have changed, even the description is the same, weird.

Did Microsoft piss off HTC or what?
Last night (on G4) I heard that a up coming HTC phone will use "Google Live" and be Linux OS based.
Did Microsoft piss off HTC or what?
dont you think they were talking about the gPhone that htc are making for google ?
http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS5441884477.html
htc make alot of oem for other companys thats how they started
at first making ipaqs for compaq/hp later phones for cellphone companys
I was just wondering, have they maybe released a new version now, that WLM 9.0 beta is out?

I'm currently running nbd 9.0, and it's a bit flaky. I get 2-3 hangs a day. And, it's difficult to answer calls. Seems like things get really slow when a call comes in, and it just won't answer right.

Try mfrazz's build or you can also try my build as well as NotTooSmart's Build. We use the same base rom to cook and OS 318 has alot less issues as far as i know for staibility. TNT is releasing new OS soon :d
IPL/SPL: 3.08
GSM: 2.69.11
OCTAIVOI's Wizard 4.2 8M
No problem for 4 days. I tried a lot. This one is the best for me.
Just thought I'd note that The HTC Today plugin and the PocketCM and CMKeyboard can all be installed separately. You don't need them in the ROM.
This has been super stable for me over a week use

I would suggest rebuild your own ROM. I use whiterat ROM as that is the one that is most stable in my phone, or jaguar was good in my phone too. Rip it with core kitchen, and add the packages u like, and enjoy...

try NBD 8.3.....BEST ROM EVER IMHO.
What I've tried so far
NBD 9.0 - Very flaky -- many hangs, but beautiful
NBD 9.1 - Much better than 9.0, but, still some hangs. Java did not work with gmail applet (after installing, it would immediately exit whenever you try to run java)
NBD 8.3 - Java hanging issue.
SeeNoEvil - Does not have streaming media, has old HTC-X, no HTC Today thingie, but I love CoolCamera.
Mobile 6 2a - Seems stable, but no HTC Today thingie, or other fun aps.
OCTAIVOI's -- Things mostly work -- same java issue as NBD 9.1. Gmail does something weird to the java machine. -- since that's the only thing I use java for, it's a big deal.
WRCX3 -
And, I've discovered that these are the killer apps that I love:
1-Calc - I typically install rdcalc, but never use it to it's full potential -- 1-Calc is pretty sweet
HTC Today Thingie - I love this launcher -- lets me use my finger. I also like the Contacts & weather
HTC X
Streaming Media
I'm going to keep editing this post as I test things
But, now that I've gotten a taste, I want pieces of everything . . .
I think it may be time to cook a rom!
Where can I look to get started with a ROM kitchen? Last time I did it, it was with my original XDA, and Lumpi Stefan's kitchen -- which was all web based.
Can someone point me to a tutorial on how to get started with a WM6 kitchen?
Java Wierdness
Seems like something has permanantly damaged java -- I go back to the T-Mobile 2.26, then up to any package, and java doesn't work.

you will lose all of the data that is stored on the phone itself, what is stored on the memory card will not be erased.
As for the programs you will have to reinstall them and co pilot remember to deactivate this etc before upgrading all in the page when you download the rom from o2.
Also it is a rom update, from 6.0 to 6.1, the improvements are minimal apart from the speed improvements which should make it worth it for you to do if you want to spend the time reconfiguring it that is.
Hope that helps
You should NOT upgrade.
I did, and now I have only problems which I didn't have while on 6.0. You can find my posts in this forum.
On the other hand, if you have problems now, try upgrading.
But upgrade was, IMHO, my worst mistake.
yeh but the difference is that your upgrade is the htc leaked rom that appeared on here??? htc still havent realeased the full 6.1 upgrade for the polaris, if they have then it slipped by me.
The one the person is talking about is the o2 6.1 upgrade which i have been running for the last month and had no problems...yet but thats the same with anything it can always happen.

There are a couple of advantages to updating. You can easily google or wikipedia for details on how WM6.1 has changed. What's not mentioned is the compatibility you get with the newer HTC software. What I did was install the new rom, delete Opera 8.65, and install the Opera 9.5, the new HTC Album, new HTC Audio Manager, and new HTC Youtube app. Its like I have a new phone! But w/o many of the instabilities and bugs that cooked ROMS offer. Furthermore, it definitely cured my Xperia upgrade desires.
Worth noting is that yes, you will lose all information on the phone. So either move stuff to your storage card, or back it up on the PC. (Both of which you should be doing anyhow). Old text messages, and call history can be backed-up and recovered using the Sprite Backup that was included on your original CDs. In fact, I highly suggest making a complete backup using Sprite so that you can easily revert to your old ROM and restore your previous files/settings w/o any hassle if you have any issues with WM6.1.
Known Bugs for the official WM6.1:
-Touch scrolling doesn't work well in the Programs Folder accessed from HTC Home
-The music tab in HTC Home cannot be enabled by registry edits
Solution:
-Use either the Start Menu Programs folder or replace the Programs Folder with something like TouchLaunch
-Either don't use the Music Tab a la original configuration or install the latest copy of HTC Home by Schen w/o the brightness fix
I wish I had never upgraded to WM 6.1, with WM 6.0 my Orbit 2 worked perfectly well, never froze and Bluetooth worked with my Parrot hands free even to the point that the CoPilot voice came out of the speakers. Since upgrading I have experienced a number of freezes, the Bluetooth connects when it wants to and even when connected half the time it will not transfer a call, sometimes placing a call 5 minutes after it was dialled. I have been looking for an official O2 WM 6.0 ROM to downgrade to see if that cures the problems because I cant see any improvement in speed and most of the other "features" of 6.1 are of no real use, the threaded SMS being one I find most annoying.
@ chris10230
My signature says "Official" WWE ROM. Yea, from HTC site, when it went public! So no beta or leaked. You must have missed us yelling "New ROM is out". But that's no big deal.
@ Mace
Downgrading to WWE 6.0 did not solve same problems as your's that I (still) have. So I think we're stuck. Hopefully something will go seriously wrong with my Polaris, so I'll replace it while still under guarantee...
@ both of you, find more here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411883. Please read posts from page 13... posts prior to that are just guessing or talking about problems with download/validation of device serial number...

I had upgraded to 6.1 official and also various cooked. but nothing beats 6.0 - I have 62MB free memory even after installing all my required prog's have even got SPB shell and Greatbal's manila theme - best of all world's
Am now on Panosha's Butterfly and enjoying the peace, tranquility
6.1 - give's you memory leak's, battery drain and most important eats most of the available memory due to all the new features like M2D, M3d, 3d Drivers etc...
Now if only I could figure out if Manila is installable on v6 then I have everything I need !

Ok, so you have the ADP1 phone, but are running an RC (read - NON-ADP) firmware. And what is shocking is that you think you still have an ADP1 phone. Sure the hardware is the same and you have that fancy back cover, but if the software says RC - that is the only thing the market can see. So that is how your phone is identified as an ADP or "Normal" phone.

His signature says he has this phone:
Phone : ADP1
Bootloader : Hard SPL
ROM : JF 1.43 ADP 1.1h
Yes kathi but what he's saying is, the OP is not running ADP firmware so the market has no idea what the back cover looks like or how much he paid for his phone.
As far as the market is concerned, he's running a standard T-Mobile G1 with RC33.
Kinda like if i boot my mac into Vista... I'm not going to get apple updates, i'm going to get windows updates... MS doesn't know (or care at least) that i'm on mac hardware. They just know I'm running windows.
Sorry Man You R Wrong,
If It was so that changing the firmware, would show paid apps,
Even Going to JF RC versions frim ADP versions would fetch me 1 or 2 paid apps...
Changing the firmware dosen't change the whole phone info...
The information Regarding Paid Apps Is stored on a lower level which dosen't change by a change in firmware...
What I Think Is May Be The Change in Radio Can Do This because The Radio Partition is not accessible via the UI
OR
Also The Bootloader Changes May Be Responsible This,
As Magic Rom Has An Option To Change The Radio & Bootloader ... These Require Recovery Mode to Be Flashed & Which Are Not Provided In The Source...
Haykuro,
First Off All, Thanks For Magic ROM,
Need To Ask U Some Questions:
1. Where Did The Radio & Bootloader Come From & Did You Did Any Changes To It ?
(May Be It Was Updated OTA I Know Bootloader Comes OTA)
Ok, well I just looked closer and I see that you are still running an ADP firmware, it's just a JF build.
I assure you though, when I put ADP firmware on my phone, I can't get protected apps.
When I put an RC firmware, I can.
The market blocks apps based soley on your firmware, not the bootloader or radio.
ADP = no protected apps
RC = no restrictions
As far as how you were able to see Quick Office, I have no idea. So on that note, I digress.

No Its Not ADP Firmware The Firmware Itself Means The Build
i.e. Firmware Means:
1.0, 1.1, 1.5,...
& Build Means:
ADP1, ADP1.1, JF ADP1, JF ADP1.1, RC, JF RC, haykuro 5.0.2H, haykuro 5.0.1G, ...
So Firmware & Build Dosent Matter...
Fair enough, you've got me on semantics.
Up until the 1.5 firmwares (Haykuro's builds) started hitting up the market, the standard restrictions were as I stated above.
At this time, as far as I know, nobody knows what's going on with the Market. Since Google released the 1.5 SDK, maybe they're now making changes to the market to either purposely block 1.5 firmware until they're ready or maybe the market is truly being upgraded to only supply the correct version of apps for the correct firmware.
Either way, I stand by my original comment that up until now, ADP builds were not able to see protected apps, while all RC derivatives were. Now that RC33 includes both 1.1 and 1.5 firmware, I guess all bets are off until somebody can verify what's actually going on.

Oh, you are right. I looked back and saw his signature. I should have read his post over again and seen that he was using Haykuro's build.
I'm slapping myself in the side of my head!
edit: I went from the same JF version Sangreet had to the same Haykuro version he has now, and can also see protected apps. It's because Haykuro added the code to make the market think we are on RC33. As of last night, the G builds couldn't download on the market, but the H builds could. (I just got on here a few minutes ago, so I don't know if this has changed).

i already read somewhere that they lifted the ban on paid apps partially .. something about paid apps that don't encrypt or something or other .. i don't recall the exact wording the press used but some apps have been made visible to ADP for at least a month or so
Hope that's true, and ado. Users see paid apps atleast on official ROMs
Hiya's, just a question about the ROM Update that is located on the HTC website. Can anyone tell me what it does and is it something that does good for the Cruise..
Link to the Update here
Also the HTC Update to WM6.1 indicates that the "Download is not suitable for my device". Its definitely a Cruise and I fairly sure it is version 6. Any one know why its not suitable? I have emailed HTC a couple of weeks ago but have got no response so far..
What the ROM does is explained on the HTC-site itself. Nothing big, fixed some bugs. The main reason for me was the fix for the keyboard (it now remembers the keyboard you last used instead of displaying the touch keyboard as a default).
Had some trouble with high battery drain on this new ROM and imap email that could not connect, but that's fixed.
It's working fine now. Did not have any 'device' problems like you mentioned.
Please do search this forum.
There was enough written about update issues, including your "not suitable" issue.
As a hint, look for my posts...
So from what I can gather, HTC basically announced the upgrade to 6.1 and then didnt follow through..
Oh, it did.
But only for devices not obtained trough vendors (Vodafone, T-Mobile...).
And with some problems 6.0 did not have (including sync with multiple PC's)
I hate to have to make such a thread, but ALK (the company that makes CoPilot) has informed me of something that they have neglected to mention to anyone purchasing CoPilot Live 8 for their HD2.
The HD2 specific version of CoPilot does NOT bring the map updates that CoPilot advertises
They mentioned that while they have come out with updates for their maps it's only for the REGULAR version of CoPilot. For now, the HD2 version (which I'm sure all HD2 users have purchased) does NOT come with this. So what does this mean? You would have to reinstall your CoPilot program as a normal GPS program. Meaning it would not function with NaviPanel and other HD2 specific software. They are not saying WHEN or even IF they will come out with the updates for the HD2 maps, but in my opinion it's not worth purchasing now until it's fully compatible.
In my own experience. I can't say I like it simply because the maps and searches that I've done (on Live Search for CoPilot) are WAAAAAY out of date. I was looking for a specific hospital when their "live search" gave me an address of where the hospital was almost 12 years ago. Not good and NO excuse for such lack of maintenance. I'll leave it up to people here to decide if they want to buy it or not.
Timely but a shame. I was about to buy this as I've got the UK Tmobile HD2 just this week and it hasn't got CoPilot on it at all. I thought I could get the HD2 version from ALK's website (I think I'd save a tenner) but now maybe I need to buy the full blown version. Are CoPilot's versions of maps easy to identify?
Well, I don´t use the Navipanel since it´s a pain ita to change the backcover everytime for the car-cradle, I´m better off with the Brodit-car-cradle.
I made some fuzz at ALK-Europe for the map-update (I bought the HD2-version in Dec. 2009) and they sent me the original Copilot8 cab for install on SDcard without charge. Now I run the regular version and have no update problem with the maps AND copilot doesn´t eat up my valuable Storage mem.
That's why I'm using the regular version of Copilot on my HD2.
And it works fine.
I indeed remember that when I tried Copilot special HD2 version (trial included in my original ROM) most of the maps were out of date and wrong.
I can't see any point is using the HD2 version, the regular is fine!
I bought cp 8 when It came out, before I even had a HD2, (but was using the test roms)
navipanel seems a gimmick to me, something that I tried once and never bothered with again.
Where are the maps located? In the Copilot folder, right ?
So why not download the regular Copilot version (2577 + Copilot) and then replace just the 2577 folder with the one dedicated to the HD2 (downloaded separately).
Just a suggestion. Could this possibly solve your problems?
@Phenomenon - can you tell me what version of Copilot you mean as a standard version? I'm using ver. 8.0.0.659 -
thanks
Where can I download the generic version of CoPilot? I'm hoping to free some memory, try out the newer maps and upload my tracks with CP Central. It's not that there's much difference between the 2 applications!

Mmm. It occurred to me too but I can't find it. I can download the HD2 version but not the generic. For the former I was sent a link to the full version and just have to enter my details and download the maps etc. that I bought. Getting the HD2 trial is easy too but I cannot find the other anywhere.
ALK have supplied the links to the generic version of CoPilot, together with instructions as to how to install both versions from scratch. They were very quick to reply. I still can't find a link on the website.
Does anyone who has tried the generic version know whether it is necessary to de-register the installed version before trying the device-independent application when re-installing to the same device?
iGO8 people, iGO8!!
I bought the CoPilot 8 Live for my Touch Pro and then changed to the HD2.
But, after I installed the regular CP8 I downloaded the HD2 update software "found link with google in UK" and installed, I have the HD2 version and I do get the map updates...
This does work fine as I've performed the same thing above several times while upgrading roms.
On another note, the website says you can't switch your license to Android from another OS ie: Windows Mobile.. but I'm going to try to deactivate my license on CP8 in Win Mob and reactivate in Android...who knows hopefully it will work...

I'm sure that the web site said it was alright to move between WM and Android when I bought CP8 some months ago. Moving to an iPhone was not possible. I'll see if I can find the page in my archive. I can't believe that I misread it. I think the text is ambiguous now but I'm fairly certain it has changed as well.
You might try contacting ALK and see what they have to say.
