Hi, my tytn II are crasy, i can connect to internet in 2g an hsdpa but in 3g it´s impossibel, and is very intabel the signal, normaly it goes from 3g to 0 of signal. i´m using schap´s 4.21 radio 1.27.12.17 and protocol version 22.45.88.07H.
Any idea? How can i see if is an hardware or software problem?

Software problem. Many of us are waiting for HTC to finally release a decent radio ROM with stable 3G support.

Can't get UMTS in US on ATT

I'm using my Orbit 2 in the US on ATT and can't seem to get full 3G. I can get HSDPA, but not UMTS.
I'm using the original 1.58.25.14 radio and Bepe's .65 WWE Premium.
Is anyone else in the US having this problem?
Will it change by upgrading my radio to 1.64.08.21???
Thanks

HSDPA is 3g

When you are in an area with UMTS then 3G will be displayed, when you start transfering data H will be displayed.

LOL - I just got a pm from someone...

The 3G (and HSDPA) work on the UMTS network... RT(F)W: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS
Also, be happy you only get the 'H' icon... that mean you're on the 3G network and HSDPA is available, and that means more download speed than the standard 3G networks speed.
H and not 3G
I thought I had a problem as well.
Actually I get "H" icon all the time in Cincinnati. It actually is 3.5G, was just in Florida, Orlando area and I then got the 3G icon.
The H is alot faster for downloads for sure!!
These are the times when I hope some ppl are just trolling on the forum...

Please not that if you are on T-Mobile USA's network there is a 10gb soft data cap implemented so that if you go over 10gb you may be forced back to the edge network until your next billing cycle. If you are on another network I cannot speak to their data terms of service.

I think the magic does have too strong a preference for 3G networks. I've heard of similar cases where people have a really weak 3G connection and a strong 2G connection. Still the phones chooses the useless 3G connection.
Is it like this everywhere or just at one location?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I am indeed in this condition ... often the phone tries to select a useless (very weak) 3G connection and ends with a "X" on the signal bar before going back to 2G, then again 3G -> X -> 2G. It's very frustrating: the only fix is to lock the phone into 2G.
Maybe this is the same problem as the original poster (he should try in a well-known 3G area to be sure): do you know perhaps if there's some way to fix this changing the 3G/2G priority ? Like editing the build.prop, kernel parameters, or whatever

Will Hermes 200 work on new Bell HSDA network in Canada?

I checked the specs on pdadb.net for my beloved HTC Hermes 200 (3.54.255.3 ROM) and it says that it works on the HSDPA networks. But when I contacted the Bell reseller to confirm, they asked me for my IMEI, and then told me that it wasn't fast enough to run on the Bell HSDA network.
I'm suspicious. Can anyone corroborate that Hermes will/won't work on HSDA? I don't need data, only voice and text, as I access net thru 802.11 wifi.
That would depend on what version of the Hermes you have. GSMArena says that there is an American version:
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_tytn-1659.php
that has the 850/1900mhz radio that you'd need to get GSM HSPA in Canada. Bell and Telus, unlike Rogers' GSM network, only has HSPA so even the voice and text is through 3G network and you'll need a phone that has that radio.

and mine has 850/1900 -- guess I'm off to Bell store to test their hspa sim card....thanks!
Just a quick update on this, tested with a SIM card on Bell HSDA and the hermes200 worked.

[Q] Use Xoom 3G in 2G band ??

Hi
I decided to buy a Motorola Xoom
but i have 3 question
if i buy Xoom 3G version :
1.can i unlock & use my own sim (operator support 2.75G=EDEG)?
2.can i use EDEG 2.75G (no 3G) ?
3.can i Send SMS by this sim cart (2G band)??
Thanks All and sorry for my Bad EngliSH :X
If by 3G you mean the Verizon CDMA Xoom (MZ600), you cannot use EDGE or any other GSM-based networks.
If by 3G you mean the soon-to-be released UMTS Xoom (MZ601,MZ603), you can use EDGE on any network.
