Anyone using T-Zone internet? do you need to do proxy setup to be able to access internet? I do. It just happened to me 2 weeks ago. Before I didn't need to setup this proxy, I just installed USA_Tmobile_WAP.CAB then everything just worked fine, even with my Sling media. But since I installed the T-mobile official ROM then I won't be able to access internet without proxy setup any more even I flash with different ROM. Then GPRS is connected but the page couldn't open.
Now no more sling media and live radio on my phone.
Please share some opinions.
i do this and it internet explorer and PUSH email works,

Are you paying for unlimited internet? If not then you DO have to use the proxy. If you are paying for unlimited internet you should be using internet2.voicestream.com

Hello all,
Recent owner, second-time poster!
I am having two connection specific issues that I am hoping to get a clear answer on.
First I cannot make HTC Home 1.5 (Emu's build) connect to the weather server with the T mobile 216.155.165.50:8080 proxy port open. Is there a workaround available for this? Interestingly, it works just fine to update over active sync!
The related question, an active sync one, is that pIE will not connect to the web when I am sync'ed up, even though its apparent that HTC Home Weather can! PIE works fine over GPRS (T-Mobile $6 plan) or WiFi.
I have already trolled around in the registry looking for a weather-related IP or proxy setting. There are obvious settings for location, but not for anything connection related.
I am running Jaguar 4.0b with HTC Home 1.5 and Home customizer Beta5. I purchased and installed the whole SK Toolkit (great program, worth the money). I also have more player and Voice Dialer.
This is my first ever smart phone, and I am trying to learn quickly. Thanks, all!
I'm having a similar problem with HTC Home weather and my t-mobile GPRS connection. I'm running XDA Mobile 6 R5 though. Everything works fine over WiFi but not with GPRS. Internet Explorer works over GPRS but drags its knuckles when connecting, it takes a few minutes once the connection is initiated. I've tried both settings for T-mobile data and neither works real well.
Shane
I have a familiar issue with Orange. All works fine except the weather update using Orange World GPRS.
Where can I change the connection that HTC Home uses to get the weather info???
I just got the T-Zones plan for $5.99/month and put in the proxy settings with the 8080 port for connections, Internet explorer works fine (but slow obviously), but no other program that uses the internet seems to work.. maybe its the settings? maybe the program has to use the proxy as well? any thoughts?
I believe the weather program may be timing out too fast. Dunno weather it's a registry entry or what that changes the settings for it. Or if it's even changable. Everything else works great over GPRS just not HTC Home Weather. Although it works fine over WiFi.
Shane
anyone ever have any luck with the weather downloading over proxy?
i have never been able to have the weather update from the tmobile proxy, I think it has something to do with some blocked port or something of the sort. I have looked for months for a workaround, only solution is to upgrade from the 5.99 plan to the full internet plan and it will work, but that wont happen everything connects fine except htc weather and some other application i had on my wizaed cant remember right now.
if you guys did some homework and did a search of the forums for specifically: htc home proxy, you would find the htc home proxy patch which lets you do exactly what your asking
thanks i found it and it works

How did you fix it? Please let me know.
Thanks

the fix is easy. remove that old proxy and change your wap to epc.tmobile.com.
Apologies if this has already been asked/answered, but have spent the last two days looking for a solution..
When connected via USB I cannot establish an internet connection, unless I delete the T-Mobile proxy setting.
I've applied the regedit edit that's been mentioned as a solution, but this didn't work.
Is there anyway to use the pass through connection without having to delete the proxy everytime?
The main annoyance is that the phone won't sync with my exchange server whilst connected to the PC. I have mail set up to sync with exchange server and all other items syncing with my PC. My Hermes sync'ed with anything and everything.
Thanks
just leave the proxy out.
T-Mobile's proxy is a pain in the arse and causes all sorts of problems.
I deleted the proxy from my connection on t-mobile nearly three years ago and on every single device i have had since. never had a problem since.
If the proxy is there, it affects ALL internet connections, so when you plug it in to your PC, it is trying to go through a Proxy that you can only access over GPRS.
that's why proxies are a PITA and should be deleted permanently.
and no, it should not affect anyhting if you delete it. or not that i have noticed anyway.
Thanks will give it a go when I get home.
Seem to be able to access internet without the proxy, but forgot my usb cable so can't test pass though at work.. fingers crossed!
When I deleted the proxy I couldn't then send SMS texts...?
That's a completely random coincidence. The proxy has nothing to do with SMS whatsoever.
you can of course make sure that you are using GSM for SMS. start>settings>connections>advanced network>SMS
set it to GSM. if this is already set, then it has nothing to do with the proxy.
Says "Your text message cannot be sent" after I removed the proxy. SMS is set to GSM. Could it have altered any other relevant settings? Have put the proxy back now but it still refuses to send the message.
Any ideas?
no, wouldn't have changed anything else. The proxy has no bearing on SMS whatsoever.
Like i said, i reckon it is just a coincidence, otherwise turning the proxy back on would have fixed it.
If it is set to GSM already try the other three settings as well.
and a soft reset of course....
Have found a cable and tested - still no joy after deleting proxy.
Connecting to PC, and items syncing with host PC are fine. Mail syncing with Exchange server fails and can't access internet via pass through.
Browsing and syncing with the exchange server is fine when not connected to the PC.
Btw kempas - SMS works fine after deleting the proxy setting, as it should do.
Steve
on the handset:
start>settings>connections>wifi (NOT Wireless LAN)> network adapters
set the drop down box to Internet.
On the PC:
Open Activesync>File>Connection Settings
Set "This computer connects to" to the internet.
Dunno what it is in vista, i have avoided it like the plague....
I did a soft reset and tried again (a couple of time) with no luck, unable to send text message.
Went to settings, connections and run through the network provider setup wizard, let it reset the phone and tried again. Settings 'seemed' all the same but SMS now sent without issue.
Will try removing the proxy again later and testing with another SMS.
EDIT: removed the proxy and sent an SMS without issue this time... So was a "completely random coincidence" as rhedgehog said.
Still can't access You Tube via it's mobile client though, at least, it still says no videos...
All now appears to do what I expect after removing proxy and following rhedgehog's advice. Pass through now works Many thanks!
Also appeared that the t-mobile proxy blocks Windows live and messenger

No, but it is against the t&cs to use IM software when on basic web n walk. Tmobile block the ports for IM software anyways, it seems for new customers since several old customers managed to get through.....i never could though, so the proxy would make no difference if it is on or off.
I personally am on wnw+ which is TOTALLY worth it for using the HSPA when out with my laptop on location.
Cheers for that. Won't really need messenger to be honest - but the proxy setting interfering with the pass through was annoying.

Log into My T-Mobile or call customer services and get the adult content filter turned off.
I think they blocked it to prevent kids blowing mummy and daddy's credit on watching videos.
Of course, Streaming is also against the T&C's of wnw standard, so it could be that this is why. I'm on wnw+ and had to turn off the filter to get it working.
Yep, that was it. Cheers for the reply...
so my phone has been fine ive used romeos and im now using proven
data was never an issue then today im having connection problems
i usually use the my isp connection but now when i try to connect i get the error saying it cant connect for an unknown reason

but if i try to check email it says "cant connect with current settings" skyfire wont work and kinoma freeplay wont work

what could the problem be?!
i think i know why because i have a special employee plan that just got changed and somehow the settings may be altered?
still need a fix though
no one has an idea??
i have set media net default settings and even downloaded the restore and remove proxy cabs tried both and still no
someone anyone?
go to setting-connections, then under media net click on manage exisiting connections
now click on the proxy tab on the bottom, make sure the second box (this network uses a proxy server) is unchecked...
I had the same problem when I switched to Proven
Go to e-mail account options(Menu>Tools>Options)>Choose an account>Edit account setup>Go to that page where Advanced Server Settings tab(click on it)> Under network connection choose MEdia Net. That should fix your problem. Do the same for each of yours e-mail accounts.

The only option I have is 'internet' (so I can't change it to Media Net. When I check my connection media net is the only connection I have though. Any ideas how to get that changed in my ActiveSync/Email settings?
use this cab..it adds a new connection named ATT GPRS which has a different dns..i have been using this since i found it and have never gone back because by utilizing these dns servers you get much better speedtest results and it seems to never have any connection problems..thing is you gootta use a tool like advanced config and go into connection settings in the program and disable medianet from being used as a connection because if both are active your device randomly chooses which to connect with so you gotta make sure medianet is no longer active..here is the cab

i guess next time it hsppens make sure the feature is the correct one on your account. call your regional account executive to check it out.
it happens from time to time because when medianet is on for quite sometime, it can't authenticate the phone. Easy fix is just to just disconnect from medianet then try it again. You can do this by sliding to settings and clicking on "communications." After that, just turn off data connection and reconnect.
I cant browse the internet on my phone if I set it up on 3G connection.I can download emails, connect to MSN Messenger just fine but I cant access any websites it just times out. Why is that? If I connect to a wireless access point I can browse to internet but Im not always around an access point and want to get it working via 3G connection. Do I have to make some sort of configuration on my phone or something?
You probably need to change your proxy settings. Either add or remove the hidden ATT proxy.
Ohh, how do you do that?
Ok I think I found it, I went into Settings, Connection manager and selected My Proxy, its not checked but I did select the connection type to Vodafone live which is my carrier. I also found a program that I have which was called disable proxy and it installs but I cant find the application anywhere to run it, all it said was disable proxy.cab was installed. Damn this is annoying trying to figure out the network connection settings. I cant find that "Hidden ATT Proxy" but.
If you're not on ATT, you won't have the ATT proxy. I don't have a data plan, and am clueless about connection stuff, but I've had issues using PIE over wifi with the stupid ATT proxy.
Nope Im not connected via ATT. I am connected to Vodafone Australia. Its bizare,I actually deleted my proxy thinking that was it, but I still cant browse the web. Man I want my phone to work so I can access the web. Its handy when Im at work or traveling especially now that NBA is startling lol.
Check your selected networks in advanced connection settings. Since you're on Vodaphone I don't know what they use, but I change mine to MediaNet for AT&T.
@Farmer Ted, this may be your issue with PIE over WiFi.
for me... all i had to do was go to settings>system and press "Update PRL" and then "Update Profile"
I'm with Sprint though... and that's what they did for me.
Call your provider up and ask
If none of the above works, your best move is to just flash a custom rom. Then everything will work the way it's supposed to.
