Now I looked everywhere to see if there was a solution to my problem but couldn't find any. But I've flashed NBD 8 to my 8125 CID locked. Everything seems to be working fine except that the contacts won't work. Is there a way to fix this, or does my CID HAVE to be unlocked for it to work? Thanx! =)
what is wrong with your contacts? Are they not showing up?
try this to Hide/Show SIM contacts
Registry: HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone
Key: ShowSim (dWord)
Value: 0 = hide
1 = show
Im locked and contacts are showing up fine in NBD 8. Might be a stupid question but did you check your sync settings to be sure your syncing your contacts? Might want to reflash if thats not the case, be sure to use wizard love or factory rom first.
did you restore your contacts??
if yes, try to rename pim file which located on 'My Device' using your file explorer to any name, then reset the device, then check if contacts app opened or not, if opened so the problem with the way you used to restore the contacts, note: this way will erase your contacts.
Are you restoring backup of WM5 to WM6 with SPB Backup or other program? WM5 contacts data are not compatible with WM6 (You can backup using ActiveSync or Pim Packup instead)
hey guys i hard reseted my device while i had NBD 8 on it and now it is stuck on a screen with "NBD" on it. can anyone help???
Try removing your memory card. Insert it after restarting is complete.
yoz
this may be a stupid question but did you try to add manually with sim manager?
Could be a bad flash, just hard reset and see if it fixes it, happened to me before after flashing. Nowadays, I double check if my contacts open correctly andt hen start customizing..
Trying NBD8.0 now... thanks to Zoki...

and when i check programs i see there are programs that are installed but the icons are blank, and they wont launch.. i also tried rom ranju, same thing...
What am i doing wrong? I serached but i couldnt find any links, if it is posted somewhere, can u please send me a link at least

RE:
Did you unlocked your mobile, goto the sticky note on WM6 that tells you how to unlock your phone first
for the sddaemon message, goto \windows\startup
yo will find a shortcut for sddaemon, just remove it

Hi,
Sounds to me as though you have not cleared your storage after having flashed the roms...... did u hold the two soft keys on the keyboard whilst pressing the reset button and then selecting 0 to clear the storage.
Failing that I wouls use MTTY to restore your DOC.
@mehegazy: if my device is locked how did i install wm6 at all? i can install wm6 and wm5 without a problem, and i can install programs manually...works perfect. problem seems to be with specific roms that install programs automated at startup.. Also removing the shortcut from the startup actually doesn't resolve the problem, cause that means that program is not working...
@beast0898: i ve cleared the storage, that can't be the problem..
Funny thing is, after reboot it installs some programs and resets without a problem. But i see that some programs are installed and some of them has blank icons that do not launch..
Also is there a wm6 rom that actually modified for the best performance of system + without apps?
thanks all for helping
Hi, I was using the guide here: http://karhoe.net/content/view/21/1/#josc641 to upgrade my phone from WM5 to WM6.1 using Standard ROM from XDA-Developers, made by illi & rickywatt.
before flashing, i transferred a copy of the pim.vol file to my computer. after flashing, I try to transfer it back into the new WM6.1 OS to restore my contact. But after that, when i try to access my contacts, just the title page pops up momentarily for like 1 second and then it's gone.
anyone know how to fix?
thank you

why u not use PimBackup before flashing?
i didn't know such a software existed. excuse my ignorance.. what can i do now?
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=269237
Looks like the structur of the pim.vol file changed from WM5 to WM6. I'm afraid you're copy is useless unless you find a way to extract your contacts.
A solution might be to reflash WM5, use your pim.vol-copy to restore the ontatcs & then use another way of backing up your contacts before flashing WM6.
Hi guys,
is there a solution yet for my problem?(posted may 2008):
just got a member here and i have a huge problem. I own a Samsung SGH-i780 and i've resetted it like a 100 times!
I use activesync (XP) to sync my contact and calendar from outlook 2007. At first all goes well, and everything looks oke. But when i turn off my phone and restart it all synced items get stuck. I can't access my contacts or calendar anymore! I used to get all kind of errors and crashes (cprog.exe/atu_nitzz.exe-or something crashes)
Can anyone help? Same story when i sync trough Vista with Mobile device center.
Thanks in advance for all the help!!
greetz,

After my post, i got a reply from someone with the same problem and then some crap with nike promotions (allowed on xda?)

nobody?sucks...
hello?........
oke, think i fixed it myself (thanx anyway?)
Solution that worked for me (finally) ( tested it by soft resetting and removing battery, contacts and calendar kept ok!)
everything has to do with a corrupted pim.vol in root folder.
to do:
1. connect via usb, rename pim.vol in root folder (i.e : pimcorrupted.vol)
2. do a soft reset, will create a new pim.vol next to other one. remove old one and sync and everything goes well!
3. best to copy new pim.vol to SD card for backup.
Ps: if your question is : is it the same as a hard reset (also creates a new pim.vol) the answer is i think not. That pim.vol is the same as the corrupted one before, only cleaned.(also very out dated, mine is 07/2007!) So maybe solution is also to upgrade firmware.
Hope this helps,

Hi Swantony001,
I bought the sgh-i780 some days ago and I' having your same problem.
Did you find what is the real cause of the problem ?
thanks in advance
Here is my situation:
I had a HTC Touch Pro T7272. A few days ago I lost this phone but ordered a new one.
I ordered the same phone, but it may have a different ROM/Radio version
For the phone I lost, I have a full backup, from 3 weeks ago. I also have the updated synced files from the day before I lost this phone. I had done a lot of tweaks and added many programs, so it would be best to restore the full backup to the new phone.
1. When the new TP arrives, should I load the Sprite backup (an .exe file) onto the new phone and run that?
2. Then sync to my desktop to get the latest file updates?
3. Do I have to load sprite backup onto the Touch Pro first? Or can I just load the backup file and double clip it to execute Restore?
4. I have .net 3.5 loaded on my desktop. Do I need to load this onto the TP BEFORE I do the Restore?
Any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

1- You can - although it's not necessary if the backup file you created is self-restoring.
2- Yes after you've run your backup.
3- No, see my #1
4- No, unless the last backup you have doesn't include it.
Thanks for your advise C. My head is still spinning from losing my phone.
If the restore somehow messes with the phone (let's say it's got a new ROM and slightly different registry), you can always then backup your PIM data with PIM backup 2.8, then do a hard reset and restore the PIM data. If you want to get fancier, you can look through your registry and find the settings that you'd like to keep, and export those reg keys to your sd card, then import them back after a hard reset.
Since the backup file is an .exe file, can I run it from the micro sd card in the phone, or does it have to be run from the desktop?
I am sorry to tell you but, after updating to the new ROM, I tried to restore a backup taken with the old ROM and I had major problems, one of them being that the screen would not rotate when sliding out the keyboard, so I ended up hard-resetting and reinstalling all applications one by one....
Wouldn't you be better off restoring using the same ROM (as used in the backup), THEN upgrading ROMs?
This reminds me though, I don't know which ROM I had in my lost phone. Therefore I might have to reload eveerything one by one...ERRRR
Hi,
I recently did that after upgrading the ROM. I can say it works, but I'm not sure, if there are any files from the new ROM that have been replaced by old versions. You'd probably be better off just restoring your PIM data only...
CU,
Cactus World
Now I am all messed up. Please help.
1. I just received my replacement TP phone. I loaded the backup .exe file onto it but it would not execute. Error message says missing a component.
How to I get sprite backup working again? It is on my desktop.
2. I need to load .net 3.5 onto this device. I can't remember where I got it from or how I loaded it. Can someone remind me. It is actuially already loaded on my desktop.
3. I need to reload the latest version of Google Maps. Does anyone have the link?
Thanks for the help. My head is about to explode trying to get this new phone back to the previous state.
Okay, I figured out 1 & 2.
Does anyone have a link to the newest Google maps?
Does anyone know the registry setting to remove an icon on the email tabs? After doing the restore, I have 2 icons that were linked to email accounts, that no longer work. How can I get rid of them?
My last phone had "Programs" in the bottom right hand corner of Today screen. This one has "Contacts" I prefer "Programs" Does anyone know how to fix this?
I apologize if I suck at describing some of these issues. I am still beating myself up for losing the phone.
http://www.google.com/gmm/GoogleMaps.CAB
And try this for fixing those orphaned accounts - worked for me:
http://nicolasmauri.blogspot.com/2007/01/wm5-utility-recover-your-lost-mail.html
hyachts, thanks for the help. this software from Nicolas Mauri might work, but I couldn't tell from his blog. You see I have 1 or 2 extra email icons that were left from a restore. Will this program get rid of those email icons? Also, it is in .rar format so I can't use on my comouters here. I have to try my office. Is there a .cab file in the .rar file?
One more request. Does anyone know how to add the "programs" choice instead of "contacts" on the home screen (lower right hand corner)
I installed a new ROM and the contacts i had on my phone are all gone. I have a G1. The contacts i had on my google account are still there, but the ones i added the past 6 months on my phone manually are gone. I saved my entire SD card to a folder on my desktop. I cant find them on there. Is there anyway I can recover my contacts? Its not on the SIM card either.
Losing contacts after flashing to a new ROM ? Of course this happens, that is why one should use the free PIM Backup application.
Sorry to inform you about this..
And no, you can not retrieve them in any way! There is no UNFLASH / UNFORMAT / UNDELETE on WM / WP, yet.
How about recovery? I think i backed up my phone at reboot menu earlier. I have recovery.img
try it!
Try it! Though do not expect miracles.. I know I never did, because I do not have an utility which enables me to 'browse' such an image, let alone 'change' it in any way
Anyway, maybe you have some luck? Some welcome luck
Please let us know if you have solved it.....
