I would like to set up a RAMdisk (with the tools that are available here), but I have two files that I would like to have copied to the RAMdisk when I start the thing. Is there a way to do this automatically?
Thanks in advance!
the way ramdisk works is that if you copy 2 files to it they will stay there untill you hardreset or the device loose power
if you want to auto copy files to the ramdisk after a hardreset you can just add a shortcut to the program copying the files in your \windows\startup
or add and auto install cab to the extended rom
Are you sure you mean hard reset? This is the generic ramdisk I'm gonna try out, not the one made for the modified WM5 ROM's, like the Blue Angel. If it really stays there, I'm very happy! I just thought that it didn't survive a soft reset.

Finally managed to flash my mda with a bigstorage rom
All is good but I got a slight prob with something else. Although I hated the customisation of T-Mobile, I found it helpful that the phone automatically installs all the progs and settings in the extended ROM after a hard reset.
With BigStorage, I presuming that the Extended Rom folder is amalgamated with the Storage folder. Do you guys know whether it is possible to add the Cab files (e.g. intellidialer, etc...) to the Storage folder (as it was in ExtRom) so that it automatically installs the progs and customization options after a hard reset?
Or do you recommend going back to a traditional Extended Rom inclusive ROM and edit the Extended Rom there? I understand that ROMKitchen cannot be used on Mini's so do you happen to have any other program recommendations?
If the above two isn't possible yet, is there anyway of preventing the mda from deleting the Cab files after I install from them. For instance, when I install Intellipad, the cab file is automatically deleted. I had hoped that I may use this cab file again by dumping it in the "Storage" folder and using it if I need to hard reset the damn thing again
Thanks again
Hi rockykabir
sorry first for my english... I will try to explain my solution:
1. I have made a backup of all the Extended_ROM files to my PC (open in explorer loadvdisk.exe and copy through activesync.)
2. Made the Bigstorage and the Radio-Update (thanks a lot guys for the help that I have found in this forum.)
3. Made a small CAB-File which has to start first (see atached file)
4. If this file is installed, you can create a hidden and read-only folder on the SD-Card named: 2577 (Foldername is important)
5. Place inside this folder: autorun.exe and install.m2w and make the changes in the instal.m2w file. Think its easy.
6. Place all the recent CAB-Files into this Folder.
7. Make changes as you need
Make sure, that the folder and the files on the SD-Card are read-only and the folder should be hidden (not sure about that). If not, the Cabinet files will be deleted after installation.
How do I work now with this SD-Card? Easy... After a Hardreset, place the card into your MDA. Start Ext_Start.cab.
Put out the SD-Card and put it in again..... Enjoy.
Now i search only for an easy solution to make a small Extended_ROM for the Ext_Start.cab and the IIWPO. That task will be the next...
Enjoy the day
Thanks sooo much mate!!! - thats very kind of you as this completely solves my prob. I hope this is of use to others as well
Hei everyone!
I flashed a wm6 rom ,but it can not auto run the extended_rom.
what should i do?
i edit the default.rgu like this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm]
"TurnRadioFlag"=dword:0
"AutoRunCFG"="\\Extended_ROM\\config.txt"
"AutoRun"="\\Extended_ROM\\autorun.exe"
and build the rom again, but it still not run .
i am sure there are autorun.exe and config.txt in it, and the config.txt's content is right too.
what should i do now ???
Don't bother editing the RGU but instead place your Autorun.exe and config.txt in the Dump folder after you run the bat which builds the modules so it ends up in the \Windows folder and then it will run the cabs from wherever you have placed them including the Extended Rom so long as you have configured them in the config.txt.
Replace your autorun.exe with a newer version.
i changed the autorun.exe but it is still not run.
and i use change another os rom it can install !
who can help me !

Make sure you have checkautorun.exe in your startup folder. If you dont, it wont even look for the autorun.exe.

i add the checkautorun.exe to the startup folder and flash it again, but it stoped at the setup screen. i reset it ,it still stop there.
are you cooking this or are you doing this to an already flashed rom?
I have been messing around with cooking roms for a few weeks now. I have cooked up a rom (New Att Rom) that has these numbers.
Total Storage: 166.16mb (Free 164.27mb)
Total Program: 101.38mb (Free 75.28mb)
I am trying to make this Att rom as clean as possible. I have removed abosultly everything that I can. I have a few questions though as Im being kind of a perfectionist. When I load up my rom and go into the registry I can find traces of old programs that were removed from the rom (for example transcriber or sim manager registry keys) I have edited the proxml files and they are not the curlprit. I have checked the .RGU files and there is only two in the whole rom (one is boot.rgu and the other one has only one entry in it) I have also checked the initflashfiles.dat file and edited it but it doesnt have the registry keys I am looking for either. Where is the main part of the registry in these roms?
Another question I have is why the dsm files (when opened in a text editor) show other programs or files in them. I would like to delete the microphone, clear storage and key lock app or the TTY icon in the settings screen. I have found these files in the DSM files but they cant be deleted. Is there a way to edit the dsm files or are they updated when other changes are made?
Lets say I load the stock att rom on my phone and make changes to the registry (add or remove registry settings). Then if I dump the rom, will the registry changes be saved when I use the dumped rom in cooking a new rom?
Has anyone figured out a way to get the memory back when a memory card is placed into the phone? I would be around 79mb free program memory (before speed tweaks) if someone figures this out!
I will have a few more questions probably but I cant remember them right now. The rom I have made is working very well and is stable. I just want to make sure all of the trace files in the registry and other places are gone. Thanks for the help
All of the pros must be working on their own roms, look at how many have been updated! Someone must know the answer to a few of these questions. I dont mind doing the work I just need a few hints!

Default.hv and User.hv are the default and user registries where you will find the entries.

There's a app that does it in the general section under hacking IIRC search for build dsm that should bring it up.

I beleave the answer to this is no... the dump you get is the unmodiffied ROM you have after flash it... all changes after this are not dumped.
Cheers.
Great info thanks guys
What program do you use to edit the default.hv and user.hv? Thanks again

You can not edit directly, you must convert from .HV format to REG (text) format using RGUCOMP.EXE (included in KaiserKitchen) to edit, and once edited, convert back to .HV with the same tool.
Code:
dump default.hv:
1. SET _FLATRELEASEDIR=.
2. RGUCOMP -o default.hv -nologo > default.txt
3. Add 'REGEDIT4' (first line)
4. Last line MUST be empty
5. Save as UNICODE
... edit the txt file ...
build default.hv:
1. rename default.txt to boot.rgu (same folder as RGUCOMP.exe)
2. SET _FLATRELEASEDIR=.
3. RGUCOMP -b
4. rename boot.hv to default.hv
Cheers.
Great info. I have cooked up a rom and I am having a hard time figuring out what is causing the screen delay in my registry settings. Does anyone know what setting is causing like the three second delay in the screen going from landscape to portrait? Thanks
SO if I understand you correctly.
I can open the files, edit in all of my reg edits (particularry the ones I can not export) and recompress it with RGUCOMP.EXE and cook my edits into my rom ?
Ok I tried this and finally figuted I have to do it from a command line.
WHen I do
1. SET _FLATRELEASEDIR=.
2. RGUCOMP -o default.hv -nologo > default.txt
I get fronm the txt file:
dump default.hv:
1. SET _FLATRELEASEDIR=.
2. RGUCOMP -o default.hv -nologo > default.txt
3. Add 'REGEDIT4' (first line)
4. Last line MUST be empty
5. Save as UNICODE
... edit the txt file ...
build default.hv:
1. rename default.txt to boot.rgu (same folder as RGUCOMP.exe)
2. SET _FLATRELEASEDIR=.
3. RGUCOMP -b
4. rename boot.hv to default.hv
obviously I am doing something wrong, but I have no idea what.
Hi,
I accidentally replaced my nleddrvr.dll file without backing it up.
Could anyone send me the file or post it here for the WM 6.1 ROM
The original size was 14632 bytes.
Thanks a lot.
I would, but .dll are almost impossible to copy or move from the /windows directory. Your best best would be to do a hard reset, which erases everything off the device & goes back to stock condition
Actually you can extract dll files from \windows directory using ROMextractor utility in this thread 1571715 posted here. I've done it in WM 6.1
used ROMExtractor to get it. Was 14k before extraction, 16k after. Dont know if itll work, good luck.
Thanks a lot.
For any future references. Looks like replacing the dll file did not help. LED was still non-functional. I got around this problem by doing a full system backup using Sprite backup with the exclusion of the corrupted dll. Hard reset the phone and restored my data from backup.
We can't copy .dll from \Windows directory, not until you have unlock the security configuration.
Find a installer called security powertoy, install it on your window, run it, connect your phone with activesync and set the security to Security Off.
That will unlock your permission to copy dll from \Windows folder.
Hey guys,
I have a (german) HTC Diamond Pro (Raphael) and after "some" tweaking, I managed to install FRX.07.1. Problem is that I can't calibrate the screen. During the boot process, it says "Using saved screen calibration", even after I deleted the ts-calibration file from the directory. I tried a new kernel (Kernel 1225), the latest ts-calibration file- nothing changed. I don't get the five dots/spots to calibrate the screen, so it's completely messed up. I can't even unlock by swiping across the screen because of that....it's really frustrating and I'm extremely thankful for every bit of help. So: What can I do?
Summary:
- screen can't be calibrated, is messed up
- I tried other ts-calibration files
- I tried to force calibration by deleting the ts-calibration files
which raph? Mine is a Japanese raph 100, and I was able to make a calibration on the first install of frx 07. It was tough to do because the screen flooded with text but I was able to get it done.
Can you try to install frx06 or 07 to get a calibration file?
Have you tried THIS yet? Preferably after a format of the microSD
Alternatively, you could save your current configuration by zipping up the contents of the microSD into a single file and then start fresh (after a format) and run the kernel mentioned to get the ts-calib file. After that, copy the ts-calib file to your computer and format your microSD. After you extract what you have saved, copy over the ts-calib file over as well and see if that works.
