Using Blackberry software with WM6 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Hi all
Sorry if repost - has anyone any experience with using the Blackberry software (in my case packaged by O2) with WM6?
My office are about to provide us with Blackberrys, and I would rather use the Universal that I already have if poss. Not interested in the contacts and calendar thing - just the email interface really
Thanks all
JJ

Need Verizon "Wireless Sync" CAB from xv6700

Hey All,
Doing some hacking here...
My company only supports Verizon phones connecting to out Intellisync environment for access to our Exchange environment. Well I'm a Cingular user and don't want to switch. I've gotten a co-worker to grab the Verizon Wireless Sync software from the Verizon web page (rebranded Intellisync product) for me but it's only the WM2003 version. This version does actually work well, but I'm looking for WM5 perfection!
For all their WM5 phones the web site says "included in your phone" so what I was hoping for is that some nice soul with either a Samsung i830 (I know wrong forum) or a xv6700 (Apache) might be able to extract out the Wireless Sync CAB file and post it or shoot me a link or PM.
If not does anybody know where to get the latest WM5 version of Verizon's Wireless Sync product or maybe the Intellisync counterpart?
Any help appreciated - there's got to be more than one way to skin a corporate email system.
Thanks,
-JMS
You can find it here...
I posted the cab installer in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43555
It will give you what you need - and is the full client, not the cripled one VZW offers. Use it on my 8125 and other WM5 devices...even those that talk to the VZW wireless sync server.
If you have the VZW client installed you should uninstall before installing this one.
Regards - John
Wow, once again the folks on this board are awesome.
Thanks so much, I'll give it a whirl, I really appreciate the help!
-JMS
Hey chybinj,
That worked beautifully, much smaller and better designed for WM5 than that older sync client I had.
Thanks again for your quick help.
-JMS
My pleasure...glad to help - I know my head hurt from all the whacks on my desk casued by previous versions.
If I get a newer version I will repost...may get an upgrade our server in a few weeks.
Regards - John

Skype or sip client

Have any tried to install skype on there Tornado and got it to work?? Or are there any SIP client there can work on a smartphone??

Kind regards
Jimmi Wolff

http://oregonstate.edu/~keiterk/?p=9
I use some prog for SIP but it's in Russian. Do u need it?
hey
mustafin, the SIP client you have which is in russian, could you please upload it to here so that perhaps someone can work on translating it into english
how does it work? does it allow you to use your sp5 as a voip handset through your existing voip account?
thanx

I will be much obliged to you if you can give it to me
Could you please also send it to me [email protected]. I appreciate.
What about the BeWIP client?
Sure, it's in french, but I bet you can use it for any WM smartphone. Do a google search, it's supposed to work on the Tornado.
personally, I've been using SJphone for Pocket PC, but ripped out the needed files and ran it on my SP5m.
It works well, but the interface is awkward since it was designed for a touch screen.
Has anyone found anything that works well and was designed for smartphone?
Download the Skype 2.2 for tornado and it works excellent. No delays or echo found..
http://www.skype.com/download/skype/mobile/downloading_smart_beta.html
Let me know how it works ?
yeah, I've used it.
I meant SIP so i can bring my existing VoIP provider with me.
I have GoSIP but again it's a french client
I'd give it a shot... I took a little french in high school...
Still looking for sip client for my sp5m. I installed Skype (not sip) and its working great. However, I would like to tap a sip client to our VOIP system we have at wrok.
SJ Labs - Did not releas one yet
All other I saw, are asking you to connect to a pre-define SIP server
Any help/tip is welcome.

I tried to get it form their site, but it seems that they want me to download it in stages through SMS (my french is rusty, but that's what it looks like).
Do you have the complete .exe or something that I could try?

Hey Acsguitar.
I think you're missing the point here...
Sure, you can have skype call a landline for a fee, and even have your own incoming number for another fee... But those of us who already have a regular VoIP-based landline phone number (such as with vonage or broadvoice) can call through their already existing service using their already existing number with the proper SIP compatible softphone.
I am able to take my home number with me when I travel using SJphone, but because it doesn't have a smartphone version, the interface is a bit buggy when you run it. I'm looking for something smoother.

Been using this Software from Peer 2 Phone for a while now and it works fine with my Voiptalk account, only downside is you have to ask them very nicely for it on an individual basis, and then they E-Mail it to you, there website address is: http://www.peer2phone.com/telephony.html
Hope you all have the success that I have with this SIP client, happy Hunting chaps,
Kind Regards Ashe

No!
You have to E-Mail them for the software, I am sorry I respect peoples software rights, I am just a bit ethical that way, however they will not have a problem, in fact they will be more that delighted to send you the software if you E-Mail them,

IM Clients for the Rapheal

I was reading in the kaiser and diamond threads about Im clients an was wondering which one people would recommend but also I am overseas a lot and travel quite a bit with my job and was wondering if there is an IM client out there that utilizes the front facing camera for chats? I ask this because searching has gotten me no where.
thanks in advance for any help

well actually... there's one client that uses the front camera:
ever heard of Netmeeting? it existed way before msn and yahoo.. at that time we (only) had mirc and ICQ those were the days..
anyways microsoft made a netmeeting client por ppc which uses the camera.. never tried it, tho. and the software only works by connecting to an ILS server (much like netmeeting). if you've never heard of Netmeeting, just go to Star->Run-> Conf.exe
about the ppc client.. you can _try_ here: http://research.microsoft.com/~jiangli/portrait/

yups, I use Smaper (formerly known as mChat by mGSLab.com)
http://smape.com/smaperfiles/wm/smaper106w_pe.cab
It's not easy to find the file (or even the description) on smape.com; but with babelfish and some russian translating it's fine (the program is not russian, it's multilanguage)
still waiting for the devs to get filetransfer working again (used to work until june or so, mgslab.com server is routed to smape now) but everything else is fine (ICQ, AIM, jabber, MMP, MSN...)
EDIT:
www.mgslab.com is rerouted, http://pda.mgslab.com/files.html and http://pda.mgslab.com still working. smaper 1.06 is the newer one though, it's an improvement over mchat 2.3.0.x
just my five cents hth

Tks for the link. When I click on it; it diverted to http://research.microsoft.com/mcom/portrait/ AND Microsoft Portrait doesn't work on Kaiser http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387327
this is one of the things that rly angry me in the wmob world.
had that idea long ago when i bough my magician: we had gprs (33.6k baud was more then enough), we had a built-in camera, we have im applications, how cool was to webcam mobily?
and now after 3 years microsoft didnt even cared to pull a wrapper for the phone camera(s).
care to know why not? THE CARRIES! that way they couldnt pull out the astronomicall but lucrative rates on video-calling.
f*ck the exploited capitalism. america has to pay now
i use slick and it works pretty well also free
trying them out
i am trying all the ones that you guys said you like and i looked up aim and got AIM mobile but whenever i try to connect i get " Connectivity error 12029"
and i dont think my wifi is working correctly.. any pointers
qip.ru has a WM client that supports ICQ und Jabber. Im using it on ICQ and Google-Talk. Very stable an no other Problems, even if running for more than one day over GPRS.
ICQ
If you want ICQ-only client,Pigeon is the best on Raphael. I have tried any others, but they have problems playing sound notifications.
Pigeon fulfills all my requests on ICQ client perfectly:
- History in textfile and fast to read back
- Vibration and sound notifications working
- Easy and fast to use
- Nice design with cool smileys
Don't forget to prove whether you client stores some data on the client's provider server! Agile Mobile and Palringo both use a web gateway to connect to Jabber or ICQ. In both cases all your massages and passwords travel through foreign servers. This isn't really nice.
QIP 2040 works really fine on both ICQ und Jabber, and there aren't any problems with notification, vibration etc. And it directly connects to ICQ und Jabber-Server. So there is some privacy!

Are you sure,QIP2040 is playing sounds correctly while in standby? My not.
Sorry for all,I forgot to write, that sound notifications won't play in standby(instead of Pigeon).
Yes, but I've disabled this cause of this anoying Uhoooh It still vibrates.
IM with video
Yo guys, still a bit confused here. Is there or isn't there a mobile IM application that let's you make mobile videocalls to MSN or Skype users?
No. See post #3, 8 and 9.
Pigeon! problems with Vibration
I just installed Pigeon on my Vario IV and everything's working perfect- besides notification with vibration. The sounds work perfectly...
Does anyone no what the problem is?
Do I have to mark both vibration modes or just one?
When I just pick one nothing happens.
Thanks for helping...

HTCs respons on the exchange matter

so.. i've mailed HTC about the exchange client not syncing if the exchange server requires a pin code...
ME:
hi, i have a htc magic and im really happy with it. the only thing i cant get to work is the activesync client. which, from what i can read from the net doesnt support exchange servers that requires pin. ive tried to download dataviz roadsync which can handle the exchange sync with no problem, but roadsync cant sync calendars. and i want to be able to use the built in activesync client.. so my questions is: when will you upgrade the activesync client to support the pin (enterprise security?) function??? this is a vital part of my everyday work
HTC:
Dear Fredrik, Thank you for contacting HTC Europe, and thank you for your feedback. As you state in your email the Exchange Server application does not at this moment support pin security. We don't have the information if and when that will be available. I would advice you to state your question to the Android Developer team at developer.android.com to see if they could supply you with more information. (We at HTC are only involved in software development that seams our specific phones to suit the Android OS). If you have any further questions or queries, feel free to get back to us at any time. Kind Regards Dave Montanya HTC Europe
seems to me that they're saying, "we didnt develope the 'activesync' client, go ask google".. but how come this software is only on the htc branded phones? so i replied with:
ME:
hi again, thanks for your answer, but from what i can understand, from what i've read online, the software for syncing with exchange in my HTC branded Magic is developed by you guys at HTC, because you cant find this software on the regular google branded htc Magic phones. best regards fredrik
-update1-
HTC:
Thank you for your quick reply. I apologize for my earlier reply, you are indeed correct that HTC develops the inbuilt Exchange Server application (I had to double check this). Unfortunately as for now I can neither confirm or deny whether pin security or certificate support will be supported by a future upgrade or not. The Android OS is a very new OS and I personally believe that the support for the above functionality will be included by future updates (this is my personal opinion and not that of HTC Europe). Kind Regards Dave Montanya HTC Europe
ME:
thanks for the fast response! i hope that it will be implented very soon as stated in my first mail, this is a vital part of my daily work and i dont want to go back to using my old phone can you let me know when you hear anything about the pin security function? Because this is a big issue, practically all the big companys that uses exchange has pin security activated. So im far from alone with this problem thanks again, Fredrik
-update2-
HTC:
Thank you for your quick reply, I do understand the importance for you using this. In the meantime, feel free to look for alternative applications such as Roadsync or the other available Exchange Server applications on the market.
If I get any more information within a reasonable time, I will let you know by email.
Kind Regards
Dave Montanya
HTC Europe
i guess thats the end of it
ill uppdate if i ever get that mail from Dave.
Interesting matter! I'm not too interested in exchange support because I use gmail I hope you can tear out some more info
I would rather that they didn't implement any MS-crap as it only serves to propagate the repression. Force people to upgrade to something that isn't proprietary instead.

We are talking about Communicator. Not the office suite.
IIRC, Office Communicator actually uses the standard* SIP protocol, so you may be able to use a SIP client such as Sipdroid.
*Keep in mind Microsoft's history on standards
EDIT: Wiki says it uses a modified SIP for presence and IM; so YMMV.
There is a company developing Communicator Mobile for Android (AndrOCS from WidgetMedia dot NET) - but there is no beta available yet (the say they will post it in a few days). I doubt it will work with CS14 - but at least will work with OCS2007R2.
AndrOCS works. thx
working on my Wildfire. Though I noticed that it disconnects frequently and sometimes the IMs are not displayed in the IM tab.
