Hi having some trouble with every WM6 ROM causing WSOD, usually if I try to go into WiFi settings of sound settings.
With every ROM I always have battery status installed and over clocked at 260Mhz, could this be causing it?
Any Ideas??
im no genius but i havent had my rom stable at 260, id say try 247 max and see how the stability is.
Always minimise changes... Turn off overclocking first (or dump batterystatus altogether until you get this figured out). See if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't then start removing everything you've added to your phone.
Or you could hardreset or reflash to see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't then you may have a hardware issue... I would drop back to your stock official WM5 rom at this point to see if it happens there.
Let us know what you find.

Hi,
I know this is probably a post that is seen a lot and the search function doesn't work for me (so if there is a current thread for this, please point me to it).
On XM6 my phone is pretty choppy, especially when text messaging the phone will lag behind and it gets pretty frustrating. I have installed battery status and enabled OMAP overclocking w/ CPU scaler with MIN: 143 Org. 195 and Max. 247. Is there any recommendations you guys would make to help this out, or does anyone else have this problem?
I'm having the same problem too... really frustating, takes forever to open text messaging and sometimes it hangs when u slide out the keyboard during text messaging

yup same problem for me. is this a problem everyone with XM6 is having? I love it otherwise though
Weird...I'm not doing any overclocking or anything else and it runs fine on my MDA. Sure there are some slow downs...but nothing more unusual than what I experienced with the original WM5. Haven't had a hang yet, but I've only been running it for a day now. Maybe constantly changing clock speeds with that Omap thing is causing issues?
yeah I thought about so I disabled the OMAP scaler, same issues though. I thought that maybe the calculating to change the proc speed would give it issues but apparently that isn't it. Possibly a reflash or something?
Not sure why this got pulled out as a seperate thread...
Do you have WeatherPanel running on your phone? I've found on mine that the gifdecoder.exe seems to periodically go into a looping fit, and sucks up all the CPU. I keep batterystatus indicator in the task bar now (so it shows up under the clock). If I see the cpu pegged at 100% I'll look and usually find gifdecoder.exe going nuts. I just kill it and things work again.
BTW: This seems to happen on all the Ingenetics based roms (not sure if it happened before that, but it did also happen on the Faria "the real thing" based roms like Crossbow Reloaded too). Not sure if this is an incompatibility with WM6 or what...
For me XM6 worked fantastic as long as gifdecoder wasn't going nuts. I'm actually trying out Pandora 3.2 right now while I start working on the next release of XM6.
That is a good question. What ROM are you running? I have Crossbow Reloaded 1.7 on mine. I'm also running weather panel and have voice command installed. The phone does lag a little when weather panel updates, so I set it to update every 6 hours (seriously...how much can a weather forecast change in 30 minutes?) so its not really an issue.
I would also be curious to know where you got the Omap overclocking and CPU scaler software. I've been looking for something that will only increase the speed of Pocket IE when I run that so I can get faster page rendering.

i dont have weatherpanel... crossbow reloaded doesnt lag that much compared to XM6.. XM6 got better bat life compared to crossbow though...
dunno which to use now...

Nope, I basically just followed the instructions to flash my IPL/SPL down then back up (button and then lokiwiz then back to tmobiles rom) and then I downloaded the XM6 RUU, flashed it, downloaded the GSM update and flashed that and then installed intent midlet manager, your comm manager 8button off the xm6 thread and the equinoxe retouched dialer pad.
Do you think just a reflash might help mfrazzz?
I've recently upgraded to the 040509 release of the EnergyROM.
However, it always hangs up, so I always have to press the soft reset button to restart. When it turns on, every data is gone, and it's as if my phone just hard-reset itself all of a sudden. What shows up when it turns on is "Tap the screen to set up your mobile device".
I thought it was a bug in the ROM, but when I downgraded to 032609 (probably the most stable release?), it happened again tonight. Any ideas as to what might be causing this?
Possible causes:
1. I dropped it a few times on the floor; it sometimes hits hard surfaces because I keep it hanging on my neck all the time
2. Bad Radio flash?
3. Bad/buggy ROM?
4. Bad flash? I forgot to hard-reset a couple times after flashing.
The reset thingy is a problem I also have, but in RomeOS2 rom. It's pretty annoying, looks like it hangs or something.
All the sms aren't gone here @ romeos, but when I tried EnergyRom it was gone when I did a softreset. I think it is in the rom.
I had the same problem when moving from EneryROM 32609 to any of the later ones. I love EneryROMs and didn't want to believe it was ROM related but then a few others reported the same problem.
However, I flashed a few other ROMs (6.1 and 6.5) and had no hard reset problems, then went back to EnergyROM 41609 and everything was fine.
Basically, it seems to help if you flash a Stock ROM in between custom ROMs if you have this spontaneous hard reset problem. It worked for me and several others I know.
Hope this helps.
I'm having an unusual graphics performance problem. This is different from all other complaints, as far as I can tell. Most raph graphics complaints center around consistent slower than expected performance. My problem is that non-3D graphics performance seems to decrease over time. Let me explain...
After my device has been on a while (sometimes a few hours, sometimes a few days), I will notice that when I click the start button to launch an app (yes I use the built-in start button lol), I can noticibly see the entries draw. If I go into an app that has heavy use of form controls (checkboxes, listboxes, textboxes, etc... all the built-in windows stuff), you can watch it draw all the elements on the screen. Scrolling just makes it worse.
However, 3D accelerated apps are just fine. For example, Manila draws as fast as ever. Even Opera draws fast.
CPU is not bogged down. Apps load quick, they just draw slow. If I open DotFred's task manager, I can confirm that the CPU is nearly idle and no application is bogging it down.
This problem seems to only affect GDI or win forms elements.
Does anybody have any clue what might cause this? Since I don't see anybody else complaining about this, I figure it must be something I did or installed, or something like that.
I'm using the Sprint stock ROM.
EDIT: Even if you don't know what's wrong, if you have any diagnostic suggestions, I would be grateful. I've tried terminating every running app and service that isn't system critical. I've tried different graphics tweaks suggested for WinMo. No luck. :-( Soft reset is all that fixes it. I may try a hard reset, but I'm just so satisified with the way my system is set up, I don't want to. Plus, "reformatting" is such a unsatisfying conclusion to a problem. I like to know why. LOL.
EDIT 2: I have reason to suspect it may be RSSHub's scheduled task to refresh feeds that may be the cause. I just disabled it. Will report later if this fixes it. I had almost 20 hours of no slow down and then as soon as i noticed it happening (painfully slow start menu redrawing), i saw RSS Hub had JUST started downloading a podcast. Let's see if this is the cause. *crossing fingers* I'm not 100% sure because I've killed RSSHub.exe before and the speed was still slow. So whatever causes the slowness doesn't stop until a soft reset, even if the process is killed (i'm guessing).
EDIT 3: It must have been coincidence because RSSHub hasn't run in over 24 hours, but I woke up this AM with a slow phone. Still investigating...
I know you said you'd rather not hard-reset, but still I suggest you to try a different rom (not a stock one). I use energyrom 2.0 on my raphael 100, which is unbranded. The rom is sort of 'made for' the fuze, but works fine on my tp. The only thing you have to figure out before you flash is how to fix the hadware keyboard, which is by default set to the fuze. I recall it's a simple registry change, but can't remember which one.
Good luck

I prefer to use the stock rom. First, I really like Sprint Navigation and Sprint TV. Second, Sprint support immediately stops talking to you if you use a custom ROM (and I've had to exchange my TP three times for different unrelated reasons -- bad luck I guess or poor HTC manufacturing standards). Third, hard resetting is just not as satisfying as actually solving the problem. I'm just weird that way.
EDIT: After "EDIT 3" (above), I'm closer to hard resetting, but I'll likely stick to the stock ROM for the afforementioned reasons... Unless after hard resetting it starts happening again, that is.

Hi there, I'm brand new to the forum and not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm kinda freaking out haha...
Just rooted my leaked v3 droid eris a couple days ago and I'm digging it. I have evil eris v3 and I was running setcpu on it and that is where my problem arises. I realize anything I do with it is my responsibility but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas. I had everything set up great was oc at 710 and had it set for "set at boot." I thought I would try a little faster and in the process of switching speeds it froze up. I didnt think much of it, a battery pull and reset got me back to my main screen. But when I looked at my setcpu widget, it said max 0000, min 0000. And shortly after that it froze again. Problem. So now my phone's cpu is "set to boot" at 0000. I have about 30 seconds of time before all hell brakes loose on my phone to try to fix it, but it takes about that much time for the programs and other things to load.
If you have any info to help me at all that would be so great!
Try reflashing the kernal.
But likely you are going to have to load a backup from recovery.
Don't use Set on Boot until you are positive the setting you have are stable!
thanks, i ended up wiping data and reflashing evil eris. wish someone had told me not to use the set at boot! thanks for the help, problem solved.
Feel free to use Set at boot, it is a good setting, but it can backfire on you if you use unstable settings so just make sure what you have is stable before you set it!
I am getting random reboots and I am unable to figure out what is causing the problem and I have not found any thread about random reboots with the Captivate.

Provide us with more information. Is your phone rooted, on a custom ROM maybe, what have you been doing to your phone, when did this start happening, etc.
History
I started with stock, rooted, non-market apps, unhelpful kernel v1.2, removed AT&T bloatware. LCD density @ 180. Tried One Click Lag Fix v1.0 and v2.2 and uninstalled. Juice Defender to manage 3G. Juice Plotter to track battery.
After messing around with it, I encountered a reset of the default launcher selection each time I long pressed the home button to bring up the recently used programs. I then did a hard reset and that fixed that problem. After the hard reset, my Captivate ran great! I found it responsive and fast enough without the need to try and apply any lagfix.
I then reinstalled my selected applications. My phone started to randomly reboot about once a day. I noticed Juice Plotter's data would be lost and it had to rebuild. It also happened to reboot on me once while I was using it. Other than that, it has not really affected my usability.
If it hasn't affected your usability, do you want to fix it?
If you do want to fix it, then the best way is to restore to Stock and add things slowly until you determine the problem. If you return to Stock and it still reboots, then you have a hardware issue.
It doesn't "quite" affect usability but it is not working "normally" either.
Was hoping to see if anyone else have experienced random reboots and how to troubleshoot it. If not, I will try out Odin one-click flash to stock...
