MDA + wm6 (faria) + Internet sharing + BT

I have searched for the last 3 days and can not come up with anything.
I upgraded to wm6 awhile back and on wm5 I was using dialup networking which worked perfectly.
Now with wm6 I guess you dont have dun anymore, so there's something called Internet sharing.
I found the Internet sharing feature 2 days into my trying to get dun working.
So my problem is Internet sharing does not seem to work.
I run the Internet sharing apps on the mda wm6 phone and it seems like its doing something as it says "connected"
,but when I try and find a bluetooth service from the laptop the only service available is serial port.
I tried using the microsoft bluetooth drivers and figured they were crap and not working so I got the d-link drivers finally working and still nothing.
I am wondering if my Faria's cooked rom is missing something.
Any ideas?
Jeff
I gave up
well... after playing some more I just figured too much was corupted in the registry/rom (faria) for Internet sharing to work.
I flashed to XDA 6.0 and Internet sharing worked perfect.
Now I have to reinstall everthing by hand
I think thats were the problem was as during my upgrade from wm5, I thought I would try and save the reinstall step and I restored from a backup, most things worked ,but little things still didnt work.
hope this helps someone
Jeff
BT - Internet Sharing - Macs
Well, glad you got it working. I posted a quick set of instructions on my blog for how to connect WM6/BT/Internet Sharing with a Macintosh (since people were a bit confused as to how to do it).

WM6 MDA Wifi problems

I've been on a quest to find a rom where the wifi works. Every wm6 rom I've used, wifi shows the APs, it connects then disconnects soon after and the AP says unavailable, then it'll work again for a sec then disconnect. I read somewhere that a rom based on build 318 would work and someone gave the XDAr6 rom as a suggestion. Same thing. works fine in every WM5 rom, just none in WM6. Anyone have an idea why? Maybe I'm missing a step to get it working or something?
Hello. Install Battery Status, (I have version 1.04.203.beta4) and it has several tabs, one of which has a checkbox that disables the proxy if WiFi is enabled. I ran into this issue too when i first started playing with new ROMs, and was very frustrated until I found this nifty app, and best of all, it works with all the ROMS I've used. Enjoy, hope it helps.
I don't know why this fixed my Wi-Fi, but it did. I just got this phone a few days ago and I was having trouble since yesterday getting the WLAN to enable. I would click it in Comm Manager and nothing would happen. Something I did broke it.
Of course it still won't connect and says "Unavailable" whenever I try to connect to anything that was just a second ago "Available", but at least it's back to the way it was when I got it.
I just did a soft reset and only ran into this once
Try this when you get a chance...
Go into your registry and change the following settings
HKLM\Comm\TNETWLN1\Params
HTCPreloadStatus = 1
HTCPreloadWifi = 1
This solved my issue I had with Wifi after I reflashed my device a couple times to various WM6 ROMs.
For some reason the HTCPreloadStatus never sticks and always converts back to zero. But I was reading a thread and found this solution and it said to do both reg edits. The fix did work for me so I didn't question it.
Mine says "Available", then I enter the network key, and it says "Connecting" and then changes to "Unavailable". It has done this since I got the phone. Today I unlocked it all and upgraded to the latest T-Mobile ROM, and it still does this. I guess I'll keep going and upgrade to a WM6 ROM, but I'm afraid it still won't work then.
I have the same problem, but I can't find where is this registry. What is this, a file that I have to change or I open it from somewhere else ?

ISP/GPRS Connection issues with mobitv and other programs

I have tried searching for this and havent found anything on it, but if someone knows the answer and its on another thread i would apprecaite the help.
When i try to start mobitv, xm radio or my GPS test programs the ISP/GPRS connection keeps trying to connect. I have gone into advance config and couldnt find anything about it. I went to my connection settings and advanced and changed both of them to media net. Did a soft reboot and still got the same issue. I was using dutty's hybrid when i noticed the problem and then when i flashed dutty's 19209 build i still got the same problem. any one got any ideas?
Also i know this was already talked about but cant find where but does the 19209 come with the cube verison?
yeah the same thing happens to me. my isp fails to connects

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
go to dutty's hybrid thread and look for att settings cab. follow the instructions and then install. It fixes the problem.
hey i figured it out. On advanced config the ISP was still enabled. once i disabled it i installed the att settings and installed another xm radio program and it works now. For anyone who is having issues with this the att settings cab and the xm radio cab is on P1tators download page. Thanks for the help
I Am having problems with MobiTV!
I had the Xmresetter in the startup folder and for the last year everything has been fine. About a week ago I get a message when tring to launch MobiTV saying that trial has expired and to Buy now. I guess the free ride is over! I tried to delete everything and reinstall but same problem. Anyone knows a fix I would like to here it!
Ed...
There is no fix. What was happening before was that you could install MobiTV watch if for the 3 day trial, unistall it completely and reinstall it, and it would give you another 3 day trial. Issue on there part has been fixed, now you have HAD your 3 day trial. I think the only other way to get the free trial again is to Clear Storage or ReFlash ROM, which would just be a waste of time just for 3 days of TV on a phone.

Hello.
I have an O2 Xda Exec with Ranju's v7.7 WM6.1
Everything works perfect except the wifi.

I open the connection manager, push the wifi icon and nothing happens! It stays off!

I havenĀ“t any problem with wifi on Ranju v7.7.
reinstall the ROM.
Actually that happened with every wm6 roms I have put in the past.
For example ranju's v7,6.
Do you think that this happens because I have the sdhc driver enabled?
Hello again.
I did some research on my Universal and found out that my device doesn't recognise the wifi module.
I ran the IPer, clicked on adapter info and there is nothing there! (Maybe that's because I can't switch the wifi on. I don't know)
Then, I ran wififofum and there is nothing as a device..
Can anyone please tell me what to do? Please, I'm desperate!!!!!!!
Is there any chance that you are using the Battery Status plug-in? I've experienced exactly the same problem (can't switch WiFi on) with both versions 1.04 & 1.05. If yes, just try to uninstall it.
Unfortunately I'm not using this plugin..
The only today plugins I'm using is the HTC Home VGA, Resco today and SMB GPRS Monitor.
I also do not use the overclocking application embedded with the ROM and I have the watchdog disabled.
Any other clues??? Please...
i have the exact same problem, with every wm6 i installed, now i tried the 6.1 and thats no good, my pda is useless without wifi
any ideas are welcome, i dont want to go back to a wm5 rom
anyone found the cause of this behavior?
I can sometimes switch WLAN on, after the "switching on" time, I turn my Universal off, then on, and WLAN works.
I have the same problem. It started with Tomal's 8.2 ROM and I think it could be when I started using SDHC. Another thing happens to me is that even if, in Stenigs-->System, the Performance is set to 624Mhz, when I test it with CPUID.exe the processor is working at 520Mhz.
Has anyone tryed to downgrade to WM5?
I've read that somthing may be erased in the UNI EEPROM that is not reinstalled with ROMs. But I've "no idea" about it.
a lot of ROMs has affect by WiFi issue when You protect with WPA PSK. Please search for thread : WiFi WPA-PSK Workaround and BubbleFix Service (CAB and OEM) - STABLE ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page) and install the cab. WiFi will run perfectly
Thanks for your help but my problem is that the wlan doesn't turn the WIRELESS LAN on, not the ecryption used. Without wifi, the Universal is just a very BIG cell.
I've even tried this WIFIService.cab but it hasn't solved the problem.
does not seem to work for Tomal's latest ROM

COMM problem: Wi-fi locked.

Hi guys, this is my first post, so i think someone might scream with me XD
Well, i looked around here a lot (browsing and searchs) about this problem, but noone came with the "right" solution.
Well, i bough a HTC touch pro 2 days ago, and yesterday i did the first my first "unstable" message... I didnt knew and the pcc told me to sof reset all to factore... then i did.
After that, my apparence gone black (was green) and i cant anymore use COMM panel to turn on wi-fi connection (its locked!, but somehow i can turn on at the settings of it. BUT i didnt found yet the place to turn OFF )
I didnt remember what was my last version, neither dont know it now, if ask me i search and say. There is a officialy update of the ROM at the site right? should i try it? The language is "portuguese" from portugal.
I use wifi a lot... should i try to install those programs to ON/OFF it?
solved
Well, this problem suddenly was solved... I didnt did anything.. just tryed to change every tab i find, and then... when i looked at COMM the wifi was possible to turn on/of.
Well, i installed many programs, maybe one of them solved the thing...
but no any reply T_T
thanks in advice (at least my message wasnt deleted XD)
