I finally was able to get my Moto Q to share the internet with my computer. Here's how. I went to sprint.com/download. Clicked on smart phones. Clicked on Moto Q. Downloaded Microsoft ActiveSync. Pluged the Moto Q into the laptop via the USB port. Presto! Online with very good speed.
The Sprint store manager was under the impression that this internet sharing capability is not included in my plan. But by reading other posts on other sites, I tend to believe that this is completely free and included in any plan, as long as the phone has internet capability.
This is not using a phone as a modem plan, this is the internet sharing option on the homepage of the Moto Q.
Therefore, from what I read, there is no way for Sprint to know or track this activity to charge a user. Anyone have any thoughts?
If this is in fact free, this a homerun for my mobile office and my daily business activity. I am psyched! Cheers!
what you did is not "Internet Sharing" it is a default feature of activesync when connecting your device to your PC
you can also using wireless internet sharing using a specific application of windows mobile which will use your plan.
sprint has NOTHING to do with your device other than the data plan (and phone features of course).
Not Internet Sharing?
That's strange. The icon on the MOTO Q homescreen says "Internet Sharing".
Is it possible on the T-Mobile Dash to set up a dial-up network connection over bluetooth?
I do not have a data plan on my Dash, but I have Broadband Access on my Verizon phone (tethering) and I want to use my Verizon connection on my Dash. I have been able to do this in the past with a Pocket PC version of Windows Mobile, however I cannot find the appropriate software to do this with my Dash Smartphone.
I've done my share of searching online, but I keep getting flooded with how to do DUN on the Dash to connect to a laptop, which is NOT what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to establish a dial-up connection FROM my Dash TO my Verizon dumbphone using bluetooth. I'm already sure my dumbphone supports DUN over Bluetooth (I connect with my laptop all the time).
Hi. I was just wondering if there is some way to dissallow connection types other than Wi-Fi to connect to the internet on WM 6.5? The reason i want this is because i don't have an unlimited data plan and i sometimes forget that i aren't connected to the internet through Wi-Fi and the greedy telephone company charges me money...
Thanks alot!

Try No Data
Just in case not got a MoDaCo account it's attached
I have the Tmobile $70 plan with comes with 2.5 GB of tethering.
If I tether to my laptop and the laptop has a VPN, then I can look at the counter at ma.web2go.com and see that no tethering data is being used. This solution works very well for a laptop, where I can operate a VPN on the laptop.
When I use the VPN on the phone, not the laptop, the laptop will see the tether wifi signal, will register, but the internet will not work on the laptop.
Or, other times, the VPN will disconnect on the phone after a few seconds and cannot be reconnected.
I would like to be able to use the VPN on the phone so that I can use a Roku and Chromecast where I cannot set up a VPN on the device.
Yes, I have added the line in the database file.
I have seen a solution elsewhere which involves switching the APN to use IPv4, but the APN is already set that way.
It seems as if Tmobile has some measures in place to stop people from doing what I want to do - anyone else experience this and anyone find any ways around it?
