Change of Hardwarekeyboardlayout on WM6 - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hi all,
I've still tried to change the hw keyboard layout to german with the following tools...
- German Input (Crossbow).cab
- German Input for WM6 by ZakMcRofl.cab
- German Transcriber by ZakMcRofl.cab
- Hades German Language Pack for WM5 v1.3.cab
But nevertheless the Hardwarekeyboard never changed.
Does anybody have a suiteable idea how to change the settings in WM6 to use a german Hardwarekeyboard?
Kind Regards
Seppl

Hi Seppl
Install Registry Wizard and select Keyboard Language "German".
I selected "Norwegian" on my Qtek9100, and it works fine.
Best regards
Rosseha

I know what you need to do, but I haven't done it in a while, so I can just explain it to you. You need to go into the registry and find the key for the keyboard (if it is currently english, it will say 0409). Once you have found that, change it to the language for the keyboard you want.
For German layout (QWERTZ):
Code:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 0409 (String) (ORIGINAL)
Change to HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 0407 (String)
-Nstefanelli-

okay...
in HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\
are only the values
DefaultKeyLock 1
EnableIndicatior 1
InitialDelay 375
Muteswitch 1
RepeatRate 8
ShowWarningMsg 1
There is no string value Locale.
By the way, where can i get "Registry Wizard"

I have an Italian hardware keyboard and an English OS. I use AEKMap to remap the hardware keys. It work great! You can find the software at http://ae.inc.ru/aekmap.php with a lot of free remap files from users.
Remap files are here http://ae.inc.ru/aekmaplayout.php

Hi,
you have to create the key / value..
best regards

I've already created a new string.
Are you sure that it is a string value?
The Problem is I created it, rebooted (checked if the key is still there) but there is no change. When i press "Y" a "Z" appears ;(

XDA RegistryWizard

it's simple, useful for tweaking registry and free

Hey AEKMAP is great
I had a Swedish keyboard and made the Swedish file remap.
If any one needs more details will be happy to explain or to make any file for your keybs ;-)

Hello and thank you for the hint!
It works for me with all the standard keys, like 'Y' and 'Z' and the punctuations. There is one thing left open though: when I need to type a German 'Umlaut' I was used from WM5 to type the letter, let's say 'a' and then the 'Sym' key, and it was creating a 'ä'. Now when I'm doing this, it creates a 'à'.
Hope these characters make it to the posting correctly
Is there any additional hint on this?

in wm6 roms the sym.txt is named sym.0409.txt
so just rename a german sym.txt in sym.0409.txt
or take mine.
just use the hades german language pack and copy the sym.0409.txt to the windows folder.

Thank you! Will try that ...
I have found another approach which I'm going to try.

Swedish characters on keyboard

Since I had severe problems getting the swedish characters to work after upgrading to WM6 (Pandora 3.2) I thought I'd provide the other swedes here with my sollution.
For the hardware keyboard:
Open a registry editor and locate
HKCU >> ControlPanel >> Keybd
Change the string from 0409 to 0414 and save.
Turn the wizard off by using the power button. Do no soft reset. If you soft reset sometimes the registry is not saved.
Turn the wizard on. You should now have swedish characters.
The value 0409 is for english. I could not get it to work by replacing it with 041d which is the code for Swedish according to Microsoft (all country codes can be found here http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/winxp/xp-lcid.mspx )
However, one user in the forum used 0414 which is really Norwegian_Bokmal but they also use å, ä and ö. Tested this and it worked.
Some threads tell you to also change the value in two other places:
HKCU >> keyboard layout >> Preload >> 1 >> Default and
HKCU >> keyboard layout >> Preload >> Default
Do not change these settings. It will do nothing except disabling the auto complete function. I also encountered problems starting the wizard after changing these settings.
To get swedish characters on the onscreen keyboard I installed SkandinaviskTastatur5 which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1150091&postcount=97
Hope this helps!
thanks.
Good job.

I dont understand how to change the langue on the harwere keyboard, plz help me!! // Michael
Tackar! Usally I use Registry Wizard for this, but with this method I don't have to install any 3:d-part programs
Perfekt!
Tack för hjälpen
Didnt work for me.
I tryed this at my Kaister with 6.1 but it didnt work. did try both 0414 and 041d.
For the hardware keyboard the only way I've ever got it to work is by using a proggie called "skandinavisk tastatur". Comes as a .cab- just install and it lets you choose which nordic keyboard layout to use. It's a bit tricky to track down (I think it is freeware though), but nothing half an hour on google will fix

Thank you so much for the information, I've been looking for a way to get Scandic letters working for quite some time now. Finally I can use my Wizard normally.
I can also confirm that this works for Finnish. As stated in the first post, just navigate to HKCU - ControlPanel - Keybd and change "Locale" to "0414", hard restart via the power button and you're done.

QWERTZ (german) keyboard in WM6

Is there any way to get my my german keyboard-layout back after
an upgrade to the V5 WM6-rom?
It just drives me crazy to no longer find most keys
and to be unable to type Umlauts at all.

install and look ...
Or do it by hand:
a)Fire up your favorite registry editor on the PDA (like Resco)
b) Open this Key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
c) change "Layout" to (decimal):
66567

just edit the /windows/sym.txt file and set the umlauts to first position.
Instead of the 66567 (which is 10407 hex) you can also use 132103 (20407 hex). Don't know the differences. But 0407 is the country code for Germany.
For manual dictionary installation, copy the contents of the attached zip file to your \WINDOWS directory on your device and change the following registry key:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Spell Check]
Main_Dict="\windows\mssp2_ge.lex"
I also attached my personal sym.txt (with many added symbols).

{Solved} Kaiser harware keyboard keys remapping

All keyboard layouts are hardcoded in keypad.dll.
Look any any hex editor at offset 0x1d8c0 (in current version of this dll, but can be easily found in newer released - see screenshot).
It contains national characters in unicode (like russian ones), FN+ combinations, etc.
Now you can map keys the way you like.
Hi! Does anybody know how to remap keys in english layout the way you like (for example, dvorak layout?) Also I would like to change some FN+key to my very own. I know there is AEKMap software, but I'm curiuos is it possible to make it editing some files (dll or configuration or registry) and flashing them with ROM (or just overwriting in \windows folder). The first and simplest task to start with I would like to remap FN+Q to print @ symbol (instead of !), and FN+W to print ! symbol (instead of @). Who knows how to do that?
p.s.: and what cwslayout=1 registry key is actually for? i've googled for "CWSLayout" and found nothing but links to our forum
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD]
"CurLang"=dword:0000040c
"CWSLayout"=dword:00000000
this is for french vesion, so "CurLang"=dword:00000409 is for english, and "CurLang"=dword:00000804 is for CHS, OK, change it to what ever you want.
i'm not talking about layouts... I'm talking about mappings. imagine i want to make a dvorak mappings for wm. this is what i need to do... imagine i've opened my device, and changed all keys in hardware- so instead of qwertyuiop you will see poiuytrewq for example. and want WM also print correct characters as i made in my new hardware keyboard...

im gonna take a stab at it and CWS probably stands for Cingular WirelesS... Even though its now att the CID is still CWS
SO, if you dont have an ATT tilt, then i would suggest either setting that string to 0, or deleting it!
I think that I have the same problem.
I am completly new to this, and I appreciate any help.
I live and work in China, and I just bought an HTC TYTN II (it is the Taiwan version) and some of the keys are different from my friend's Vodafone 1615. I am trying to figure out how to flash the phone into English, and it seems that when I will do that, that some of the keys will not do what is printed on the key itself. Can anyone tell me what to do? Is there a specific English Rom flash for my phone, or will I need to learn how to re-map the keys after I flash it to English, or should I just take the phone back (My phone is still brand new.) and trade it for the Vodafone 1615? I like the look of this TYTN II that I picked out better, but if I am going to have to put up with keys which don't match correctly, then I prefer to just trade it for the Vodafone.
Thanks for any help.

i didnt find a CWSLayout string so i made one and set it to 1 and now it finally shows up on the screen just like how its printed on the keyboard.

Hi, bringing up the old post, but it might shade some light for others with similar issues:
I have a QWERTY layout, but it appears that although "Y" was in its place - some of the "Fn+" characters were not:
Q W E R T Y
@ ! ? / # 1
As I see from the posts above - you guys has "!" mapped to "Q".
Now - on my Kaiser, although with English layout, the Function + characters are mapped differently. And you have the paramenter CWS set as 1?
I had it also, and I mistyped most of my Fn+ characters (Fn+Q = ! instead of = @ and so on...).
(thanks to you and these posts) I set CWSLayout=0, and did a soft reset.
Now - I have an @ in place of Q and all the other characters mapped according to my hardware keyboard.
Once again - thanks.
p.s. - I just wanted to "elaborate" a bit more for the guys with this issue so it could be more clear...

Make $100! I need a 20 languages t9 cab file

Hi there..
I know I can install a single language with a t9 cab file. But what I need is installing many languages in a single go. They are used on the Imate SPL.
I have quite a few Imate SPL phones to sell and installing single languages takes a lot of my time, so a single big file would save me trouble. I could install all languages seperately with Active Sync, but then I need something that can adjust the registry so that they are all available from the t9 menu, now only the last one installed shows.
I use all the languages from this page, from Czech to Turkish (no Chinese)
http://melgurth.ovh.org/index.php?page=downloads
Only for Portuguese I use another one, because the one from the page doesn't work. I use this one:
http://rapidshare.com/files/71913751/t9_Eng-Portug.rar
Of course I don't want to be a free rider, so the first to make me a fully working multi language .cab file or a proper registry edit thingy gets $100!
Maybe it already exists, well that is also worth it to me, let me know please.

[How To] Change XT9 dictionary

I have seen a lot asking how to change the XT9 dictionary to a language not listed. After having a hard time finding a solution myself i decided to write this guide.
If you are using a ROM with another language than the language you want your XT9 dictionary to be and that dictionary language isn't in the XT9 language menu, don't worry. All you need to do is adding a few things in the registry.
First go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\
Open the key:
AvailableLanguages
In this you will see a Value like:
0109,010C,0107,0110,010A
These are the langues (you currently) can choose between. Add the language you want to use, ex. danish is 0106:
0106,0109,010C,0107,0110,010A
Here's a list of most of the dictionary codes (sorry i don't know all of them, if anyone got a complete list be free to reply with a link or the list and i'll add it):
0101 = Arabic
0105 = Czech
0106 = Danish
0107 = German
0108 = Greek
0109 = English
010A = Spanish
010B = Finnish
010C = French
0110 = Italian
0113 = Dutch
0114 = Norwegian
0115 = Polish
0116 = Portuguese
010e = Hungarian
0118 = Romanian
0119 = Russian
011B = Slovak
011D = Swedish
011F = Turkish
Unknown = Serbian
Next go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\LdbFiles\
Add a new string value with the name of the language you want to add (ex 0106 for danish). Then in value add the filename of the dictionary you want to link the language to. Here's a list of the dictionaries in the WWE 1.61 ROM (my guess of languages in parentesis):
ARlsUN_xt9.ldb (Arabic)
CSlsUN_xt9.ldb (Serbian)
DAlsUN.ldb (Danish)
DElsUN_xt9.ldb (German)
ELlsUN_xt9.ldb (Greek)
ENlbUN_xt9s.ldb (English)
ESlsUN.ldb (Spanish)
FIlsUN.ldb (Finnish)
FRlsUN_xt9s.ldb (French)
HUlsUN_xt9.ldb (Hungarian)
ITlsUN.ldb (Italian)
NLlsUN_xt9.ldb (Dutch)
NOlsUN.ldb (Norwegian)
PLlsUN_xt9.ldb (Polish)
PTlsUN_xt9.ldb (Portuguese)
ROlsUN_xt9.ldb (Romanian)
RUlsUN_xt9.ldb (Russian)
SKlsUN_xt9.ldb (Slovak)
SVlsUN.ldb (Swedish)
TRlsUN_xt9.ldb (Turkish)
After adding the value, soft reset your phone and you can now choose the language you added in the XT9 menu.
Should you still experience minor problems, like freezes, slow dictionary, etc., try this. Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Sip\LanguageKeyBoardIDMapping
Take the dictionary code you just added, and replace the FIRST 2 digits with 09. For example if you added 0106, you change that to 0906. Now add a new string value, name it the original code, ex. 0106 and as value you input the 09 value, ex. 0906 (Thanks to bel_z_bub).
26/03/10 - Added the missing dictionary codes!

how do I dissable he xT9?? I dont really using it in my language.. coz my finger keeps on accidentaly pressing xT9 and ABC
Hungarian language code for xt9: 010e
Romanian 0118
I already posted something like that here guess I should have made a topic about it..
but it kept crashing/not working sometimes (well, three times total since) and after some more searching I think you also must add a value to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Sip\LanguageKeyBoardIDMapping
for Dutch I added a new string value named 0113 with a value of 0913
just take the last two numbers/letters of your languages code and put 09 in front of it..
there might be more that need to be changed.. I'm still testing this change as I just found out..
SK is Slovak (not slovakian )

The error you describe on the other post happened on mine with original ROM as well without changing XT9, so far i haven't experienced it after instaling WWE ROM and changing it to Danish XT9 dictionary.
Should i experience it, then as i say it's just like with the original ROM, it's not a sideeffect of doing this.
From the name of the folder you listed above, i guess that just for using other keyboardmappings, with different languages. Unless you have another alphabet (not ABC) i guess it's not needed to add.

From the keys in that folder listed above, you might guess windows is missing a value when you change languages as all the original languages are there. Seems like it's only logical to add your new values there as well don't you think? The same keyboardmapping or not, windows apparently needs a value when you change languages. Why would all the values be different if it's the same mapping?
The crashes occured when I changed language from dutch to english and back to dutch again when typing. And after a night of hardcore testing with the new keyboardID, it hasn't crashed anymore.
o yeah. I think SV is Svenska (Swedish) but not sure..
I think that "ELlsUN_xt9.ldb" stands for Greek (=ELLINIKA in greek).
If you can find the code then we can also use the Greek Dictionary...
AeroByte, where did you get the WWE 1.61 ROM ? Did it come on your device ? Is this an official ROM ? Could you post a link from where I could get it ?
Thanks

Greek should be 0108 if I am correct.
Use this page: http://www.science.co.il/language/Locale-Codes.asp?s=country
All 04 must be changed to 01 (i.e. 0408 to 0108, etc).

There's only an official 1.61 ROM out in WWE/Russian. (You can get everything in Russia )
I'm using a cooked 1.61 ROM from kwbr, the maker of Topix. You can find it here:

Allright have it your way, but I think the guide is incomplete like this.. it seems only logic to add the value.. just like you added it to the AvailableLanguages key.. and I wrote a ton of messages today english and dutch and haven't had any problems anymore..
