I have seen a lot asking how to change the XT9 dictionary to a language not listed. After having a hard time finding a solution myself i decided to write this guide.
If you are using a ROM with another language than the language you want your XT9 dictionary to be and that dictionary language isn't in the XT9 language menu, don't worry. All you need to do is adding a few things in the registry.
First go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\
Open the key:
AvailableLanguages
In this you will see a Value like:
0109,010C,0107,0110,010A
These are the langues (you currently) can choose between. Add the language you want to use, ex. danish is 0106:
0106,0109,010C,0107,0110,010A
Here's a list of most of the dictionary codes (sorry i don't know all of them, if anyone got a complete list be free to reply with a link or the list and i'll add it):
0101 = Arabic
0105 = Czech
0106 = Danish
0107 = German
0108 = Greek
0109 = English
010A = Spanish
010B = Finnish
010C = French
0110 = Italian
0113 = Dutch
0114 = Norwegian
0115 = Polish
0116 = Portuguese
010e = Hungarian
0118 = Romanian
0119 = Russian
011B = Slovak
011D = Swedish
011F = Turkish
Unknown = Serbian
Next go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\LdbFiles\
Add a new string value with the name of the language you want to add (ex 0106 for danish). Then in value add the filename of the dictionary you want to link the language to. Here's a list of the dictionaries in the WWE 1.61 ROM (my guess of languages in parentesis):
ARlsUN_xt9.ldb (Arabic)
CSlsUN_xt9.ldb (Serbian)
DAlsUN.ldb (Danish)
DElsUN_xt9.ldb (German)
ELlsUN_xt9.ldb (Greek)
ENlbUN_xt9s.ldb (English)
ESlsUN.ldb (Spanish)
FIlsUN.ldb (Finnish)
FRlsUN_xt9s.ldb (French)
HUlsUN_xt9.ldb (Hungarian)
ITlsUN.ldb (Italian)
NLlsUN_xt9.ldb (Dutch)
NOlsUN.ldb (Norwegian)
PLlsUN_xt9.ldb (Polish)
PTlsUN_xt9.ldb (Portuguese)
ROlsUN_xt9.ldb (Romanian)
RUlsUN_xt9.ldb (Russian)
SKlsUN_xt9.ldb (Slovak)
SVlsUN.ldb (Swedish)
TRlsUN_xt9.ldb (Turkish)
After adding the value, soft reset your phone and you can now choose the language you added in the XT9 menu.
Should you still experience minor problems, like freezes, slow dictionary, etc., try this. Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Sip\LanguageKeyBoardIDMapping
Take the dictionary code you just added, and replace the FIRST 2 digits with 09. For example if you added 0106, you change that to 0906. Now add a new string value, name it the original code, ex. 0106 and as value you input the 09 value, ex. 0906 (Thanks to bel_z_bub).
26/03/10 - Added the missing dictionary codes!
hi,
is there any ways to add entries to the dictionary? I cant find the eT9MyWords.exe anywhere..
Very good tip. Working for Romanian.
Thank you!

You should have eT9MyWords.exe in the Windows folder. At least mine is there.

how do I dissable he xT9?? I dont really using it in my language.. coz my finger keeps on accidentaly pressing xT9 and ABC
Hungarian language code for xt9: 010e
Romanian 0118
I already posted something like that here guess I should have made a topic about it..
but it kept crashing/not working sometimes (well, three times total since) and after some more searching I think you also must add a value to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Sip\LanguageKeyBoardIDMapping
for Dutch I added a new string value named 0113 with a value of 0913
just take the last two numbers/letters of your languages code and put 09 in front of it..
there might be more that need to be changed.. I'm still testing this change as I just found out..
SK is Slovak (not slovakian )

The error you describe on the other post happened on mine with original ROM as well without changing XT9, so far i haven't experienced it after instaling WWE ROM and changing it to Danish XT9 dictionary.
Should i experience it, then as i say it's just like with the original ROM, it's not a sideeffect of doing this.
From the name of the folder you listed above, i guess that just for using other keyboardmappings, with different languages. Unless you have another alphabet (not ABC) i guess it's not needed to add.

From the keys in that folder listed above, you might guess windows is missing a value when you change languages as all the original languages are there. Seems like it's only logical to add your new values there as well don't you think? The same keyboardmapping or not, windows apparently needs a value when you change languages. Why would all the values be different if it's the same mapping?
The crashes occured when I changed language from dutch to english and back to dutch again when typing. And after a night of hardcore testing with the new keyboardID, it hasn't crashed anymore.
o yeah. I think SV is Svenska (Swedish) but not sure..
I think that "ELlsUN_xt9.ldb" stands for Greek (=ELLINIKA in greek).
If you can find the code then we can also use the Greek Dictionary...
AeroByte, where did you get the WWE 1.61 ROM ? Did it come on your device ? Is this an official ROM ? Could you post a link from where I could get it ?
Thanks

Greek should be 0108 if I am correct.
Use this page: http://www.science.co.il/language/Locale-Codes.asp?s=country
All 04 must be changed to 01 (i.e. 0408 to 0108, etc).

There's only an official 1.61 ROM out in WWE/Russian. (You can get everything in Russia )
I'm using a cooked 1.61 ROM from kwbr, the maker of Topix. You can find it here:

Hi all,
I've still tried to change the hw keyboard layout to german with the following tools...
- German Input (Crossbow).cab
- German Input for WM6 by ZakMcRofl.cab
- German Transcriber by ZakMcRofl.cab
- Hades German Language Pack for WM5 v1.3.cab
But nevertheless the Hardwarekeyboard never changed.
Does anybody have a suiteable idea how to change the settings in WM6 to use a german Hardwarekeyboard?
Kind Regards
Seppl
Hi Seppl
Install Registry Wizard and select Keyboard Language "German".
I selected "Norwegian" on my Qtek9100, and it works fine.
Best regards
Rosseha
I know what you need to do, but I haven't done it in a while, so I can just explain it to you. You need to go into the registry and find the key for the keyboard (if it is currently english, it will say 0409). Once you have found that, change it to the language for the keyboard you want.
For German layout (QWERTZ):
Code:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 0409 (String) (ORIGINAL)
Change to HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 0407 (String)
-Nstefanelli-
okay...
in HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\
are only the values
DefaultKeyLock 1
EnableIndicatior 1
InitialDelay 375
Muteswitch 1
RepeatRate 8
ShowWarningMsg 1
There is no string value Locale.
By the way, where can i get "Registry Wizard"

I have an Italian hardware keyboard and an English OS. I use AEKMap to remap the hardware keys. It work great! You can find the software at http://ae.inc.ru/aekmap.php with a lot of free remap files from users.

Hi,
you have to create the key / value..
best regards
I've already created a new string.
Are you sure that it is a string value?
The Problem is I created it, rebooted (checked if the key is still there) but there is no change. When i press "Y" a "Z" appears ;(

I had a Swedish keyboard and made the Swedish file remap.
If any one needs more details will be happy to explain or to make any file for your keybs ;-)

Hello and thank you for the hint!
It works for me with all the standard keys, like 'Y' and 'Z' and the punctuations. There is one thing left open though: when I need to type a German 'Umlaut' I was used from WM5 to type the letter, let's say 'a' and then the 'Sym' key, and it was creating a 'ä'. Now when I'm doing this, it creates a 'à'.
Hope these characters make it to the posting correctly
Is there any additional hint on this?

in wm6 roms the sym.txt is named sym.0409.txt
so just rename a german sym.txt in sym.0409.txt
or take mine.
just use the hades german language pack and copy the sym.0409.txt to the windows folder.
steph
Thank you! Will try that ...
I have found another approach which I'm going to try.
Is there a way to change the language for the dictonary/spellcheck?
I live in Sweden and would like to be able to text in swedish and have the spellcheck enabled for Swedish language! Would also be nice if I could use the special characters on the keyboard!
Can someone help me please, is there a file that I have to replace or what do I have to do?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
I'm from Poland and some smart people here just found that all required files for T9 PL settings are already on Touch Pro.
They just change some available languages on T9 (registry settings) and it works like hell Afair their exchange Italian for Polish. There is CAB file and steb by step guide to change settings for Polish language but I belive it can be easly adopted for other languages.
Link for this thread is here:

Hi there..
I know I can install a single language with a t9 cab file. But what I need is installing many languages in a single go. They are used on the Imate SPL.
I have quite a few Imate SPL phones to sell and installing single languages takes a lot of my time, so a single big file would save me trouble. I could install all languages seperately with Active Sync, but then I need something that can adjust the registry so that they are all available from the t9 menu, now only the last one installed shows.
I use all the languages from this page, from Czech to Turkish (no Chinese)
http://melgurth.ovh.org/index.php?page=downloads
Only for Portuguese I use another one, because the one from the page doesn't work. I use this one:
http://rapidshare.com/files/71913751/t9_Eng-Portug.rar
Of course I don't want to be a free rider, so the first to make me a fully working multi language .cab file or a proper registry edit thingy gets $100!
Maybe it already exists, well that is also worth it to me, let me know please.

Hi all,
I'm very fond of the program "quick menu", and it works like a charm when on a non swedish rom, but when I use a swedish rom (any) all I see is gibberish in the text (chinese or something -lookalike).
Was wondering if anyone know a way to fix this as I'm very addicted to this software.
Sincerly,
/Martin
The language code can be found in the registry: HKLM/MUI. English is 0409, Dutch is 0413.
If you know your language, you can also look it up: http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/win2k/setup/lcid.mspx
Copy QMenuCfg.dll.0409.mui to QMenuCfg.dll.0413.mui (or whatever your language code is) and do the same for QuickMenu.exe.0409.mui.
Close QuickMenu or reboot you PPC...
I screwed up.. change the MUI to english hoping that would do something, and now I don't remember what swedish was (didn't change anything though). And the link. How do I find the swedish MUI again, without hard reset? :/
::edit:: found it, and testing your way. But I don't think it has swedish support. All I see are squares and a few words spelt in english.
Where do i find QMenuCfg.dll.1053.mui??
Edit 2:::: fixed it by downgrading to 2.7 instead of 2.8

Hi,
You might want to ask the guys who are active in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907971
I imagine that the option for other languages has been disabled in the registry and so it will be a matter of re-enabling it. However, I don't know where the key which houses that value would be located.

Can you scan the regIstRy and check if you find keys for spanish? If so spanish can be present and i can look for the number of the spanish language and you can try to type in this number for the current language registry key. But if there are no keys for other languages in your registry im afraid they just removed all multilingual support (which is really dumb/criminal if you ask me and says a lot how close minded and worldstrange the folks at tmobile are...)
