Anyone having issues with flashing after building? also questions about +ing packages - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

The weirdest thing has been happening after I build any ROM based on 5.2.1413... at about 99% the RUU exits.. i keep having to use different builds with my ROMs and I would like to use .1413.. any ideas/suggestions? also how do you add a different package to the BuildOS app and change registry while building? Thanks everyone!

which kitchen are you using? I didn't have this issue with the Pandora setup. Might check it out. http://rapidshare.com/files/35699228/5.2.1413_OS.zip
Check the OEM Package in my kitchen in the sig. It has a bunch of examples.

yes, this is simple... Your rom is too big (too much stuff in it!). What I do is after I get my nk.nbf built, and before flashing, I use XP's explorer and do a properties on the nk.nbf. If the size (with splash screens) is 57.3MB or larger its too big and this is what will happen. If you don't have splash screens, it needs to be 57.0MB or smaller.
Those numbers are my rule of thumb. May not be exact but larger than that seems to always fail for me.

XDA PagePool Patcher v1.4 for ALL Kaiser Rom Files (and Touch dual)

Here it is:
This utility runs on your computer (PC/Laptop) not on your PPC Phone!
You will be Patching the nbh file before you flash your device.
Requires you have Dot NET Framework 2.0.0x or better installed.
This simple tool will easily change:
The Rom Version Displayed during the Boot Process.
The Initial Rom Date
The PagePool Setting (supports Dynamic, 6mb, 12mb, 16mb, 18mb, 24mb & 32mb).
Easy to use:
1. Click [Browse] and find your NBH File
2. Click [Analyze], it will find the Rom Version, Rom Date and PagePool Settings and tell you what they are.
3. Make the desired changes.
4. Click [Modify]
5. If you click [Analyze] again it will verify that your changes were made to the image (imemory).
6. Click [Save]
You have changed your PagePool and/or Update the Rom Date!
I have tested this and successfully flashed the following modified Rom Images:
AT&T WM6.0 Rom 1.62.502
Dopod WM6.1 Rom 3.10
AT&T WM6.1 Rom 3.51
Use at your own risk.
I will be keeping it in my 4shared Public Folder: Kyphur.4shared.com. There is now a folder for the PagePool Patcher, go there for the orignal & latest Versions.
Special thanks to duttythroy, Tayton & Sleuth255 it was their info that got this started.
If you want to support development of this (and possibly other Rom Cooking Tools) click on the [About] button to find a [Donate!] button.
Also, it has been reported to work on Touch dual Rom Files.
Enjoy....
Can you add 10mb PagePool Size ?
Is-it possible to modify the first number in ROM version ?
Thanks for your hard work !
thanks alot for your hard work kyphur. Will this work on slueth's 1.2 or schap's? What is it supposed to say if it don't work? TIA..
No it is not possible to modify the first number, even if I actually overwrite it in the Rom file it will have no effect.
As for adding new PP Sizes, I think I've got it pretty well covered. I mean is there really that much of a difference between 10 & 12mb? Yeah, I know I have 16 & 18 but that's because 16/18mb seems to be a sweet spot with the Kaiser.
Tell you what, if I find other reasons to make a new compile then I'll add a few more PP Sizes.

It should work on all of them.
If it reports any strange data (like Rom Version or Date contains something out of place) or an unusual PagePool Number then let me know.

Very good to have a patcher for all ROMS
But, when I hv used it on your own ROM (XDA live 3.0) and set the PP to dynamic (which I believe is the best), it failed to analyze the ROM again.
So, I was afraid to flash the ROM with wrong parameters
I'm looking into it right now, found a minor coding issue related to adding the "Classic Rom" support that only affected setting the PP back to Dynamic.

One last question, can we do it on the phone memory without need to re-flash after modification.
Thanks
Nope, you got to modify the image file before flashing.

Last update:
I did change the PP in your ROM to Dynamic
After flashing the phone freezes at windows welcome screen and never prompt to touch the screen to continue preliminary setup.
I changed the PP of the same NBH file from Dynamic to 32MB, reflashed, and worked.
Couldn't get my favor dynamic PP
Wow, that is really odd, for Dynamic I simply set the values back to their default.
I'm busy with work right now and might not get a chance for in depth testing for a few days but by this weekend I'll give my development kaiser a workout and see if I can duplicate your results.

Iolite ROM porting

Just had a few questions to the cooks out there maybe can help me solve why porting the Iolite rom to the tilt is becoming an epic failure for me. I have tried xip porting three different ways with all the same results. First two i get a double beep than tap screen, but i can not tap the screen to get it to go on. Third way got single beep than tap screen and once again no response from the screen. I copied the sys over and g'relocd it. I have tried this with the 3.34 base. Do i need anything else? Is it necesarry to have the manila 2d included? Also on another note I tried with the AT&T rom as a base which works fine except the folders are empty and I can not make any data connections.
how did you port the SYS?
sounds like an SYS issue
I copied the SYS from the Iolite rom and ran g'reloc to the proper values. Unless im doing something wrong there. I have done the same when porting the blackstone roms minus the dpi192 folders. For this I just copied it all. Must i keep the dpi96 folders from the original rom for it to work. If so I feel noobish lol. on another note I also did try just copying the gwes.exe and the other per your sys porting guide (Thanks Mbarvian) and had the same results. Unless my XIP porting is not happening correctly.

Well, I can confirm this issue. See my post here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478647
I thought it was a SYS issue as well. However, I re-ported the SYS, didn't change anything in it. Just g'relocd, and went on. There is just one difference, I only had the touch screen not respond once. Every other time, no problems. Just still receiving that stupid double beep before the tap screen message. I can up a zip of my kitchen for anyone that wants to take a look at it. :/
Hey KMFM$
Yeah the double beep thing is weird. The only time I did not get the double beep was when I used the XipportEx thats posted on the forums, but every single time im getting no response from the touchscreen Really want to get a rom going. I want to develope a nice rom for the community to use, but I have much learning to do before I release something out. Currently I want to do release something with both a HTC and an AT&T base rom.

Yeah, that double beep is just driving me nuts. Off hand, do you know if you're using the XIP porting utility from ervius' (from the XIP Porting Tutorial in Dev&Hacking) or the similar one posted by lennysh? Also, are you using the SYS supplied in anryl's kitchen thread?
Hopefully, we can find an answer for this soon. I would like to release this ROM, but this is just one bug that I cannot deal with.

The three i have used are lenny's which produces the double beep
The manual from post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438676 also has the double beep.
Finally the one from ervius does not do the double beeping.
I extracted the iolite rom using htrcie than the packagebuilder. It has worked for me many times.
Still can't figure out why with the HTC rom no touchscreen, but the AT&T rom base works, but is seriously crippled.
Interesting. I'm using the XIPPorterEX from Ervius' and I'm receiving the double beep. I'm currently using the XIP and SYS supplied from anryl's kitchen thread. I'm having the hardest time finding the original files for porting. I don't know if I'm just searching the wrong thing or what. Oh well.

Hmm. Just tried your port, mbarvian. It put me in the same boat as vonmolk. It doesn't make it past the splash screen. I'll try another kitchen and test again. Just for info, I'm using the 3.34 OEM and cmonex's 3.29Hard2 SPL.
@mbarvian: Note, I just took the folders as you had them, mbarvian, and added the OEM. Did you G'reloc the SYS folder? I didn't so I'll give that a try and test next.
EDIT After g'relocing, the ROM works. HOWEVER, I'm still getting the two chimes (beeps) before "Tap screen to setup device" displays. I'm going to try anryl's or abusalza's ports and see if those give the double beep before the "Tap screen" text. Thanks for the help, mbarvian.

AJZ Hero Speedup Script

if you want a certain script added, chances are some1 else does too. if you have an idea, or find a script you want added, please either post or PM me. i take a look at this thread alot throughout the day, so i will be able to see your ideas quickly. YOUR IDEAS ARE IMPORTANT
first of all, i did not write this script, i took it from the thread HTC Hero Speedup v2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521421), which was put together by tehseano, who i must thank, however, it seems to only work for Haykuro's Hero ROM
THIS SCRIPT is made to speedup the HTC HERO rom on the g1's. my speedup script is made to work under JACman's. if tried on someone elses, you could brick your phone (although i doubt it), and i will not take responcibility for bricks
trying to use it under JACman 1.72, i couldn't get tehseano's script to work, so im going through a bunch of tweaking and editing for it to work under JACman roms (im guessing twistedumbrella's too).
currently, i'm about to release version 0.2. - released
i have fixed most of the directories and codes except for Battery fix, i have gotten the HTC camera to work, read the readme file
out of curiosity, does any1 have any preference on where i upload the files? want someplace easy and fast, so no rapidshare or anything like that. first working suggestion gets it
please do not use option #8 once it is up, it is not done yet
everything else should be good. this is made STRICTLY for JACman roms, not haykuro's, but twistedumbrella's should work, since it is based off of JACmans
____________________________________________________________________________________________
version 0.2 - http://www.4shared.com/file/113524687/c98398cd/AJZ_HeroSpeed_02.html
very minor changes
fixed the scripts
working on a battery fix
version 1.0 will be more compatible with JAChero 1.8, i expect to release that in the next few day, but this might not be possible because i'm going on vacation

Changes:
deleted option to delete pc sync, causes bootloops and doesnt exist
added possibility to change the screen lock image (although doesnt have to do with speed)
added quick directions for changing the lock screen image

can you please include instructions for mac users? thanks good work

Yes.
That's what I'm using ti with. And it's made Rosie completely usable for the first time for me.
Has anyone had the experience where Rosie was really fast when first optimizing using whatever procedure but then lags down over time? That was what I experienced when using a different optimizer. Hopefully this one is consistent.

A completely stripped ROM. (Work in progress for some devices.)
LZX and XPR compression (Also option for No compression.)
Auto clean files that are language specific or DPI specific that your ROM does not need
Auto port missing language MUI files
Automatic rec'loc'ing for devices without native 6.5 nk's
6.1 and 6.5 support
Auto XIP and SYS porting
Auto NBH packing
Tool to convert OEM packages to EXT packages
Auto file conflict fix (don't have to removing older file that conflict (not that there are any. )
Save custom ROM settings (for cooks for multiple ROMs)
Cook multiple languages at the same time with the same ROM settings (Have to add language support yourself. I removed the required MUI's a while back because they made updating the kitchen and adding devices a nightmare.)
MUCH better organization of EXT packages
Active development instead of a program that is no longer being developed
Cleaner and easier to use interface
A built-in and customizable Tutorial section
And more!
Builds included
21056 - WM6.1
23658 - WM6.5 with new redesigned GUI

At the moment, this is an ENGLISH (WWE) only kitchen. This might change...
NOTE: In order for me to keep track of whether my time was well spent or wasted, if you use this kitchen to make a ROM, please either include SJK in the name or just mention that it was SJK cooked in your ROM's thread.
NOTE: This kitchen assumes that you know how to flash through SD, recover from a bad flash and are able to backtrack your steps to figure out how you broke your own ROM. If you do not understand these, please learn them first. Do not PM me asking me. I have written numerous walkthroughs on all these except on how to backtrack your steps. For that, just remember what you're doing as you do it and keep backups.
If you find any issues, PLEASE report them to the bug tracker in my website. It will help me make this kitchen better!
ENJOY!!!
COOL......
Kwel, great booster for new chefs..!!!
error..error....
The elf/elfin side is untested (as I didn't have a tester for it) so let me know if you run into any problems.
Please also post any problems in my bug tracker on my site. Thank you

Are you HardSPL'd? If so, do you have the file size limit removed? Also, don't include most of the packages. Your device only has so much space. You're not supposed to include that many programs.

It shows that you are registered twice and are activated on both accounts.
I do not have the ability to see passwords. IM me one of the usernames and passwords that you used so I can troubleshoot.
As far as the ROM goes:
If you have an elf, that file size is massive. Remember that the limit only removes the lower limit of a 50mb requirement. The elf doesn't have much space. Do not enable so many things. If you must have all those things, at least enable LZX compression and EXT-UPX compression.

same problem...
even friend of mine from opal have same problem..
dont know y this happen?
wait for the owners.
Looks like there is a corruption somewhere in the kitchen. It is affecting every device. I think it has to do with the executable I changed last minute before updating the kitchen. I'll check myself on my computer.
any update yet?
I've been home sick with the flu so I haven't even touched my computer since. I will let you know more tomorrow. I should get some time to work on it, then.
Get well soon! We are awaiting yout kitchen, seems to be really nice once finished

oh sorry to here...get well soon.
i m very eager to try this new kitchen...
Thanks guys.
Do me a favor.
Go to your sources folder and delete the "_Compress" folder then try to cook and flash a ROM. If it works, then that was the problem all along... he moved the folder to another location but the kitchen still reads both.)

[KITCHEN] Basic ROM Kitchen for aspiring Dream cooks [PC/MAC]

Hi guys,
Over at the HTC Hero forum I have been developing a kitchen to help ordinary people learn how to build their own ROM. It allows you to do basic things such as rooting a shipped ROM, adding apps2sd, modifying the task killer memory threshold, etc.
The appropriate settings are now in place to make it work for the Dream.
Here is the link to the kitchen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
Before you flash your new custom ROM made from this kitchen, please make a Nandroid backup first of your existing ROM!
Thank you, and enjoy!
Working so far on Ubuntu, figures I just learned how to use git and make my own EBI1 kernels 2 days ago, thanks for this. I'll let you know once I flash a rom how it goes.

Cool, thanks. I am most concerned about how the wireless tethering option will work on the Dream because it requires a kernel fix for Android 1.5 and 1.6. The kitchen is supposed to do that automatically but it will replace your existing kernel.
BTW looks like you are from my home town of Edmonton!
It's not booting, I used my own nan sys and boot img's, set up a working directory and then rebuilt, long time at rogers screen and then boot animation for a minute then a blank back-lit screen, I'll logcat and post it later, time for work.
Is this compatible with the EBI1 dream?

I may need to go to EBI0 to test if it replaces the kernel?

What is different about EBI1 from a kernel level? If all you did was extract the system and boot.img, and then build without modifying anything, then that should work.
EDIT: If this is a customized ROM (e.g. with custom kernel) then the update-script file under META-INF\.... may need some manual tweaking. The Option 1 in the menu is recommended only for stock ROMs, because this option creates a simple generic update-script file.
If you are indeed using a custom ROM then I'd try to get the original update.zip file of this ROM, which already has the correct update-script file. Just copy that update-script into your existing kitchen.
Or even simpler, just use the original update.zip file and run Option 11 instead of the Nandroid backup.

I am not familiar with all the different Dreams, but it will replace the kernel if you have a 1.5 or 1.6 ROM.
It works on my rogers dream, I took the original rom for the g1, set up a working directory, replaced the launcher, took out a few apps, replaced the boot.img and wlan.ko with the ebi1 compatible versions I compiled and put in my own prop files, booted right up, thanks for this. Can't test the tethering thing as it'll change the kernel on me.

What would happen if I just replaced the wlan.ko and boot.img-kernel in the dream_1_6_update folder with my ebi1 versions? could I test out the add wireless tether option?

I'm not sure exactly what the modified boot.img-kernel in the kitchen has, but I'm guessing it's a couple of networking-related variables that were changed. If your kernel has those modifications then maybe it will work. Doesn't hurt to try
Let me know if it works, then we can use your version for individuals who are cooking Rogers ROMs.
A question: Is it possible to tell that a ROM is for a Rogers Dream (ie. somewhere in the build.prop)? In that way, the script can automatically decide what action to take.

Since it's the HTC Magic, yes it should! Please try and let me know.
I'll create a thread for this in the Magic forum so that people can post their feedback there. Thank you
EDIT: Here's the thread where you can post Magic/myTouch 3G feedback:

Just do a search in XDA for Mytouch/Magic shipped ROMs. Usually there are links to the original ROMs in the Wiki page for your device.

I'll try it out tonight, the sources I used to compile were wes's and his kernel has tethering support unless I broke it, I've never used tethering before.

Tethering is actually useful even if you don't need it all the time, eg. if your desktop PC cannot access the internet or your wife is using an iPod touch to access the internet in a restaurant.
So do Rogers Dreams require a special kernel, due to the 911 fix? So I guess the stock ROM update has the proper kernel, but modifications like the wireless tether for a Rogers Dream would require a patched Rogers kernel.
