Hi,
o2 germany released a few days ago a WM6 Rom for the XDA Orbit: http://www.o2online.de/nw/support/downloads/software/xda/xdaorbit/index.html
The Xda Orbit has the same specification like the Prophet + an integrated gps-mouse.
i didn`t tried to flash, because i think that the update will recognize that my device is not an Orbit and i don not want to brick my device.
will a nvid-version of this rom work with the prophet?

sorry, but i don't understand you question!
I don't know much of the difficulties or lack of, in porting these roms but I suspect it will involve more than just the vender id. You're right, the specs are pretty much the same though. Wasn't there some updater or something for the wizard which let you use any rom? I might have dreamt or imagined it, but have some memory of people using it for prophet with wizard or some other roms, and having problems with buttons, or something? Anyone remember that.

Better to continue here indeed
I've downloaded the file and noticed that it's not an EXE like other updates. Believe you even have to install it from SD-Card.
If there is anything somebody can help with, just let us know

From the first look, it will be tricky, it's missing things in the OS
however, It might be possible to get drivers for the missing parts from other ROMs (AKU 3.2 or official 2.2)

jesterz, if you do cook us up a rom can you use the official qtek as the base rather than pdamobiz, all those roms you did based on that one have been rock solid.

I couldn't find info if there is a difference between the Dopod 818Pro and Dopod 818. If there even are two different types? But it seems to me that the Dopod 818 (pro?) is yust another Prophet, so the answer would be: Yes

this is going to be a hard one people
the buildimage stops on certain dll files, so it's a one by one process
meaning it will take time ! (I have a full time job next to this....)
however i'm still trying
In the mean time, I'm also looking at farias ROM released for the wizard and hope to have a beta out soon for the prophet.

The latest official ROM from Dopod is ver 2.15. You can download this from the official site www.dopodasia.com. You have to register before downloading it, so have your IMEI ready.
You may also opt for an unofficial or cooked ROM. Howver these are not official Dopod818 Pro ROMs. They are Wizard ROMS that are customised or cooked to work on the Prophet. Expect minor problems here and there, depending on the ROM you choose. Installation for these ROMS varies on the customised ROM that you select.
If you look hard enough on the internet you will also find a WM6 ROM running around for Prophet. This is based on a leaked beta WM6 (Crossbow) ROM for the Wizard. It is known to be quite buggy though.

There's no point backing up your current ROM because you would not be able to restore it after you put a different ROM. In theory you can, using Sprite backup, but it is NOT recommended.
Backup your contacts, etc by synching with your PC and if you don't like the new ROM just install the official ROM from Dopod again.

Well, my favourite is the latest PDAVIET ROM, but it's for Universal (This is a Uni, not Hermes forum)

Sorry, reread it, yeah, I understand now, I reommend the PDAVIET ROMS (the latest one which came onto these forums yesterday is probably the best)... The do get updated very often...
what is the latest rom for teh sda/tornado/etc... my wm6 does not work too well and would want wm5 that is stable fast and can do anything... no need for mods to make it work right...

I disagree -- WM6 does work well on the SDA. Using "Karhoe's Step-by-step pictorial guide to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6" referenced in this thread, I was very successful upgrading my SDA from WM5 to WM6. I've got everything I've tried so far working so I'm a happy camper!!!
I agree, I also have an SDA, and while I've had to play around with a few things to get it just right, I'm in a nice happy place. If you want a rom that's got most of the knicks worked out, try the Perfect English Edition Rom here.

don't ever bother to upgrade because your device is a typhoon/feeler/amadeus variant which is running wm2003se. this ROM is for tornado variants only which is running wm5. however you can still upgrade it to wm5 or wm6. read here.

Perhaps most things work well, but there is a post by Karhoe about WiFi not working. I use WiFi more than anything else. I can tolerate some bugs, but any that causes problems with WiFi will probably cause me a lot of grief.
I will probably try WM6 soon anyway. Grief or not, I can't help but upgrade to the newest version of everything even if it causes more problems than it solves.

it didnt even analyze my phone couldnt detect it at all, and if what these other people say is true then it again is pointless, but one day a programmer will recompile a WM6 for the magician one way or another, its NOT impossible as others might think

Don't use these ROMS on your Magician. You'll definately 'brick' it.
Prophet ROMs, will work on a Charmer, but will 'brick' your Magician (different addressible registers).
