Closing Program Using the OK Button in HTC TyTN - General Topics

Hi,
i would like to find out how to do that in my HTC TyTN.
i tried AE Button Plus v2.5 and PQzII but i cant do it?
any advise for a noob like me?
Thanks for your time.

Did you try HandySwitcher 3.0?
http://www.dinarsoft.com/handyswitcher/
We have added special support for the (OK) hardware button.
After you install, open the options dialog and turn it on.

I just found and installed this. Seems to work great. From HTC.
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-htc-x-button-v1-50.html
Edit : Whoops. My bad. This doesn't work with the physical button, just the corner screen button.
Good app though.

Thanks dude for your help, will try all of them and post here which is better.
Cheers

hm.. tested all the above mention apps. found that only Handy Switcher v3.0 fits me best.
why i chose Handy Switcher and not the rest:
- it really maps the OK button on my TyTN to close the running program that i wanted like Contacts, Message, etc...
- it user friendly and good UI.
The only negative i find is that the file size is the largest compare to the others.
Thanks everyone for your help

HandySwitcher is infact the best. It is lightweight too IMO when you see the other host of features it has. Take a look at its review at my site..

[SKN] 24-09 WVGA Calculator skin

Because the standard calculator skin from htc is not really good looking, I made this skin for it. It's a pretty dark skin in combination with dark red.
hope you like it
I've uploaded two new zips for each version of calculator.
This skin is now completely compatible with version 1.0 and 1.1 of the htc calculator.
Guide:
Just install the cab with you're version number on your device and you're ready to go. (no soft reset needed)
When you don't like it just uninstall the cab and give you're device a soft reset. and windows will do the rest
Please leave a comment whether you like it or not
ps. the attached pictures don't look really sharp, but when installed the buttons look very good.
looks gd! thanks!

Okay I think that the version is the problem, because I use version 1.1. maybe If you can upload the original calculator .bmp files out of your windows folder I can have a closer look. They are named under: Calc_...
edit: I forgot only one thing, there is also one .png file I need: calc_lcdres_p

Alternatively, did you download version 1.1, or was it preinstalled?

Okay thank you very much I will have a look at it
and yes version 1.1 was preinstalled on this rom
As you all can see I've uploaded two new files, one for version 1.0 and one for 1.1. The digits in portrait mode should work now for version 1.0
I only don't understand why the landscape mode doesn't work. Can someone upload a screen shot from the landscape mode with my skin installed?? Would be great
no change to display
I cant get it to work on my touch HD. I have installed both seperately and neither make any change to the calculator. am I missing something?

Which version of calculator are you using?? maybe you are using a different version then 1.0 or 1.1
You can see this by clicking the "about" button in the calculator.
i dont have an about setting in my calculator. it is the standard one that comes with the device. is that the problem? do i need to install another version?

Okay that's strange. There should be a softkey named: "about" in the lower right corner of the screen when you startup the calculator.

oh well never mind. yours does look very nice though, shame i cant try it out. i might try it next time i do a hard reset, it'll probably work then. i do tend to install all sorts of rubbish on my machine and then have to rebuild it every now and then.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this - it's a great skin you've come up with, so would be good to get it working! Here are screenshots with v1.0 cab installed, with my v1.0 HTC calc.
1st pic show portrait calc with no numbers entered.
2nd pic shows display with "123456789" entered.
3rd pic shows landscape.
Essentially the same results I get if I use the v1.1 cab as well.

Suggestion for phone dialer and/or contact manager ?

I am looking for a better phone dialer and contact manager than the original. Any suggestion ?
Try Inesoft Phonex. Not free, but its really good. Another one would be Resco Contacts manager, again not free, but also good, especially coz u can link it with Facebook.

Oh yeah, forgot bout them. iContactBE (BurtEdition) along with iDialer, good combination!
Thank you for your answers. I tried to install the new dialer (iDialer) but the hardware phone button opens the built-in dialer while the touch phone button on today screen opens the new one. Do I have to uninstall the built-in dialer ? How can I do this since I don't want to use both ?

As far as i know, u cant disable the default dialer without some difficult configuration within windows, which i dont know. (maybe a more knowledgable member can help u)sorry.
But with the others that i mentioned, they do override the default dialer. iehonex.
I really like the cool looks of iDialer. The same problem with Resco trial though.
I also tried the iContactsBE but I think it is not suitable for the screen resolution of my phone (letters are too small, almost unreadable).

Where did this come from? Interesting....
From the DroidX
How is it compared to Smart Keyboard Pro or Better Keyboard?
my two requests for it are for someone to fig out how it to use the stock dictionary and get vibrate to work! then this would be best keyboard ever.
What is the major benefit to a multi-touch keyboard? Can it actually keep up with my crazy quick typing now?
Would be perfect with working haptic feedback.
yup that is all it needs.
personally, i don't like the haptic feedback....multi touch will be awesome however
It already is multi touch.

I have to be rooted to install this, correct?
ugh, it still does the smart keyboard pro thing where it won't register the first letter if you release it at the same time as the next key is pressed.. anybody else know what i mean?
Agree with the dictionary suggestion.. not crazy about the size of the letters or the combo. /, button next to the space bar. I'll try it out for a bit and see how it goes. Seems pretty good otherwise and multitouch works as it should. Thanks op for posting this.

HTC Sense Gadget for Windows

I found today a great Windows gadget that looks like the clock - weather combo in Sense. You can find more at http://htchome.codeplex.com/.
I liked it... Perhaps you will too .
Thanks for sharing, can you let us know if any bugs found?

There's a link for bug reporting on the site. The only one I found so far with ver. 2 is that at midnight, the days in the weather forecast are not updated. I just close the application and run it again to circumvent this. I found no other problems on Windows 7 x64.
It´s working perfect after 5 days testing
Wow this is VERYcool
Thanks man...
MOD EDIT: Please Watch Your Language, Edited It. Consider This A Warning.
Thanks for sharing Pedmond! Much better than the standard Windows 7 Gadget.
Awesome

HTC Home 1.0 doesn't support Fahrenheit, and the alpha version of HTC Home 2.0 supports it, but it's broken.
That's kind of a dealbreaker for me. My mind doesn't function in Celcius! I'll bookmark the page, and wait for the next build of HTC Home 2.0.

It does that, as any other programs. Only the sidebar gadgets stay put. I agree that's a bit annoying, but it's still a great gadget.
I believe remembering the author stating that he had no intention to transform it into a sidebar gadget, so that's that...
now only if they can do a "email" app just like the htc sense.. that'll be an amazing widget.. and if they integrate the reply dialogue into the widget.... that'll be a good seller!
Wow, this is what I have been waiting for.. thanks!
That behavior can be eliminated by selecting stay on top.
I do not have that problem even with no selecting stay on top
Here working perfect

[FREE][APP] Fifteen

Here is My latest app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dev.fifteen
The famous puzzle game 15 has fascinated many mathematician minds.
Can it be solved?
Do all starting positions have a solution?
How many number of turns does is take to solve?
Do You dare to find out?
People would be more willing to try the app if your thread's design was better. Also the headline isn't very informative, most people will skip it. Just sayin'
You are of course right. The thing is, I am a good Developer but I am a bad Designer.
I have absolutely no creative sense what so ever.

I can not reproduce it. It works fine in the emulator and on My test device. What I think has happened is that the device's physical volume buttons are overriding the in game settings. If that indeed what happened, it is not a bug but a normal behaviour according to Google's Guidelines. And it is against the Guidelines to override this behaviour.
Hi,
I just tested the app. Looks cool and is working nicely. However, I recommend to add an additional 'do you really want to reload' checkbox to the "refresh" shortcut. Otherwise this button can be pressed easily and will destroy the currently running game. Further you should try to support different screen orientations. That's one of the games I for some reasons want to play in landscape mode.
Thanks for your consideration.
Best Regards,
Benjamin
