I am looking for a better phone dialer and contact manager than the original. Any suggestion ?
Try Inesoft Phonex. Not free, but its really good. Another one would be Resco Contacts manager, again not free, but also good, especially coz u can link it with Facebook.

Oh yeah, forgot bout them. iContactBE (BurtEdition) along with iDialer, good combination!
Thank you for your answers. I tried to install the new dialer (iDialer) but the hardware phone button opens the built-in dialer while the touch phone button on today screen opens the new one. Do I have to uninstall the built-in dialer ? How can I do this since I don't want to use both ?

As far as i know, u cant disable the default dialer without some difficult configuration within windows, which i dont know. (maybe a more knowledgable member can help u)sorry.
But with the others that i mentioned, they do override the default dialer. iehonex.
I really like the cool looks of iDialer. The same problem with Resco trial though.
I also tried the iContactsBE but I think it is not suitable for the screen resolution of my phone (letters are too small, almost unreadable).

Personally I don't think this appz works...cause when I go into setting and memory ....my appz is still open...and yes I have mark the x to close the appz in HTC setting.
x-button is working fine, its not enoguh to install it though, next step is to TURN close option ON in menu start/settings tab system end of list......
but if you need nice alternative...
switch 1.25 is neat app, imo, icon can be set anywhere on taskbar , nad remembers its position with portrait/landscape independently..

yes I do have enable x button to end running programs if that's what you mean.
the only thing it doesnt work for is activesync-for some reason it will still show as running from all my experiences.

Hi,
i would like to find out how to do that in my HTC TyTN.
i tried AE Button Plus v2.5 and PQzII but i cant do it?
any advise for a noob like me?
Thanks for your time.
Did you try HandySwitcher 3.0?
http://www.dinarsoft.com/handyswitcher/
We have added special support for the (OK) hardware button.
After you install, open the options dialog and turn it on.
I just found and installed this. Seems to work great. From HTC.

Edit : Whoops. My bad. This doesn't work with the physical button, just the corner screen button.
Good app though.

Thanks dude for your help, will try all of them and post here which is better.

hm.. tested all the above mention apps. found that only Handy Switcher v3.0 fits me best.
why i chose Handy Switcher and not the rest:
- it really maps the OK button on my TyTN to close the running program that i wanted like Contacts, Message, etc...
- it user friendly and good UI.
The only negative i find is that the file size is the largest compare to the others.
Thanks everyone for your help

HandySwitcher is infact the best. It is lightweight too IMO when you see the other host of features it has. Take a look at its review at my site..

Hey guys, is there a cab to move the lock screen to the bottom of the screen instead of the top?
I tried to install swipe to unlock, but when i unlocked it with this app, it went back to the lock screen.
So i was wondering of there was a stand alone cab for this?
Thanks guys

Working great on my HD2. Cheers
Hi, very nice, but is there a slider which does not work only the horizontal way?
I think it would be a lot better if the slider was some sort of an arc which follows the natural movement of the right (or left) hands thumb!?
Is there something available?
Great app!
Works fine with my HTC HD2.
Thanks a lot, finally I can answer my phone onehanded!
thanks! i've tried and it works so far! many thanks!
Its working on my HD2 (Singapore SingTel set)... Thanks!!!
I'm not using swipe to unlock, is there a version where I can just get the lock button to the bottom but standby button retains locking functionality?
Edit: Ignore me, Thought I couldn't lock anymore. =p
I also got some Lockscreen at the Bottom with a cab for the original one.

AFAIK, if it's a cab, it can be uninstalled. I installed the Center slider cab. The other one seems to be to revert back tot he original Leo. If uninstalling doesn't fix things, install that original cab.

LOL!!!
No it don't mate. It doesn't do that at all. Files do not slow down "the phones processor"
Anyway, save them in the "my documents" folder on the storage card. That should work. If it don't, save them on the phone in "my documents". It REALLY doesn't have a detrimental effect on the phone's performance at all.
Just installed the .cab, but nothing happens? Are you ameant to be doing anything else to change it?
Edit: Seems like I needed to restart it, as it worked when I turned it back on. Didn't like it so reinstalled the orginal one.
Hi,
I can't remember the name of the app which was a dialer/contact app. It looked as though it was inspired by MIUI. Initially it was missing the * and # keys and the dev fixed it. I searched for various key words, but can't find it. I know it was red and black and white I think with some green. It looked very nice and had t9 search capabilities.
Do any of you know the name? Its driving me crazy that I can't recall the name.
RESOLVED: it's "Youlu Address Book", thanks teejaymarx!
nubdial works well, is that it?
Try youlu its really good and attractive

Hi, I can't find a way to search contacts while typing their name or number in the stock dialer.
I mean, if I type the first two digits of my gf number in my old i5500, it showed her name. Is it possible on this device to do the same, without resorting to external apps (like I'm doing right now with aContacts)?
Thanks.
My Nexus S, for your info, is a i9023 SCLCD, rooted, using NSCollab.
There are few dialer apps on the market that do this. Dialer one, Go Contacts and dialer 2 are 3 that I have used. Also do a search for T9 Dialer. Enjoy, cheers.

Yeah, I know. Did you actually read my post?
I'm using aContacts, I was just wondering if it was possibile to do this in the stock dialer, or there was a modded dialer apk, who knows
Sorry I did it but I guess I read it too quickly or you edited it while I was typing. Hope you find an answer.

No problem Thanks for the help anyway!
You can hit the search key when on the contacts tab, but that's as close as you'll get without using a 3rd party app.
I see. That's funny, because a low-end phone like the i5500 had this really useful feature integrated in the OS. Go figure.
Yeah, I don't get it either.
I've become quite fond of GO Contacts, though.
I just tried mydialer, it is smokin fast. I like go as well. Bummer that GB doesn't have this as stock.
Go Contacts is better than aContacts, thanks It's even better than default contacts
