Hi!
I upgraded from Windows Mobile 5.0 to Windows Mobile 6.0 Faria's Kitchen Rom. But after my upgrade, the device sometimes won't turn on and I have to perform a hard reset to turn it on. Is anyone else having this problem? Does this bug exist in Windows Mobile 6? I have searched the forum for a solution for my problem but did not find anything.
I've never had that problem. Have you tried downloading the ROM again and performing another flash? It could be a corrupted ROM. You could also try a different WM6 ROM if you still have power issues after re-downloading and re-flashing.
Can this problem be software I have installed related. So far the programs I have installed are SPB Shell, SPB Pocket Plus, SPB Diary, SPB Weather, SPB GPRS, SPB Backup, XCPUScalar, psShutXP.

Any of the cpuscalars can do this if you set the min value too low. I keep my min at 143MHz or 147MHz with BatteryStatus' cpuscalar. For me going much lower causes issues after my phone goes to sleep (including not waking up).
Actually I am running it at 234 MHz. The stock is 195 MHz. I guess the software is not compatible with Windows Mobile 6. What are some working overclocking programs for Windows Mobile 6?

Anything that "Starts on it's own", must be installed to the Device, not SDcard!
Are all of yours installed to the card?
Yes that might be the problem then. I have installed some of the things that start on their on to the SD Card to save space. I reinstall these programs. Thanks for the tip!

The problem is that the hx2xxx series use the non-phone version of WM. Check out this link..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=385574
Read through that and the attached files will allow it to run. Just pop them into your /windows directory before you install HTC home.

Dear Asbestos,
1. I unzipped the two dlls into my windows directory
2. Made a soft reset
3. Installed the HTC Home (HTC.Home.v2.1.1005.722.Directory.And.Brightness.Fix.schen.cab)
4. Made a soft reset (again)
...the plugin is listed in the Today plugins but its not displayed in my today screen
- I installed the htc home customizer (HHCv10Final.CAB) but still no luck...
Any ideas?
Thank you very much for your time.

I am not from Greece, although that would be cool. I am from the great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina USA!
Now, I am currently installing HTC home on my hx2490. I usually do not have this on my PDA since I have the old style that only has 12MB or so storage space in WM6.1. I attached the HTC install I use and it works fine. There are some different versions out there but this one works for sure. I also put a picture of it running on my PDA for you to see. Take these steps:
1. Uninstall any HTC home you already have
2. Install the xplode version
3. Go into settings and to the today settings and change what you need to and then when you exit, it should be on your home screen.
If you have any questions, let me know!

Nice collection
Here is what I would do if you are bound and determined to run HTC home....
Uninstall everything or hard reset (would be faster)
Run it with HTC home for a few days and see if it makes it. Add a program one at a time to the mix. It might take a bit but a program could be causing the problem. I have not had a single reset after my upgrade so I am leaning towards another program causing interference.

Hey!
I know that way very good (from my old battery drain issues)... and yes its the best wat to check the software for conflicts...
...so I must forget the Home plugin... (uh its ok, i can live without it).
I cant handle another hard reset that month
Thank you very much for your time and your support
Dimitris
What I like the most about HTC home is the large clock. I usually use the panasonic time plug in. Search for it if you are interested. Nice large clock.
I have Pocket Digital Clock (PDC) installed and its cool!
but i will try your suggestion too!
Thanks my friend
After a hard reset, the application is working GREAT!
No problems, after 2 weeks full of testing!!!!
So, can someone (asbestos maybe? ) suggest a good version of touchflo to install on my hx2790 please?
I am not a big fan of the touch flo type screens, just me personally. I guess on my Hermes, Apache and titan they just take up too much resources. I have not tried any on my hx2410 since it is an old one with the 96 meg rom.
I would bet that any of them would work very well on the hx2795 though as long as you have enough storage space. These are some very fast devices even compared to alot of the new ones.
I recently bought a new SDHC card and decided to hard reset the PDA (FSC loox N560 with WM6) and install everything from the begining. The problem is that WLM will not work. I tried installing 10.6.33.0600 and 10.6.34.0800 but neither of them work. It installs ok, but the messenger doesn't even start (it doesn't show in the list of active programs). I tried cleaning the registry in safe mode and everything but the darn thing refuses to work. The funny thing is that before the hard-reset WLM worked like a charm. Btw I'm installing on device memory not the card. Anybody has any insight on this?
The list of currently installed programs:
Paragon Software PenReader
JetCet print5 SDK
Chapura PocketMirror
Microsoft .NET CF 3.5
Garmin Mobile XT
DVHA_79 Adobe Flash3.1 plugin
Adobe FlashLite
Opera Software 9
Macromedia flash Player ActiveX
SPB Weather
Pocket Xpdf
WebIS FlexMail
Spb GPRS Monitor
Pocket Mechanic
Resco Explorer
Resco Keyboard Pro
GreateVK & 777-Team - SD Drivers for SDHC
I'll be grafeful for any solution to this
UPDATE: i did a hardreset again and the first thing (after SDHC driver) I installed was WLM and it doesn't work... I tried all the available versions and no luck. I guess it's the SDHC drivers then? Anyone with similar experience?
Hi,
I have recently upgraded my XDA Orbit 2 to the new UK O2 Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM and everything seems ok excpet for an issue I am having with Sprite Backup. Was wondering if anyone else was having similar issues.
I'm running the full and latest version of Sprite Backup 6.5 which claims to be WM6.1 capable and it works fine until I install SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Diary. When these are on my device Sprite Backup will just hang at the early stage of backup and the device has to be soft-reset. This problem did not occur before I upgraded to WM 6.1.
I appreciate that SPB Diary and Pocket Plus don't claim to be 6.1 compatible yet but they seem to work fine in their own right. The only issue is that I cannot backup my device with them installed.
Any ideas?
Tom
Mystery
Having tried two hard-resets and rebuilds, each of which resulted in the behaviour described in the post (i.e. Sprite not working) I have tried again and it now seems to work fine.
Only thing I can think of that might be different is installation order but can't see why this would make a difference. Any way it seems to work now so all is well.
Would still be interested if anyone else has had this issue and found the actual cause.
I had an issue with sprite backup, similar to what you described.
How i solved it was I switched to spb backup
I also use spb diary, but not pocket plus.
Does that work?
Sprite failed me again last night. Having thought the problem was fixed I scheduled a backup for last night only to come down this morning to find the backup had been hung for 3 hours resulting in a nearly flat battery as the backlight stays on throughout! Looks like problem is still there after all!
Only switched to Sprite from SPB a year or so ago as only time I ever needed to restore from backup SPB failed me. Tried a few tests after rebuilding and got reliable restores from Sprite but never from SPB.
Haven't tried SPB Backup version 2.x though so assume it might work better now. Given that Sprite doesn't seem to work on my Config it can't work any worse.
Hi Everyone.
Backup is very big problem for me...
I just need a best correct backup.
Please tell something if you know about wich is the best backup soft?
I'm looking on SPB Backup and Resco Backup...
If you know another just tell please.
The best app is spirit Backup
^ or even 'Sprite back-up'
SPB Backup is the best. It´s always without any issues to recover my data

Hi all!
I use Microsoft My Phone to backup data.
There is a lot of advantages using SPB Backup, instead of Microsoft Software?
Thanks

With "My Phone" you can:
* Back up your phone automatically
* Share photos on your favorite social networking sites
* Access your contacts, text messages and more online for free
* Locate your lost phone
@ myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po?lc=1046&mkt
I have 200Mb on my account.

but you cannot backup your operating system. It´s only for backup your data. Even if it does it´s work very well, it´s only a part of the functions that real Backup software provides
With spb backup and resco backup i had problems on custom roms.
Only "SK tools" help me SK tools - is the best backup program.
+1 for SPB Backup
Had troubles with both Sprite and Resco. Never with SPB. I using it since WM2003
SPB Backup the best!
SPB Backup & SK Tools sucks
SPB do not stop properly all HTC processes. The problem has being acnowledged by SPB. The work arround is to disable Sense, kill startup folder and reboot before restore.
My HD2 hangs on SKtools scheduled backups.
Now I'm experimenting with Resco
+1 for SPB Backup
I use it since my first WM2003 HTC Device without any problems.
never experienced problems with SPB, restored dozens of times on official and custom ROMs on different devices.
I used to Resco backup on my Blackstone, it worked fine, but when upgraded to Leo I cannot successfully restore my settings. So I moved to SPB witch is fine....
I use Sprite Backup, never had a problem. It's the only application who really closes all processes before backup.
There is only a small transparency problem with the icons on the HD2 screen i've never seen on other devices, but the job is done perfectly anyway.
I had problems in the past with Spb and Resco.
Only SPB Backup!
one advantage of SPB Backup (over Sprite) is addintional app called 'SPBBackupUnpack' which allows you to unpack your backup (files and full registry) on your PC
Howdy all... I'd like to install my old copy of SPB's Phone Suite on a PocketPC that I own. However when I try to install it says that it can only be installed on a device with a phone.
My PocketPC is an ASUS a626 running Windows Mobile 6.1. Does anyone know a way that I can install this? Is there a way to "fool" the installation program as to what device I'm installing on? What I'm really looking for is the additional profiles to interact with Mobile Shell.
Ideas?
Small correction... or perhaps a major correction?
I'm running Mobile 6 classic. Is the fact that it's classic what would prevent Phone Suite from loading?
Well, solved my own problem. I found a ASUS rom on here for wm6.1, loaded it up, and Phone Suite loads up fine. It's a classic vs. professional issue.
