I've read in other forums of this problem but have not been able to find a solution (not entirely true).....when I turn the phone on in the morning, it just keeps restarting without going to the home screen. Sometimes it take 2 reboots sometimes more. The only way it will boot up correctly right from the start is to take the mem card out, so I think that's probably the problem, but it's not a corrupt or problem card. Once the phone starts and I put in the mem card all is fine.
I want to try to format the memory card from the phone, but don't know how to. Anyone else know how to do this? Also any other suggestions or solutions?
I got this once. Somehow i got the phone on. I just took the card out and put it in when its about to restart. Mabye it was luck, but i dont know. But if you get your phone on again, I would certainly format it (clear storage)
Does your phone ever act up again after that? Mine still does. It turns on fine without the memory card in. By the way, how do you format the memory card on the phone?
Mine rebooted all the time until I removed Facade. Hard Reset the phone and didn't install it and haven't had the problem since. I know Facade isn't "compatible" yet with WM6, but other than rebooting it worked fine.
Really....I'm going to try that and see what happens.
For those that have this problem, it's true. Once Facade is uninstalled and a soft reset, the problem went away....
I had this happnen to me for the first time today. I had the phone off all night (was testing another device) and then when I put my SIM back in and powered up it went into this reboot cycle. powerd off, even took the battery out still no luck.
Then I took the SIM out and tried to power up and it came right up. Powered off and put the SIM back and it worked agian first time.
Not sure, but maybe the SIM was not fully seated... since this was the first time I actually took it out since I get the VOX...and this was the first time I had the problem...
Regards -John
I had the same problem, although I never installed Facade, Initially the phone was fine and the it started re-booting on startup. I saw a suggestion of running SKtools and removeing duplicates in the Notification table, this worked for a while, then it came back again.
At first the only cure appeared to be to re-boot without the sd card inserted - inserting it again after the phone was running (it even had the same problem with a blank card inserted)
I then read abot someone putting the phone in Flight mode before turning it off - this also solved the problem - better than removing the card each time.

After hard reset - lost option to store attachments on storage card
I had the same problem and solved it by hard resetting the device. However after the hard reset the option to user the storage card for email attachments has disappeared from the pOutlook options screen.
The SD Card is OK and I tried to solve it by a new hard reset, but it is still not resolved.
I would be very graefull for the one that has a solution for this.
I have the same problem with my SD card.
With the card inserted the phone keeps rebooting.
With the card removed it starts normally.
When I insert the card when WM6 is running the card is normal accessible.
Tried an other card and also a 1 Gb card. Same problem over and over.
I'm going to try a Kingston card.
If anyone has a solution, I'll be happy to hear it.
i have my microSD inserted when i power on my Vox but didn't have this problem. what rom version do you have? my rom version is 1.15.405.2.
I have a friend with a similar problem. Would appreciate any further input on this situation. Has anyone taken a look at Paul's (from Modaco) answer to soft reset loop????
Check it out and see if it does anything. Want to know if that'll fix it before I take the phone off his hands.
Hi all,
Like many Vox users, I've also suffered from this problem.
I've noticed two scenarios which helped me solve the "boot-loop". Hopefully they'll help others.
I once had a GPRS monitor application installed to my strorage card. Re-installing to the phones memory helped me.
Also, when I had bluetooth turned on, I powered down, powered-up again, and the phone booted okay!
I think theres a few variables involved in this, and no single "silver bullet". Hopefully HTC will provide an official fix soon.
Michael.
Friends,
Thats all humours. Don't need to remove/install any software. All work fine except you reboot and remove your SD card.
Its simple: if rebooting occurs, just remove SD card and once booted, reinsert SD card, simple! nothing else need to do.
Its true that its a bug with WM unfortunately; i don't know when would it be resolved.
i have tried to boot up with 512MB & 1GB sd card but never had this rebooting problem. Maybe you can let me know your current rom code version and i will try to verify the problem?
I have got the same problem my phone keeps on restarting...
when i put the mem-card after restarting it is being opened as storage card 2, and default storage card option asks for turning on the bluetooth.
Re: Rebooting of Vox
Hi,
Had this problem once (and drove me nuts!, I was out on tour, no PC access nothing).
I formatted the SD Card (Its always better to use a card reader and format it from a PC.
Another I had this problem (hope you are not as dumb as me ):
I use TPC and set it to ultra slow . So every time I booted up, the CPU was not simply powerful enough to cater to the power requirement and rebooted. I had to do a Hard Reset. Hope you have your contacts backup before you go for a hard reset

If you have bluetooth file explorer turned on, it will show as a storage card
i had it long time ago with one of the official htc roms.
The solution is to make loose the simcard-slot in the middle of the booting.
Vox will turn off.
Close and start the phone again.
It should be over then.
Re: Official ROMs
Yeah! The official ROMs suck! actually the best solution will be to switch to a custom ROM from Dr G/FH / fireburned, they are much much better feature wise/ battery backup wise and speed wise. I think HTC should try using one of those ROM as there official ROM

My brand new Vox is continously rebooting. The only way I can get it to boot is to take out the microsd card, then put it back in after it boots. The microsd card works fine afterwoods, but its really annoying.
Anyone else have this problem?
Looks like you installed something which the Vox doesn't like.
Perhaps facade? (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307378)
Had the exact same problem. Removing the microSD worked also.
Afterwards it was working fine. The problem started after installing
BatMonitor on the device. Removing it solved the problem permanently.
I would suggest you go through the programs you installed and check
to see wich one is causing the issue.
Thanks guys, I have a feeling you are both right and it is a programs I have installed. I wonder if it's newsbreak as my data file is on my microsd card. I guess I should wipe the device and start over....
For a temporary fix, remove the MicroSD, boot, then put the MicroSD back on.
For a more permanent fix: Install SKTools Lite and run the "Notifications Queue" tool. Then Press ACTION > Mark Duplicates. If you scroll down you will see some duplicates checked. Next press ACTION > Delete marked.
That should keep you running for a while. If the problem re-appears in the future, repeat this procedure.
Thanks. I read that post on Modaco too, but it didn't work for me. For now I just remove the microsd card when I reboot. I guess I will wipe the device and start over at some point...just had everything I wanted loaded right

Had the same problem. Thought it was the Facade, but it turns out not. I don't know what it is but I basically did a hard reset. Put everything I wanted back into the phone and than turned on without MSD card. Once it rebooted, I put the card back in. Since than no reboot problems so far.
I had the same problem, although I am not sure if it is related to installing any particular program. Initially the phone was fine and then it started re-booting on startup. yep, this happened to me, although i have no programs installed on my S710! (tho it did have a nasty drop onto the ground - which shouldnt realli affect it)took out the card, and it booted up fine! i keep my phone on 24/7 normally but had run outta battery!
Cheers!
Formatting the MicroSD card worked for me
Problem came back again today, and sett flight mode did not fix it, then i found this http://www.modaco.com/Continuous-reboots-t256186.html
which suggested renaming omap850_sdhc.dll to omap850_sdhc.dll.ol
but in my S710 I only have omap850_sdhc_mux.dll and that file is in rom and I can't copy or rename it.
Looks like it might be a sd card driver bug.

have you tried to edit the file with a copy of total commader??? sorry if it's such an obvious question...
I did try this with Total Comander!
Looking around at other posts/forums it looks like it is a WM6 problem. Probably related to the SD card driver.
At the moment the only consistant suggestion, is to reboot with the SD card removed and insert it when the phone is back up and running.
I managed to get the phone to boot with the SD card inserted!
I know that when booting that I do not run any applications which are installed on the SD card. But the home screen does display things which are located on the SD card - in particular the skype plugin, and the mru list display icons from files located on the SD card.
I change my homescreen to "Sindows Simple" which does not contain either of these and re-booted.
The phone came back up first time!
- Is windows trying to access the card too soon - before the driver has loaded maybe?

Not sure if its trying to access it to soon but with my HTC Herald I had similar problem. By removing and home screen plugin's related to the memory card, as well as any other links to the memory card such as storing PIE cache and saving pictures it seemed to work for a bit, but just as I thought I solved it, the problem re-appeared. Paul seemed to have fixed the issue for ppc's (sdhc dll that was causing the problem)but it doesn't seem as though the solution can be carried over because the vox is not SDHC. Another cause the some speculate is that there are multiple notifications that boot at the same time, maybe cleaning these would help.
On another note I have just upgraded my friend's vox to the dopod rom and it seems as if the problem has disappeared (hopefully for good.) I will try to invoke the problem again by running programs from the memory at boot and see if this nag has been squeezed out by HTC sister company. Has anyone else tried to upgrade to the dopod rom???
cheers
Hi,
I had previously removed duplicate notifications and ensured that no applications on the SD card were run at start up, including setting the browser cache back to the phone memory.
I can now cause the problem to occur or boot normally just by switching homescreens.
I edited my home screens xml to remove all plugins that refered to applications on the sd card, including the mru list - this home screen allows normal boot. The other version causes the re-boot loop.
Mike.
I can confirm that my numerous attempts to invoke the boot-loop after upgrading to the dopod rom have thankfully failed.

Ok so maybe the boot loop has gotten the best of me (atleast 40 hard resets) over the past couple of months, but the problems have been choked to death on my herald and the vox...any last words...

Hello,
Almost a year ago I purchased my Kaiser (an Orange Kaiser) ans started to flash my phone.
I have already used several ROM avaiable here: Dutty (sevearl versions), L26 (SEVERAL Versions), Hyperdragon, Mobile vista, etc, etc, etc. Have already tryed several versions of the Radio firmwares. 1.24, 1.57. etc. Also, have already tried almost EVERY Hard SPL avaiable and so far I had the same problem:
Few days after flashing the Kaiser starts do slow down its performence. For ex: I press the Call button and it takes 40 to 50 seconds to enter in the touchpad screen. Sometimes it don't even enter the the call screen.
It get worst: sometimes I get no signam from the phone even if i'm side by side to a antena (where any other phone have a strong signal).
The only solution: HARD RESET. I mean, after a hard reset it looks like its other phone. Strong signal, fast response.
I can't possible imagine that I'm the only one here with this kind of problem. Does anyone knows how to solve? Does anyone here knows ehy it happens?
PS: I have already tried configurations with diferent programs. I have already tried with and without S2L2, With or without HTC Home (most without), With and without pocket launcher, with and without today agenda and SPB calendar. Can only think that this is problem with something in the ROM or the radio since every single configuration had the same performance issues.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks
Dandare
I had a faulty SD card that was giving me similar problems to this. I think it was due to Coreplayer and Audio Manager scanning the faulty SD card for music and the read speed was really really slow on the card. Everything would grind to a halt. I bought a new card and everything was fine after that. You could also try formatting or removing the SD card to eliminate the card being the source of the issue.... but you'll probably turn around a say you don't have an SD card
Good luck...
Yeah recently I got this issue. The filesystem on my SD card for corrupt somehow, and I was unable to access anything on it via activesync (my pc) and my phone.
So I just installed some prob( i forget the name) and formatted the SD card, then re-flashed. And since then it's been quick as can be
Hey guys,
I've been having this issue as well. I have not found it to be my storage card as i have tried 4 different cards. i have put the cards on my BJII and it works without issues. I also have found that with some of my early L26 Flashes i would just ride it out and it would work again.
However i have not had my HDIII Pro for that long but i'm hoping that it would would do the same.
If someone does find a link to what is really going on i would greatly appreciate the advice.
Thanks
Also, I actually believe if you text message a lot (i mean basically excessivly) as my brother does, the device will slow down.
He has my older Hermes, and he has unlimited texting, but within 2 weeks he would have sent 1500-2000 text messages and recieved about the same ammount.
By that time his phone would start lagging and being a pain, so I would usually just do a new flash (or hard reset), since deleting that many texts normally would probably take 48 hours haha.
Anyway when it gets re-flashed everything runs normal and fine. But whenever the phone gets cleared everything is smooth again
So maybe it's the amount of text/emails you have? Idk
Going to test the SD card. I have a 4Gb SD card but I'm actually only using 1,4 Gb, so I can use a 2Gb with no problem.
This going to take a while since the phone starts to slow down after three or four days, but I'll let you guys know if it solved.
Thanks!!!!

If you have a vista based machine, It will correct the filesystem errors automatically, and you wont have to reformat...
Works great for me, My desktop is VU64, and my lappy is MCE2005. All the flashing happens on the laptop, and transferring files to the SD (Music & Movies) via WMP happens on the desktop.
Idem
I have same problem.
I try to found confirmation in italian dedicated forum , nobody has had the same problem.
After any minutes where the kaiser freeze , i do not have the same problem.
As is autoconfigured.
Now i used selfmade rom (by official italian rom, and hardSPL 3.29).
Sorry for my bad english
I have this problem that keeps repeating itself.
I have been using the latest BiffMod Rom for a few weeks, all has been fine until I moved some apps to the MicroSD card via the inbuilt application manager.
The phone works fine for a while and then one day, nothing. the phone doesnt want to boot or anything. After some investigating it turns out its the MicroSD card that is corrupt.
If remove it from the phone, the phone operates as expected, If I insert it, I either get freezing, or the safely remove SD card message. The card wont mount.
I have tried the card in a Windows PC and it will read the Fat32 but freezes after a while.
Now this is not the first time this has happened and the pattern is emerging that it seems to be when ever I move apps to the SD.
Has anyone else had similar problems, I have gone through 3 of the same card in about as many months, luckily I have a bunch of cards from work. But its super annoying.
completely The card ends up been completly useless.

Well, for one, Biffmod moves apps2sd automatically, using scripts and when you do it manually, you are messing with the mod. So, thats where you messed up.
Secondly, I too messed up a 16GB Class10 SD card but, was able to fix it by reformatting it in ubuntu then again in Amon_RA recovery menu. I originally had it formatted 1024MB ext4/96MB swap...when I re-parted it, I had to change the sizes for it to work. Now, its 512MB ext4/32MB swap.
Third, a guy (MrBurrito) gave me this script file he made to try and fix the card. You copy it to your sd card, flash it in recovery, wait 10-20 seconds after it finishes and, then reboot. It didn't work for me but, I'll attach it, maybe it can work for you.
I've been using Dexter's froyo v1.3 for a week or two now, with basically no real issues. About 3 days ago or so, when I powered on my phone - you know how the sd card symbol appears in the status bar right when u turn on phone, it's loading sd card - so I see that symbol, but unlike how it usually is, it doesn't go away after a second (after it's loaded). So I pull down status bar and the icon says "checking for errors" and it doesn't go away at all. SD card just won't load. Oh I should mention -just remembered - I turned it on and I got "error with sd card, you may have to reformat" (or something like that) right before and then it just changed to "checking for errors" after I took out the sd card and reinserted.
Anyways, so my SD card isn't loading, right. I figured it might have something to do with the fact that I was using the SD card that came with it which is low class (2). I tried putting it in an SD card reader and put into my computer and it showed up and worked with no issues. But it just wasn't working on my XT720. So what I did was, I happened to have an extra micro SD card lying around (this one class 4) and I put it into the XT720. It worked just fine. That was a few days ago.
A few hours ago, I was using my camcorder on XT720. After using for quite a while I got "sd card not present, sd card must be present to use camcorder". I left the application and went to settings and my sd card was registered as present. I then went to gallery but I got the same "sd card not present" thing. My phone felt very hot at the time, which I assumed because I was using it for a while. I figured it might be an issue of overheating causing weird things. So I decided to power off my phone for a while and see what happens.
Upon turning on my phone, I was greeted with the SD card icon in the notification bar and upon pulling down; "Checking for errors". Now this new SD card won't load.
This is a really big issue for me, because I really need the SD card for stuff. Both SD cards seem to work fine in SD card reader on PC. Please let me know how I can fix this...
(sorry for making this so long, just wanted to have all info available).
....
Apparently this looks like a huge, long unresponded to issue for many people and not specific to Dexter's Froyo: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2500
I'm going to try some of the solutions people posted, but problem seems unfixed for majority of users .
Gaaaaaah. My Android experience has been plagued with far too many issues....
What sucks is that if I want to flash back to stock to try to use warranty, I'm going to have issues if I need an SD card....
It seems you've already determined the issue, you have excluded the SD card(s) as the source of the problem. This leaves one thing - your phone is defective.
Flash it back to stock and send it in for service.
This issue has absolutely nothing to do with what software is on your phone.

You don't need the sdcard to flash a stock SBF with RSD lite.
I kept having same problem. If u are using move 2 SD or anything like that select auto and not Justin external I had to reformation my card about 3 times b4 I figured it out. Dexter posted somewhere not to use these apps.
similar issue with sd card
The only problem I've had with my sc card is that most of the time after my phone has been rebooted, the sd card will show up as not present once the phone has completely finished booting. Sometimes I can just reboot again and it will pick up on it but usually what I have to do is shut it down, remove the card, start it up and then once it indicates the sd card is not present I can reinsert and it loads just fine. I have an 8gb class 4 that came with the phone.

I tried that once (it was something mentioned in that link I posted) but it didn't work. I'll probably try it out again before attempting to use warranty.
I would also try reformatting the sdcard, just because Windows can read it doesn't mean there aren't issues with the card.
K, so I put it in SD Card reader and into PC and began transferring all the files on the card to a new folder. During this process I got a pop-up a bunch of times telling me specific files were corrupted and unreadable and couldn't be transferred (mostly music filer for the most part). I then formated the card to delete the remaining corrupted stuff. Now put into phone and it registers as being there and now things like camera are working.
Gonna have to see how it fares when stuff are actually on the card, but for now things are looking good.
Thanks for the help guys, will update if I encounter further problems.
EDIT:
And after transferring some music on to it, it still seems to be working fine. Needless to say, I'm quite happy I don't have to go through the hassle of flashing stock and then trying to get a device exchange for warranty...
Though I am slightly worried that the device itself will corrupt things again (since my other SD card also worked fine for a few days). But I did also do a complete factory reset so perhaps there was some app causing issues that no longer will... Guess we'll see what happens.
I had problems with my stock (Cincinnati Bell) SD Card doing a similar thing -- showing up as no card inserted. Sometimes rebooting did the trick in fixing it. Then my phone fried and quit working. I thought it was related.
After I received a new (refurb) from Motorola as a warranty replacement, I used that same card and was getting the same error. So I upgraded to a new 32GB class 4 card and still got the error. I upgraded to Dexter's ROM and it still continued. I'd keep rebooting (three to four times sometimes) and eventually it would go away.
Then I decided to pull everything off the card, reformat & give it an ext3 partition using the method in the video tutorial in these forums. I haven't had the issue since -- it's been about a week now.
My unrooted Galaxy S3 was working fine until last night, without warning and for no reason, it said my SD Card was blank. Nothing would show up, but occasionally, my photos returned! I saw this as the opportunity to stick my micro SD card into my PC and back it up, but alas...nothing showed up again. So I tried rebooting my phone. My phone gave me a message that it's "In Factory Mode" and gives me a transparent screen with yellow text stating my phone data.
I've removed my SD card, SIM card, battery, and rebooted multiple times to no avail. My phone has not had a single problem since yesterday, but now it just seems like a computer with a bunch of viruses! Any help?
I don't have a definitive answer for why your phone would have started having issues, but I would do a simple factory reset since reboots and battery pulls aren't working. If your phone was backed up with your google account, then it will be less painful when you are restoring your phone. Don't format your SD card yet...wait until you do a factory reset, and if it still gives you issues, format your SD card. Try those things. Sorry if that didn't help much!
Well the SDcard isn't working with the SDcard converter or the card reader, and it's not detectable in any other device. I have a LOT of important information on that card that I need. All of those folders. I simply want to pull that data so I can back it up and get a new SDcard. This seems to be a reccuring problem for Galaxy S3 owners. :\
In regards to the "FACTORY MODE" Error that leaves me with no locked screen or powerdown menu, I had removed the battery, mirco SD and sim card before rebooting. Then the message happened and hasn't gone away for a day. Once again, I am UNROOTED so I'm not sure what is causing this issue!
I'd say if the card isn't readable in any other device, then something is wrong with the card. Not much you can do if nothing reads it.
As for factory mode, I would still suggest doing a factory reset. It is in Settings - back up and reset. You could do it through the stock recovery program since you are unrooted, but it may be easier just using the route in settings above.
