I have the HTC Prophet (XDA Neo) but it never finds or displays any network. My biggest worries are, that i dont know if it is a software or hardware problem.
i did several hard resets, turned on the wifi in the comm-manager and no network is displayed altough there are several networks in this house ranging from secured to open networks...
i also tried programs like wifiknife and hitchhiker but no networks are displayed... wifiknife says that "tnetwln1 is found and ok" .... but then no APs are found...
I wonder now if the installation of the RUU-Prophet-G4-AKU2.2-2.20-2.47.21-Jester-r1.exe could bring me any help.
Can I install this on my Prophet? I think i have G4 and nothing installed since i bought it..
here are also my version numbers:
IPL 2.15.0001
SPL 2.20.0001
GSM 02.19.21
OS 2.15.4.47
ROM:2.15.4.47 GER
Date 3/9/06
RadioRom: 02.19.21
Protocol: 4.1.13.09
extROM: 2.15.4.140
I would appreciate any help. thanks. Avenarie
I have the similar problems. Although BT now works like a charm, WiFi is not possible at all. I cant connect to my Linksys WRT at home or at work using wpa-psk.
This is really annoying... any solution is worth extra beers.
Edit: sorry, i misunderstood. I'm using Jesterz 2.2 and cannot get a connection, but it lists all accesspoints correctly.
So Upgrade to jesterz may not be a solution for you
I have the same problem for 3 months on for now...and there is no solution i think. i'm starting to think of an harware problem but never bricked it or dropped it( an if it is a hardware problem how can i see the mac add of the wifi adapter when wifi is on right? ) complex problem.....sorry for the bad news...=(

The problem is that the GPRS web connection is refused or is impossible untill the VPA Compact is soft reset, or quicker, cycled through flight mode on then off. The GPRS web connection capability is there, but just needs this "reset" from time to time.
2 other colleagues using Vodafone and O2 on VPA Compact/XDA Mini find the same problem also, (so atleast it is consistent). ;-)
Should a ROM update to the 1.13.01 fix this? My VPA c is 1.11.01 GER. I do not want to update and risk ruining a perfectly working PDA if there is not a need. I am not by nature, comfortable in changing ROM versions unsupported on my phone..
Many thanks for any help you can give.
Cheers, Julian
hi ,
i have the same problem "from time to time" . I have a xda mini with
ROM Version : 1.13.01 and Radio 1.13.00
anybody has an idea ?
greets
same problem here with 1.13 radio rom. I upgraded from 1.12, hoping it would help, but did not much for me. I did read on the forum that it did improve for some others... it's worth giving it a try.
response from any of the experts....?
This now confirms that more people have an issue with GPRS connectivity. Strange thing is that the issue occurs with very variable frequency. When my VPA Compact was new it was seldom happening, but after a week of use and a few soft resets the issue happens more often than not.
Can any of the experts out there help us. The Telecom providers are not helping with this bug.
Cheers, Julian
Hi,
very weird GPRS internet problem here, I have two Himalayas on O2, have cloned the ROM (using SPB clone) onto both phones so both identical software, radio version, settings etc.
One of them will connect to O2 PAYG GPRS, always has.. setting from this site worked no prob. Other phone connects, then says "The page you are looking for cannot be found" in IE.
So (because the one that works has dings and scratches and I assumed the hardware was at fault on the other) I swapped the insides around. The only part I swapped was the main circuit board. But when I put the circuit board from the WORKING XDAII into the non-scratched covers of the NON-WORKING one it no longer works!!?! And the other phone now does work! Is some important GPRS chip located on the touch-screen/front cover part or something?
Very hard to figure out........ anyone familiar with that error in IE, when connection settings are definitely correct??
ROM 1.60.00WWE (have tried others)
Radio version 1.10.00 (have tried others - no difference)
Protocol 1337.18
ExtROM 1.60.50
Right now i am running the .1933 tnt build by it's right. When I was using wm5 I could always easily connect to my college's wifi service and it did so automatically. Now with wm6 the wifi network does not even show up as available and does not connect even when i try to force it to. Everything else works great but this minor problem is making me want to switch back to wm5, any idea whats wrong?
Hi
I have the same Rom and the same Problem, no Wifi reconnect.
It has been stated by the cook 'its Right' at the first page of TNT.1933 that "
- Some of roms have the issue with cannot open the wifi from the first time"
maybe by reflashing or flashing the other versions of TNT .1933 solve this problem,no harm in trying.
it seems to be a problem with every wm6 rom i have used. I can connect fine to my apartments router but other places i could normally connect to very easily with wm5, i now cannot with wm6. Anyone else have this problem?
edit: this is not a problem with it connecting directly, it will not even connect manually or even show that a certain wireless network is in range even though i know that it is. I have reflashed to the same result

Use the .318 build (Jaguar, XM6, Loon kitchen). Thats the only build that does not have this problem in WM6, all the other builds have the problem.
WiFi problems w/1933
I think I've had exactly the same problems w/several TNT versions after TNT4 which worked OK. Also similar problems with
I have NOT had a problem w/WiFi using NBD 9.2 which has worked for several weeks now w/o hitch! NBD 9.2 is (relative to 1933) thin on applications so U have to track down the cabs and load. That is why I tried 1933 recently. No wifi so I went back to 9.2.
Good luck,

Cingular 8125 G3

Radio 2.69.11 w/fix
I just met this for the very first time. Then it worked normaly. TNT5.0
Hi all,
I've got a Vodafone (UK) v1240 (HTC Tornado Noble variant) running ericjm WM6 For Tornado - HTC Edition ROM and GSM.02.61.01 / SPL.2.00.0014.
Every day or two, the 'G' symbol disappears from the bar at the top of the Home screen and doesn't return. GPRS is unavailable until I use the connection manager to turn the radio off and back on again.
This is *really* annoying as I use push email on a daily basis and often find ActiveSync in 'waiting for network' mode, even though I'm in an area with a good signal.
I've tried the registry hack of setting GRPS to 'Always on' and renaming the 'SuspendResume' registry value - but that doesn't seem to help this issue.
I've seen a few other grumbles on this forum and around the www about this issue - but no firm solutions. Can anyone shed any light on this - or suggest a fix?
the GPRS issue is fixed with the latest radio ROM update, did you run phil's WM6GSMUpdate? If not, get it from my tutorial in my signature
Thanks for the response karhoe.
I did apply WM6GSMUpdate while following an install guide similar to yours for ericjm's WM6 For Tornado - HTC Edition ROM.
I'll try re-applying it, but I believe it is already in effect as my radio version states: 4.1.13.28_02.61.01
Any other ideas?
Try this
I have the same problem when i use andot's ROM. I have also upgraded the radio to 4.1.13.28_02.61.01, but still not solved.
Finally, after i change my ROM to NiTroGenious' WM6 English 5.2.1616.18120 ROM, and upgraded my SPL to 2.00.0014, the problem has been solved. I am not sure whether is the ROM or SPL solve the problem.
If you want to upgrade your SPL, please find the link under NiTroGenious's signatures.
One thing I have seen even in my own phone (running VJs ROM v3.2) that depending on what's being refreshed on my home screen, the "E" symbol will disappear. In that case, it's not that my GPRS connection has dropped, it's just that the top bar isn't refreshing to display the symbol. If I force a home screen refresh, lo and behold it's back again. Could that be what's happening with you?
Hi folks !
I have a strange issue with my T7272. I have just installed Igo 2008 the last edition, beeline gps and GPS info to look after my GPS com port but nothing !
I tried to use google map but nothing at all ! I can try each port it's always the same problem, no gps detected...
I succeeded one time in updating through quickgps but since many days I can't anymore. It seems to dowload data and at 100% it says "Connection failed, try later" or in french "Echec de la connection. Veuillez essayer plus tard".
It won't work even with activesync.
I had the External GPS windows stuff enabled on com 4 with hardware port at "none" and 4800 for the speed. Enabled or disabled, it changes nothing.
What's your port conf ? Maybe mine wasn't well configured by HTC ?!
ROM 1.90.406.5 FRE
Date : 08/20/08
Radio Version : 1.02.25.19
protocol V: 52.33.25.17U
Try to start Beeline and Autodetect GPS...
As you can see,the internal GPS is connected to COM4,same as your external set. Maybe there is a conflict.
Yeah that's the point neither beeline nor igo can find the right port. It seems that you're using microsoft gps adapter. What's your hardware conf ?
I've also read that windows sip cab could interfer with the gps. I've tried to uninstall it but still nothing.
For the moment I'm using my old bluetooth gps receiver, it works great but I'm worried about my raphael internal receiver...
No one have had such problems?
When I first bought my TP, I had the same issue. After upgradind the radio and to a custom rom, I have never had the same problem again.

Interesting ! What's your rom version? I thought having the latest one.
No one tried to use his gps directly, without the "external GPS" adapter? then is it always com4?
My Rom was 1.90. and my radio was 1.02.25.19. I have upgraded to radio 1.02.25.19 and I have tried 5-6 custom roms ever since with no problems.
I think that my drivers are dead or for some reason there is a conflict or a bug in the registry. I'll backup all my stuff and make a hard reset...
Maybe I won't have to send my touch pro to HTC...
Wait and see !

How was this fixed for you, docmorphe?
Did you clear the gps data with the HTC_CleanGPSData.cab? Did you use the HTC_GPS_Tool?
I would have tried them before HR !!!
