GPRS connection difficulties to Vodafone.de - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

The problem is that the GPRS web connection is refused or is impossible untill the VPA Compact is soft reset, or quicker, cycled through flight mode on then off. The GPRS web connection capability is there, but just needs this "reset" from time to time.
2 other colleagues using Vodafone and O2 on VPA Compact/XDA Mini find the same problem also, (so atleast it is consistent). ;-)
Should a ROM update to the 1.13.01 fix this? My VPA c is 1.11.01 GER. I do not want to update and risk ruining a perfectly working PDA if there is not a need. I am not by nature, comfortable in changing ROM versions unsupported on my phone..
Many thanks for any help you can give.
Cheers, Julian

hi ,
i have the same problem "from time to time" . I have a xda mini with
ROM Version : 1.13.01 and Radio 1.13.00
anybody has an idea ?
greets

same problem here with 1.13 radio rom. I upgraded from 1.12, hoping it would help, but did not much for me. I did read on the forum that it did improve for some others... it's worth giving it a try.

response from any of the experts....?
This now confirms that more people have an issue with GPRS connectivity. Strange thing is that the issue occurs with very variable frequency. When my VPA Compact was new it was seldom happening, but after a week of use and a few soft resets the issue happens more often than not.
Can any of the experts out there help us. The Telecom providers are not helping with this bug.
Cheers, Julian

problems with o2 uk settings

Hi,
i have been tryin to get gprs and mms settings on my sp5.
I did the unlock procedure and then installed the o2 uk contract cab file from imate site, however whenever i try to use internet explorer it says:
"The current connection cannot be used for your request. Please end the current connection and try again".
Can anybody help me?
everything seems to work now! maybe it just took a while for the settings to activate?
That's good to hear!
Is it working fine on O2 apart from that? I'm considering upgrading to a C600 on Orange and changing it over to Vodafone (my main sim) and use the C500 for the orange sim.
John

GPRS re-connect issue...Pls help..

Dear All,
After studying all the valuable information here, I managed to upgrademy XDA ii to WM5. It is beautiful.
However, there is one problem. GPRS connection only works for 1 time. It is fail on the second reconnection UNLESS I reset the phone.
The FIRST connection works fine. data coming thru and ok. After disconnection when I try to reconnect it again, it will not connect. Giving a message saying the "modem is disconnected".
Please help. Thanks
same here. on an XDA IIi 2003se.
Hi, I had the same problem with my DoPod 818. But I installed Phone Alarm (http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.htm) which has an icon for connection and disconnetion GPRS and now it disconnect and reconnect perfect without resetting! Try it.
I have the same issue with my Wizard... I am wondering whether the newest version of SPB GPRSMonitor is causing the problem!? The problem occured after flashing the newest ROM (2.26 AKU2.3) - at the same time I also updated my GPRSMonitor version...

VoIP an wizard speakerproblem

In many threads ther is mentioned that some wizard users have problem to get VoIP running through teh phone speaker. So they have it through stereospeaker and the partner will get bad echos while speaking. So I started this thread to probably solve the problem.
1. there was an idee that it is an rom problem that maybe been solved by flashing original orwell --> I did and it didn´t work either.
2. somebody think it might be an hardware problem, that "old" wizard built before week 6 2006 do not support voip through internal speaker. --> this might be, because it fits to the posting in an other thread
3. it might be an registry thing:
But who can find these settings???
Or is it an dll problem?
Everyone who wants to answer should please psot the "wizard-age" the rom and what ever might be usefull to solve the problem for everyone.
Thanks
Hi
It's good to see that you haven't given up on solving this problem, sorry but I haven't come any closer to an answer.
Just for the record: To see when your Wizard was made, check the serial number.
Mine says S/N xx604xxxxxxx, the first number shows the year, the two next the week.
mine is from wekk 44 year 2005 - and I also didn´t came further
My wizard is week 9 2006 and I still have the speakerphone problem. I have tried both mUn and MB ROMs.

Oh one piece in the puzzle that it might be an registry or dll problemn and not a hardwareproblem.
Thanks
Just wanted to mention I've tried Radio ROM 2.19, 2.25, 2.47 and 2.69 - it didn't solve the problem.
One question to you, papamopps, does the Xplore 1.1 ROM have elatepushservice.exe (java for running WiFi in standby mode), so that you have have the WiFi task bar icon (with BatteryStatus Today-Plugin)?

The elatepushservice.exe is in windowsfolder. But I don´t know if it is running the way you want. But just pm anichillus - he will know it.
No body can help us?
Faria mentioned this:
There is a possibility but then we will loose bluetooth function.
Please - nobody knows an answer?
I am also having the problem. My serial shows week 12 of 06.
Mine is 06 42nd Week and I don't seem to have a problem.
Anyone come up with anything on this issue. I'd hate to see this thread die.
No nothing. Faria mentined that there would be a soulution but we would loose bluetooht support. Don´t know what that means but he never answerd again.
Sorry.
Hmmm...
Loosing bluetooth for voip wouldnt be a huge issue since most of us will be connected via WiFi, and wifi is a rare thing when you are driving (main reason for headset).

But when you are loosing complete support for bluetooth?
Don´t know how it would be working. Will ask Faria again.
That would kind of suck to loose Bluetooth all together. Not only do I use a headset from time to time, but I also use a bluetooth gps receiver so then I would be out 2 devices.
Hi, i also have a wizard model and the sound keeps going through the stereospeaker... I would apreciate some help...
Wizard Model
WM6 Faria Kitchen
IPL/SPL 3.08
Radio 02.40.11
OS 5.2.318
There is still no solution?
This, to me, is a major show stopper for using voip on my phone
No one can help us? I got the problem, too...
Arrrrhhh
I posted on the VOIP forum when it started. Seems an age back now - and yes I have the same problem. Seems absurd that the s/w cant control where the sound goes.... but there you go.
I have tried some of these registration hacks, but no success Maybe you have more luck? http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa921918.aspx

GPRS dies until radio restart (v1240 - ericjm WM6 ROM - Vodafone UK)

Hi all,
I've got a Vodafone (UK) v1240 (HTC Tornado Noble variant) running ericjm WM6 For Tornado - HTC Edition ROM and GSM.02.61.01 / SPL.2.00.0014.
Every day or two, the 'G' symbol disappears from the bar at the top of the Home screen and doesn't return. GPRS is unavailable until I use the connection manager to turn the radio off and back on again.
This is *really* annoying as I use push email on a daily basis and often find ActiveSync in 'waiting for network' mode, even though I'm in an area with a good signal.
I've tried the registry hack of setting GRPS to 'Always on' and renaming the 'SuspendResume' registry value - but that doesn't seem to help this issue.
I've seen a few other grumbles on this forum and around the www about this issue - but no firm solutions. Can anyone shed any light on this - or suggest a fix?
the GPRS issue is fixed with the latest radio ROM update, did you run phil's WM6GSMUpdate? If not, get it from my tutorial in my signature
Thanks for the response karhoe.
I did apply WM6GSMUpdate while following an install guide similar to yours for ericjm's WM6 For Tornado - HTC Edition ROM.
I'll try re-applying it, but I believe it is already in effect as my radio version states: 4.1.13.28_02.61.01
Any other ideas?
Try this
I have the same problem when i use andot's ROM. I have also upgraded the radio to 4.1.13.28_02.61.01, but still not solved.
Finally, after i change my ROM to NiTroGenious' WM6 English 5.2.1616.18120 ROM, and upgraded my SPL to 2.00.0014, the problem has been solved. I am not sure whether is the ROM or SPL solve the problem.
If you want to upgrade your SPL, please find the link under NiTroGenious's signatures.
One thing I have seen even in my own phone (running VJs ROM v3.2) that depending on what's being refreshed on my home screen, the "E" symbol will disappear. In that case, it's not that my GPRS connection has dropped, it's just that the top bar isn't refreshing to display the symbol. If I force a home screen refresh, lo and behold it's back again. Could that be what's happening with you?
