Phone number changed? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hi folks,
Thought I'd give WM6 a try, which seemed to go OK. Strangely enough though my phone number is now different! What's going on there? I've been upgrading phones on and off since Smartphone 2002, but never had this before.
Rich

different in what way ?

Well it's just the wrong number - it's not my phone number anymore! I thought that was just locked into the SIM - didn't think the phone had anything to do with that?

yup its in the sim card itself .. the phone just reads the info in there..
well thats pretty weird
did it change imei as well ?

Hmm - just realised I'm still using IPL/SPL 2.24. Maybe that's related. I'll try updating that first.

that got nothing to do with it..

Well I guess not - but what else can I try? Perhaps something went wrong with the install somehow.

hardreset it.. this might help

Your phone number cannot really be different.
However your new ROM may not report it correctly in SIM Manager.
Call a phone that has caller id, but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I think you're right - although the number displayed is wrong when I phone myself it rings. Weird.

yu this seems to be a cache error or something related hence the hardreset
but u might better do this romupdate again to make sure its oke

[Q] What Have I Done?!!?

Hi. This is my first time posting. I apologize in advance, im going to come across as a noob.
I got tired of waiting for google to get 2.3 to the N1 users. I decided it was time to unlock and root my phone, after all thats what it was designed for. Up until this point the phone was stock with all updates. I thought one touch root no longer worked. I dont know why i thought this. I used a guide to work through it. I cannot post links otherwise i would. ilikemygooglephone . com is where it came from
Everything worked according to this guide until I completed it and powered my phone on for the first time. I thought I was going to see a stock wiped nexus one...Instead I got shafted.
The phone reboots randomly. It happens quickly and unpredictably.
Notification bar will never slide down. If i try to the phone lags but never shows notifications.
No 3g
No wifi
The phone says I have no service (selected network tmobile unavailable) although I can still make and receive calls.
The sd card will not mount. I cannot access it on the phone. When pluggen into my laptop the phone will charge but wont give me the option to access the sd card.
At times the graphics are buggy and dont operate properly
There are probably other problems that i am forgetting but I think this says enough. Since i cannot access the SDcard I really dont know what to do.
Im sorry if this thread is in the wrong place or happens to be a previously answered question. I just really like my phone and I hope its not wasted. Can someone tell me what I did wrong or how i can get this right.
YEAH i noobed it.
I freaked out on the above issue for about 5 hours. Now I believe i have everything back to normal. My problem was i didnt load the proper superboot. Once i found the FRG83 one and redid the process using that instead it worked fine. Either i was using the wrong superboot or i had a corrupted download somehow.
Feels good to figure it out on my own though....i feel...less noob.....NAH

Stolen GSM Phone

Well long story short my X10mini was stolen. Now i need to know if i can find out the phone number of the new SIM. I don't know the imei(lost box) and the thief must have changed rom cuz lookout isn't working.... (stupid cwm recovery ).
Sent from my good old Galaxy S II. Hit thx if u think i helped and may the force be with u.
Lol i higly dought that a theif knows how to flash and change a rom, let alone even open cwm, he will probaly will just sell it to a pawn shop or on ebay
HTC Wildfire S (VM) "s-off" "rooted" Stock Rom
Not sure if this feature has been supported by some ROM. But it seems pretty easy, just asking the phone to send mail/SMS (including phone #) to a pre-defined address every time when the SIM card is changed.
well it might not help now but on your next phone use avast antitheft its written into the system and cant be uninstalled unless they know your 6 digit pin they cant even accsess the program and you can command wipe locate your device via text track with gps and works real well
Hmm if i knew the imei? I will go to my operator's store and ask them to tell me the imei.

You're not going to get the number. Even with the IMEI number (which is pretty useless to you), you can't get any information.
The best thing you can do is report the phone stolen so the IMEI gets blocked and the phone becomes useless.
stolen phone
Yeah your not going to be able to track that phone with out some serious hardware which costs thousands and a telco would not do that ,not economic sense.
Have the phone blacklisted so no one else can use it.
K guys was hoping to learn the number since i can prove the phone is mine(or was lol). Thx for replies.

Gerenal flashing question

Hey all, I'm in the process of flashing a custom rom to my phone for the first time but always get apprehensive about such things and have a question about the process that may seem pretty elementary but has always made me wonder.
Since the process generally requires the phone's owner to wipe the system clean before flashing to avoid complications, I'm wondering how the data stored on the phone that lets it communicate with the providers cell towers and ultimately tells the phone what phone number is assigned to it doesn't get wiped away as well. Is such data at a much lower level then what is formatted and stays with the phone no matter how many times it's wiped, factory reset, etc? Is it something server-side that uses the IMEI number on the phone to keep track of such things? Just want to make sure I dont somehow someway lose the same number I've had for 10 years now just because I flashed to a custom rom. Can someone elaborate/put my mind at ease? Thanks.
Don't worry about your number - that's on your sim-card. I rooted and flashed around a couple of devices - and IMEI is still the same ! Check out the tutorials for your device, read everything related and then you are ready to flash. Spent this time !!! It's really important to know wkat you are doing - the best guarantee for success !

Thanks man, I probably should have mentioned though that my phone is CDMA and has no sim card, but I guess there's something else internal like a sim where the number is stored for cdma phones too?
Bump?

[Need Suggesstions]IMEI fix issue

hello fellas,
okay let me first explain you the issue. There is guy who I met yesterday and he have a I9003 but he is facing IMEI problem, i.e, he dont have a IMEI on his phone and also the baseband is missing.. Well luckily I know how to fix IMEI so he contacted me.
Here comes the situation now,This sort of IMEI break happens if some one tries to delete the .efs folder and wants to add a custom IMEI(which may even not exist) so that he can enjoy the services till the device breaks without getting traced.I think that this phone might be a stolen one. There is strong possibility that I said "STOLEN" because he said he have the box(factory box) of the phone and even on the box there is no IMEI number printed.I even looked at the backside(below battery) and it seems as if the IMEI number has been physically made erased by means of a sharp tool like razor blade I guess.
I am really confused and I said I will think about this matter.. so what you guys say that is this phone might be of gray market(stolen one)?? or am I just over reacting?
PS:IMEI number is missing and also Baseband version is missing.

I am doubtful about that device. Because if someone has purposefully earased printed IMEI on device it means surely someone dont want to know original IMEI which is wiered. So I will suggest not to play with that device.
@OP And considering what has happened in hyderabad recently, I'll advise you to return the box and not think about it again.
yeah I have not touched the device after that and I am not gonna fix anything in it. Thanks Vishal and Hetalk for your advice

Galaxy S6,need urgent help! where to find or how to restore the IMEI?

Hi guys, so i 2 days ago i woke up and realized my S6 (i have it for one year) suddently couldnt connect to the mobile network, so i check what can go wrong and people say to check my IMEI, and then i see 350000000000006 which of course isnt the correct one, so i go to a guy who could fix it, but he says he needs the original IMEI, problem is i cant find it anywhere! i am pretty sure i dont have anymore the box with it. Someone said to me you can check it with the windows register and searching for Kies/Smart_switch info if you used it with your phone but i cant find anything even tho i used Smart Switch some times. Is it all over for my S6? Is there anything i can do to save it? Or should i start searching for something else? Please help
The IMEI it's on the original back cover.
as punktnet said, just look on the backside in the bottom part. But be warned, it's hard to read.
