Cingular 8125 / MDA ? Thinking about buying it but have ?'s

I have been a Treo 650 user with cingular for 18 months now and have been happy with it. I have experimented with lots of the software available for download and enjoyed that a lot to. I have been looking for another phone and I just found a post by treonaut on the treo web site all about the MDA. The post was very good and has my attention but still I am very new to this MDA phone and am looking for some info. On the Cingular web site i found the model 8125 and am very interested in that cell. I think the 8125 is an MDA type cell, not sure if the MDA is a particular model or a catagory type cell. Next, as with the Treo 650 there is tons of software downloads to play with and experiment. Is there any software out to do the same with for these MDA cells? In particular the 8125? If so, ware do I find it all? I have been useing the xWeather program for my Treo and would hate to have to give it up along with many other programs that I use on my Treo. Next, are the sim cards the same? Can i use one from my 650 in the 8125 type MDA cell? OK, no more questions for now, I will stop here. I would really like to buy the 8125 after reading what treonaut had to say but will not jump. Thanks for any help offered ...
To answer your questions:
1. Cingular 8125=Tmobile MDA=HTC Wizard with each having very minor modifications.
2. Tons of software are also available for download for the 8125. All that stuff you saw in my review I did with built-in software or with freebies. I also have a program that puts the weather data on my Today page. To date, I have not bought a single WM5 program. Search xda-developers in the Wizard section. Also read the very good MDA and 8125 faqs over at howardforums.com. In general any program designed for Windows Mobile 5 (WM5) and the ARM processor should work with this series of devices. So do a google search for goodies.
3. Sims remain the same. I sometimes swap sims between the MDA and the 650 without a problem.
4. Check out Amazon.com for better pricing on the 8125/MDA.
Thanks very much for the info. I will check it out and most likely get the 8125 soon.. I want to make sure I know ware to get all the extra programs and understand how to install them. I have no clue about what cables i will need to hook it to my notebook and what software i will need to use to install things. The Treo is easy to install things with the Palm one quick install program so I need to find out what to use to do these things yet. Thanks again.
Wait and buy the 8525. It is coming in few weeks
400MHz processor
HSDPA
Etc..
Just made a deal with Cingular for a new 8125 with my corporate discount for 200 bucks. I will have same number and my 450 roll over plan with the unlimited data package for the same 53 bucks a month. It was a good deal so I took it. Now to find all the tricks and goodies

T-Mobile's MDA Compact IV

Does anybody know which device this phone is?
http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/04/eyes-on-with-t-mobiles-mda-compact-iv/
Most likely its an HTC, but it looks like the polaris but its even better.
Why would they release two similar phones so soon after each other?
T-Mobile Shadow. Cheers!
It could be HTC Pharos I think....
but 4 GB storage? Hm....
actually it is the htc touch diamond but it's the germany tmobile version known as the MDA compact 4. T-mobile and HTC are now working together to make great mda's. And if you don't know htc was making the diamond but with a full qwerty keyboard and they were going to call it the raphael but t-mobile is going to call it the Vario 4. The Compact 4 is coming out in "Germany" Next month(July) for a not yet determined price and the vario 4 will be released in autumn for Germany. Well i hope this helps and i hope Europe releases those phones to US soon or i'll be very upset. lol

That's a "Victor" rather than a "Diamond". Same device, just different casing design!
I checked T-Mobile UK customer services and they say that T-Mobile UK is expecting MDA compact 4 in July 2008! So we may get this device in UK soon!

I went into a T-Mobile shop to ask about any release date and the sales staff just looked at me blankly and shrugged their shoulders!!

I hope they sort out the aledged 'laggy' response on the screen graphics of the HTC Diamond I have read about in some reviews...my advice is a 'hands on' test of a real retail version of the device in the store before handing over your cash
the compact 4 is being relesed in uk sometime before september (my tmob contracts due for upgrade then so i got the details of new phones outta their upgrades team earlier this week. - and it IS a diamond with tmob badges

Diamonds (HTC Touch Diamond that is... not the compact 4) are available in the UK as of now, i dont get why it takes tmobile so long to simply rebadge the diamond (its quite minimal from what ive seen).
I am on a tmobile contract with my HTC TyTN, but i plan on using the upgrade for a handset for the Mrs, i like the look of the Raphael anyway (HTC Touch Pro..........Vario IV).

I think the Compact IV is a Victor (no Diamond effect stuff) rather than a Diamond (P3702 rather than P3700).
I guess operators want to try and get the most money from the current devices before making money from the new ones...
The T-Mo phones do have a redecorated TF3D though...
This is MDA compact 4

HTC sells Camera-less model?

I'm wondering if anyone here knows whether HTC offers non-camera variants of its [newer] cellphones. As usual, not much turns up on google as companies don't usually advertise (or even list!) such variants. Currently I own an Elfin running Onyx 2.2 firmware obtained from this forum, but soon I'll be starting work in an organization which prohibits all forms of cameras. It's a shame to have to ditch the HTC in favor of those cheap $60 trash-phones which do nothing save transceive calls and SMSes. (...and not to mention a significant inconvenience as I'll have to buy a separate pda/laptop etc.)
take it out yourself?
i saw someone asking the same thing in the raphael forums, because he has the same dilemma. said he took the camera out of his tytn ii
Cingular 3100 WM5(6.1) smartphone doesn't have a camera, instead of Cingular 3125 (the same but with camera)

HTC TyTN II (Kaiser) 3g on Tmobile US network

Hi all,
Can anyone confirm that the Kaiser can fully utilize 3g data on the TMobile US 3g network? I have seen several (old) articles that pre-date the release of the Kaiser saying it may be the 'first 3g windows mobile phone available'. I have the opportunity to get an AT&T tilt from someone I know, but before I go through the process of unlocking the sim and flashing the ROM I'd like to know if it is worth my while. I've been waiting for the pharos traveler 137 to be released for a few months now but I know that Tmobile has no interest in carrying it ( I talked to a few service reps, and they just play dumb and say they've never heard of pharos or a 3g capable WM phone). So without the plan upgrade discount the phone is going to be $600, all for the luxury of using the 3g network on a phone that actually supports msexchange email.
between aardvark ( company developing ms direct push app for android), the pharos smartphone, and getting info on this TyTn II i feel like I've been doing a whole lot of waiting for a phone that has what I feel are two very basic features nowadays on other networks
Comments appreciated,

Works Good Dude!! i'm in CT, in USA and have used a kaiser with my tmobile sim, works faster
unfortunately, you get Edge only. Few PPC's have tmob 3G off the wall 1700/2100 mhz radio combo. The G1 has it, and maybe a few other New PPC's.

Replacement Device X7510

Has anyone heard any rumours/updates on the next device that would replace the HTC Advantage X7510?
I had a 7501, which I replaced with HTC Shift.
I am looking for a real good messaging device and the keyboard on the advantage was awesome.
The HSPDA speeds seems dated since a number of carriers are going to be offering HSDPA+ this year.
Do you see this as co-existing with netbook or replacing a netbook?
I am in Canada, ideally device with UTMS 850/1900 would work, 2100 band does do work in Canada.
Dave
Search in google for Htc Thoth , it's a x7510 replacement , supposed to be out in September 2009 , but may delay due to Wm 6.5 / 7 os . Looks pretty superior Snapdragon processor , keyboard may be slightly improved from x7510 , hopefully it's a 32gb flash drive or similar , let's wait and see . For Shift replacement , it depends Htc Taiwan got the balls to fight it out with the rest of the world leading netbook manufacturers ! Thanks for reading and best regards - jimmunsw
a link for you

Yes good Info guys also multitouch screen, upgreadable to WM 7.0,more skinny less weight,4.8 MT 800X480 sceen, smaller size, micro sd up to 64GB instead of mini sd.
There's still a lot of confusion regarding the upcoming HTC high end devices. Some commentors are saying the HTC Leo is the successor to the Athena, though it doesn't have a hardware keyboard.
It is possible the Thoth may also appear later, like a Leo with an external keyboard but details are sketchy
