Video encoder that works with Vista?

I tried Pocket Divx Encoder but it blew up with the error
"mencodersh.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Seems other have been having problems also.
Is there an app, freeware or otherwise, that works under Vista and can easily encode AVI, Divx, etc for viewing on a WM6 device?
Thanks,
-Brett.

Recording video on my PPC: How to make it work on the PC?

So I recorded some video on my Sprint Mogul and it plays back just fine on Windows Media Player on my Mogul. Thing is, when I try to play the same files on my PC, it gives me an error message. It has the videos saved as .MP4 files and they won't playback on Windows Media Player on the PC or on Quicktime on the PC.
Anyone care to let me know how to make it so my video will playback on the PC?

That's very strange, when I record mp4s on my mogul it works fine. Try using Motion JPEG that also works well for me for vids.

Playing (mpeg-4) files on PC

Sorry if this is not strictly on topic, but I am having problems playing video files on my PC which were recorded on my TC. Has the format been changed/tweaked since the Trinity (my last device)? I can't get the files to play using latest versions of WMP, RealPalyer, Quicktime or DivX player (all with -I think- appropriate Codecs; Sherlock utility lists bucket loads of Codecs residing on my PC).
The videos play OK on WMP mobile on the TC and the files were copied direct to the PC using a card reader in order to keep ActiveSync out of the equation.
Thanks
For me, the only way too see videos on my PC is to use Media Player Classic.
I've tried with VLC: video plays but...without sound.

MP4 is now a fairly common video format on the net, and is now becomming a standard format for mobile video recording, takeing over the place of 3gp. If you have troubles whith it, you have several options.
1. You can download the VLC Player, a free, open-source player that plays all videofiles whithout the usage of installed codecs (plays *.flv files as well).
2. If you do some video coding too, then you can install a Codec pack... I recommend K-Lite for that, but ofcourse there are several choices.
3. WMP11 supports it...
All solutions are free... but next time try this:
1. Google
2. In the search field: "How to play MP4 files"

I recomend checking your settings, because VLC works for me. Did you try the latest version? Does this no sound occur whith other file types aswell?
Installed VLC, but like Jules got no sound?
I do however get sound from MP4 files (and other video formats) from sources other than the TC.
So what comes out of the TC does not seem to be normal? (Hence me posting here.... yes I googled (lots) before)
The source of the problem is, that VLC does not recognize the audio stream of the mp4 files created by the TC. The coding of the Audio stream is GSM AMR-NB... so the only option is to get the AMR codec.
The reason VLC plays it for me is because K-Lite is installed (and it contains the audio codec for that).
@gnick666
I use the last Vlc version and KLite Standard version.
And no sound, just with Cruise's MP4. No problem with others MP4.
But Media Player Classic plays these videos with sound.

Klite Mega Codec Pack is the magic solution. Playing TC recorded video fine in WMP11 and BSPlayer Pro

TCPMP, CorePlayer, YouTube and RTSP

Hi everyone,
I know there are a hundred posts about Youtube and players and stuff, but none of these seem to work for me. One reason perhaps is most solutions date back to 2007, and things (may) have changed since.
Here is my situation: I have TCPMP 0.72RC1, GF5500 edition (by eoc and elviesss) because this version is the only one I know of that supports my GoForce and actually plays HQ/HD videos. However, when I try to watch a YouTube video, I get the "RTSP protocol not supported" error. I have installed the "mobytube.net - t2k269 TCPMPflvplugin0.4.4" and the "Skunkworks FlashVideoBundle"... doesn't help.
I also have CorePlayer 1.3.2, which (before installing TCPMP) worked fine with YouTube videos although poor quality but did not play the MP4 HQ/HD videos and has no support for the GoForce 5500.
I am fine with having both, as long as file associations worked properly. Every time I press "Watch Video" TCPMP opens and gives me the RTSP error. How do I associate this action with CorePlayer?
I have unticked Flash Video and MMS protocol file associations from TCPMP, and ticked the same in CorePlayer, particularly RTSP protocol, MMS and FLV.
After selecting all files in CorePlayer's File Associations, tapping the "watch video" link finally started opening CorePlayer instead of TCPMP but the only thing that happens is "network address not found".
Some help please!?

I did look at those articles/threads again (in fact I read everything there, although I had already read some of these), but can't find a solution.
1. I can't use IE: m.youtube.com loads but when I click a video link to check out details, IE crashes - I never use it anyway.
2. I prefer Opera (8.65 for Em One, built in), I also have 9.7. The browsing part is naturally no problem. But whatever the settings of CorePlayer (FLV - high bandwidth, H264 - normal or high (720p) quality), the quality is horrendous on my WVGA screen. Media properties always has "Format:RTP/RTSP streaming; video/codec: H.263; Video size: 176 x 144.
So, I am still where I left off - TCPMP for GoForce 5500 does play high quality videos but won't work with YouTube, while CorePlayer won't work with HQ video and delivers awful quality YouTube.
PS. I do have the YouTubePlay app by Nick Miles, v. 1.0.0.11 (latest?), and, when video output is switched to RawFramebuffer I seem to get the most out of youtube videos labeled HD - I don't know what actual resolution they are played at, but look quite decent on the WVGA screen (probably 320x240).

Playing Movies on x7510

Has anyone been able to play movies on their x7510? I'm having problems finding the best Audio and Video parameters that run smoothly on my x7510. The media converters that I've used haven't been able to convert a dvd movie to a useable format. The video is always too choppy and out of synce with the audio. Can anyone help?
Use Coreplayer for your 7510.
It's a really good program for playing video on Handheld Devices
Thanks for your respones. I have coreplayer v 1.3.6 build 7427 but this too performs poorly. I'm not sure what Audio and Video parameters the movie file has to be in to play smoothly. Do you known what your movie file parameters are set?
The best way to have a great quilty and also smooth playing is converting your video with "Xilisoft Video Converter".
It has a lot of good default option for converting your video for your PPC.
If you play the sound through bluetooth, it doesn't get out of sync. Also try 300ms Thats the best setting i think.
Ok, I give these two options a try. I'm downloading Xilisoft Video Converter now. I'll let you know how it works.
Thanks both of you.
I tried Xilisoft, but am not sure which setting to choose. I think Sompy Media Encoder is also pretty good, it has a setting specifically for WM PPC's
