Recording video on my PPC: How to make it work on the PC? - General Topics

So I recorded some video on my Sprint Mogul and it plays back just fine on Windows Media Player on my Mogul. Thing is, when I try to play the same files on my PC, it gives me an error message. It has the videos saved as .MP4 files and they won't playback on Windows Media Player on the PC or on Quicktime on the PC.
Anyone care to let me know how to make it so my video will playback on the PC?

That's very strange, when I record mp4s on my mogul it works fine. Try using Motion JPEG that also works well for me for vids.

Blank screen when using Windows Media Player

Hi there --
I'm trying to help my wife with a really strange Windows Media Player problem.
She has four videos on her phone (T-Mobile MDA). One video is a WMV recorded using the camera, in mp4 format. The other three are MPEGs converted to WMVs using Windows Movie Maker in WinXP.
To a first order, all the videos play fine. However, if she plays the captured video, THEN tries to play one of the converted videos, she will get a blank screen. If you go to the "task manager", and kill WMP, you can play the converted videos again, until the next time you play the captured video.
The symptom is a completely blank screen. Sound plays fine, and the cursor moves across like the video is playing, but no video.
Has anyone else seen this symptom?
Thankx!
imho them wmp is not a really good player
i would try winamp if that also do it
you can narrow it down to
a codec issue
or a video card driver issue
This does sound like a codec issue. Personally I don't recommend using WMP on your phone or on your desktop.
Instead download the free TCPMP. It supports many formats and has a wide verity of options to control playback, performance and memory usage.

codec?
I'm definitely going to have my wife try the other media player, thanks.
A codec may be involved, but there clearly has to be something else at foot: the problem arises across individual playing sessions. All the videos play, if you start from a fresh WMP. The faulty interaction only comes up if you play a video *from the phone* first. Totally weird.
So it sounds like no one else has seen this...

Playing (mpeg-4) files on PC

Sorry if this is not strictly on topic, but I am having problems playing video files on my PC which were recorded on my TC. Has the format been changed/tweaked since the Trinity (my last device)? I can't get the files to play using latest versions of WMP, RealPalyer, Quicktime or DivX player (all with -I think- appropriate Codecs; Sherlock utility lists bucket loads of Codecs residing on my PC).
The videos play OK on WMP mobile on the TC and the files were copied direct to the PC using a card reader in order to keep ActiveSync out of the equation.
Thanks
For me, the only way too see videos on my PC is to use Media Player Classic.
I've tried with VLC: video plays but...without sound.

MP4 is now a fairly common video format on the net, and is now becomming a standard format for mobile video recording, takeing over the place of 3gp. If you have troubles whith it, you have several options.
1. You can download the VLC Player, a free, open-source player that plays all videofiles whithout the usage of installed codecs (plays *.flv files as well).
2. If you do some video coding too, then you can install a Codec pack... I recommend K-Lite for that, but ofcourse there are several choices.
3. WMP11 supports it...
All solutions are free... but next time try this:
1. Google
2. In the search field: "How to play MP4 files"

Click to collapse
I recomend checking your settings, because VLC works for me. Did you try the latest version? Does this no sound occur whith other file types aswell?
Installed VLC, but like Jules got no sound?
I do however get sound from MP4 files (and other video formats) from sources other than the TC.
So what comes out of the TC does not seem to be normal? (Hence me posting here.... yes I googled (lots) before)
The source of the problem is, that VLC does not recognize the audio stream of the mp4 files created by the TC. The coding of the Audio stream is GSM AMR-NB... so the only option is to get the AMR codec.
The reason VLC plays it for me is because K-Lite is installed (and it contains the audio codec for that).
@gnick666
I use the last Vlc version and KLite Standard version.
And no sound, just with Cruise's MP4. No problem with others MP4.
But Media Player Classic plays these videos with sound.

Klite Mega Codec Pack is the magic solution. Playing TC recorded video fine in WMP11 and BSPlayer Pro

It will show you how to watch it on your comp and how to convert it so other people can watch it

Desktop Video Player

I have posted this in general as I suspect it applies to other phones as well.
My HTC Rose can record videos in wither MP4 or H.263 format and for this, it works.
But when I download these files onto my desktop PC, I am having trouble finding a video player that will play back video AND SOUND.
VLC (which normally supports anything) does not support the samr codec. Windows Media player can't even play Video.
Now to date the only thing I can find that plays these things is Quicktime player from Apple but this is one piece of software I really don't want on my PC so what is everybody else using out there to play the video files they take on their phones?
Thanks
Hy,
do you have testet ffplay or mplayer on your desktop pc?
Greatz

Zune won't sync videos from my old phone?!

I have a bunch of videos taken using my Touch Pro 2 Windows Mobile phone that I can't get Zune to even recognize let alone add to my new HTC Arrive.
.3gp
.mpeg
.mpg
.avi
Only the .wmv and some .mp4 videos seem to be recognized. Windows Media will play all of them though, it's just that Zune won't see them.
What's up?
EDIT: I found a free 3gp to mp4 converter and used it for all of the videos taken with my TP2. I guess I'll have to covnert all my mpg and mpeg video to wmv now too
I also had to convert all my movies over from .avi to mp4 for Zune to find them. I got a free converter from the web and it was easy.
