problems with MSN messenger and contact list - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

hope someone can help me with this.
I have a I-mate K-jam
installed CB-AIRAF (wmobile 6)
the problem is that I cannot connect to msn
because when i tap the todayscreen button it starts and
immediately dissapears the messenger program.
I`ve got the same problem when i want to open my contact list
hope someone can help me out

hope this helps
Mine did that at first...but after going to Start->Programs->Windows Live...then configure the settings there and do a power rest.
I suggest overclocking because even at 273mHz messenger ran very slow and I had to "End Task" several time on it before I could ever get it to log on. I also had to do a power reset after I changed all the settings the way I liked before they would 'stick'...(holding the power button down for 3 sec and then chose 'Yes')
hope this helps...sorry it wasn't more technical

Hi there. I happend to me when i first using MB ROM. However i reflashed my device and it was just fine. Do the previous suggestion and if the problem persists try reflashing your ROM.
It should work great then.
Best regards

Ha - I had to reflash too because of Windows Live but it was the email applet not the messenger...i guess windows live mobile still has a few bugs

i have the same prob, either try clear device memory,or go reflash again, best luck!

Skype uninstal prob - pls help

Guys,
I have installed and uninstalled Skype and now get the following error everytime I switch the device on:
"Cannot execute \Prgogram Files\Skype for PocketPC\skype.exe"
have queried the registry, have again installed and uninstalled skype but still, the error is there ...
so any other idea, before I have to perform a hard reset?
I have the same problem. I've submitted a support request to Skype today. If I get any useful response, I'll post it here.

and you are sure that there are not shortcut in windows\startup ?
to it
yeah - no shortcuts - I tried everything....
installed skype today again (for the 10th time) and uninstalled...
didn't get the errors a couple of times - but after the first soft reset: there it is again..
I don't have a clue....
I had some startup shortcuts wich I wans't sure what they did. As a test, I moved all these shortcuts to another folder, leaving startup empty. After soft reset, the Skype problem persists, so it's not a startup issue unfortunately.

Solved
No response from Skype, but from their own forum it appears they've been aware of this at least since last October, but haven't fixed the software release. Skype's great, but I suppose uninstall problems are to be expected from the same people who brought you Kazaa....
Anyway, I solved the problem using this free utility:-
http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html
Download CheckNotifications, run it and delete any entry for Skype.exe.
Looks like this app can also speed up machines which may have slowed due to accumulating Notification logs when soft resetting.
I don't get the ntification anymore. I'm relieved as I was on the point of hard-resetting.
Hope it works for you too.

Sent emails

Hi everyone,
Sorry for my ignorance but iam a long time Nokia user who just switched to WM. I have an o2 orbit 2 and have my yahoo email acocunt on it. This worked fine but it wont save outgoing emails even when i check the box on the options screen. Anyone know anything about this?
works fine with gmail. i know this might sound stupid but once you check the relevant box in message settings do you press ok to save the settings? also might want to try changing from ppc to mcard memory or vice versa to see if it makes a difference.
if the problem persists you might wish to back up your data and do a hard reset.
hope this is helpful.
Thank you!

Hardware Failure? Tried re-flashing and still no good

Guys,
I sincerely don't know what happened. I have a Dopod C500, which I had perfectly flashed to HTC's latest ROM. Everything was running smoothly, until a few days ago, after I ran out of battery.
Following a recharge, the phone was never the same. First, problems with connecting to my email account. Web-surfing was fine, but somehow the problem affected just email checking. It tried connecting and nothing. And if I tried to stop, it stayed on "disconnecting" forever.
Well, I performed a Clear Storage, but it didn't help. So I reflashed the phone. Twice. And the email problem was temporarily solved, but it reappeared later on.
Text messaging was also a problem. I wasn't receiving them.
And now, there's a problem with my Contacts. They sync alright, but when I click Contacts on the phone, I can't see them. Only if I press the call button. And the phone is extremely slow...
Any suggestions? No jokes please. Is there a ROM any of you would recommend?
Thanks guys!

That sounds like what happend to me and I solved the problem by changing the battery for a spare that I had bought, and now I have got a fully functioning phone. So try etting a replacement battery.
Roland
Thanks a lot for the quick response Roland! I'll try that!
But should I re-flash when I get a new battery?
Also, as of next Tuesday, I'll also own a TyTN II!
But isn't Tuesday do far away from now?
Thanks again, and I'll let you know if it worked.
One more thing: do you choose to charge the phone when connecting to Activesync? Do you feel that it shortens the battery life?
If the ROM you are using now is ok and you are happy with it then you don't need to reflash. If you want to change your ROM then I rcomend DR. Martin Gonzo's WM6.1 v1.0b ROM.
Roland
I do charge the phone when connected to WMDC6.1 and don't find that it has an effect on the battery life.

Hi Rob,
I am having this problem lately. It affects all messaging incuding my push mail application as well. Could not open any of the applications in the messaging menu (SPB panel). Changing panel does not help. the only way around is doing a soft reset. then everything works fine for a few minutes before it stoppped working again.
Looks like I will need to do a Clear Storage to start from scratch again! This is the 3rd times I am doing this after installing some of the free apps downloaded from internet.
Never had this kind of problem with symbian based phone until Windows.

Try hard reset
I have this problem too, and i am not in situation to do hard reset. Is there anyone who resolved this problem in another way than hard reset?
Got exactly the same problem. Just updated today to ICS by OTA(Sensation XE) and now i can't open the conversations anymore. It just showing "Loading" the whole time.
Someone meanwhile with an idea how to solve this problem?
Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app. Idk if it'll fix it but it's worth a shot
+1 on all the suggestions. It was a major update, so a hard reset could solve it.
Nothing worked and hard reset was no option for me. So i installed Go SMS Plus now and everything works fine. All SMS are there, nothing lost. I got the feeling that with to many SMS (got around 9000) the Application becomes overstrained. While i tried to delete all messages for reimporting them it stocked at around 4000 and at this point the messaging App was working fine.
