Hardware Failure? Tried re-flashing and still no good - HTC Vox

Guys,
I sincerely don't know what happened. I have a Dopod C500, which I had perfectly flashed to HTC's latest ROM. Everything was running smoothly, until a few days ago, after I ran out of battery.
Following a recharge, the phone was never the same. First, problems with connecting to my email account. Web-surfing was fine, but somehow the problem affected just email checking. It tried connecting and nothing. And if I tried to stop, it stayed on "disconnecting" forever.
Well, I performed a Clear Storage, but it didn't help. So I reflashed the phone. Twice. And the email problem was temporarily solved, but it reappeared later on.
Text messaging was also a problem. I wasn't receiving them.
And now, there's a problem with my Contacts. They sync alright, but when I click Contacts on the phone, I can't see them. Only if I press the call button. And the phone is extremely slow...
Any suggestions? No jokes please. Is there a ROM any of you would recommend?
Thanks guys!

That sounds like what happend to me and I solved the problem by changing the battery for a spare that I had bought, and now I have got a fully functioning phone. So try etting a replacement battery.

Thanks a lot for the quick response Roland! I'll try that!
But should I re-flash when I get a new battery?
Also, as of next Tuesday, I'll also own a TyTN II!
But isn't Tuesday do far away from now?
Thanks again, and I'll let you know if it worked.

One more thing: do you choose to charge the phone when connecting to Activesync? Do you feel that it shortens the battery life?

If the ROM you are using now is ok and you are happy with it then you don't need to reflash. If you want to change your ROM then I rcomend DR. Martin Gonzo's WM6.1 v1.0b ROM.
Roland

I do charge the phone when connected to WMDC6.1 and don't find that it has an effect on the battery life.

Major problem with Messaging (Email)

Guys, I don't what else to do! Is there a hardware linked to the Messaging application? This is what happened:
A few days ago, my phone's battery ran out completely (with that annoying message - "warning, etc").
Well, I charged the phone again, and everything was fine with exception of the Messaging application. Whenever I clicked send/receive, it just stayed there. Nothing happened. When I pressed "stop send/receive", the "disconnecting..." message stayed on FOREVER, always having to reboot.
I thought it had something to do with the GPRS setup. But web surfing was no problem at all. So it couldn't be the connection. Right? Anyways, I not only redid the connections as I tried with the wi-fi connection too. NOTHING!
Last night I decided to Clear Storage the phone (I had flashed it HTC's latest official ROM). Still no good! Then I flashed Gonzo's ROM yesterday. NOTHING! The exact same problem!
I tried setting up other e-mail accounts, WITH THE SAME PROBLEM! Damn!
Anyone?
Also, is there a Java Mail application I could use?
I flashed back HTC's latest official ROM.
I never quit! But I think that my phone
does.
We'll see...
Well... PROBLEM SOLVED!
Clear Storage the official ROM hadn't worked, and neither flashing Gonzo's.
However, after re-flashing the official ROM, it works perfectly.
Go figure.
Thanks everyone (I know all posts are mine, but you all gave me the necessary insipiration).
Anyways, next week I'm getting a TyTN II. I'm sure I'll be here again. LOL
Properly the radio or something like that that had to be reflashed.
Im happy to hear that your phone works now.

Well... guess what? Now I can't receive any SMS! Geez...
I send them alright. But when I send one to myself or from another from, I do not receive them. Not even the confirmation request.
Can I flash only the radio? How to I do it? Which one do you recommend?
Thanks!
Same email problem you had
Hello, I figure your email problem (Disconecting...) was solved by reflashing the fone. But I am facing this same problem with different ROM versions since sometime ago. It looks like there is something else about it.
Do you have any clue on the origin of this problem, so I can solve it??

Weird unread mails issue after crash and restart

Hi all,
today my Vox locked up completely so I had even to remove the battery as I could not shut it down. After putting the battery back in I bootet the phone successfully again.
But now I have an issue with my mailbox:
There is definitely not one mail in my inbox, however the home screen (and outlook) both claim still there is one unread message in the inbox.
I have no chance to tell my phone my mailbox is empty and hence this counter should be on zero.
Did somebody else have this issue already before?
Any clue how to correct it?
Where does WM 6.0 (I use the original rom by HTC still) place the mails in the filesystem? Maybe I just have to delete some file there?
Thanks for you help.
This is not really a big problem but very annoying.

Resolved
Hi,
for all that have potentially the same issue, I downloaded the following tool and it fixed my problem.

cannot access poutlook mail

Hi everyone,
I've got a huge problem with my touch cruise:
A few weeks ago, something happened with my phone and I could no longer access any of the mail features of outlook. I performed a hard reset, switched to a new rom, and now the problem is back!
In M2D, the email accounts disappeared (says "no accounts"); and the text messaging says "no messages. If I clicked on messaging in the start menu, nothing happens.
I can still access all of the other features of outlook - contacts, calendar, and tasks work fine.
When this first happened, I searched around, tried a few things that might have helped, and nothing worked. I performed a hard reset, and installed a new ROM (originally was M-AMINE's final, now is c_shekhar's most recent with footprints included), and things seemed to work fine. Now, just last night, the exact same thing happened as before.
The first time I had installed imappusher a day or 2 before, so I thought that might be the culprit. This time, however, I did not install that software, and the error still happened.
Any thoughts? Potential culprits? Ways to fix it? Ways to prevent it in the future?
Thanks for reading,
-Talbot
weird timing, someone else posted a similar problem right before me, and there's a solution that seems to have worked in there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486297
Snapphane's fix worked for me, or at least it allows me to access the mail part of outlook so far (I have not re- set up the email accounts- it looks like all of my mail has still disappeared).
I went to the storage card with file explorer, and deleted a folder called something like "inbox.msi.233406...", and now all of a sudden I can get into the mail fine.
Thanks snapphane, and lets hope it keeps working!

Messages will not be erased after soft reset (WM 6.1)

Hello all. I have an HTC Touch Diamond on Bell. The issue I have is quite annoying. I want to avoid a hard reset as much as possible. Basically, the problem I have is that when I delete messages, they will always reappear after a soft reset. Any messages I received between the last reset message will be deleted once a soft reset is performed. For example, I received a message on May 23rd and messages received after that are not kept once I soft reset. I found users with a similar issue here: http://www.technologyquestions.com/...general/225754-text-messages-wont-delete.html
I have tried everything. Clearing ALL text messages doesn't even work. I clear my messages, wait overnight, then in the morning, soft reset, all the messages have returned. I would appreciate any help that you can give.
PS: It does the same thing with my email. I have 2 new emails in one of my three accounts, which I delete, and then sync again. After a soft reset, they have returned along with all the other text messages. It's very frustrating!
I should also say that I am not using a cooked ROM, I'm using the stock Bell ROM. Anyone have any ideas?
I've heard of this problem before.. and to be honest, i couldn't find a solution other than hard-reseting or replacing the ROM... i'm sorry..
wm reads your pim files everytime it loads.. and apparently you have a problem erasing data from within the file.. no idea why.
wait for a couple of days to see if someone managed to solve this.. if not, i'd hard-reset.
Thank you for your reply. I did a hard reset. I just hope this problem won't return. I really don't want to do a hard reset every 2-3 months!
flash new roms
you will be hard resetting every 2 weeks and finding out how much better your phone can be
try out the new microsoft my phone software you can sync over the network so you dont lose anything when you hard reset

I flashed a cooked ROM in the past and I didn't like it at all. The time stamps on messages were way off and even when changing the time manually it would switch back.
And thanks for the MyPhone suggestion. I've been using it since April and has worked pretty good so far. I also used Dashwire which worked nicely as well.
cooked ROMs in this forum are usually fantastic. you probably just stumbled upon a sucky one. I always suggest cooked ROMs as they are faster and more useful than the official ones (to be honest, i wouldn't be surprised if HTC actually assume their official ROMs will only be used for reference applications and system packages)...
also, ALWAYS backup your data. ALWAYS!
you can use PIMBackup2.8 to backup messages/recent calls/appointments/tasks.... and SPB Backup/Sprite Backup/Resco Backup...to backup you system.
dont soft reset hold the power button until the popup appears then press yes... worked for me
If you soft-reset just in few seconds after deleting mesages, they'll appear again. They'll also appear again if you don't let time to write again the registry.
For soft-resetting, better use an app to do this, slowly. If not, take your time to power off after some minutes. Remember the message "everything you did not save will be lost" and apply it for the fact you deleted the messages but this deletion was not "saved" yet if you don't take you time.
As I stated earlier, I even waited overnight to reset, and have done it by holding down the power buttion. They would still come back. Something was corrupt and only a hard reset would fix it.
Regarding the cooked ROM, I used MightyROM before and it gave me issues.

Experiencing sleep-of-death on the P905, need help

Basically what the title says. I own a snapdragon P905 version and I'm experiencing sleep of death on the device. It was rooted before but then the problem started ocurring and I did a factory reset but that didn't fix the problem.
Any ideas would be apreciated.
SOLUTION
It seems that reflashing a stock firmware form SAMMOBILE solved the problem for me. At least no problems ocurred since I reflashed it. Cheers, I hope it helps someone else too.
EDIT: Nop, that didn't solve it, the SOD was back after an hour or so... back to the drawing board...
What changed in that hour? Perhaps an application that was recently updated by it's developer is causing issues?

No, BUT, it seems i made a mistake by not wiping the device because, after I used ODIN to flash the alternative firmware my data wasn't deleted and I didn't have to setup the device or my apps.
Note that I have only the bare essentials installed on the tablet (Dolphin browser, facebook, battlefield battlelog, battlefield commander, BS player, splashtop 2, and hancom office - not the viewer).
I've read on some other devices the wifi module causes the SOD, I'll try disabling the wifi first. If that doesn't work I'll try installing TWRP and wiping cache/dalvik to see if that brings me anywhere. If not, I'll start picking off my apps one by one.
I didn't have enough time to do any of the things I said I'd do in the last post BUT, the Sleep Of Death was gone for 3 days untill I installed facebook and dolphin browser yesterday. Now it's back again!? I uninstalled both apps but the SOD is still here. No clue on how it went away on its own, and why it won't go away again...
I'm still looking for some fresh ideas.
EDIT: It seems that factory reset does the job, and I can install my basic apps and it works fine for a day... BUT if I leave it over night I can't turn the screen on in the morning, and the SOD is back every time after that.
EDIT 2: It was the broken micro sd card I frogot I put into the tablet...
Same here. Didn't happen at first. Now when screen goes off, I have to reboot. I am certain I will track this down.... But it's currently frustrating

@canezila - Perhaps a corrupted SD card as noted in cavkic's last update?
I don't believe it is this. As best that I know, it's working well.
