Guys,
I have installed and uninstalled Skype and now get the following error everytime I switch the device on:
"Cannot execute \Prgogram Files\Skype for PocketPC\skype.exe"
have queried the registry, have again installed and uninstalled skype but still, the error is there ...
so any other idea, before I have to perform a hard reset?
I have the same problem. I've submitted a support request to Skype today. If I get any useful response, I'll post it here.
Fraser
and you are sure that there are not shortcut in windows\startup ?
to it
yeah - no shortcuts - I tried everything....
installed skype today again (for the 10th time) and uninstalled...
didn't get the errors a couple of times - but after the first soft reset: there it is again..
I don't have a clue....
I had some startup shortcuts wich I wans't sure what they did. As a test, I moved all these shortcuts to another folder, leaving startup empty. After soft reset, the Skype problem persists, so it's not a startup issue unfortunately.

Solved
No response from Skype, but from their own forum it appears they've been aware of this at least since last October, but haven't fixed the software release. Skype's great, but I suppose uninstall problems are to be expected from the same people who brought you Kazaa....
Anyway, I solved the problem using this free utility:-
http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html
Download CheckNotifications, run it and delete any entry for Skype.exe.
Looks like this app can also speed up machines which may have slowed due to accumulating Notification logs when soft resetting.
I don't get the ntification anymore. I'm relieved as I was on the point of hard-resetting.
Hope it works for you too.
Fraser

I have an O2 XDA Exec running one of the old Crossbow ROMs (one of those where it's "Outlook Mobile" instead of "Messaging", I forget exactly which ROM it is I went for at the time). One thing I quite enjoy is that even after switching devices and upgrading the ROM is still having every SMS I've sent or received since summer 2006. This might all end here, sadly, as Outlook Mobile won't load and neither of the SMS backup programs I've tried have worked.
Here are the symptoms:
When I try and load Outlook Mobile (regardless of whether it's from the Start menu, HTC home screen, the messaging part of the today screen or the text option in Contacts) it simply does nothing.
I have tried two SMS backup programs. The EasyHelper "Contact + SMS Backup" which I normally use flashes up an error saying "Read SMS failed. Please restart device and try again. If the problem still exists, please contact your vendor.(401)" The other one (which I forget the name of now) failed to show a list of folders to backup from and if I ignore that option and try to back up anyway it sits for a while trying and then gives up (it says it's finished but it lies, the resulting file is way too small).
Don't know if this is related but the problem started around the same time. After having my device switched on for a minute or so a message will appear saying "Voice Command has encountered a problem. Restart Voice Command and try again." I don't use Voice Command so this isn't the problem but this error started showing around the same time this started.
When someone sends me an SMS nothing happens.
Don't know if this is normal or not, I get an access denied error when I try and do *anything* with cemail.vol (copy, rename, whatever)
Everything else seems to work fine (except ActiveSync but I can't remember the last time I had that working anyway, I don't use it).
I have tried:
Many soft resets.
Killing poutlook.exe and removing from the Today screen anything that might interact with the messaging.
Launching Outlook Mobile in different ways.
Two SMS backup programs.
Sending myself an SMS from a different phone.
Nothing works and I can't access my messages. Obviously as someone who's been keeping messages for about two years now (crossed the 10,000 mark I think) I'm slightly annoyed about this. I'm planning to reflash my phone to a newer WM6 ROM as soon as I'm not using it as my sole method for Internet access so my only concern here is saving my mass of text messages (either in a format I can read on my PC or a format I can restore from after reflashing my Universal).
If only I'd known before tonight that there was a free program to backup SMS on a schedule...
Any ideas at all? I'm comfortable doing registry hacks or typing commands or whatever needs doing. My messages are on this device somewhere and I want them. There's important nostalgia in there. Help greatly appreciated as ever.
Huh. It works now. No idea why, just got a text message today having not tried it for a couple of days and it seems okay. Frantically taking backups now.
Something on my SD card was messing it up, not sure what but removing the SD card allowed me to back up my messages. I removed the SD card, allowed it to create a "Storage Card" folder when it fails to save something to the SD card (it does this) and then reinserted the SD card and had the backup software back up to "/Storage Card2".
Weird. But I've solved the problem (in my case) and made a note of it on the offchance it might help someone coming in from Google someday.
ROM flashing time!
Thank youu!
Thank you very much... I had the same problem, but noticed it only yesterday!
Apparently I have been receiving sms messages since 3 or 4 days, but it shows nothing on my today screen. Yesterday I tried to open outlook because a friend told me he sent me a message, but... nothing!!!
When I removed the SD card it worked
But no messages since 3 or 4 days! and thus can't know who sent me messages
Anyway, thank you for your thread... and yes, I came from Google
sorry to bump an old thread, but this exact problem happened to me out of nowhere today. google searched it and this thread came up. i noticed i hadn't received even spam in my email to day and that error popped up about voice command. removed my sd card and it all went away.... very strange.
i have not installed any new programs either...
I think I've put this in the right place, but Mods please feel free to move it if I haven't.
My O2 XDA Ignito (HTC Touch Diamond in a different housing) has worked perfectly with iFonz for many months. I'm on version 1.1.2. I am very, very happy with iFonz and would not want to go back to TouchFlo which is nowhere near as good.
Yesterday, iFonz suddenly started operating extremely slowly. I thought I had crashed, but in fact it responds to commands but takes anything from 15 seconds to over a minute to do so. Until then, it has been virtually instantaneous.
The first command I issue after it's been left for some time will work as normal, but if I open (say) the PI Calendar, then close that - the nothing else will work for about 15 seconds after the keypress.
The only change I know about is that I had a problem with ActiveSynch to a new desktop installation (the familiar 0x86000107 problem) which I fixed in the usual way by deleting and reinstalling the pairing. Activesync worked fine after that.
I have S2U2 running - but that's always been there.
I noticed from the time I first installed iFonz that it would not update its header bar for several seconds after starting, but everything else worked OK.
Can anyone suggest a cause or a fix? I'm reluctant to uninstall and reinstall because I've set up 4 pages of icons and don't want to lose all that work.
I never used iFonz but i'm pretty sure the settings are kept somewhere so you can export them and not have to set everything up from the beginning. I always suggest uninstalling to check what causes the problem.
Thank you. Indeed, that is what I would have expected. I've searched the machine carefully, and found the iFonz software but no settings file.
I've PMed the author, and meanwhile I've taken iFonz off the startup list and running Touchflo instead. I don't like it anything like as much as iFonz, but it works.
Well, there's been no reply from the author, and everything I've tried (including uninstall and reinstall) has made no difference. Sad, because I liked iFonz.

Please tell me how to fix the above a bit more specifik...
I don't understand what you mean by: "pairing"
"Pairing" is setting up the ActiveSync connection between the PDA/phone and the PC so that they will synchronise when you connect them.
If you get the error, you have a problem. I fixed mine for a few months, but then the problem came back worse, and the fixes that used to work stopped. Basically, I don't think ActiveSync is capable of doing the job reliably. It deleted all my contacts (losing me a load of names and addresses that I needed and couldn't recover). I threw it out some time ago.
I now use an iPhone which doesn't have any of those problems.
Hi everyone,
I've got a huge problem with my touch cruise:
A few weeks ago, something happened with my phone and I could no longer access any of the mail features of outlook. I performed a hard reset, switched to a new rom, and now the problem is back!
In M2D, the email accounts disappeared (says "no accounts"); and the text messaging says "no messages. If I clicked on messaging in the start menu, nothing happens.
I can still access all of the other features of outlook - contacts, calendar, and tasks work fine.
When this first happened, I searched around, tried a few things that might have helped, and nothing worked. I performed a hard reset, and installed a new ROM (originally was M-AMINE's final, now is c_shekhar's most recent with footprints included), and things seemed to work fine. Now, just last night, the exact same thing happened as before.
The first time I had installed imappusher a day or 2 before, so I thought that might be the culprit. This time, however, I did not install that software, and the error still happened.
Any thoughts? Potential culprits? Ways to fix it? Ways to prevent it in the future?
Thanks for reading,
-Talbot
weird timing, someone else posted a similar problem right before me, and there's a solution that seems to have worked in there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486297
Snapphane's fix worked for me, or at least it allows me to access the mail part of outlook so far (I have not re- set up the email accounts- it looks like all of my mail has still disappeared).
I went to the storage card with file explorer, and deleted a folder called something like "inbox.msi.233406...", and now all of a sudden I can get into the mail fine.
Thanks snapphane, and lets hope it keeps working!
Hello everyone,
So far I have seen many people having off and on trouble with HTC Peep (Twitter tab in HTC Sense).
I wanted to create this to gather all the information and list a few different fixes that have worked for some people.
Specifically we are getting:
"There was a connection error while attempting to download tweets"
or
Issues actually entering the username and password.
Fixes so far:
Trying on only WiFi/3G (some people have it working on one and not the other)
Hard Reset (but sometimes only works for a couple of 'syncs')
Removing the login information from the registry
Making sure the Location settings are set
Using Dutty's 'Remove My Location' Tool
What have other people tried to get this working?
I found that using Dutty's tool worked, then it only worked on WiFi and now nothing again!

So setting the time correctly... can anyone define this? Syncing time with some server? I mean it's set to be the same as my PC time which syncs to time severs.

just need to adjust the time to the current time..and it will allows u to login without any problem.this way works for me.u can have a try on this.
It's making me mad! I have the latest dutty ROM (for topaz), tryed with other roms. It just says the same: error while connecting or after i login with wi-fi and then try with data connection it says network unavailable.
I installed duttys disable my location feature. Nothing...
Where in the registry are stored the login credetials an other settings? Do you have any idea what to try?
I tried to set up the clock correctly. It is correct (correct after what clock? ). Still nothing...
I found using the new EnergyROM on my Touch Pro2 works great. The Twitter engine was fixed up in the latest versions, works all the time now on 3G and WiFi.
I'm already using the latest version of manila 2.5 (19202525) but it just doesn't work. Did you do anything special? Like enabling my location or something...
I'm getting the same problem here on my HTC Topaz. Peep only connects through Wi-Fi and not through 3G. Is there a solution?
Kind regards,
Sander
I had the same problem.
I went under settings in manila and then Data services. Select the time sync one and turn off the Allow to use network value to update time.
Twitter was working and I turned the above on and twitter stops?
Anyhow the above worked for me. good luck
Background
Is it just me or is the TAB almost useless as the TEXT BOX for writing new PEEPS has black background? And when writing the text is blue so it almost impossible to see what you write....
Does any know of a solution?
I hope anyone can help me with the problems i am having with HTC Peep,
Some of the time it works fine while updating. other times i get a connection error.. but thats not the worst problem. i was wondering if anyone could help me find a register setting or tweak that would set a maximum limit to the amount of tweets in htc peep, the ammount of errors and loading time of the tab seems to increase when the ammount of tweets become more and more. for now the only solution i have found to speed it up again is hard reset and i dont like that if anyone could help me i would be really greatfull!

Solved the problem...
Uncheck the Data services of twitter...
and then, check your Date and Time...
i tried to check the date is "My Locations" *i'm not input my city...
after that, i choose 12-Hours Time,Not 24-Hours Time...
i don't know which one the correct one...
but i changes that, after that my HTC PEEP came NORMALLY again....
to those of you who are still getting this error. mine error's where fixed after removing all of the auto disconnect data apps.. like wmlonglife
Have finally ditched Peep in favour of PockeTwit...
Today was the last straw. I had just installed a new Storage Card. Whether the problems with Peep stem from this or this was just coincidental I dont know.
It had been working fine for a month or so, until today.
But this is not the first time Peep has stopped working.
It gives me a combination of error connecting and incorrect username or password consistently.
In the past I was able to get it working by logging in with a new twitter account. Not this time though.
I have also tried:
- deleting all registry account settings for twitter - even deleted the registry keys in desperation and re-imported them.
- renewing the connection database.
- Checking the location and time settings.
All to no avail.
PockeTwit works perfectly - all the time, every time.
So I have removed the Peep Tab from the Sense UI until an update or new ROM comes out fixing the silly thing....
Life is too short to stuff around with this sort of bad programming.
There are too many tabs the sense UI in any case.
HTC Twitter login problem - what worked for me
I have a Sprint Rhodium with WM.6.5. My twitter tab kept giving me an incorrect login info message, even after several soft resets. I changed my password online, removed Twitter home tab, then replaced it after a soft reset. I was then able to login. I was very relieved I didn't have to hard reset or try registry changes.
I hope this works for someone else!
HTC Peep "All Tweets" Tab
Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has been having the following problem with HTC Peep. IT loads fine, in the first screen I can read all my latest tweets. However, when I want to reply or press "All Tweets" the app goes to the next page and then freezes. This sometimes causes the whole telephone to hang and requires a soft reset. If I'm quick enough, then I can get out of the "All Tweets" screen and recover back to Sense.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Perhaps I just need to hard reset? Who can give me any handy tips? Thanks in advance!
The solution
Just put your proxyserver off, and Twitter wil work again.
"All Tweets" direct link?
Hi,
I am searching mad for o way to direct link the "All Tweets" button from a shortcut. So far i figured out that "All Tweets" is a manila subpage so the link should look like
"\windows\manila.exe --switchtopage twitter.page.something".
Can someone help me make this work?
I started having a problem with my twitter on my HD2. When i try to update, an error message comes up saying " The account was forbidden to access the twitter server!?". Has anyone had this problem before?
[SOLVED]
I can not get into the phone call (green phone button) to the dialer, this is the main problem; when I open it, it hangs for a few seconds then I get a message box centered in the middle of the screen: Contacts has stopped. - only OK button to press; and pressing returns to homescreen.
Everytime after sending an SMS I get: "messaging has stopped", although still I can send.
I can access the contacts normally and also everything else is fine. when I start calling someone from there, it works also fine, with the resemling dialer(?) look while talking. But then right after finishing call, again a message pops up: com.android.phone has stopped
- resulting that the calls are not being logged.
the app "GO Contacts Ex" would be ok as an alternative, but here again, after the call ends, the message comes up: com.android.phone has stopped. also other apps like contact+/dialer+ and exDialer&contacts seem like that all using somehow com.android.phone in the end and causing that error message box coming up.
if no fix, is there an alternative app totally replacing the usage of com.android.phone? so that I could use another app?
I have found and tried some suggestions from google to this problem, but none of them helped..
deleting cache in: apps -> all -> contacts memory and contacts and phone, & reboot; - several tries, also SIM card out, and reloads, re-sync;
uninstalled recent updated apps; reboots, sim out, re sync etc.
It seems like there is one small thing interrupting but I can be wrong.
I dont wish to do a factory reset first, and lose all my apps and settings. Before doing that desperately, I would like know if someone could help me out in here? It could be one small setting or stuff to do
I am using JB 4.1.2 rooted
it is possible that I disabled some important processes earlier which caused that, but I enabled them all again and restarted, still nothing changed. otherwise this problem started surely after recent app updates, which i also tried undone and checked
any help is appreciated!
SOLUTION
1. Just stop and deactivate the apps "phone", "contacts" as well as the "logsprovider". And delete each caches.
2. Reboot. Activate these apps. Reboot again.
Another reason for "com.android.phone has stopped" coming up is when you previously deactivated com.movial.ipprovider, or if it is damaged, which is needed to connect to the internet. The error starts coming permanently as soon the phone trys to connect to the internet.
Solution: just stop com.movial.ipprovider, delete its cache and reboot! (or reinstall it)
I can avoid the first two problems (contacts and messaging has stopped) by simply using a different app which I at least like better (Dialer+ / Contacts+ including sms), and have deactivated the stock versions now (contact and messaging). - and I am happy with that!
the problem with com.android.phone still remains after each call, for both incoming and outgoing. the bothering thing is that error message box, and that the calls are not being logged at all, but sms messages are logged fine.
(I could not find any app that could be an alternative to this com.android.phone, similar to the contacts and messages app. all the 3rd party caller and dialer apps uses com.android.phone in the end when dialing. if i uninstall com.android.phone, there is only skype as an alternative to call. and uninstalling skype gives then no possible ways to call a number. so I need to fix this somehow.)
problems:
1. message "the process com.android.phone has stopped" after every calls.
2. no calls are logged
please find attached a logcat logs when that happens, maybe someone can understand what is causing this (look for com.android.phone).
what is for example E ActivityThread: Failed to find provider info for logs ?
and what can you suggest me?
I got it !!!
I searched and located the file on where the calls logs are being saved: data/data/com.sec.android.provider.logsprovider/databases/logs.db
As I thought it could be damaged. I cleared the cache from LogsProvider and restarted it, and the error is now gone since then!
But clearing also deleted all the files in its folder including the logs.db. Unfortunately it doesnt recreate this files, even after a reboot. How can I get these structure and basic files again?
Can someone copy this for me? or can I use any logprovider files from internet?...
will check ...
SOLVED !!!!
after reactivating Contacts & Phone, also a brand new folder structure with logs.db was recreated automatically !!!!!
Everything is running smoothly now!!! yay!!!
Just FYI and to summarize, in case it happens to you. it was either logs.db file or something in logsprovider folder damaged.
SOLUTION: just stopped com.android.phone and logsprovider service, and deleted the cache from both. then reactivating them should be ok! then just reboot!
cheers

I was looking at this and hoping these drastic moves could fix the reason I cannot share my contacts using the share command. It force closes afterwards.
Sadly, I've tried all of this and my contacts still cannot share. So you have any idea what could be wrong with my Galaxy S Relay? I am rooted (but using stock 4.1.2) at this time, and have only removed bloatware such as Evernote, Slacker, etc.

Sorry for waking an old thread. I am facing a similar problem.
My Device is -
Xiaomi Redmi 1SW (Rooted)
Android 4.4.4
MIUI 7.2.3.0 KHCMIDA
I have removed all bloatware as mentioned in this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xia...-to-remove-bloatware-list-miui-t2999283/page2) and also another app called 'Xiaomi Service Framework' if these are causing the problem.
I was earlier facing this problem when I was using MIUI 7.1.1.0 KHCMICH (Rooted and Xposed installed). It suddenly started occurring as soon as I connected my phone to the PC before even doing anything. The pop-ups (Unfortunately Phone has stopped) became irritating. Luckily, I had USB debugging enabled. I connected the phone to the computer and put the following in the CMD -
adb devices
adb shell
su
pm disable com.android.phone
exit
exit
exit
Then the window stopped appearing. So I (mark this) turned off Wi-Fi and disconnected phone from PC. I was using the phone normally for few hours. But I realized that outgoing calls on my phone were not possible (the system dialer (com.android.contacts) closed after pressing the call button) and no incoming calls were being recorded (I use the in-built call record feature in the system dialer app). So I connected my phone back to the computer and wrote
pm enable com.android.phone
in place of pm disable com.android.phone keeping all above mentioned commands same.
This time the window did not appear. I was able to make and record calls perfectly. But on the same day, when I again switched on Wi-Fi, the window started reappearing. So I used my device by keeping the com.android.phone disabled for few days.
After few days, I got an OTA update to MIUI 7.2.3.0 KHCMIDA. I thought it would solve the problem.
I also wanted to reset my device because it had lot of junk. So, I flashed the update, rooted the device, removed all bloatware apps again (which came after the update) and shut down my phone. The error window hadn't appeared yet though com.android.phone was enabled and Wi-Fi was connected.
Then I booted into recovery and erased the cache and data partitions (NOT the internal storage). Then after phone was booted and as soon as all setup was done, the error window started coming up again.
So, I don't think that data/data/com.sec.android.provider.logsprovider/databases/logs.db has any problem because it was erased completely after I wiped data.
I need HELP !!!
I get the same message (com.android.phone and a few others) over and over again and my phone is veeeeery slow. It all started after I put my SIM-card into the phone for the first time. I have an S7 with SuperMan-ROM installed. I can't deactivate my "contacts", it just doesn't let me push the deactivate-button. Plus I can't find the phone-app or logsprovider. Is there a different appmanager apart from the stock which I could use to delete and deactivate?
Hi
