how to revert back to an earlier ROM? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

hi,
i wanted to flash my mini back to ROM 1.12 WWE. had upgraded it using the T-Mobile ROM but there is a lot of call dropping on it. anyways i remember that i had backed up my original ROM. but now m confused as to which is my original ROM? i have two files one for 63.7 mb (named kunalbigstorage.nb1) and the other myrom.nb1 of 246 mb.
can i use one of these files to revert back to my original rom? the first one is earlier in time.
if i can then what is the procedure for reverting back? i have the ampda guide as well as the toomuchdogfur guide but m a bit confused as to how do go about it.

I think that myrom.nb1 is your very original rom backup, meaning that it contains the ext rom. The latter is a version of your myrom.nb1 with bigstorage applied to it. If so, either of the 2 should work.

i think so too. i read the ampda guide a no. of times to figure that out. i think the kunalbigstorage.nb1 can be used to flash back (thats what i think, ampda can provide more clues). but i think i wud have to do write the ROM back to the SD card using ntrw to flash it again. anyways i managed to reflash my mini to a lower ROM. but had to use toomuchdogfur's guide for the big storage as ampda's guide needs a big storage ROM. lets hope everything goes well.

Most likely. Try running the upgrade outright first, and if it fails follow a tutorial to install the ROM.
yeah. will try doing that. but will take a backup of my rom first so that i can revert back to it if anything goes wrong. thnks anyways
i just updated my ROM using BB_Firmware_MDACompact_11300_121_11200. got the country id error. used ampda tutorial to fix that error and everything went fine! phone upgraded to 1.13 ROM and 1.12 radio. but the date was in dutch!! didnt really like that so used sprite backup to revert back to a backup file which i created before i flashed the ROM. now i have the latest ROM with all my programs but a very different ExtROM folder. very few files in it!! but the phone seems to work fine n it has all my earlier programs. keeping my fingers crossed.. hope nothing goes wrong!!

Did you use the GetUpgradeData util to capture the .sbu of your old ROM? By doing so you will ensure a smooth restore to your new ROM, see the Sprite FAQ "Restoring after ROM upgrade.." for easy step by step instructions with screens:
http://www.spritesoftware.com/faq.php
actually i didnt!! just backed up using my executable sprite back up file. also the said utility is for a smartphone n not a pocket pc. atleast thats what the faq says. also m running windows mobile 2003 SE and not 2005. guess its not for 2003 SE. anyways nothing seems wrong with my phone. all the programs work fine.

Well if it anit broke then why fix it! Upgrade mode is available in Sprite Backup 2.1 for smartphone, if you search the faqs for your WM version then there will be a corresponding FAQ with a link the the correct Upgrade data utility
hey,
yeah u rite. but like i said everything works fine. so no issues! needed to restore as i didnt like the qtek rom. the date was in dutch. ampda mentioned that u cud use sprite to do a restore . so thats why i did it.

how to flash extendedROM before Warranty return

Hi I'm thinking of returning my m600 to the Orange SAV because of a speaker problem.
I tried a wm6 ROM and then downgrade (with difficulties) to my original wm5 rom , then found a way to put original orange bootloader screen, but the extendedROM is still the PDAMobiz Prophet WM6 (and there is no more installation process at hard reset like when I was using wm6), and I need to put the one which was furnished by Orange (I have a backup of it using awizard).
I succeed in unhidding the extendedROM2 folder (thanks to another post), then delete the PDAMobiz files and put the Orange one, but after hard-reset nothing install, and when I reveal the extendedROM2 folder PDAMobiz files reapear.
So I hope there is another way to restore my orange content.
What about the warranty if it has been flashed and then downgrade and make it as the original one?
thank you for helping a Newbie
Strange Official ROMs include extended_rom that are written upon flashing process. Are you sure you used an official?
Else...
You can try to use my software (WST - check signature) that, although made for wizard, i believe will work.
Best thing is to use the READ ROM feature before flashing to be sure that the addresses are the same (should result in a 10MB file that can be opened with Winimage)
The other way is to get pdocread.exe and itsutils.dll and get the extended rom partition handle and then use pdocwrite to flash an extended rom.
Last option is to get an official RUU and extract the nk.nbf and then from it extract the extended_rom chunk. Then make a nk.nbf with only that chunk and pack it back into an RUU exe.
your choice
You flash your Orange Rom wrong!
If you use a Original Firmware ... all are overwriten! Ext Rom too!
Don't worry, the first thing Orange do when the phone reachs their labs is to flash it with the official rom, test it and send it back to another customer if it works.
I think even with your pirate wm6 rom you would have met no trouble but I'm quite sure they won't even notice you changed the ext-rom.
If you really want to be sure, just unlock the extrom, delete the content and relock it

Roll back to Official ROM

Hi guys
I really had a blast out here in the vox section..
I am now plannin to give my HTCS710 to my sis as I now I am using my prophet (got it repaired after more than a year)
(Current ROM WM6.1 Standard by Dr.Gonzo)
Hence I wanna roll back from WM6.1 to official ROM of HTC710.How do I do this and where can I look for the official ROM
I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.exe FROM FTP is this the correct/latest official ROM for HTS710 and now what is the procedure to flash the Dr.Gonzo ROM back to Official ROM
Thanks
I just flashed my ROM with the above version of ROM..
Just launched the file from the desktop and followed the step by step instructions on the screen..
Later it got stuck at the boot screen..ROM UPDATE WAS ON 0%
I restarted my phone (WO Removing the batt) and flashed again with above file this time within 10min it was flashed and now my phone is ROLLED BACK to WM6
Now I wanna know tht is the measure that I took to flash the phone ALL OK !!or later there cud be some problem wid my phone!
You're done! That's the way to flash a ROM. One thing you might want to do is hard reset after is comes up and let it re-initialise a cool-boot-start.
Why are you going back to 6.0 instead of letting your sister use 6.1?
I think what you need to do is double click the "RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship .exe " file.
I it does not work, you can use jocky's tools to bypass the SPL check
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330909
How essential is it to Hard Reset after its all done...
I am asking you this cause I have already reinstalled some of the essential software...nevertheless I can still Hard REset it if you feel its IMP
Very soon my Sister will be shifting to another city...incase if the phone is flashed with WM6.1 the service station may not give warranty or charge more to repair in case if there is some issue..
In fact I really liked the WM6.1!!
Will flash WM6.1 on my prophet..
Awaiting your reply
Thanks
No need to hard reset, just a pre-caution. Not too important.
Ah, I see your reasoning for going back to the shipped ROM. What I would do is flash uSPL, stick a shipped ROM NBH as vox0img on the root of the SD and leave 6.1 - if she has any issues all she needs to do is hold the camera button and plug it in via a USB cable. It will auto-flash the 6.0 ROM from SD and tada. Back to normal.

Revert Flashed ROM to Stock?

Hi guys,
I have a touch pro with a few issues (the same as everyone else) and I want to try a few things out in order to try and fix it. I just need to know I can revert it back to its original state if I need to...
This is my first Windows Mobile device, I have flashed hardspl to the device as the thread gives instructions on how to flash back, I'm just a bit concerned about restoring the original rom if I change it; The wiki has a few stock roms available, but it seems they include the SPL which I've read wont work correctly with hardspl installed. I've backed up the rom using pdocread, can I flash it back with pdocwrite without any issues? Obviously if I reconstruct it to flash back, it wont have the HTC signature so if I put the original SPL back on I will have a brick.
I'd like to mess around in the kitchen but need a way to revert it back to retail. How is this usually done?
Thanks.
Simply flash your chosen stock ROM (from the wiki as you pointed out). This will not overwrite your SPL. Hard SPL simply enables you to flash any ROM, stock or otherwise. There is a Stock SPL that you can flash for warranty purposes in post #1 of the HardSPL thread.
