Hong uses the Orwells ROM, Faria is using a new ROM.
My opinion, I like hong's ROM's, they're packed with stuff I even use and his ROM's are stable as also are Faria's.
Again, my opinion folks...........

This rom is not so bad....stable for me so far.
Everything works as advertised.
No tweaks needed, not too many software add-ons.
So far it's an 8.5 out of 10. If battery holds up...I may give it a 9.
This one must have slipped thru the cracks.

Comparing MB ROM and Faria's New ROM

Can anyone compare these 2 ROMs?
I am not sure if this thread was necessary, but i am pretty sure there are others out there just like me, who are very picky or maybe i should say very confiused about upgrading every other week, installing everything all over again and once everything is perfect and stable, doing everything all over again because there is a new ROM cooked..
Much Respect to Faria and Other ROM cookers out there.. I dont mean to disrespect to your great work.. I just want to know if we should wait, or go with the new ROM.. I am pretty sure you great cookers will come up with new ROMs..
Thank you and once again, dont mean to disrespect.. Just curious..

If the MB works fine for you, you don't need to upgrade to another ROM. The Faria's ROM was release for less than 12 hours, people need more times to install programs and check out all of the pro and con.
MB was based on the beta WM6 ROM.
Faria was a new possibly real/final ROM according to him.
Backup your programs using any good backup programs and try the new ROM. If you don't like Faria's ROM, reload the MB ROM and run your backup, it will take less than 15 minutes. Only you can tell if it's good for you or not.

good point
Just looking at the listing of whats in that ROM, it looks bloated. I like the cleanness of the MB rom. Ill wait for him to release the vanilla rom before trying it out. I perfer to choose my own apps to load. most of that other stuff i rarely use, why waste the ram and flash space for it.
Faria makes good ROMs. I just perfer mine to be clean, so i can make my own choices.

That is something I would like to try doing one of these days. I just havent had the free time.
That will be my next step, trying to make my own custom ROMs.
Yes, I was am waiting as well to see the "vanilla" version of his rom so it doesn't have all those extra programs that I don't use anyway. I don't like that he stripped pieces from the rom either (like VOIP even though it's not working.... yet)
My MB Edition works so good for me now I will wait til all the bugs are worked out and patches posted before I try Faria's latest.

or you could simple do your own! as for voip it does not work because ther is no service for it plus the app is imcomplete in all wm6 roms ..so whats the point of having it?
I don't think it's incomplete... well, not totally.. I believe we just need to figure out what will trigger the menu options for it. Well, no one knew the VOIP button was in the comm manager until I tried to add it just for the hell of it. I am sure there are lots to be discovered about it if we had enough people trying things.

Thanks for your input. I am assuming your rom is straight from HTC or from someone you know at HTC? Is this "new" rom different from the one you uploaded yesterday that you had for a year? What is the date on it?

When is the release of the actual WM6??

One bug - When the Wizard is in Standby mode and set to vibrate, it does not vibrate on new e-mails received. It worked correctly in the 2.26 ROM I was using previously, but didn't work in the 1.18 ROM that was on the device when I first got it. Looks like the behavior is back to the way it was in the early WM5 ROMs. I get the feeling this is deeper than just a tweak to the registry, but would happily be corrected.
As for the "feature" aspect, I think Microsoft refers to them as "opportunities for developers".

wrong... you comparing 2 totaly diferent roms... and again this is in all crossbow roms...so how do you call it a bug in my rom?
i fact this thread should not exist because there is no other roms that can be compared to?
if you people want to compare o slag anyones work at least make sure that the 2 roms have the same core, dont you think?

Whose ROM are you using and why?

SORRY I LEFT OUT Q-MOBILE! If you're using it or another unlisted custom ROM, just choose "other" and then post below to specify which ROM you're using.
In fact, even if you choose a specific "chef," please specify WHICH version/variation you're using and WHY.
I'm currently on Dutty #6 - tried #7, but I didn't find it quite as good. Waiting for 8! I might try other people's ROMs at some point, but that's partly why I asked this question - I want to know whose ROMs are most popular and why. Fast? Stable? Clean? Useful?
Dutty's Rom
I am using Dutty's Tilt Rom...uh on my tilt. It seems very stable and I have a bunch of apps running. It's been about 2 weeks and so far so good.
The only problem with loading one of dutty's rom's is that he never sleeps so you get addicted to flashing your Kaiser.: eek:

I've got to agree with you... I'm addicted now. But which version are you using?
I'm using Dutty's latest No. 7. For me, his ROMs have been very stable and fast.
XDA Live v1.2. I like the design goal of maximizing storage space and only installing what I want. It's almost like cooking my own rom, but much easier.
I'm using Dutty's No. 6 Lite HTC ROM.
I always want to have a clean, fast and stable ROM. I was running CUSTEL v2.1 first, but decided to turn to Dutty's ROMs because he has LOTS of updates! (I like flashing )
Maybe (if possible) you should add Q-Mobile ROM to the poll! I looks like an interesting ROM.

Dangit - won't let me change it. I just noticed that myself. I guess people will have to choose "other" and type it in. I'd hate to start the poll over. :-/ Can a mod step in and help out?
Sorry Q!!!
Dutty's ATT touchflow ROM.
Full featured, has many of the extras already built in, minus that AT&T bloat crap. It runs very well for me.

No problem, besides...having just posted it last night the adoption rate would take a while anyway--and thats assuming people like it.
Was using Dutty's Tilt-Touchflo Beta but I ran into some issues and now I'm trying out Q's. Looks good so far, fast, stable.
XDA-Live 1.2 for me. It's very stable, everything works like it's supposed to, and I like how streamlined and fast it is. I wanted an ATT Tilt specific ROM, and of those choices, this one works the smoothest. I like to be able to customize what apps are on there too.

Agreed. This is my current cooked ROM of choice after using 5 superb ROMS. Check it out. Simple, lightweight, fast and stable (for at least a full day of use)
Hat's off to all the chefs!
Currently using Dutty Touchflo 2 final non tilt edition on my tilt..... its the best for me till now... gave the no. 6 touchflo rom a try, but it was severely crippling my Tilt with random occasional freezing.... I am very happy with Touchflo 2.... its uber-fast and I simply love its freaky-fast responsiveness.....
i am using Helmi_C since day one, tried different ROM but i ended up going back, it's old, but it's quick, fast and big storage! most of all, it's quite stable and no problem whatsoever!

I should have agreed with you a few weeks ago. Helmi_c had a very nice and stable ROM for a long time.
I've used Dutty's ROMs and CUSTEL ROMS but I still think Helmi_C had the best ROM for a long time.
Today I flashed Q-Mobile 1.0 ROM and I gives me the "Helmi_C" feeling!
It's clean, fast and seems to be stable! I think I'll stick with this one. (At least for a couple of days )
XDA Live 1.2
So far so good with this ROM. I didn't want to screw around with a non-at&t variant because I'm a noob. I loaded some SPB software and iGO for GPS and it's running great. There's loads of storage available since the ROM is smaller.
As far as stability goes, it works well enough when I reset every couple of days. Sometimes there are random freezes when it is unresponsive but these have gone down a bit since I figured out installing everything to the device works best. I had one SOD a couple nights ago when screwing around with finger-friendly friends but only that once. For now I am just going to use the stock contact supplemented with SPB contacts on Today.
The reason I plan on sticking with this ROM is that I figure Kyphur has a good chance of getting it completely stable easier than a ROM with a bunch of programs. It's already blazing fast and the radio version works well for me so far.
Q-Mobile 1.0 here - I've tried every rom, and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Q-Mobile just seems to fit nicely in with what I expect the device to do, and how I think it should look. Fast, stable, no bugs that I've found, and a nice set of default apps.
I hate to reply to this one since it should be up to you to read up on it and try it out. But then again you want instant gratification so here DUTTY's rom no.6 or later. Why? Because no one else has put forth more time and effort into releasing these roms than he has and not to leave out his beta tester community too.
I'm not sure what it is, but I got that weird freezing on every rom I tried out. Right now, I'm using Alex cook your own rom and that is causing freezing, too. Any roms out there that don't have that freezing problem? I think its a normal thing cause the base rom.

A New ROM

I've been given a new replacement Wizard, so im back to my old crappy T-mobile ROM (cringes). I have not been on for ages, so i just thought id ask you to recommend me a good new ROM.
Im looking for a largeish pagepool so it will run nice and quick. I have an SD for programs etc . I wouldnt mind some decent software as well, not really bothered about the stupid cube or any of that ****, but HTC Home etc working correctly would be nice. See what you guys think
There are currently many great new roms here, so long as your phone is unlocked and ready to receive the new roms. There are sticky posts at the top that tell you how to tell if, and how to unlock the phones accordingly.
G3 or G4 ??
The latest roms here are working well for the majority of the users - and each offers a little something for everyone, depending on your needs - one may be better than the other.
Slim 6.1 / TNT lastest / KhanX / Octavio 6.3 / Vanilla roms
All great roms, read the posts, see what users are having issues with - and pick the best one for your needs. No easy answer - try them, and use the one that best fits your needs.
Good luck
Looks like they've given me another G3 which is good. I like the the G3 method, allows me to revert back if it ever needs fixing again. Ive been looking at that Slim one, which looks very interesting. TNT is what i had on before, but it sometimes was slow, but that was possibly my fault. If only i could utilize the internal memory and make a bigger pagepool
What would you guys recommend then, based on what im looking for?
Doesnt matter,look at bill_in_mtl his post,just get oneand try,G3 is oke,if you have a G3 device

I think one of the differences between say the TNT and the Slim ROM's is the amount of programs built into them. I have used the Slim ROM and liked it as it has very little included. The TNT has more built in even the offical version has more than I like but that is just me.They all seem to work well. Myself I cooked a very plain 6.0 ROM with theloons kitchen and so far I keep going back to it. Give me a kitchen for the 6.1 ROM and I'm all over it. its right as said that he may release a kitchen for his ROM. That would be great.
Kirby
Im trying the TNT rom. lets see where i get .
Im going to change the pagepool, whats the maximum recommended? is there any sort of size where the performance wont improve?
Cheers
OK, whacked on TNT. running great, but the Home audio manager (which im very used to using lol) comes up with some error "AudioManager.exe" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate....... etc etc. Is there anyway of signing it, because i know its installed properly!

I think the max page pool is 12Mb but could be wrong. Somep;ace in the system is a place to tell it not to worry about trusted certs. Can't rememebr where it is at but a search will turn up the info.

working on finding that place. Now ive upped the pp to 12mb, it runs like a charm. and i installed this SRS WOW driver and its a beast. just going to install home then im sorted
Someone said it might not be, and thats its files missing. but that actual software itself works. it just happens to not execute from the front of home!
Okay, i think i want to change already. When you press the power button, the audio goes off as well that was one of the best features of the old TNT rom. Looks like its time for a change

Slim 6.1
By Merlin Reloaded
Super fast and super stable and not loaded up with ANY bull****. That means you can add all the bull**** your self.
I tried TNT 6.1 Rom and even with a huge pagepool it ran slower. I noticed that 6.1 roms run better with a smaller PagePool.
I tried OCtavio's rom but I think it had some annoyances I couldn't live with.
TNT is best in Batery,
Octavio's rom was very good..
But so far my favorite is Merlins 6.1 It has a medium drain on the battery so I bring My charger if I plan to surf the web at starbucks. other than that it will last over a day with normal use. (like 1hr conversation and about 50 text; google downloading mail; and so on. also WiFi G enabled.
ahh, i migth put the slim one on just to try it. but id rather not have it drain battery. for some reason the sound has gone dead on my phone. ive read somewhere its a glitch (ive got that one i posted in below). how do you get the sound back ?

Which ROM could someone please advise?

Hi
Could someone please recommend a ROM for my orange uk kaiser? I'm currently running 1.2 sleuth but has become unstable of late, probably my fault, i know
As i understand it i need a ROM which doesn't affect the radio which is why I chose sleuth originally.
Thanks in advance.
Can't you just chose any ROM of your liking and then flash back to whatever Radio ROM you want to use? As long as the desired Radio is compatible with the chosen ROM of course...

It is in your best interest to decide which ROM you and only you like the best.
As of late, most of the chefs here are attaching radios to their ROM but please do make sure if you change radios they are compatible.
Lately, the most popular are:
Death V2
Leo's
Duttys.
Hope that helps and flash away!
thanks for the info, i have 1.27.14.32 radio but none of the ROMS seem to include this or state their compatability.
heh someone still using wm6.0
upgrade to 6.1 is recommended..
Ones i find useful are Dutty's Hyprid 2 from apr29
His latest is still a test and i had a bit of problems with it
For something fast i would recommend S4V.19701.01 Full
It's super-fast and i might switch back to it when i have time to flash again and when i can be bothered reinstalling everything hehe,
I am using Dutty's April 29 ROM with cube. Have also flashed the 1.65.20.29 radio and have absolutely no problems so far.
Highly recommended... Stable and fast.
I flashed 2 or 3 other ROMs after this but always reverted back within 24 hours.
Sorry for the duplicate post...
hey ive used them all pretty much! Enjoyed Dutty's for a while. But the sheer speed of every aspect of Death V2 has made me stick with that.. Props to the chef!
I like Dutty's April 29 ROM
I like Dutty's April 29 ROM. I am using MioMap and Skype and both works with that rom. Its also very fast I am a business user and check email from exchange and other stuff and this ROM has performed exceptionally well. I upgraded from a 4 month old ROM so I was very surprised.
Give that a try its seems stable to me and has a lot of the bugs fixed. Don't go for the Dutty's test rom I flashed it and went to Dutty's April 29 ROM almost immediately.
I had issues with keyboard, the performance was slow and Miomap and SKype didn't work.
Just my 2 cents.
i recommend dutty's 16 april.
The fastes i ever used. But the 29 april is almost the same.
16 April has quicker acces to menu while 29 April quicker acces has to windows map.
Death V2
Can someone point me to the thread for this ROM please?

Generally spoon feeding is shunned upon, but i'll chip in. For the past several months I've been using Q-Mobile. Never had a lag problem, never had a freezing problem, never had instability problems, never had ANY problems. Its fast, stable, and stable...and did i mentioned stable? I've flashed almost every rom that exists and this has been the most bug-free, lag-free, problem-free, rom I have ever put my hands on. I always go back to it because it runs so smooth.
I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

One worth trying and compatile with older radios. Stable, snappy and was one of my favorites. Would flash back to it but have Dutty's WM6.1 5.2.19209 running pretty well and haven't mastered UC yet (I think Sashimi might get push me over the edge)

easily hands down, leos diamond v3 rom. Fastest rom in kaiser history!
Win 6.1 HTC update is a complete disaster!!!
OK. I downloaded and flushed today this new Win 6.1 HTC update:
RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40. 02_1.65.16.25
(I had previously an original HTC ROM)
But, unfortunately, it seams to be a complete disaster. Many programs are simply not working. iGO, for example, even doesn't start. The local language support doesn't work. The phone becomes slower then before, with an original HTC ROM.
After a couple of hours of fighting, I was forced to do something that I was afraid doing since I've bought this phone – flash a non standard XDA ROM.
After Hard-SPL, the first ROM that I tried was a Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700. And it worked OK, but just to try something else for comparison, I than flashed a L26 Kaiser Diamond Version 3 !!! (Core 19588)
And immidiatly got almost the same problems like with the new Win 6.1 HTC update ROM.
It seams to be that a L26 Kaiser Diamond Version 3 and new Win 6.1 HTC update ROM used the same ROM core. Please correct me if I am wrong.
So, after that I am back with the Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2, but I've just flushed the same radio version like one that I had with the HTC update: ver. 1.65.16.25
Now, everything works just perfect.

What do you mean by "lighter" version?
IMHO, the stock ROM is the quickest ROM out. However, not by much. The custom roms out there (MightyMike's, NRG's, and many, many others, are pretty quick). Now, this says a lot, especially when you consider these ROMS include content designed to run on other phones having more CPU power & MEMORY.
If you're looking for low battery consumption, I would stick to the Stock Rom and use power saving tweaks: reducing backlighting, setting updates, such as send/receive, etc., to manual, and other tweaks. Just search here & you will find tons. You can also search at ppcgeeks.com for power saving tweaks.
Personally, I have gone through about 6 different custom ROMS and they are mostly the same regarding speed and battery consumption. Since I juice my TP2 whenever it's available (car, home, office), I rarely have issues. I'm on Energy's latest Dusk, and it's amazing.
You just might want to experiment with the different ROMS out there and see which one you prefer.

I agree with NlogN. I have been toying with flashing a new ROM but I can't really find anything 'wrong' with the stock ROM. The only thing I think would be fun is to play with 6.5 and the new touchflo interface. Only thing holding me back is I don't know if you can use any of the ROM's for the Rhodium in landscape with the keyboard. That's the ROM I'm looking for but haven't seen. Do some youtube searches for 'TP2 ROM' or 'Touch Pro 2 ROM' and you'll find a bunch of videos that show Nrgz, MightyMike and Juicy. Check out the vid's and see what you think. Let us know what you decide!!
If you go with a ROM running WM6.5 and Sense 2.1, Landscape is fully functional. In fact, the MightyROM 12.6 is built off of the ROM extracted from the USCC TP2 with 6.5 and 2.1. It is not until you move to Manila 2.5 that landscape issues appear. Even WM 6.5.x works in landscape.
Thanks for the tip CeLIgUy!!! Now I think I'll give MightyROM a try. From experience, Verizon will take longer than usual to release their customized version of 6.5 and I'm tired of waiting. Now back to YouTube for a MightyROM review.....
Your welcome Sweena, and good luck!
Mighty Rom for sure.
I was running NRG's before, and I had 40mbs of ram OR LESS at all times. I couldn't run opera some times.
With Might I get 80 mb on his 6.5 version, 6.5.3 Starts at 100 mbs free I THINK ( dont hold me to it).
Sense 2.5 both of them.
Edit: I think NRG's Roms have a higher page pool, that eats up most of the ram, while Mightys dosent.
Mighty's is just as fast.
Another vote for the stock ROM. With a few cab tweaks, it's the fastest and most stable ROM I've run

What tweaks do you recommend?
One i have is HD TWEAK.
Second is HTCAddicts cleanRAM.
Anything else?
I found this on PPCGeeks. not sure how it works though. I still need to wait for my TP2 to arrive.

MightyROM sense 2.1 version 1206 screams, has no issues, can use portrait and landscape and has tons of support, not that you'll need it at all. Just read the first few posts for his ROM on PPCGeeks and you'll be fine. If you want to stay with the stock rom , the link above has a file that was built with multiple tweaks in it and is highly recommended. It contains most tweaks you would want for speed, memory, battery life, etc. I would recommend it if you want to stay on the stock ROM and if you want a very smooth, fast, stable 6.5 sense 2.1 ROM that is basically stock, go with Mighty's 1206 version. He also does have 3 project ROM's he's working on one with 2.5, one 6.5.X and one that merges both, but I think the 6.5.x is the most stable with landscape and MMS of the project ROMs. Have fun.
Just found this rom. Looks sweet.

I find I switch between Mighty's and Energy roms. I also find that they are faster, often times more reliable (few memory issues), and have more goodies than the stock rom. Plus they provide updated HTC changes, such has the facebook fixes and whatnot.
Argh... I was planning on using a cooked ROM, but I want to know if any of them have Office Mobile included. Document editting on the go is kind of necessary for me...

Office is available for free via Windows Marketplace. However, most custom ROMs do include it.

Alright cool. Thank you.
With that out of the way, what's the most stable custom-ROM out there?
If you go with anything that simply runs 6.5 with sense 2.1, you should find stability to be a non-issue. Once you move into the realm of more experimental stuff, like windows 6.5.x and/or manila 2.5 you may loose some stability. So just dig through the ROM's and just try different ones. I waited until I had a day off work before I did my first TP2 flash and tried about a dozen ROM's. XDA is really more of a GSM site, go to PPCGeeks.com for a more robust selection of CDMA ROM's.
