I tried the feature today but couldn't get it working exactly the way I want it to.
Basically I want a separate notification system for thread subscription and post quote / user mention; and I just want an email to be sent when I am mentioned or my post got quoted (not necessarily in the same thread I'm subscribed to), NOT everytime a post got posted in a thread I subscribed to (I just keep it to the Alert system).
What I got working was I got emails BOTH when a new post is posted in the thread I subscribed or my post got quoted in the thread I subscribed.

I tried to find a thread to which neither was subscribed.
Say something if you get an alert. Say something else if you get an e-mail.

I got alert from here, no e-mail. As expected.
What I don't understand is e-mail about someone posting in the Welcome to XDA 2021 thread. I wasn't mentioned or quoted. I did not get an alert about that post. But I got an e-mail.
The latest question is whether @osm0sis will get an alert about this post.

Success! I guess I just had to toggle the preference again.. Still kinda concerning that this was necessary of course!

That is why I chose this thread when I wanted to conduct an experiment involving mentions and quotes when neither I nor my victim is watching the thread.
I want to know the meaning of 【OP】after the member. Could someone tell me?

Hey everyone, whether this is a noob question or not, please remember that we were all here at one point. One thing that has been bugging me for a while is that I haven't seen a way to get a notification to view a reply when someone responds to my comment/thread. This gets annoying since I always have to check the thread again and again to see if someone wrote a reply. Is there a way I can see when someone replies, or writes on my thread like on facebook? Thanks

Nobody is paid to be on here and the Mods all have real lives as well. Give it time and if you don't hear anything after 24 hours then contact them again.
Um i know they arent paid to be on here. As i said i waited 12 hours before even posting hre. its not like i was being impatient. I was just asking here what the deal was. Is this not the Q&A section? Was i not supposed to ask my question here? Now its nearly been 24 hours and i still havent had a reply from any mod on here or via pm. Id think it was a simple question that any mod could answer not just that particular forums mods. And please dont mistake my low post count for being "new" Ive used forums for many years and know how they operate.
Hi guys, I installed CleanRom 7.0 on my HTC One X yesterday, and it has restarted by itself 2 times now, I know there was a bug with CleanROM 6.5 that if you had wireless activated, this COULD happen (not too often though), but with this new release (7.0) I didn't even have the wireless on and still the phone restarted.
Do you guys know what could be the problem?
Thanks
Ha, no seriously, do you guys keep posting this question as a joke?
Its been asked and answered so many times, I assume this has to be the case.
To be nice, just read the last page or so of posts on the CleanROM thread (which I always do anyway, whenever I install any new ROM), and you will find the answer.

To be completely honest, I could not find the exact same problem for my phone and the ROM that I am using in any forum, but if this has been asked and answered a lot of times, could you tell me the answer once again so I can fix this problem?
Thanks
How could you not find the answer? You literally can not go through any more than a few pages in the Cleanrom thread without finding this issue (and the fix) reported. Redpoint even told you exactly where to look in his post, in the time it took you to ask him for the answer again you could have found it yourself. One of the most important rules of XDA is to search before posting. This thread is yet another one to add to the ever growing, ridiculous stack of unnecessary threads which would have been avoided if the OP simply searched properly.

Read my previous response again. I think I edited it while you were typing your reply.
It will tell you exactly where to find your answer.

Don't know why you get so mad... as the other guy said in the post below, he EDITED his previous post while I was posting my reply, after I read his edit, I went and search for the problem, which I found it exactly where he told me, so now it seems that my phone is working again.
Anyway, thanks for you answers, I did manage to fix my phone with your replies...
I didn't get mad. The point was that you can't have searched very hard because as I said the answer is plastered all over every single Sense 5 ROM thread in this forum. Even without Redpoint's directions it should have been easy to find. The point is to do the searching before the posting, as I said it's part of the rules and is your responsibility as a member of XDA.

I agree with all timmaaa said. I was feeling charitable when telling the OP exactly where to find the answer. Really, it does no good for us lead folks by the nose to the answers that they could have easily found themselves.
There is a wealth of info for the taking on XDA, without folks having to ask the same questions over and over.
