hi,
i hope you understand what i mean.
my 750v doesnt show the typical popup message for reminding me on calendar items oder tasks.
how comes?
I'm having the same problem as well. I suspect it's one of the SPB software I have installed but not sure which one. Maybe I'll try uninstall Shell & Diary to see if either one is causing the problem.
What about you? Do you have SPB Shell and/or Diary installed?
i have diary installed and i need it.
Similar issue, no SPB software
I had a similar issue, and found that it was related to duplicate items on the notifications queue. There is a program floating around called "checknotifications" (search google) that'll tell you if that's your problem.

I've thought about that too. Unfortunately even deleting all the duplicate entries, I was still unable to solve the problem. I will try to uninstall SPB Diary & test for a few days to see.
didnt help
I'll take the risk... you did set the 'Display Message on Screen' option in Sounds and Notifications, for Reminders... right?
I hard reset my treo now the reminders are ok. Could be memmaid registry cleaner causing the issue. It gave me problems with Voice Command as well. So far stayed away from memmaid & sktools, or any registry hacking software seems to be alright.
no solution until now?
I had that issue and installed Today Agenda. It is free and is a kick ass program and works great. Never had that issue again.
you first had the problem and after installing it it was gone? or after hardresetting and installing it?
I experienced a similar problem.
reason was the file associations of .mid, which a media program changed.
Result was that my device did not wake up anymore to show messages and play the sound. Even vibration did not work any more.
Yes it sounds strange, but for me this was definitivly the reason because I can reproduce this error, when connecting .mid again with this program.
I had to "de-associate" the .mid and notifications and everthing worked again.
hope this helps

Can anyone help!!!! ...I can see attachments on my e-mails that have been downloaded to my XDA via my pc but when I try to open them the words "open as" appear but nothing happens when i click on this. I have tried to open excel, word and pdf documents but sadly failed, am I doing something so obviously wrong?
Hi
I have the same problem on an O2 XDA IIs, I suspect that a hard reset will cure it. I did try some 3rd party mail app which, I suspect failed to undo everything when I uninstalled it.
I have not found time for hard reset and re-install as yet
Nigel
Just to add to this. I did the hard reset and re-installed everything and low and behold attatchments can now be viewed. Looks like I tested some dodgy software that did not uninstall its self correctly.
Suggest you hard reset. But sync your contacts first cause it will wipe the device. You'll then have to re-install your apps.

There's been a few problems that some people have mentioned, but have either been lost among all the unlocking/upgrading questions or just not followed up for whatever reason. These are some of the issues I had with older versions of wm6 that I tried, which made me go to a wm5 3.3 to get rid of.
1) Auto-fill of names in messaging when typing in the "to" field doesn't happen
2) Windows Live messenger only connecting over GPRS even when wi-fi is enabled
3) I think it's what it's supposed to do, but it's annoying - is there a way to stop Windows Live adding all your contacts to your phone? I don't use my Wizard for e-mails or anything very often, so this is pretty useless, and just fills up my contacts list and then it takes longer to find the people I want to call
4) In the messaging application, the left softkey in wm6 is used for Delete, and to create a new message you have to go into the menu and then select New, whereas wm5 just had New on the left softkey (I'd rather not use 3rd party software to do this, if there is any that can!)
Can't think of any more right now, but feel free to add your own!
Anyone who's got Faria's new wm6 ROM, could you please comment on whether you have encountered any of these issues or if anything has been changed in relation to these?
Thanks,
Myk

Can't speak for much, but from the websites I've seen detailing WM6, #4 is actually a code change to the Messaging app. MS' research indicated more people wanted a Delete button than a New button and they made the switch. I don't know if it's something that can be changed through the registry or not, but it is native to WM6.

When you setup Widnows Live, uncheck the option to import contacts and it doesn't import them. At least thats what works for me.
If it is already configured, open windows live and go into options. choose sync options and uncheck contacts and messenger.

it is the way M$ designed it...they claim it helps battery life...it could not possibly be to make more money off of people by making them use GPRS
I turn off my phone sometime to make it connect via WiFi but faria said in his aku 3.3 ROM he pacaged it so it did not do it...I am trying to find out how to take windows live out of there and install it on WM6?!? but i don't know how I would go about that so if anyone could help please let me know...thanks for reading
Windows Live
Cancelling the GPRS connection before it's complete makes Windows Live switch to Wi-fi anyway, so I don't get why it even tries GPRS first and doesn't just go off wi-fi. Maybe there's a setting somewhere, like when you boot your PC and it goes through the various boot-up devices in order until it finds one that works.
Anyway, my problem with Live contacts being added to the phone contacts... I tried signing in to Windows Live, and going in the options and de-selecting "Synch contacts" as suggested. The problem is, when I try and sign in to Live Messenger, it comes up with a dialog box saying "signing in will add your contacts to your phone" or something, which is exactly the same as before.
Messenger is the only bit of Live (apart from e-mail, I guess) which I'm actually interested in at the minute, but I can't use it because I don't want all the contacts from my messenger account in my phonebook!

Hey guys,
during syncing I get the following message on a non-existent item (it neither exists in outlook nor on the mobile device, i have a xda orbit 2/polaris):
----------------------
The following appointments failed to synchronize from the device:
1. Subject: ...
Time: 31.12.1999 00:00
Duration: 1440 minutes
support code: 1
----------------------
I remember that I had such an item and I deleted it some time ago. But the error still remains.
Is there a possibility to display deleted entries or maybe are there some hidden entries that are not visible in the calendar view on the phone?
Does anyone got this error solved?
Best
Warlock
Got it solved.
The problem was probably due to the synchronization with Microsoft Outlook and also with another computer running Lotus' mnotes software.
There were some special items that were only visible in the "All Calendars" view in Lotus Notes but neither on the phone nor in Outlook. After I had deleted all items (in Notes) and synced again it works now.

I am having this same problem but I don't use lotus notes.
I am still trying to figure out how to delete the "ghost" appointment.
I have the same problem, but I don't use lotus...
Can anyone help me to find a fix for this?
Before, I only have 4 problems, I fixed it by recreating the 4 contacts info... but now there are more than 100 after I format my PC.
I also do not use lotus.
Anyone manage to solve this?
Same problem no solution
I have the same problem for this ghost appointments. I have tired seeing all appointments in outlook. I have one appointment which I deleted but without success. I ahve tried other solutions but also no success. these solutions included changing the time in the pocket PC. Installing other ROMs did not solve the problem also.
Problem Solved
I ve solved this problem on my Touch Pro
I used SKtools to check my recurrent appointments. Then it has shown the ghost appointment which where previously not seen in microsoft outlook. I deleted the unwanted appiontments. The synchronized and the notification is gone.
I hope this is helpful for other people
Thanks
You're Right
This is been annoying me since I got my new Touch Pro a few weeks ago. All appointments synced fine except for 1 invisible appointment that would leave the WMDC icon with an error every time.
SKTools did the trick, search for recurring appointments and see if the bad one is listed there, open it up and delete all occurrences.
Thanks!
It worked!
You are my hero! I've been trying to solve this problem for some time with the ghost, non-existant appointment invisible on both the PC and the Phone. This worked! SKTools was rather confusing to navigate, but it worked, and that's the important thing. Thank you for posting this!

Now ghost appointments are gone. SKTools did good job.
Thanks a lot!
SKTools is the best! Removed my ghost recurring appointments!
Same Problem
I've got a touch pro(fuze). I've tried using SKTools but I haven't been able to locate the ghost appointment. Perhaps I'm just not using it correctly. For those who fixed the problem could you post exactly how you found the ghost appointment?
Installed SKtools on an HTC TP2 for my problem, ghost appointment in phone and error after sync.
SKtools>>Category>>PIM>>Recurring Appt....opens with a top pane list of recurring appts, this should match the list you have on your pc. Mine did not, it had two ghost appts that should've been deleted. Highlight the problem then choose "Action" to obtain a menu to delete it.
The category "PIM" will open first next time you use SKtools. Standard category was initially the one that was set to open on my install. Probably can pick whatever cat you want to open as default.
Finally!
Wow, I really feel stupid now. I was using SKTools correctly, using the same method you described. But since I'm using the Demo version it only shows 6 items at a time in any category view.....so I deleted a few unimportant appts and there it was. Thanks for the help wakemaker, you reaffirmed the method and forced me to try it one more time. I can finally see that little check instead of the x on active sync, good times.
I'm using demo as well.
I, too, was having this problem with my Tilt2.
(WinXP + Office2007)
I solved it by:
1) performing a normal Sync using the Microsoft MyPhone app.
2) login into myphone.microsoft.com and open the Calendar
3) change the view from "Month" or "Day" to "List."
4) I found and removed the offending entries that activesync flagged
5) used the MyPhone app. to sync the changes made on the website back to my phone
6) after the MyPhone sync completed, I then plugged in the USB cable and performed a normal ActiveSync.
7) problem solved.

Worked like a charm...thank you!
Hope I'm posting the right forum -I didn't see any trouble-shooting here.
This is darn strange. There are several possible causes.
After some research in these forums, I recently edited the registry and loaded some cool stuff for my T-mobile Wing: S2U2, Homescreen PlusPlus, Icontact, Nitrogen (media player), .netCF 3.5, a few games, and such. But no ROM flashes or what I would consider major hacks...
In the process, I got SCREWED the first time I used activesync (ERASED all contacts + appointments on my phone without asking). Apparently this is the default for activesync. Wow -that's a whole other thread.
Fortunately, I had backed up my contacts to the SIM, so I manually restored them.
Eventually I go resetting ringtones for my contacts (a mix of .mid's and .mp3's), and while shuffling through them, midi's just stop playing. The files are still shown, but no sound when you select them...? (mp3's still work fine)
Now here's the fun part --I can *still* play .mid files in Windows Media Player...
ANY clues here?
I know on my PC, there is a separate volume control for midi... Is there a way to check the midi drivers in Windows?

Looks like several others have had this problem.
Looking deeper into the forums I found this link to add midi support for BA wm6...

Tried out the cab file on my phone -no help...

Tmobile Wing
Windows Mobile 6.0
Fixed
Strange fix for me...
After looking at *elementary* kind of intructions for "how do you set up ringtones on your storage card," I tried going through these one more time...
I navigated to storagecard/mydocuments/myringtones and held the pointer on a .mid file for 3 seconds -the menu comes up all in English except for where it should say "set as ringtone" it says something in a foreign language (German I think -hard to tell with abbreviations)... I click that option, and it returns (in english) with the result that the .mid file was set as my ringtone.
I exit file explorer and go to settings/phone to see if the ringtone is set. The .mid file is indeed set, and when I click play -IT PLAYED...
So then I tried setting .mid ringtones for individual contacts, and all was back to normal... Everything works again...
Conclusion: it must have been something I installed, vice a registry edit which caused the temporary loss of midi ringtones...
Found the cause
After a Hard Reset (due to other problems) I replicated the loss of midi ringtones...
The culprit was Icontact -if you install while there are already outlook contacts on your phone (seems fine to have contacts on SIM card). Not sure why this interrupts midi ringtone functionality...
Correct install order should go:
1 Backup contacts (I used PPCPIMBackup --works great)
2 Delete all contacts (hard reset did this for me)
3 Install Icontact
4 Restore contacts
5 Midi ringtones should still work
6 Side note --it looks like Icontact takes care of the problem with SIM contacts and outlook contacts being displayed together in outlook, so no need to do the registry edit ordinarily used to solve that problem...

Win Mobile 6.0
Hi all,
I have searched for this application for a long time and tried whole bunch of them, but I am still looking for SOLID, SIMPLE, and STRAIGHTFORWARD application to save Call log entries into Outlook Journal.
My setup:
Windows 7 32-bit
Outlook 2007 SP2
HD2 with latest T-Mo ROM and Cookie Home Tab installed.
Applications I tried:
Maniac's SmartJournal - so far the best solution and worked flawlessly on the XP. Since I switched to Windows 7 it shows that the SmartJournal reads from the device, the notification disappears and nothing happens. Maniac's website is down, so I cannot find out what is going on.
Pocket Informant Outlook Extension - since it is now free as Informant stopped supporting Windows Mobile, I tried it, it seems that it works and does some synchronizing according to the log, but no entry shows up the Journal.
Jeyo Outlook Extension - they used to support Outlook Journal in their version for Symbian, but in their Windows Mobile they only synchronize SMS.
MobiTNT - I tried that software as well, but I am not able to enable the software on the computer.
I know that there is also some app for syncing call log into calendar but it seems way too akward.
I know that there are many threads about this all over the Xda, but they seem to be old for one and do not end up with comprehensive solution afterall.
I would like to this post to become comprehensive and one stop solution for somebody who is looking for the solution like me.
Any ideas are welcome.
Nobody? Really? Really?
I Feel your pain
I used to use Calls to Journal from Chapura with my windows handheld. Strangely it is now discontinued.
It was slick, and perfect. Dumped all calls to Outlook journal and tagged the outlook contacts (so that they showed up in activites). Was perfect in my business when someone denied that you called them.
I can't find anything that compares. Not even close. The other ones like "missing sync" try to do too much and do not include this very simple functionality.
Have you had any luck?
Well, I finally managed to make the Maniac's Smartjournal work and it works great. It transfers the calls into Journal and tags for the known Contacts so it shows in Activities.
If you would like to try it, I have the .exe files since the website is no longer active. The files are really small and the program is no memory hog by any means. I tried Jeyo and it just crashes Outlook.
Let me know.
Another one
I wish i could be more helpful but there is one applicatoin which i have used in the past but have since forgotten the name whichvery simply adds an appointment into outlook which lasts for the duration of the call, with the title of whoever the conversation was with.
this might be the one i was thinking of. I'm gonna check it now.

post the files please & details you have on them & any special instructions on getting it working.
One of the biggest mistakes MS made was not having WM & its PC software linking together with complete harmony & user control.
Really are a clueless bunch at redmond HQ ...
I am attaching the rar file. There are two files. One is SmartJournal.exe and the other is SmartJournal Beta.exe Try first the SmartJournal.exe run as admin and compatibility with XP SP2. Sometimes it shows the error that the CallLog.csv cannot be dumped. If that is the case, uninstall the SmartJournal and install the Beta (again as administrator and compatibility mode XP SP2). Maniac had a great forum unfortunatelly that website is no longer active.
Let me know if you have any trouble.
Take 2
I just realised my previous post was totally useless since I never included the link. I've been using Call Calendar for the past few days which works really well, recording the time, duration, who the call was with and who called who silently into outlook, which will then obviously sync over activesync or exchange. you can get it here:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-call-calendar.html
then again while searching for that link i found this program, Phonelog- it's newer and seems to have additional features like recording incoming SMS. I think you can customise what is recorded too, it might be worth a shot:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-phonelog.html
I've never used Outlook journal, so I don't know how much functionality you lose as a result of these being purely appointments. Hope it oculd be useful though.
Thanks for the post and link. I prefere not to use the calendar for syncing, because than the entries eat up the screen when I view my calendar appointments. Also, I always felt siunce the Journal has a Phone log category it is more obvious to use it rather than calendar. Also, I make LOT of calls on given days and then my calendar looks like mess between the actual appointments and the phone call. Also, I checked the review section on freeware.com and lot of people complain about the SMS not working (which would be the only feature why I would consider this software). But great addition to the post and thanks for the links.
Karel
You can try MobileArchiver (mobilearchiving.com) - for me works perfectly and puts all call history in journal every sync.

If the call history is full, I mean 300 items, there is a great chance that the PC app tries to read the calllogdump.csv on the pda while it is already accessed by the pda (it is written) and therefore paralell reading fails.
Solution: backup call log, and after that, delete some 50-100 entries manually. Sync works then nicely...

Another possible solution is to run Smartjournal.exe on pc, it copies the dump exe to Device\Temp, and runs, and this creates the csv. Navigate to this folder (My Device\Temp) and make the csv read only.
Running the pc side returns an error on the PDA, but the log will be read and data transferred.
Now remove read only from csv, move to pc, leave only the last entry, delete all the rest, save, move back to PDA.
Run pc side, all should be good now. You will have a lastsync.txt created in the PC folder of Smartsync. Sync finished.
Update:
