Is there any chance that the rom being cooked up in the Hermes forum could be used on a wizard? It looks like its going to turn into a kick arse rom and i would love to use it when its release. The hermes and wizard are pretty similar phones in terms of design, so i hope it might work. Any ideas?

That sounds like a good Idea.
I dont know enough about cooking to take it on myself, although I am going to attempt taking orwells1984 to the same state, either that or work on Underground.
I like the Idea of updating orwells1984 as it's already a clean ROM, Underground already has quite a bit of stuff moved to the extended ROM.

Doubtful. The devices are very different from what I have been reading (my Hermes arrives tomorrow.) I think that if you are successful in getting it to flash or start the flash process it would brick your Wizard. There are several flavors of WM6 roms for the Wizard in active discussions here however. I would suggest trying one of them out. A couple of them have very good reviews from users here.
Of course the standard warning applies: Your carrier most likely will NEVER release a WM6 ROM for the Wizard, use at your own risk, there WILL BE things that won't work in WM6 that work fine on WM5, at least until the developers update their software to run on WM6.
Maybe FARIA/MOLSKI are already working on this?
I mean I have my Wizards set up with different flavors of ROMS and are good and dandy but I would not mind a COOKED WM6 ROM from the cookers here.

I thought the cookers here did release a WM6 rom, maybe they talked about it and didn't because of MS. Didn't the PDAVIET rom use some stuff without permission from Faria? Was that from his WM6 rom or from the WM5 w/crossbow rom?

That would be AWESOME! I'm loving the Faria 3.3 ROM right now, but would love to give WM6 a spin, espeicially if its a solid foundation as the XDA Live on Hermes ROM sounds like it is (from reading the thread). The Wizard community will owe some beers to you (and all the chefs behind it).

as i said ive ported tytn's wm6 rom to wizard (not full rom coz of some problems with memory area, but most part of it). It works great. Ive also changed pp and move some modules in other places so you can see that i have available ~ 52 Mb RAM for use

That's the same day to day radio that I use as well. I love it. I can't make an educated decision at this stand point until I do some more testing tomorrow. I will let you know though!

@ATW, I was thinking about flashing a radio, what radio would your recommend. Does it matter if i'm using Hardspl? Cause i read somewhere that you can use jumpspl to flash a radio...if you wanted to brick your device. How does it become a brick? Does the radio somewho change the chemical composition of the device? Can it still make phone calls?
Nice effort, thanks, however on my tytn II call quality is much better with 1.65.24.26.
With this radio I experience echoed voice, perceived call quality is much worse.
Battery life is as good as .24.36.

Hmm,why would radio build for other device (although same chipsets) may beat specific build for the device itself? And why are there so many radios for niki (and neon - its cousin) out there? And why almost all (don't know exactly) perform very well in our device?
You've got to try out 1.65.28.25. I haven't tried this one yet, but .28.25 has been awesome for me. ATW, can you add it to your poll?
HOLY CRAP GPS IS FAST AGAIN!!!
30 second lock from soft reset!!!!! I haven't seen that since moving to 6.1! It's been over 1 minute on every radio I've tried, so this is awesome! In fact, I'd gotten so used to it NOT locking, that it was several days before I even tried!
Battery life has been ok, not noticeable to me - I listen to about 3 hours of podcast streaming to BT and have exchange running as well as GMAIL IMAP every 10 minutes... BT has been ok as well.

I have used it a couple days now and 1.70.18.02 was my favorite before tryig this one but I am getting amazing battery life on this radio here in Los Angeles. Maybe you and Scott aren't seeing it cause you guys dont live close to civilization.

Agreed! I should, but won't, grow a pair when it comes to guinea-pigging my phone. It's too much of a hassle and I rely on it too much for as much down time as I'd have replacing it.
But, again, please post your findings once you've checked it out.

First Impressions
We'll this is in my book rather snappy compared to previous 6.5 roms with titanium, however still very slow compared to M2D. I also noticed that there was no traditional loading like every other rom I have tried. I love new things and this is definitely a step in the right direction so great job but Im hoping we can find a way to make this fast enough to be a rom I can use on a long term basis.
Is this something to do with Titanium? Seems much faster when this is disabled.

Ditto to all of this... and let me say that OTA is working with Active Sync!!! (applause) And the speed is not bad at all pretty snappy in fact, Titanium not very but not bad either. One other thing this does have the camera bug I'm trying a couple of things to try and fix.

Aye, while charging the LED is orange. When fully charged it turns green.

Aye, thats what made me try this rom, which i never really heard about before.
I'm quite depend a lot on being able to use a BT headset.
So it was glory days for me when i managed to make it work.

Im using a phone from Denmark.
Not rogers but plain unbranded 32A, is equivalent to the rogers (i think).
So yes, this should work on rogers.

I've just flashed this rom recently (went from 1.6), and did not have much time to find out, how to opimize it. But I would be glad, if you share the link on how to.

I had the same thought because most of the froyo roms I flashed have been unstable. I'm hoping somebody can port this over to the g1 without all the buggs.

It doesn't make sense that they'd release an ota froyo for the original mytouch but not the g1.
I feel like google needs to "parent" all the carriers if they want android to turn into what it should be.
I mean, look at the whole samsung galaxy S/K ordeal. makes no sense

idk for sure
afaik it does make sense because the mytouch 32a has 192 mb of space. the g1 32b has half the storage. thats why g1 won't get a 2.2 update. but i suppose it would be easier to port it..
really not sure about the numbers. i only think to remember them very little

Yeah. Google needs to take a page from Windows Phone 7 and set a minimum hardware requirement and push updates over desktop software like the Zune software and bypass the carrier bull crap.

I can confirm Tomorrow - October 25th.
Now besides the fact of Root Developers working on this, can G1 users Flash this as a OTA Update.
Looks like Ill be slapping the Stock fender rom back on for this week to see if it comes through. Luckily with the Mytouch 1.2/fenders you dont have to change SPL and radio so all should be fine.
Its about damn time lol.

Same here, but T-Mobile themselves said they were going to release the update for the 1.2/Fender and the MyTouch Slide at a "Later Date". They are focusing on the original MyTouch right now (which is BS, i think they should do the 1.2 first ).

I'm new to this but here we go This is a port of the Desire HD Miui rom 1.7.15 with english patch. I'm using parts of superkids excellent Cyanogen rom to fix the hardware issues. It's a work in progress so don't get upset if things don't work.
So far from my testing these things work (your mileage may vary):
Camera (face camera not quite yet but main camera works nicely)
WIFI
GPS
Phone
Audio
Volume Keys
etc.
Not working:
Bluetooth
Sim contacts
Video playback
probably other stuff too
Installation instructions
Full wipe, install from recovery and then flash the excellent Unity V2 kernel from here. If overclocking is your thing, I use setcpu set to 245760 min, 1209600 max with smartass scaling.
The default kernel included won't enable WIFI so if you want it, flash the Unity kernel.
Try it out and see what you think. I'll try to look at fixing things as and when i get to them but bluetooth isn't going to be high on my priority list as I don't use it (but you're welcome to pull the rom apart and give it a whirl yourself!) I don't have a lot of time so if you want to try fixing things, please do as we'll all benefit

wifi can be worked if using MDJ V2 kernel
How about battery cost?
Can the phone sleep correctly?
Now all the MIUI roms have a battery drain because the phone sleeps incorrectly.
Is camera quailty good?

No probs. Wifi not working is a ROM issue, I have that kernel flashed to my own custom ROM, wifi is fine.
Looking forward to seeing more MIUI development ... and some screenshots too

Thanks for letting us know. I was concerned that you might try this one and be unhappy with it. On a more serious note, this kind of post does not help anyone! Did you even download this rom to try it or are you just informing us that you won't be happy until a 100% working Miui rom falls into your lap. We'd all love a perfectly working Miui rom but it won't happen overnight!
You're in a development forum, by it's very nature, you're not going to ever see many 100% working roms, hence the development in the forum name.

you need to understand that the devs are doing this in their free time & are not asking for anything in return other than a little support
so if you have a negative comment why do you want to post it & discourage them??it isnt always easy finding the bugs & correcting them

I find it great that there is a seperate thread for miui development now. Due to the fact that all the other miui roms are developed on extern sites.
I hope that more developers will start helping here.
I am not sure but why aren't working let's say miui-developers together to make a more stable, faster, and more complete rom. I meen we are a community here. Nobody has to fight against the others.
I've seen it for a long time in the HTC Hero forums, that developers try to beat each other instead of working together to make something great.
Like i can see here it's the same, yes sure it's difficult that someone works together with the chinese developers but it would be possilbe to work together with the guy from the english miui forum, who made a great version too?
After that it would be possilbe to ask some devs from other roms for help. i am sure no one will say oh no i fight this rom-war on my own. stop asking for help.
In fact the main idea of forums was the easy way to exchange information between persons from different countries, even with different languages. So they can work together and so they will be able to make better things. Like you can see it over at stackoverflow, someone has a question the other will help him.
why so much devs forget this fact?

If i had more time and some idea of cooking roms i would help you, but i think with my java knowledge i can't help that much.

If anyone wants a detailed process of how to go about porting one rom from another I'd be happy to post it in here so more people can get on board and experimenting. My android hacking experience isn't great but I'm learning as I go (I have many years of linux experience which helps immensely). superkids work on the cyanogenmod rom is the reason I was able to bring a somewhat working Miui rom to the forum so big slaps on the back to him
I'll keep nibbling away at the issues and see what I can do but if anyone else wants to get involved, I'd be overjoyed. The more the merrier
Also, I've been in touch with superkid and he's happy with elements of his cyanogenmod rom being used to make Miui work. I've also been in contact with fusingblackrose on the Miuiandroid forums and his rom was my first port of call when starting off on this port so it's all good
I'm on this rom since yesterday night, what I can say for now is that it's a lil' bit slower than the 7.1.8 from fengbao wich I used for about a week.
I did not test the GPS yet, but there is an improvement in compatibility since the last release : the softkeys are now backlighted correctly.
I think all the issues we have are only about drivers, I am totally new at Android (only since AlpharevX release for Desire S) but as I'm intereested on it, I already know a lot about it, made tweaks and tested many roms, learned about the way it works in the inside.
I'd really appreciate you to post the process you are talking about, I still don't know how to edit roms, compile it and package it for a flash from recovery.

- the WiFi works only if you install the UNITY v2 Kernel
- the sound works, but it has some problem... all the sounds (speaker, headphone, in call sound) are not clear, are a little bit distorted..
