That's the same day to day radio that I use as well. I love it. I can't make an educated decision at this stand point until I do some more testing tomorrow. I will let you know though!

@ATW, I was thinking about flashing a radio, what radio would your recommend. Does it matter if i'm using Hardspl? Cause i read somewhere that you can use jumpspl to flash a radio...if you wanted to brick your device. How does it become a brick? Does the radio somewho change the chemical composition of the device? Can it still make phone calls?
Nice effort, thanks, however on my tytn II call quality is much better with 1.65.24.26.
With this radio I experience echoed voice, perceived call quality is much worse.
Battery life is as good as .24.36.

Hmm,why would radio build for other device (although same chipsets) may beat specific build for the device itself? And why are there so many radios for niki (and neon - its cousin) out there? And why almost all (don't know exactly) perform very well in our device?
You've got to try out 1.65.28.25. I haven't tried this one yet, but .28.25 has been awesome for me. ATW, can you add it to your poll?
HOLY CRAP GPS IS FAST AGAIN!!!
30 second lock from soft reset!!!!! I haven't seen that since moving to 6.1! It's been over 1 minute on every radio I've tried, so this is awesome! In fact, I'd gotten so used to it NOT locking, that it was several days before I even tried!
Battery life has been ok, not noticeable to me - I listen to about 3 hours of podcast streaming to BT and have exchange running as well as GMAIL IMAP every 10 minutes... BT has been ok as well.

I gave this radio a go for a day. Nothing special for me in my day to day use. Still 1.70.18.02 works best for me.

I have used it a couple days now and 1.70.18.02 was my favorite before tryig this one but I am getting amazing battery life on this radio here in Los Angeles. Maybe you and Scott aren't seeing it cause you guys dont live close to civilization.

Is there any chance that the rom being cooked up in the Hermes forum could be used on a wizard? It looks like its going to turn into a kick arse rom and i would love to use it when its release. The hermes and wizard are pretty similar phones in terms of design, so i hope it might work. Any ideas?

I dont know enough about cooking to take it on myself, although I am going to attempt taking orwells1984 to the same state, either that or work on Underground.
I like the Idea of updating orwells1984 as it's already a clean ROM, Underground already has quite a bit of stuff moved to the extended ROM.

Doubtful. The devices are very different from what I have been reading (my Hermes arrives tomorrow.) I think that if you are successful in getting it to flash or start the flash process it would brick your Wizard. There are several flavors of WM6 roms for the Wizard in active discussions here however. I would suggest trying one of them out. A couple of them have very good reviews from users here.
Of course the standard warning applies: Your carrier most likely will NEVER release a WM6 ROM for the Wizard, use at your own risk, there WILL BE things that won't work in WM6 that work fine on WM5, at least until the developers update their software to run on WM6.
Maybe FARIA/MOLSKI are already working on this?
I mean I have my Wizards set up with different flavors of ROMS and are good and dandy but I would not mind a COOKED WM6 ROM from the cookers here.

I thought the cookers here did release a WM6 rom, maybe they talked about it and didn't because of MS. Didn't the PDAVIET rom use some stuff without permission from Faria? Was that from his WM6 rom or from the WM5 w/crossbow rom?

That would be AWESOME! I'm loving the Faria 3.3 ROM right now, but would love to give WM6 a spin, espeicially if its a solid foundation as the XDA Live on Hermes ROM sounds like it is (from reading the thread). The Wizard community will owe some beers to you (and all the chefs behind it).

as i said ive ported tytn's wm6 rom to wizard (not full rom coz of some problems with memory area, but most part of it). It works great. Ive also changed pp and move some modules in other places so you can see that i have available ~ 52 Mb RAM for use

Agreed! I should, but won't, grow a pair when it comes to guinea-pigging my phone. It's too much of a hassle and I rely on it too much for as much down time as I'd have replacing it.
But, again, please post your findings once you've checked it out.

You can count on me, I'll post my findings, but know that it's purely my opinion and not the final word on things. Flashing as we speak.
First Impressions
We'll this is in my book rather snappy compared to previous 6.5 roms with titanium, however still very slow compared to M2D. I also noticed that there was no traditional loading like every other rom I have tried. I love new things and this is definitely a step in the right direction so great job but Im hoping we can find a way to make this fast enough to be a rom I can use on a long term basis.
Is this something to do with Titanium? Seems much faster when this is disabled.

Ditto to all of this... and let me say that OTA is working with Active Sync!!! (applause) And the speed is not bad at all pretty snappy in fact, Titanium not very but not bad either. One other thing this does have the camera bug I'm trying a couple of things to try and fix.

This rom is strictly a 32A capable rom.

Aye, while charging the LED is orange. When fully charged it turns green.

Aye, thats what made me try this rom, which i never really heard about before.
I'm quite depend a lot on being able to use a BT headset.
So it was glory days for me when i managed to make it work.
Will bring more details tonight when i get back from work.

Im using a phone from Denmark.
Not rogers but plain unbranded 32A, is equivalent to the rogers (i think).
So yes, this should work on rogers.

As far as I know there is only one radio out for the CDMA Hero. Also you can very easily brick your phone messing with/flashing the radio.

Translation... I don't believe you, I know better, and I'm going to flash it anyway just to have a higher version number. Then I'll come here and complain about how it's everyone's fault but mine that my phone no longer works.

What do people not understand about there only being one radio for the CDMA devices?

they all think: "if its good, it can always get better" but in this case, better must equal an unresponsive phone

I am rooted...
and have MoDaCo 1.3...
All is working fine..
And I have seen other ROMs and Upgrades...
But frankly...
I am hesitant to try to do anything else...
If it aint broken... dont fix it
I would like Google Navigation to work.... but that requires that I try the 2.1 unofficial upgrade... which seams... to be pushing it...
So.. I am sitting tight and wait for the Official HTC 2.1 release for our CDMA Hero.
Hope it will be here in Feb!!!!
None of which has anything at all to do with the radio in the phone.

Um, Google Navigation requires Android 1.6 or higher. Within the CMDA spectrum of the Hero dev community, there is ASOP 1.6, AOSP 2.0, AOSP 2.0.1 & CMDA Eclair 2.1 v1.8-7, all of which will run Google Navigation. But really these ROMs are not for the common man...

haha first, well actually I was I hope you enjoy it, its a major improvement and step forward from what we have so far, if you happen to get any lock up on boot just battery pull and power back on it'll go through, worse case scenario fix permissions in recovery then boot if it gives you any problems. boots right up for me though, a few minute delay but it goes.
I'll check back in 30 minutes or so, I been neglecting my call of duty, zombie killing duties the past few days, time to play
ive been sitting here playing with this for a little bit now and im lovin it. hope to see some other devs dive into this and make it as functional as possible. nice job so far on this TDJ512
Thanks, I just wanna see it done, I'm not doing it for the thrill of credit, I'm doing it because I'm aggravated Samsung devices are booting HTC ROM's that we can't even get on our device. Its total BS that the Epic got a booting Sense 4.0 ROM before us.
I have an idea to get the sd card to mount & wifi to work, I'll let you guys know in an hour or so.
Thank you so so much TDJ512!! I understand the whole Samsung booting before us. Trust me I was ticked off from that too.. I think a good reason they got it before us is that they have a whole lot more devs then us... We've lost a lot of devs to the new HTC One series and the HTC Evo 4G LTE.. Can't speak much for myself.. I'm getting a LG Spectrum.. I'll keep my Evo Shift just to mess around with great Roms such as this.. Again I thank you and hope you have a great day!!
I doubt I'm going anywhere for at least a year. I bought my Shift out of contract and hooked it up straight to CricKet, $55 a month and can do everything Sprint can do. Only way I'm moving on is if I break it or lose it.

Glad I can help if nobody else jumps in to help hopefully I have what it takes to get us all the way home with this project but I'm definitely encountering obstacles to get the remaining issues fixed but I'm gonna keep plugging away at it, trying, until we got a full sense 4.0 experience.
You're a rock star TDJ512! Looking forward to the SD Card and WiFi fixes. I was under the impression that Sense 4 multitasking was a horizontal list of cards (kind of at an angle). Is that on the horizon?

lol I didn't think anybody would get that.
Haha funny how I never cared for sense roms, but really digging sense 4. My main issue with other sense roms was how much ram the used up, and sense 4 seems to use a whole lot let lol
