try this;
open the pic you want to set as a wallpaper in Picture viewer, then set the transparency level to '0'.

You said open in Picture viewer but isn't it a layer from your Today screen?

is it only the wallpaper that looks foggy or is it always foggy on the screen when u are on other programs?

No Wallpaper?

How do you get NO wallpaper? I'd just like plain black - no - not a plain black image - no wallpaper at all. is this possible?
I don't know about none, but you can always just take a picture that happens to have black in it and use the crop tool to choose a very small section of a few pixels that only contain black. That way you have only black as your wallpaper
What is the diffrence between a plain black image and no background thats black...
take a pic while covering the lens then make that yer back its all black booya

A plain black image is the same as a plain black background an all black image would turn the unused pixels off which would achieve the same result you're looking for.

[Q] What's a good wallpaper size?

I mean I know the resolution is 1280x800, but as you swipe between the homescreens the wallpaper moves in the background.
That suggests to me that its wider than 1280 pixels to fit over all screens.
So what would be a good resolution?
(I can start looking for pictures now, whilst i wait for the device )
The default_wallpaper.jpg file showing the tree and clouds is 2135 x 1408 pixels.

Thanks, but does that mean it is being squeezed horizontally? Or do it crop it?
Now it suddenly sounds confusing.
I'd assume it should be the same as the default one 2135x1408 as it has to be for both landscape and portrait, as well as scrolling side to side.

Ah yes, good point - it has to work in both modes - it just makes it harder for the end user to get the focus of the picture in picture so to speak.
Oh well, I guess its a minor problem
Is it just me or when I try and take a picture from my Gallery and use it as a Wallpaper no matter how big I make the crop box it still kind of zooms in when its set as the wallpaper?
Also when you go to change the wallpaper you have a Wallpaper section but how do you put new wallpapers into this section as it doesn't come up when connected to the pc?
Depending on how its implemented...i would say its a 2:1 ration that being x:y respectively. so w/e that is with the stock res would be what u want. ... 1600x1200?
You could just do the largest of the screen res for both x and y. 1280 x 1280 would cover the background in either landscape or portrait.

But you also want to scroll between your homescreens. And a 1280x1280 resolution would not make this any beautiful experience
if the app wallpaper set and save works then use that and take a native resolution wallpaper (same as stock). I use this app on my galaxy s and sets the picture perfectly where as the galaxy s makes a right hash of it
I have a picture where I want to show most of the picture as the bit I want to show on the homesecreen is in the middle right of the picture, but no matter how I crop it always zooms in too much and cuts off half the detail I want. I was thinking of adding some black bars to the top and bottom of the pic, as hopefully it would zoom out a bit then and the only time you'd see the black bars is when the wallpaper scrolls 'up' like when you press and hold the desktop to get to the widget menu.

If that works, perhaps you could make a short of template of that and share it with us
Sometimes wallpapers differ on each device due to screen Resolution
So i would suggest that you find your devices resolution by taking a Screenshot and checking the Screenshot.png dimensions
Suppose its 720x1280 , now multiply the width x 3 (depending on number of homescreens) , the new dimensions are2160x1280
So now you can have an idea of what size of wallpaper you should be looking for, for being precise you can calculate the ratio also .

Black bar on the bottom wallpaper? Here's a easy fix

I recently purchased a Moto X and instantly fell in love with all the phone had to offer. I like to change the wallpaper around and found that when i download a wallpaper and set it, the black bar appears on the bottom of the phone, making the phone's screen appear smaller.
I went to gallery and on the set to wallpaper, I pinched to zoom in just a tad, set, and long behold the blackbar was gone. I was running apex launcher. The tip is pretty simple but i'm sure there are users out there that have no idea.
If this helped you feel free to send a thanks over! :good:

Hi, I'm having this problem. But pinching doesn't seems to work, or maybe I don't know how you did it, could you please explain a little more?
PS. Sorry, english is not my first language
What's the image size of the wallpaper?
Today I Found that if you Download the wallpaper or image size of 1080x1920 There would be no need to pinch to zoom, you just set the wallpaper from gallery with the size of 1080x1920
Here are steps:
1. Download wallpaper/Image (size 1080x1920 )
2. Open gallery and find your downloaded image
3. Click settings button, click "set picture as"
4. Click set wallpaper. (If your size isn't 1080x1920, then you will have to zoom in until the blackbar is gone )
The web site that i use for most my wallpapers is interfacelift. Size is 1080x1920,
Let me know if this helped you out.
Also just cropping it with photos instead of gallery works
Image 2 Wallpaper app in the play store works great for all picture sizes....it's free.

Actually any 720x1280 image will work, notice that i did not say 1280x720.
the minimum height of the image should be 1280 and width of 720 or more, the important thing to make the black bar disappear is to beminimum height of 1280
We are used to seeing images of the shape of our monitors, 720 high and 1280 long

Wallpaper difference on lock screen and home screen

Hey everyone. I'm using a materials wallpaper on my note 5 and I noticed the color of the wallpaper seems to be lighter on the lockscreen but when I unlocked the phone, the colors become more rich and vibrant. For example. the darker sections will be a dull grey-ish color but when I unlock the phone and I'm on the home screen, those same sections will be a rich black-ish color. Any one else have this happening to them?
Are you seeing the lockscreen color? The lockscreen itself has like a gray film over the wallpaper so it will appear as darker colors. Does it on all Samsung devices.

Not sure what you mean by "lockscreen color" I do see the color of the wallpaper on the lockscreen but it's not as rich as the wallpaper color on the home screen.

Imagine like a film covering a window, like tinted car windows, this is what the lockscreen does to newer Samsung devices. It did it on my s6 edge as well, if you have a lockscreen it's colors are just a little darker than your normal wallpaper. It's normal across new Samsung devices.

There anyway to change the lockscreen? I downloaded a theme, and although I like it everywhere else, I do not like the image on the lockscreen.
Touch and hold the home screen then select wallpaper. In the upper left corner tap home screen. A drop down should appear letting you choose home screen, lock screen or both.

selective wallpaper blur for apps

hi i have hired a team to make a launcher for me i call SymetiumUI, anyway we have gotten in alot of arguements and it looks like the app is being killed because of it can't find help to finish it, allthough this blur question this wasn't an arguement i still would like to know, i was told by that team that selective wallpaper blur where a shape of the wallpaper is blurred isn't possible, only the layer that goes ontop the wallpaper would blur it which causes alot of performance issues limiting it to one or two blurred objects at a time on screen.
So i would simply like to know is it possible for an app to blur a round ball or box on a wallpaper or can it just blur the entire wallpaper and not sections of it.
The idea for my app is that a part of the wallpaper would be blurred then a colored layer would be placed ontop causing the frosted glass efffect or even ios effect if you set the layer to white and slightly transparent, another workaround i came up for this is that the launcher keeps the entire wallpaper blured but only shows sections of the wallpaper blurred, meaning a layer is free to move ontop like a dynamic blur.
