aWizard can unlock CID and RAPI a XDA Neo (Prophet/G4) device?
If not, how else?
If i make my Ext. Rom shown and edit able and delete some CABs, then:
-they are disabled after restart?
-they are deleted for ever, also after hard reset?
Is there a way to completly delete the O2 Themes, also the Phone Skin and Splash Screen?
If there a way to complety delte the GPRS? like:
- delte a CAB or anything else?
much thx 4 help

No you can't and there is no way doing this as of now for a G4.

The Ext. Rom provides extra software that usually gets installed by default once a hardware reset has been done. Deleting CAB's in the Ext. Rom (whether it's possible is another question) has no effect on the Prophet at all. If software from Ext. Rom got installed already then they stay installed until you uninstall it or do a hardware reset.

You don't want to do any of that unless you know what you are doing.
Spatzm, thx so far ... but:
-how can i edit my ext rom then? when not with deleting the CABs?
-and i saw some threads they said, u can unlock a G4:
• one said with the aWizard
• and some others told of variouse tools to do that
they are all wrong?
... btw. i ask this, because i wanted to backup my XDA with aWizard before i change anything, but to before backup, the aWizard Tools tell i have to unlock, and without i only can backup the ext rom.

Hello,
My Extended ROM (which I access through an UnlockExtRom tool) has been corrupted somehow. Now I cannot read or write or edit the ExtROM. It only shows junk files with unreadable characters.
How can I clean this mess and load a clean Extended ROM package for future hard-reset needs without reinstalling a whole new AKU?
Thanks

Hi I had the same issue when unlocking the ext rom and trying to write on it.
I did not find any solution except by reflashing with an original aku.
Has anyone figured out how to unlock and mount the extended rom?
yes is there already an solution for it?

Ok, no extended ROM, not like it's wide public knowledge. But how in the hell do we delete unwanted crap? I'd rather not have to do the anti-bloatware reset, I'd like to be able to have full frigin control over my PDA! Anyone?

For "full frigin control", you'll have to learn how to cook your own ROM. Or, you may find that someone will post one here that suits your needs, in time. Other than that, you're stuck resetting during the "customization" process.
Is the statement that there is no Extended ROM on the Kaiser relevant for the Tilt as well or is this related to only the Tytn II HTC ROM? Specifically, during the carrier customization process on the AT&T Tilt, if there is no Extended ROM, where are the customization CABS being called from and how can they be extracted as others have done?

Do a search in \Windows\ for *.cab files and you'll find your answer.
(Total Commander is a great tool for searching your device, among other things)
Thanks for the info.
hi there - so can I just delete these cabs form wndows or will that take me to a new world of sh*t?

You can delete them without a problem. They've already been used/installed, so they're just taking up space now.
Hope that helps.
I tried deleting some cab files from my windows directory, but it says unable to delete because they are part of the rom. I'm using at&t rom.

The only way to remove them is to learn how to Cook a ROM.

If you hard-reset, everything will be back as usual. I noticed Kyphur's post above mine eluding to not being able to delete the files because a poster's question above him. I was under the impression that changing the attributes of the files and then deleting them would work. But hey, I could very well be wrong.
I, unfortunately, don't have a Kaiser anymore (horrible story, I'll try not to cry thinking about it), so I can't test it out right now. But try using Total Commander or something to change those attributes and delete them. As I said though, once you hard-reset, they WILL be back. Post back if that works.
dammit failed to do it with resco file exp. will try a/s then commander
it is possible to install a cab to the inside of the rom of the Kaiser? So that reinstalli after hard Reset

Yes. I have a folder called "cabs" on my microSD card. I click through it with Total Commander if I hard reset, or I use ActiveSync to reinstall apps through its interface.

I could be wrong, but I think what the OP was asking is if they can install directly to the ROM, therefor it's protected during a hard reset. If that's the case then no, you can't do that.

Ahh, "constructive" by not answering the question. I see. I didn't see that he asked how to reinstall programs after a hard reset. My bad.
Can't you still modify the setup text? Have it point to the cabs you want installed through the customization process? Again, not in ROM, but at least you don't have to use cabvia 50 times.
This is the sister thread. You can post your comment here. Please stick to the subject. ^_^

A great OEM package "kit" would be Alex's OEM Packages. It's a great start until you can build your own OEM packages.

1. Do you have .Net2.0 installed? Not sure if it requires it...

You download an OEM package set. You find out what you want to get rid off program wise, you highlight everything in that OEM folder. You copy it. You go to the OEMAPPS folder (and every other OEM folder) and you paste it. Say yes to overwrite whatever will be overwritten. Right away, press the delete button on the keyboard. You just deleted every file that belongs to that program.
Ivan, one thing about your roms that has always bothered me is that with my 8gb memory card when I do a soft reset the phone loops between the 2 splash screens untill I remove the card. Is there a way to fix this? Right now I'm running your stripped version of JustMe, however have had the problem all the way back to Just2Clean.

It's not my ROM only, as this happens with a lot of ROMs. At one time or another, I had figured out which software caused the problem but I have forgotten since then. Which packages are you building the ROMs with?
Im not sure if this is the same thing that live4nothing asked, but after doing lesson 2, and moving the OEM folder, when I open the OEM folder it is emtpy. I understand that I am supposed to get my own packages, but isnt there supposed to be somthing in the exsisting OEM folder? I followed all the steps, and changed the folder settings, whats up?
No packages, running the stripped version from your website before installing anything.

Did you start with your stock Herald/Wing ROM? Try it again. See if you get any errors.

Strange, it has only happened to me after installing AudioManager or some other software. I think it was audiomanager. Well, I guess you're now a beta tester for me to see if that happens to you with the new ROM.

All ROMs made with a Kitchen that uses "all_packages_to_one.exe" like bepe's kitchen will not be decompilable. Besides, you always want to start with a clean slate. Using someone else's ROM without their permission would start issues.
Ok I will try it with the stock rom
Hmmmm.... I think ttran might have the secret for my problem... Flashed Open Touch 6.5 stripped, installed Touchflo2d (audio manager was already cooked in) and no issues with restarting. Now that you two are working togetter..... can't wait to beta test that

But remember that the cooked in version of audiomanger is older then the one that comes with 2D.
Most people are trying to get the audiomanger from the 2D since it looks nicer and etc.
I have everything working correctly on my bro tilt but still working to fix them on the wing.
Quick question for all the Dev's out there. Is there anywhere/any way to write (a tiny amount of) data that would survive a hard-reset?
Cheers
I think it is possible include this data when cook the rom an flashes this rom to your device. CMIIW

Thanks, but what the OP is after is a way to write the data after flashing the ROM.

Sometimes you can write to extendend rom, but i guesss it might be device-dependent. I'm sure it worked on Wizard and toshiba G900. And i don't think that extrom is wiped during a HR. I never tested it, but that might be something worth trying. I just don't remember how to make the extrom writable on HTC's - it's writable in the g900 by default and you can access it by typing \extpart in total commander's address bar. But i think it was a bit different on HTC's.
Most newer devices don't have Extended Rom though. My Kaiser & Raphael don't.
Oh, ok. That's why i said it might be device-dependent

We're looking at ways of making "WIMP" type app that cannot be removed, or have it's settings wiped. I don't think it is possible, but we are hoping.
Getting the App Cooked in is easy, stopping the settings getting wiped after "Clear Storage" is another thing. Is there a way to mark a File as in "In ROM"? Or maybe write some data to an area that isn't wiped?
