Hi all, and thanks for the great website.
I have spent hour's & hour's reading on the how to of Big Storage (and other things) and now it’s my turn to offer you my way of doing these wonderful modifications..
I have updated my document to reflect the changes I make to my Magician. The document describes my "How To" in modifying the following items;
Big Storage
Customize your Boot Screen
Fix the "Error 120" country error when changing ROM's
Fixing the "Speckles" in photos taken with the built in camera
Please let me know if you find anything in the document that is wrong, needs improving or what ever you feel relevant.
UPDATE
I have put together all of the CAB files I have made/modified in the one plus for easy reference which can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33305
.
Thx very much
You made my day ! Until now, I thought I had created a paperweight with my magician by trying in vain to make BigStorage.
Followed now exactly your tutorial and, Oh wonder ! I have BigStorage !
Cheers
hrb
I'm glad it helped.
Great step by step
This business of using 128mb SD card for the rom backup is it a problem to use a 256mb or 512mb card or must it be 128mb?

amda..very nice...its very detailed...good work..
one thing which u could add to ur 'how to', is some advice given from
marcdbl, its about downloading the NEW ROM onto the Magician, to make sure to get the power press message....thanks to marcdbl for that because i was strugging to get the sd to work
1. Press the camera button, power button and reset button simultaneously to get into boot loader as usual, so that 'Serial' is displayed on the screen.
2. Insert SD card.
3. Again, press the camera button, power button and reset button simultaneously to get into boot loader, so that 'Serial' is displayed on the screen.
4. At this point you should get the Upgrade prompt.
good job +1
shouldn't someone just do the hack and upload it for those who got no SD card reader

This is that, what every user of magician should read at beginning. THX for that, you can also add how to remove simlock or set mp3 as ringtone, this could be useful for many people.
Another big storage succeeded..!!!!!
Now i'm beginning to get the hang of all this ROM thingy....and thanx to ampda for the detailed step by step.

Hi Guys
ive got my old htc tytn II/kasier/stella on o2, and i want to use it with my t mobile sim card in it.
I know it works ok with it in to start but if i want to wipe the device completely getting rid of all the o2 software is there a way being able to put tmobile or ideally back to the HTC software on it?
Thanks in advance
All depends on you really. If you keep your current rom and manually delete the o2 software. Every time you Hard reset (which we tend to do from time to time/or should I say forced to sometimes) you would have the software back and would have to delete over.
In my opinion you should install Hardspl (**Very Important**) then flash the original htc roms (Why not take the oportunity to try a modded rom. I recommend Sleuth V3 WM6.1, which can be found on this forum. After installing HardSPL rename the image file to KAISIMG.nbh and place in root of memory card (so \KAISIMG.nbh) the hold camera button whilst pressing reset button to go into bootloader. Press power to flash then soft reset once done and enjoy..
Hope this helps!!
DONT FORGET TO INSTALL HARDSPL FIRST THEN MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FULL BATTERY.
diigibio
cheers for that ive just installed and ran Hardspl, currently finding a rom to run on it now.
how do i rename the current image file?
Take the RUU_Signed.nbh (once downloaded) then right click in either Vista or Win XP, click rename. Then type KAISIMG.nbh and hit return key (Enter). Copy this over to your microSD card. MUST BE ROOT FOLDER (i.e. C:\KAISIMG.nbh where "C" would be the drive letter if connected via card reader etc)
Hold the camera button and press the soft reset button at the bottom (Keeping hold of the camera button) until Coloured screen comes up and then goes into bootloader. It will list what is included in the rom (i.e. Radio, splash, Image) Take note of this... Press power button to flash (FULL BATTERY RECOMMENDED) Wait and just after several minutes it'll finish. It is suggested that once you have flashed the new image to then perform a hard-reset "Two soft keys and soft reset button" this helps to clear out any left overs from previous rom and helps eliminate incompatibilities with software etc etc.. Although, not always neccessary it is recommended.
On a further note, not all roms include a radio image. Which is why it is recommended to take note of the screen you saw before flashing. As an incompatible radio can leave you without audio (Speakers, voice, signal etc) Although, if you download a rom without a radio, if you check their listing they usually recommend a compatible radio and usually link to it.
You can also flash this radio in the same way. Rename to KAISIMG.nbh, place in root of microSD card and enter bootloader (same way as before) if you check what is included you will just see radio listed instead of splash, rom etc. Once flashed just reboot and you should be good to go!! So don't panic there is always someone here to help. Providing you use search to your fullest capacity and ask in the right places without attitude.
Good luck and hope this helps.

I installed 'Fixed-Swype-HTCBlackBird-3.9.10.10.5032.cab' on my HTC HD2 today and the phone then went straight to the main restart screen requesting me to enter the keyboard password to get access to the phone but I am now unable to.
I have tried 'Hard Resetting' the device as below but cannot get the message to display for the reset.
Can someone please advise if there is a new sequence of no's to enter onto the start up keypad or an altertive way to Hard Reset while the phone is powered off.
I believe that the Swype keyboard may have conflicted the orignal keyboard hence screwing up any entries.
Kindly awaiting responses.
Thanks
Tony

Hard Reset : steps tried :
With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then press the END/POWER button shortly and release it. You will then see this message on the screen.
2. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.

HELP To Install Swype
Hey Guyz.. I'm sorry I'm a complete alien to this community. I wanted to install swype and i downloaded a cab posted on Xda Developers. Version 3.9 i guess. The downloaded file is a win rar file containing numerous files in the folder. I dont know now how to install it to my HTC HD2.. I copy pasted it to My SD card and then tried to hunt for a set up file that would install but no luck.. Please tell me how do i install. Sorry for my ignorance
Cheers
do not unrar the cab file. copy and paste in ur sd card folder and run it from there
This is a known problem and all the more reason it should not be distributed outside of the ROM's it was meant for. Installing the cab changes your device ID to TMOUS instead of LEO.
same problem
I have the same problem.
Is there any solution to the problem?
Would be really appreciated, thx!
Kind Regards

Hi!
I just recived my phone yesterday, its an HTC HD2, T-mobile but its unlocked, using it in europe. I know nothing about android, but I do know my question is very easy for those who have upgraded android.
When I start the phone, i see a black background and little text that says
Booting android from NAND. And the phone is running android 2.2
I would like some easy help on how to upgrade android, I have seen many articles explaining the procedure from Windows OS, but what about from android 2.2 to android 2.3??
Am I right thinking this is the latest version and most stable?
"Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS"
If so I would like some help to install it.
Thank you very much!

Hi Abotiz,
You are lucky handed HD2 T-Mobile version. In this xda-dev forum on the developer page section. You can learn how to flash your great HD2 with ginger-base ROM. Since you have 2.2 inside, mean someone have flashed you HD2. It's easier for you to upgrade due to all required tools have been sit on your HD2.
First for all what you need on your today situation is searching the PREFERRED Android Rom : I would like to recommend :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104557
I believed you have in your device, recovery application and boatloader, the famous one is MAGLDR by Cotulla. How to check :
First and All : put your device into BOOTLOADER situation, press volume down button and power button simultaneously and hold until you see three color on the display : Check something on there must be SPL 2.08, Cotulla (0x30). If No visit the following page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
Take up your battery to switch of your device
Switch on your device and Hold the Power button then you will see MAGLDR page on your device. You are safe and ready to upgrade your froyo to Gingerbread. Switched off your device.
Download the ROM from above link, save into your PC. Copy the ROM (File with *.zip format). Copy the ROM (something.zip) into your SD Cards in the phone.
Switch on your device, hold power button up to appear MAGLDR, chose AD Recovery, push call button > recovery application will appear for a good shake choose by using volume button > wipe user data/factory reset > push call button to confirm > chose wipe cache > push call button to confirm > choose advance > push call button to confirm > chose wipe dalvik > push call button to confirm.
Return to recovery by pushing power button > choose install from sdcard> call button to confirm > you will see the file of ROM you wish to Install *.zip > push call button to confirm > choose yes and confirm again.
wait for a while. Your HD2 will boot into new ROM

I've been using the HD2 for many months now, and I've flashed so many roms, but this was a wonderful little summery. Short, sweet, and to the point
Wow I feel ashamed that I posted that question...
And thank you very much for your reply!
The thing is, I was very new to this whole android/Rom flashing and all that I sort of panicked when I saw the millions of posts and tons of faq. And somewhere I thought " there has to be a very very easy way to do this " thats why I thought I should make a post because to me it seemed no one had the same phone with the same question, because there was no easy 2 step guide =P
The thing is, it is easy, but you have to read alot ( almost force youre self) there are some great faqs in this forum that helped me with my problem ( to those new members that reads this).
Today my phone works great and I have 2.3.4 (cyanogen 7 ).
Thanks again
