Hi,
Many times a day network goes off for no reason.
I have to turn it OFF/ON or choose select network.
It is not a network problem because I have another phone on the same operator that do not have this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Saadi
I'm so haaappy to hear this from somebody else on this planet !!! (Thought I got mad)
Exactly the same problem, but only when in ROAMING.
The network goes off several times the day and the only option is to turn off and on the phone.
Another problem connected with Roaming mode is that when dialing a number, there is one dialing tone + second dialing tone (immediately after the first one, but its faster than a normal repeating one), which is extremely loud so that I get ear pains.
What to do guys?
I was talking to the PalmOne support using my support-ticket you can get with registration but he didn't hear about that and couldn't help me.
...that's so much pitty as I love the device
Try changing the 3g band to gsm under settings/phone/service/band selection that might help
Hi,
I tried to limite to UMTS but it did not work, passed it to automatique still did not work. Will try GSM.
I have noticed that I am having this problem only at work and home where I have a wifi router near by.
Could the wifi affect reception?

Shouldn't be possible as Wi-Fi is completely different radio band and there is technically no Wi-Fi corresponding element inside the Treo. But as I think this might be a bug (firmware?) why does so few people have this problem...
It is weared, I only have this problem at work and at home.
So they must be something that affect reception.
The only thing i can notice is the presence of wifi routers.
smmonla - have you got any news about this problem?
I tried to hard-reset, to change all the bands etc. but nothing helps.
There are no problems with my new Excalibur which is also very sexy, but still I want the Treo
Hi,
Still having the same problem.
As I have read, we are not the only ones having this problem.
I also like my treo a lot.
Hope palm has a fix for this problem soon.
have a look at here. It isn't a very hot news and doesn't really help me, but still:

I have noticed that when I limit the band to GSM, I do not have the problem anymore.
Could it be an OS problem?
And now we are on the subject of 2G versus 3G, there is at least one advantage with the S620 not being a 3G mobile. You are free from the potential problem that some 3G Smartphones become “confused” regarding the continuous switch between 2G and 3G radio masts. A 3G Smartphone sometimes loses the connection to the network completely, even though it looks like you are “on”. Numerous Qtek 9000/HTC MTeoR/HTC TyTN owners have experienced this problem because some mobile operators have not optimised their networks for these types of models. These problems should be on the decline, partly because of software updates from HTC and partly because of mobile operators beginning to solve their network problems.

I've recently got a new 3G iphone. It came with a new SIM card that is suppose to be optimized for iphone. When I put this sim card into my Touch Cruise, I am unable to get 3G. There is signal bars but I cannot make or receive phone calls. The only way to make or receive phone calls is by disabling the 3G. The same applies for Data. I thought maybe the radio ROM was not working so I changed it to the Murata ROM but I am still having problems. I am on the Rogers network in Canada. Has anybody else having similar problems? Any help would be appreciated as I still find my Touch Cruise more useful than the 3G iphone.
Most probably is ur phone broken. U will have to send it to the service. Maaaaany users had/have/will have problems with calls, connections, signal strenght, bluetooth, camera, broken wheel etc. I had... Touch cruise is crapy.
If you know someone with a non-iPhone 3G sim, try theirs in your Cruise and see what happens

Actually, I did this today. Same thing happen. I would get a 3G signal but when I tried to make a call, I get no signal. But when I disable the 3G, edge works fine with voice and data.
Hi, I sufered the same problem until yesterday. I had the same problems. Yesterday I switched off the HSDPA switch in the software, after a soft reset the TC came back online. Probably worth trying?

I've tried both Murata radio roms. Both gives very good 3G signal but when I try to make a call or use data, I get no connection. I've tried the original radio ROM and some of the Kaiser ported radio Roms. They all give me no connection with 3G. In every case, when I disable the 3G, I can make calls and get data although it is only through edge and GPRS. I looked at my box for the TC and it is revision A. Do I need to send my TC for repair? I even went as far as calling my cell phone provider(Rogers) and they couldn't help me. The phone is functional but without 3G I am not getting very fast data speeds.
The problem started with my TC started after upgrading to Udk R6 and R7, after upgrading to R8 and a new radio version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351964
Will give you an updated radio version what will have a good match with the Udk diamond R8 Rom.

just a question, I'm on ATT, and the sim card I use on my polaris came off the iPhone3G, and I get the H (the high speed thing) sign on the phone during data sessions. on some areas I'm only able to get E and sometimes even the G sign came on and off. so I guess, maybe wherever you are, the 3G signal isn't strong enough, so you can only get edge.
and as of the other person noted, polaris is kind of at the edge of getting broken, fast. I only uses mine exclusively for web browsing for a week when the phone goes crazy. sent it to repair and everything seems to be in "sane" mode now let's hope that my phone didn't try to go insane again

You are the only person who i find with the same problem.
Thanks

Guys, maybe a silly comment but did you check the following settings : phone/menu/options/band and check select network type to auto?
I have had problems before with 3G & HSDPA. Somtimes when your registered on HSDPA and you travell away from that mast/area into an area that only has 3G or even only Edge, then device does not re-register onto the other band and you will not be bale to make calls and will miss calls. This happened for days one time and i very nearly hard reset my device in frustration, i eventually found out it was a network problem.
Another work around is going to phone/menu/networks and manually select networks and hopefully it should bring up your 3G network.
Phone operators do not like telling you that their 3G or HSPDA networks do not have good coverage or intermittent quality of signal. My 3G network only has 70% coverage & 30 % of that is HSDPA, so i sometimes end up on EDGE and hence miss calls.
Try playing around with the setting above one at a time. When im stuck i manually set band to GSM (edge), then when travelling away reset back to auto. Most of the time however it is fine.
Hi, I'm from Argentina. I had the same problem with 3G after a trip to other country. Now my TC only works well in GSM Band. Unfortunatelly we don't have service support here so if anyone knows how to fix this will be highly appreciated.
I have the same problem in my Polaris. I tried almost every radio i could find, i tried with different sim cards, i tried with official wm6 and wm6.1 roms with no result. When 3G is enabled i can not make or receive calls. I think that the problem started when i first upgraded from WM6 to WM6.1. Now i keep band selection to GSM so at least i can use my polaris as a phone. There must be something that prevents gsm connection when 3G is active. I hope a registry tweak could be found for this. I' m just one step from sending my device to be serviced.
I have the same trouble with my virgin uk sim card and t-mobile which share the same network(need to turn off 3g),but no trouble with my asda sim which uses the vodaphone network. So if you try different sim cards make sure they dont share networks.Another thing i've noticed with my virgin sim is all my preferred networks are unchecked but my phone will still connect if my 3g is turned off?
Hey all,
This is my first post. I've very frustrated so I only skimmed a search for a similar post but couldn't find anything.
Anyways, I am in Sydney Australia on the 3/Hutchinson network. My issue is that my TP takes between 30s to 45s to failover to 2G network when I am out of range for HSPDA. I have the latest radio ROM (1.14.25.05) and this still is an issue. I have sent it into repair twice already, both times I get positive testing results, ROM upgraded to newest version.
Has anyone else have this issue or knows how to fix it? Its really frustrating as when I try to send an sms or i'm on a call and it drops out I have to wait this long before I can call back. I have confirmed that I am in full coverage areas by the network engineers at 3/Hutchinson.
I am now using a N96 and have no such issues, so its not a SIM card issue.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Hopefully someone can help because my brain is melting here. Basically I spoke to orange customer services the other day because of totally poor signal. He told me to switch to GSM only, which was fine and I know it can improve your phone signal. The thing is, it's now stuck on there, whenever I try to change it to WCDMA it automatically switches back to GSM?
Any body got any ideas?
Cheers

I feel your pain. I am also a long-suffering Orange customer. Everything was fine until they climb into bed with T-Mobile. Since then my signal has been so erratic I simply can't trust things like Google Maps to work as navigation. Orange have left me stranded twice bombing out the 3G just as I need it to get home.
Anyway, how exactly did you switch to GSM only? There are a couple of ways of doing it.
Menu> Settings> Wireless & Networks> Mobile Networks> Network Mode = GSM/WCDMA auto.
I suspect it was this one. If this is the method that is changing back to GSM, then try this one;
Open you dialer, and dial *#*#4636#*#*
This will open a hidden testing menu, from this select 'Phone Information'
Scroll to the bottom and see what the 'Set Preferred network type:' is set to.
Mine works well with both GSM auto (PRL) and GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)
See if selecting one of these helps.
Let me know how this goes.
Hiya mate,
Yeah I gave that a try earlier. It seems I have to either have a good phone signal or crap data and vice versa? Pain in the ass. Orange told me that it was because of a faulty telephone mast in my area that has been off since last week. Can't see that being right to be honest, since my signal has been ****e since I first got it in April. Thing is, my sister was having the same problem with poor signal, and she wrote to some higher up person at orange to tell them about it. It ended up with her getting out her 2 year contract, bonus! I'm just going to ring and keep complaining and then write to this person my self, and hopefully I can get out of it my self. Orange is the worst network I have been on!
Cheers for your reply
I might give that a try. I still have a year left, but would love to jump ship and move back to Vodafone. I only went with Orange as my girlfriend was on Orange and magic numbers meant free calls. She then went and screwed things up by moving in! Now I don't need to ring her so much! (facepalm)
My housing estate has a dirty great big cell tower mast at the top of it. My fillings could receive a text message. But even with max strength signal still the 3G is off and on so erratically it's not worth using. They keep telling me that "the cell tower in my area is being worked on" too. That's been their excuse since February.
I have no idea I'm afraid why your phone wont stay on a WCDMA setting however. How are your APN settings? Mine once roamed to T-Mobile without me noticing and would only do 2G.
Yeah my girlfriend is my magic number too, and I live with her as well.. Doesn't make a great deal of sense really does it?
I think you may be on to something with that tmobile thing. Does tmobile allow wcdma?

When I used to do a manual scan for other Networks the following would show up;
Orange
Orange 3G
T-Mobile
T-Mobile 3G
If I try to connect to T-Mobile 3G it wont let me. The one that is just 'T-Mobile' doesn't have anything more than 2G. What happened was my Orange signal dropped out, so it jumped onto the 'T-Mobile' one without me noticing. It then didn't go back to the Orange 3G when I got home.
I just tried it again and got;
Orange
T-Mobile UK
The 2G/3G variants seem to have been dropped and merged into a single provider for each network. I can connect to T-Mobile but still only seem to get 2G.
See which one your connected to. It might be that although we are allowed to use T-Mobile for calls/texts the deal doesn't include 3G.

Yip, that's exactly it mate. I go on tmobile and I can get only 2g, I connect to orange and it let's me have 3G. It jumps between the two networks, and as I have poor orange signal all the time it auto jumps to tmobile! So basically it looks like I'm stuck to 2g if I want to actually speak to anyone! At least now I know what the problem is, but it still doesn't make me feel any better about having to make the choice, and having to constantly check which network I'm on before knowing why I'm getting either poor 2g or poor phone signal. What a headache!
Cheers for your help, much appreciated!

Lately, I've noticed some **** with o2 as well which as I previously recall always had good service, since I been with them for as far as I can remember. I'll have full 2G signal, and randomly the data will shut off. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for hours. But the phone signal remains on full... it's weird. And 3G coverage seems to be getting worse instead of better. None of this makes sense either since in March o2 apparently rolled out 900 Mhz 3G across most major UK cities, meaning 3G service on a 2G band, meaning much better 3G service in areas where only 2G service was previously good. I ain't seen **** all of an improvement, like I said it seems to be going the opposite way.
UK used to be ahead of the game when it came to cell networks, it seems most other countries have not only caught up, but jumped miles ahead. 4G is pretty standard in the US now, and they were so far behind in cell networks only a few years ago.
I wanted to toggle between 2g and 3g as my 3g plan is expensive. AT&T had blocked this feature. i tried through *#*#4636#*#* and also some other codes which is not successful. Can any1 help me in this regard.
Solution: Custom ROM
I am on Infused 2.x, and it allows me to switch to 2G networks.
I'm running CM7 and there is an option that allows you to use 2G networks only.
The stock Infuse software, if I remember correctly, only allowed you to use GSM only, which would use 3G.
As diablo stated, a custom ROM would be a good starting point.
If you didn't already know, 2G mode can cause interference with speakers, if that matters to you.

I cannot vouch for this. I am on 2G networks like about 90% of the time, and find no issues.
Can being the important word there
It happens on my phone. I have about 7 pairs of speakers on my desk at work, and using 2G causes all of them to give feedback while my phone transmits data, gets a call, or gets a text/MMS message. It's been like that, for multiple phones, for years. It's probably more important to note that these are older computers that I've kept running with magic, hope, and the occasional kick for the past few years, and the audio cards on them are likely very old too. I'm not an expert on a lot of things, and speaker technology is one of those things I'm not an expert on, but they are also older speakers and I can't say that if recent advances in this kind of hardware would have solved that.
Using 3G doesn't cause it. I don't have 4G in my area, and when my phone uses HSPA+ it obviously doesn't cause trouble either - (probably) being that as I understand it, HSPA is still 3G.
It's not a thorough troubleshooting but I started noticing my phone would do it when I started playing with which mobile network to use. It did not affect my truck's speakers, and it does not affect my speakers on my home computer or my headset.
YMMV.

Try with this code: *#2263#. Then choose GSM BAND and then GSM ALL or GSM 850.
Maybe someone of XDA Developers can develop a mod that allows adding a data network menu to stock rom to choose between 2G and 3G networks.
Hi
I have a Oneplus 6 8G/128G, upgraded to 9.0.4 through the standard OTA channel. Since I changed my telephone operator, from Vodafone to Wind3, I'm experiencing loss of GPS signal during phone call. If I change my SIM and plug a TIM or VODAFONE one, and I still stay in the same cell area, the GPS signal is correct.
The only way to have GPS working during call, is to force the phone in 2G mode only. If I set 2G/3G or 2G/3G/4G the problem occurs.
So it seems that there is a interoperability problem between GPS and the GSM cell, but this is a bug of the phone: it I put my WIND3 SIM in a different brand phone, it works.
Is someone experiencing the same problem?
Thanks
Stefano
Yup, same problem here. I fear it's hardware. I've had the problem for all the latest beta versions of Oxygen OS
I experienced that it happens in some area and not in other area.. Here where I live it works well, while where I was last week not at all. It seems something related with LTE which tricks the firmware of the phone in some way. If they do not solve, I think I will change my phone...
My gps works ok if you are on 4g or 2g network, even in airplane mode. But if the network drops to 3g network the gps gets unstable, I realized this by taking a road trip.
I suggest you take this test
Yes, I can confirm that it works in airplane mode and in 2G 3G 4G mode when I'm in my home location. In some other places it does not work.
And so?
Same problem here, also with new 9.0.4 or the old version of os . I hope for fix. (forse conviene segnalarla sul forum ufficiale)
Problem has been solved: Oneplus sold and Galaxy Note 8 bought. So here is the end of my experience with this Oneplus which, in the end, cannot be used for professional purposes but only for playing...
Same problem with 6T McLaren
I have the same problem, during phone call gps signal is going away, if I put in airplane mode GPS is working wll, so it's not necessary tho have Mobil network or wifi. phone is updated to the latest version of Android 9 beta. Contacting the italian support team the say that it's correct to work in this way, because during phone call connection drop to h and gps nedd 3G or 4G for working, it's a crazy answer because in offline mode gps works correctly.

I agree with you, this is a crazy and unacceptable answer. Unfortunately italian support teams are really bad in their job and with no technical skills (I have experienced the same with Samsung and Huawei service centers).
Anyway I think that there is a possible solution (at least with providers other than Wind-TRE): by enabling VoLTE in the service menu (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-enable-volte-forcefully-activated-t3797538) some people reported that magically the GPS works correctly during phone call.
I was not able to let it work with my provider, Wind-TRE, because they have not VoLTE activated, but maybe if you have a different provider it worths a trial. I remember that when I had Vodafone as provider, the GPS always worked well and it started to fail once moved to Wind-TRE.
Let me know if it works!
After more tests I discovered that GPS signal is coming again after 4 minutes of call and continue to work, so this is a bug, no 4G or internet connection problem. Another problem is to contact OnePlus skilled support interface no one that admit that there is a problem, this is crazy!
