I try the flicker from auto to 50hz but still so slow
hi
any one with rom version 2.20 please send me the driver files of the camera
if you need the names of the files I'll tell you about them?
hi,
i'm interested on a update of the camera, too...
thx

Didn't make it better for me. It even got worse.. ..Now I have to clock down with OMap clock to get rid of the Green stripes this driver gives
?
maybe if some one could extract the driver from the 3.2 pdamobiz rom?
i'm using the qtek rom on imat jamin,i have the same problem green dot's
when overclocked
i have the slow motion prob. too. it's drivin' me crazy.
i wonder may be this all about the hardware,
downgrade to this old one, the first one I gave is a little better
and do you need to OMAP overclock, it's useless, only on video and some little programs, don't over clock until you need a higher speed, it's safer

This works for me, the camera is working at the same slow speed as before. But I can use it even when I'm using Omap
it's hardware and driver issue, but it can be fix, I have some ideas, but I need to contact with HTC support
hope that they will fix the slow motion
can you tell us?,
when will you cantact them?
and please tell them about that tiny little piece of s***, that they call it Speaker.
i need to replace that with a good one, and i don't know where to find one?
It's nice to see that someone want's to improve the misserable camcorder, but I think it's a waste of time since it already exsists a solution...
It's called CoolCamera (not free but really great)
Google it and try...
Best regards,
Rayan
slooooooooooowly
terrible !!!!
i have enabled the show frame rate bit at my prophet, and, in the best case,
the frame rate of my camera (in video mode), is 5.84 fps !!! but, in general,
the number of fps recorded is 2 or 3 !!!
the version of my soft is:
rom: 2.20.7.36 ESN (october, 7 2006)
radio: 02.47.21
proto: 4.1.13.24
extrom: 2.20.7.116
camera: 3.02 (build 23026)
i have tested with overclock (at 247 mhz) and the speed of the camera is identical
CoolCamera!!! It's worse than the original camera, anyone try the video, the slow motion only in the room light and dark colored areas, there is no slow motion under the sunlight (daylight) and when record the white wall of your room and little of dark colored stuff on it.
So when you try to record 5 second in CoolCamera, in resolution 320x240 and 25fps it will be awful.
The slow motion will affect only the videos and fast pictures shots, CoolCamera will stay the same in pictures, but worse videos.
It's about hardware and the driver, nothing to do with the programs operate the camera. as cool camera use the same driver.
If anyone tried CoolCamera and found it better please let me know?
About the speaker you can change it but will avoid you warranty, be careful, I think there is a thread about changing the speaker, and it will be better, if you buy good new one!
thanks pal,
i agree, coolcamera doesn't do any thing about the slow motion,
but if u use "interval" mode, you can have better static shots,
and about the speaker, thanks
the frame rate depends on the light, it's about the slow motion in camera, all have the same slwo frame rate in this prophet, very bad camera, esp the motion
try record the light and the wall or under the sunlight it will be 15 fps
i have tested the coolcamera 1.15 beta, and the
results are the same: swooooly ((((
regards
as i told before,i think it's always in night mode, here is the prove
you know that, i think
in low-light place changing the ambiance between daylight and night mode doesn't change any thing. because it's already in night mode,
correct me if i'm wrong,
My first notice too, but all the HTC except prophet has no slow motion even in night mode, the problem of light, and there mustn't be slow motion even in night mode

I am after any help to get my prophets camera video recording (which stutters like crazy and misses most frames) working to an exceptable level.
The basic photo quality from the camera is ok however its just the video recording
For the record, I have tried and tested CoolCamera v1.15 (and previous incarnations/versions) but CoolCamera doesn't work well at all on my Prophet and even the photo side of the software gives a bad image result.
I am currently using a G4 Prophet, ASURG v3.3.13 ROM which is the best out of all of those that I have tried.
So, what I am after is any help / relevant advice or information on what to do to enhance the video capabilities.
I use a fast 4GB MMS card which is NOT the problem as far as I am aware as I have not only tried saving a video recording internally but have also tested various ultra cards from 64mb,250mb right up to a 1gb for saving onto and its just as bad.
I have tried many patches (cab update types from various operators etc)
I have not come across any registry tweaks so am interested to hear if anyone has any they know of.
I have a feeling it maybe something to do with a combination of the relatively low CPU speed of the Prophet and perhaps the seemingly low quality sensor and camera chip? Incidentally, I've also increased and decreased the core clock speed using omapclock software but that makes no difference either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I use the device for EVERYTHING. Its with me 24hours a day and is used primarily for taking spur of the moment photos for work.
PS: For the record I have also checked 'xda-Dev' and left a post for help to (I haven't found anything relevant to this problem anywhere to be honest which I find strange.)
Surely I am not alone with this problem.
Thanks in advance of any help
Nicholas
I have nothing to say, use these tips for a little improvements
1. Update to Rom 2.20 and over clock to 204 MHz.
2. Use more light in the office.
3. Try 50 Hz flicker adjustment
I'm using now N80 the colors are not as Jamin but much movement for video inside, get on for your office
Thanks anyway....
Thanks but have already tried 2.20 with no difference. I started off with 2.20. Variable flicker adjustments have never made a difference either and I get the same result inside or outside. colors are very vivid and acceptable too. Its just the video recording quality I am looking to fix / better.
Video jumps and stutters during recording (every few seconds) at present to the point that I have to discard every video made on the phone.
Thanks all the same for replying.
I have very good Camera outdoor, in the sunlight, maybe ur device has a problem
well, erm thanks for that.

A solution for you...
Hi m8,
What you need to do is this:-
1. Flash your phone back to a decent ROM such as the last QTek AKU 2.20 release. (All the other WM6, AKU3+ etc. etc. ROM's you might find are basically CRAP, although Jesterz AKU2.20 ROM is also a keeper in my opinion!!)
2. Then you need to overclock your phone to approx. 234MHz with the "Batterystatus" plugin (A very nice little app. that you should always have on your phone! - Search this Forum to find the app. d/l link!)
3. Unfortunatley, the AKU2.2 Camera Driver cannot handle the aforementioned overclock speed and gives you green pixels all over the screen, so you need to download and install the following older version of the Camera Driver, from here:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31808&d=1165275264
4. Soft reset your phone after installing the driver and BINGO, Camera now runs like a charm in both still and in video modes!
I hope this helps... let me know if you need clarification of anything or if for some reason this doesn't work for you!
Cheers, Moz.
Thanks friend.
Thats one of the roms i was using last month. Its stable and reliable but still had problems. As for over clocking I use OMAP overclocking app and add shortcut to startup. I was told not to over clock ever if I want a decent camera result but will try once more. I appreciate your advice. Thanks.
Worse thing happened yesterday...my Prophet speaker died. So I have been told to phone up to arrange a replacement on Wednesday. I didn't know that the Prophet was renowned for having a speaker problem every so often and that many other people had had to get replacements because of this.
Oh well. Will wait till new one arrives and see how good the video is on it.
Thanks again
Hi again,
Sounds like your Prophet experience has been pretty much a mirror image of mine... I think we will ALL get the speaker problem sooner or later... these particular handsets seem rather badly built to me! I simply replaced my failed speaker with one from an old SPV E100 I had lying around, and now the ringtones and sound playback from the unit is awesome - Can't beat the old phones for build qualitt!! (...and I got my Jamin from Ebay for 60 quid so it was easy to take a risk in pulling it apart!!)
As for the fix I described previously, the Omap overclock will work equally well (I just find the Batterystatus app. more flexible). The Jesterz ROM is defo one of the most stable out there and if you want to use your device as a proper business/workhorse mobile phone rather than just a gimicky toy like most of the kids on here, then it (or the proper Qtek AKU 2.20) are the *only* ROMs worth considering.
Your previous advice concerning not overclocking for the Camera is essentially correct, hence the need to downgrade the driver in order to attain the required performance!!
When you get your replacement unit from Orange, I would simply try the Overclock to 234MHz then install the Driver fix I posted on top of whatever standard ROM it comes with... I'm sure you will see the improvement in video you are seeking - it works for me anyway!
(Nice website you have there, by the way... had a quick nosey and just thought I'd say! )
Rgds, Moz.
Cheers Mozzerr
Sound Mozzerr.
Took ALL what you were saying. Am checking new replacement now. Came this morning. I love Orange. I was really peed off at first as insurance had been taken off a year ago without my asking. Could have been an oversight on my part am not quite sure, but it nearly cost me a replacement phone. Was getting VERY worried as first told during two separate calls to two 'O' reps that HTC were going to have to fix the problem and that would be down TO ME!!!! cheek of it.
Anyway. Orange came up trumps in the end so am not here to knock them as they've been more than good to me in the past.
Anyway, am now off to play with the camera and see what gives.
Glad you like the site and thanks
Go to HKLM/Software/HTC/Camera/Common and change EnableFrameRateInfo to 1
ok now go back to either your camera or video camera and you'll see there's now a little box telling you the frames per second. If you play with it you'll notice that it gets very poor in low light (probably around 3 fps) to slightly better in bright light (15 or so). Either way, these frame rates are probably causing the blurry photos. Not sure of the answer, but this shows the problem. Any one have thoughts on if this is a software or hardware issue or any way to tweak this? If you're getting 3fps then the image needs to be entirely still to not blur...
thanks bugsy. i've tried powering off the screen while in camera mode for 10-15 secs and then turning it back on which seems to reduce some of the camera lag or low framerates and now i can more accurately judge what the difference really was. i went from 3-5 fps, to 15-20 fps.
!
10x for the tip bugsy i never got to 20fps even ouside in day lite so i really
hate the way TP is recording....if you move your hand it records like
crap...found a funny one: while using flash lite the lite is reflecting in the
picture so i try to fix it (take one photo with flash lite in dark and then
take another one with the back cover from TP off ) look in the right side of picture to see the diference ,to fix it i painted with a black marker inside the
phone back cover near camera and flash !!!
any ideas how to fix this? 3 frames per second is a total joke. I can point it at a light and move the camera all over and get 15 fps with all sorts of movement. If I move it to low light I'm at 3fps... 15 is tolerable...3 is almost unusable.

I had noticed that flash reflection too, it really ruined flash shots! Well, I did like you said and took a dark marker and marked the metal part on the inside of the back cover, and now no more crappy flash photos, THANK YOU much for this tip!

Has anyone else experience this issue? Every time I go to record a slow motion video the screen gets dark. I can see the video but it's really dim and plays back really dim. This only happens indoors. When I first got the phone I just thought that must be the way it is. However, I installed a particular ROM on my girlfriends phone (HTC Amaze) and it has slow motion video baked into the ROM and it records perfect without dimming itself. Furthermore, it does it in 720p. So there must be a way to fix this in our One S phone's. Someone with enough knowledge please help.
Same thing happens on my One S running on Trickdroid 6.1.0

Same here. Happened on stock Rom straight out the box. :/

That comes with taking a slo motion video. You need lots of light when taking them. This isn't a DSLR.
When you shoot in slow motion, you are taking pictures quickly. And when you take pictures quickly, light has less time to create an image in your camera. Shoot in lots of light otherwise you'll get the dark and gloomy.
I understand that our phones are no DSLR camera. However, my girlfriend's HTC Amaze can record in slow motion with no low light issues what so ever.. Obviously you didn't read my first post... And it records in 720p slow motion. Better then our One S phones. There is a fix or a camera.apk replacement somewhere. I could use her apk from her ROM but then if I did I'm sure I wouldn't have the "Continuous shoot mode" which I love.
i was using slow motion video thing on my sensation and it was greate one s have a big problem in this case also on new 4.0.4 update too
Hi guys, I am new to the forum. Its good to be here.
So, I just installed camera fv 5 lite and the problem is that the shutter speed goes to a maximum of 1/11 secs. I was reading another guys tutorial and his one plusone could go to 64 seconds! He mite have had the paid version but still even in the light version it shouldn't be this low! I am confused why this is happening!
Please can someone give me a fix for this especially those of you familiar with camera fv 5. Or another app that allows to set exposure, shutter speed etc which works on xperia xz. Hope some of you guys can help me out.
Have a great day.
I've tried several 3rd party camera apps, even paid versions, including the paid version of FV-5 and none of them would offer a slower shutter speed than 1/10 second. I believe that is the slowest that Sony surfaces through the api to other apps.
Also none of the other apps allow any higher resolution than 8MP.
Lastly, I couldn't get FV-5 to even work on my XZ. I could take a couple of photos then the app appears to lock up. The circle in the center keeps spinning like it can't obtain focus.

Thanks for your reply, Fred! That is sad news though. I also tried several 3rd party apps (bought one too) but as you said, the shutter speed does not go below 1/10s. I wonder if you can root your device and fiddle around to change it from there or is it more of a hardware issue (kind of a noob when it comes to these things). The thing is I was reading an article where this guy used his OnePlus One to take epic milky way pictures just using his phone, fv 5 and a tripod. His phone and fv 5 allowed him a 64 second shutter speed! The results were unbelievable. I though to myself an Xperia XZ with such a great camera would do wonders but apparently not
BTW Fred, the issue you told me regarding fv 5 (spinning), it happened to me too but I think I just was not keeping the phone steady. When I kept the phone steady it would circle around, turn green, and take the picture (but I have a feeling your problem might be different). Just trying to help you out.
Thanks again man.
I hope there is some fix/hack out there that can reduce the shutter speed to at least 30-40 seconds. Samsung S7 has a 10 second shutter speed!

I'm not sure if there will be a way to get a very long shutter speed. The Sony camera app jas a max of only 1 sec., which, to me, is still very fast. Other phones that i have allow up to about 30 secs max shutter speed.
I should add that the problem i observed with FV-5 only occurs when I take the app out of auto mode, specifically go to shutter priority. Happens even in strong sunlight. I just downloaded and tried it agaik, since i got the android 7.1.1 update last night. Same problem, no change

This phones 48mpx camera shutter speed is too low, you can not take bust shots, for bust you need to change to 12mpx which is annoying.
I personally dispontted from this, Also brightness is a big issues in outdoors, im also using honor 8pro and outdoor i use 50% to 60% brightness. And for tbis phonr brightness level is 96% huge difference between brands.
During calls suddenly u r not able to hear voice of other person, just for a freakction of time.

You shouldn't ever change it to 48 mp unless you intentionally either want to take worse photos or if you just like large numbers. It's 12 mp by default for a reason.
Set the phone to auto brightness for the highest possible brightness. If the brightness level is fine at 96% then what is the problem?
The display tests I've seen put them both in the 450-550 nits range so the maximum brightness shouldn't be all that different.
The last part sounds like reception issues. From what I've heard the antennas aren't exactly the best so that's something any buyer has to live with or hope Asus sends out an update that can alleviate the problem although I don't expect that to happen.

I never said it was a good buy.
There was no long speech; where did that come from? It was a simple response to your issues or rather (mostly) non-issues.
What's the major problem exactly? The only real problem was the signal reception but it also sounds like it's intermittent.

And neither of them has 48 MP camera. It takes longer to process and save 48 MP pictures due to large file size, that's why burst mode is not possible. I'd suggest you to do some research about it.

So you just wanted people to agree?
Megapixels don't really matter. A lot of things go into making a good camera. However that wasn't the original issue. You complained about taking photos at 48 megapixels being slow. You've been told two things in regards to that:
1) set it to the default 12 mp because that's what it was made to do; it's meant to do pixel binning for the best quality and speed.
2) large megapixel counts require more data meaning it's slower. That's how it's meant to be.
In short: there is little to no reason to take pictures at 48 mp.
Sorry for a bit of offtopic (ignoring OP's "problems") but what's wrong with antennas? I had a Galaxy S4 and that was a nightmare in terms of cellular connectivity. If there are problems with calling, do they affect network connectivity in any way?
In my Zenfone 6 the flip camera while working in main camera in 48 MP tends to stop working either in selfie mode or rear camera mode whenever I flip. It's temperamental as sometimes main camera works only in Selfie mode then in rear camera mode it whites out the screen. Sometimes it works only in rear mode but in selfie mode it whites out. Can't make out what is the problem. Hopefully an upgrade will solve it.

Sorry for a bit of offtopic (ignoring OP's "problems") but what's wrong with antennas? I had a Galaxy S4 and that was a nightmare in terms of cellular connectivity. If there are problems with calling, do they affect network connectivity in any way?

For me, 4G with airtel network in India is giving 19Mbps download speed which is similar to s10+ where I get 18 to 19 Mbps.
I heard there are A, B and C modals of this device not sure if network issues exist in few type/modals.
167 new firmware released primarily to address camera and call quality issues.
OP can check if new firmware helps.

Software can not solve hardware issues, like poco phone hearing error if u tilt a little, same with this phone having some mechanical errors which can not solved by software updates, sad but true.

There was an update yesterday claiming to address the flip camera issue however my mobile camera continues to have the problem. From what I understand the image flipping creates the problem on my mobile. The main camera flips images on final position in selfie or rear camera mode & exactly at that point where the image correction is supposed to happen my screen whites out intermittently.
Can someone please help & advice.

Just wondering many claims here, I have been using 8 / 256 Gb model for few weeks now. Everything works just fine.
Asus camera is a good one. No need for GCam, but you can install it too (just like I did). Just install the latest arnova8G2 for Zenfone 6 (camera API2 is supported by Asus, so you need just install GCam).
I prefer usually Xiaomi phones, but I decided to chose this one instead of waiting Global K20 Pro. Just happy with my new Asus Zenfone 6.
After use of 1 month this phones camera works slow portrait mode woks slow one single picture takes 4sec to process which is very slow if we compare with one+, image process time is too slow of 6z

I don't experience such a problem.
If you need Asus attention then post it in their forum: https://zentalk.asus.com/en/categories/zenfone6/
Oh, you already did, that was fast
