Loaded the cingular Rom onto the 750V and found the following bugs (looking for a little help?)
1. When using VJToggleToday_Hiding_Bottom (great program) after I receive a call the "answer" / "menu" display wont go away.
2. You cant use .wav files as your ringtone
3. Someone how the Palm software overrides the soft key edits of 112 and 113(these are even changed in the cingular rom but ineffective)
4. Cant hide the cingular carrier and search for name or number w/o severely hampering phone functions.
and Im sure they will keep on coming for anyone interested in debugging this thing...
thanks in advance,
mike
Does the Cingular ROM take away network/band selection in the settings menu?
Thanks...
there is a choice to select network type:
Auto
GSM UTMS
there is a second choice to select your gsm/utms band:
Auto
GSM (900 +1800) + UMTS 2100
GSM (1900 + 850) + UMTS (1900 +850)
hope that helps
Cingular ROM for 750v
Do you still have the Cingular ROM for the 750v? I've been searching everywhere for it. Anything would be an improvement over the radio that came with it. Thanks in advance for any help you could provide.

hey guys
i know i've seen this thread somewhere here before but i can't seem to find it... can someone give instructions on how to force my Treo 750 to only use the UMTS/HSPDA band? i ask because if i ever roam onto an EDGE or GPRS band my data charges are extremely expensive (3 Australia).
thanks!!
forgot to add that i'm using the ATT WM6 ROM... is that as simple as just going into the band selection and selecting UMTS in the network type? What about the GSM/UMTS band? does that need to change?
Menu (right soft key)-> Pref-> Phone Settings-> Band Selection Tab-> Choose your settings.

Just installed ranjus rom with radio 1.18. Few questions...
1)it still comes up with the o2 splash screen when I turn on, and it asked me all the o2 question(it is originally an o2 xda exec). I wouldve thought installing a totally new rom wouldve wiped all this??
2) im now using my orange sim in it, but it won't connect to a 3G singal(it didn't do this before I put ranjus rom on it either)
O2 Extended Rom Customisations Are Probably Not Compatible With WM6.1
You Need To Flash The Extended Rom To Remove All The O2 Customisations.
Go Into Your Phone Options And Set The Band To Auto To Enable 3G/GPRS And Not Just GPRS. (GSM = GPRS & UMTS = 3G)
Download The HTC Network Settings Tool And It Will Configure Your Device With The Settings Required For Your Selected Network.
Hope That Solves Your Problems.

I tried to change the band from gsm to auto but it just goes back to gsm and greys all the boxes out! do I need to use that prog you gave the link to?
edit:think I got it to change the band to auto, still not on a 3g network but maybe I am outta range.
the device kept turning off like it was outta battery, but it said there was like 30% left, now im on mains power its workin ine.
can I flash th extended rom witout looisng all the settings and progs I've just loaded on?
I Believe So...
I Think You Can Just Make Sure Theirs No "radio_.nbf" (Radio Rom) Or "nk.nbf" (CE OS Rom) In The Flash Utility Folder.
Then Run The Flash Utility And Dont Perform A Hard Reset After Flashing.
It Should Then Only Update The Extended Rom. The Problem Is If You Have Already Let The Device Autoconfigure,
Alot Of The Crap From The Manufacturers Standard Rom Will Still Be Installed On Your Device.
The Best Way To Remove Would Be A Hard Reset But That Means Having To Reconfigure And Reinstall Etc.
Oh And To Answer Your Previous Question About The O2 Logo, Ranju's Rom Doesnt Flash That Area Of The Device Thus Leaving The O2 Logo Intact.
Their Are Ways To Customise This Logo If You Like.

OllieD
I will have a tinker later on when im at home in front of my computer. Any idea why I can't get 3G reception? its enabled in the control panel.
So does anyone have any idea why I cant get 3G network reception? Im on radio 1.15 now.
For those of you who can get 3G reception...When you go to Settings>Phone>Network>(Network Selection) Manual...Does it show the regular networks (i.e 'Orange', 'O2 - UK' etc) AND the 3G network (i.e 'Orange 3G', 'O2 - UK 3G' etc)?
Sim Card Possibly.
No The Networks Are All Called The Same Its Just The Radio Bands Used To Connect Data Services That Differ.
Maybe Your SimCard Isnt A 3G Sim Or It Isnt 3G Enabled?
If The Sim Is Not A 3G Sim It Would Only Use GSM I Believe.
Regards,
OllieD
it is definstely a 3g card as it works in my other phone! does everyone get 3g reception on orange using a g3 o2xda with ranju rom and radio 1.15?
Isn't there ANYONE on orange in here??? I have had a look around and I think most of the Orange network runs on a 900MHz UMTS freqency. And it looks like the Uni only supports 1900MHz
UMTS on Ranju 7.7
I am on Orange, using Ranju 7.7 and radio 1.18. I had the same problem as you with the default Phone parameters, but I was able to change the band setting to "Auto" in the phone options. Thus GSM Band became "EGSM+DCS1800" and UMTS Band "UMTS 2100". And after a while the 3G icon appeared !
Universal bad for 3G
i can only say that universal has very bad 3g(UMTS connection) because when most other phones show 4 bars for 3g..my o2 exec only give 1 bar..but it is OK for 2g or GPRS...anyone agree??
Well I just flashed my voda v1640 with ranju v77 Rom, and shows good UMTS performance with italian "TIM" network, both for signal strength and for internet browsing.
the Radio is 1.14.10 (it should be the original one...)
I've been trying to find a way to disable 3G on my new HP iPAQ 910c I got through Rogers Wireless a few weeks ago. I find the battery drains pretty quickly on the phone, and from what I've read forcing it down to GSM when I don't need the 3G speed will help that alot.
My problem is that when I go to the Phone Settings, there's no "Band" tab in which to designate that I want to limit to GSM. From everything I've read the tab *should* be there, but it's not. What tabs are there are the following:
Phone
Security
Services
Network
TTY
PIN2
AOC
More
Doing some searching, I came across this post from last year that addressed a similar issue with an HTC Diamond on the Rogers network.
raidendb wrote:
Just want to share this. But I'm pretty sure this has been tackled in the forums already.
Rogers branded HTC Diamond doesn't have the option to turn of 3G through band selection. I found this registry hack to enable band selection and now I can turn 3G off.
Rogers default registry - OFF
[\HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\]
"ShowUMTSBandPage"=dword:0
Registry tweak to enable band changes
[\HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\]
"ShowUMTSBandPage"=dword:1
Now you can go to >start>settings>phone>band tab and change band settings to your choice. I switched mine to just use GSM instead of auto which always connects on 3G.

The issue with that suggested fix is that I don't have a "PhoneSetting" key under \HKLM\Software\OEM (or anywhere for that matter) on my iPAQ. I tried adding it, and then adding the "ShowUMTSBandPage" dword, but that didn't seem to have any effect (even after a soft-reset).
If anyone has any ideas on how I can enable the Band phone settings tab, or otherwise turn off 3G on occasion on my phone, it'd be greatly appreciated.
This one time, at band tab...
try DHR Bandswitch
Thanks. I installed it and it seems to kindof work. I've posted my questions about it in the Bandswitch thread.
Congrats.
Hi to All !
I tried a lot of Roms but up till now couldn´t find one
with 3G working ...
So I went back to my T-Mobile WM5 Rom.
Do you know one Mobile 6 Rom with working UMTS ?
Pease advise.
Best regards,
Karl
Pretty much every WM 6/6.1 ROM out there works with 3G/UMTS, perhaps you don't know how to activate it?
unless you are in the U.S. then you won't have any 3G , only GPRS, no matter what ROM you might have.

every WM 6/6.1 or 6.5 rom work with 3g if you have proper setting for it... if you are talking about 3G feature like videocall then none of therom except wm 5 works... if you are talking about 3G internet or other service then it should work flawlessly... try to install the setting cab for the operator and your country... the best way to get it would be getting it from t-mobile rom you got... there should be a cab file namely your operator in ext driver of the rom...
Hi !
Mysterious ....
My provider is Orange. So I took the T-Mobile Rom and changed the provider to Orange using the Network Wizard. 3G is working fine on this. I will simply stay with the WM5 Rom ... By the way ... We do have 3G here in Europe.
Best regards Karl
Go with any wm6, 6.1 or soon to be 6.5 rom and use the network wiz. I have been using it for years with no problems at all. Could it be a hardware problem??

dont forget to put your phone on auto on phone settings
Some Tomal's ROMs doesn't work with 3G e.g. Tomal v.8.7 lacks this. The option was locked and my Qtek could receive only GSM1800.
Well I too live in Europe but I had such a problem if I used my old sim card I couldn't use 3g but with a new sim card I could. Soo try with another sim card maybe that will help. I use vodafone

Wrong. All Tomal's ROMs support 3G, the option was not locked, but unavailable once you have a GPRS connection established. Disconnect and you will be able to switch to auto in settings. However, in some ROMs complete settings were available through phone options.

OK, maybe my full-loaded with apps Qtek wasn't able to switch in auto mode due to some reasons. But still, thank you for information!
PS: I do appreciate Tomal's ROMs cooking and consider them a very good for Unis.

It usually doesn't switch the Auto mode automatically, I always had to adjust it in settings, but the only reason the selection tab is greyed out when you go to do so it the active connection already established. Don't think it has anything to do with apps loaded. Try it next time, Tomal's ROMs are great. Would hate something as small as that ruin that impression for you
3G Icon disappeared
Hello guys,
Yes Enigma1nz
You are right. All Tomal's ROMs are great. I use Tomal's Rom always.
But here I can't see 3G icon on top bar. I have saved the proper configuration file for 3G settings from operator.
Here is my network & band settings:
Select your network type = Auto
GSM Band = Egsm+DCS1800
UMTS Band = UMTS 2100
Can you tell me how you are using 3G fine?
WCDMA

Hey all,
I just moved to France with a i9020a Rogers phone. According to this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Google_Nexus_S) my phone can cover the 2100 frequency band and according to this (http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html) France's 3g frequency is 2100. I just got a SIM card and my text and calls seem to be working, however, I can't use data at all. Any ideas?
Phone info:
Type: Rogers i9020A
ROM: 4.0.3 stock
Kernel: eugene's
Radio: UCKE1

I tried following the steps below, however, after deactivating and activating my phone radio and pressing menu my phone just went back to the home screen. I remember doing this with gingerbread and having a new screen asking which country and provider I had. Can anyone else do step 5 with ICS?
1. Go to Dialer. Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2. Go to Phone information. Choose the preferred network to
"GSM Auto PRL" or "CDMA Auto PRL" or whatever you have.
3. Scroll down, deactivate and activate Phone Radio.
4. Press Menu button.
5. Select Phone frequency, then choose your country.
6. In the previous menu push the Home button to go back to Homescreen.
7. Reboot.

Gotten edge working
Update:
I have tried flashing several different radios with no luck. I did find that I did not have any APN settings so I found the APN settings for my provider (http://mobile.free.fr/faq-config-apn-autres.html) and now I have EDGE .
Since I can only have one APN configuration selected at a time how do I configure the MMS to work? Will configuring it under a new configuration work or do I incorporate it into my current configuration.
And of course I still can't get that blasted 3G to work.
Any help would be appreciated!
Solved:
After flashing my original radio (UCKE1) on my phone my 3G is now working . To configure my MMS (for free mobile anyway) I used the APN settings provided by Liel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452220). I hope this helps anyone who's having trouble in the future.
Cheers!
