XDA IIi camera

After installing the latest ROM upgrade, I think the camera is even worse than when I first got the IIi It really is just about unusable mainly due to grain (noise) particularly at low light levels. I saw on here (but now can't find) a post that suggested replacing the camera.exe with one from another similar device gives a great improvement. Is this worth trying, and if so can anyone point me to a sensible download

Thanks Murat - that's the thread.
Anyone know if the models referred to relate to the XDA 2i - as far as I can tell it's either a Qtek 2020i or sometimes known as the Alpine. The thread mentions Imate.
Am I likley to screw everything up by simply renaming the existing camera.exe and copying in the one from this thread?

What I did:
- Backed up
- Downloaded the "Camera_ampda_Win.CAB" from one of the first few posts
- Ran it on my XDA2i
It works fine, the colour noise is largely removed.

installed the win cab file which seems to have installed the new camera.exe file (27/5/05) .... as someone said it seems to do a bit of thinking goes through a brief flirtation with a really nice rendition of the scene, but then unfortunately settles on a pretty noisy final image ready for capture. Even worse mine then tells me 'Unable to capture. Not enough memory. 36001:111:0' This is so even if I set image capture on Small. Space detective is telling me there is massive amounts of free space everywhere.
Any ideas anyone?

PS video seems to capture OK - and has a nice rendition

Hmm, mine just seems to do a bit of thinking then settle on the image with virtually no colour noise. I've not had any of the errors you mentioned...

I have got the latest ROM installed - might that be the difference?

Yeah I've not done any ROM updating of any sort, that's probably it.

Everything one needs to do a Tilt to TYTN 2 conversion!

So far it seems that you need 3 things to turn a Tilt into a TYTN 2
1. Hard SPL
2. Kaiser Shipped ROM
3. Keyboard fix
I haven't gone about doing my conversion just yet.. but it seems that these are the only required apps?
I would appreciate it if an experianced individual could provide a confimation or correction to my thoughts.

Sounds good to me, course my Tilt ROM didn't last longer than 10 minutes past charging time...HELLO AustinSync Big ROM!

since AT&T screwed us over on that one.

Would u say the shipped kaiser rom is better then the att rom??

Yep, the Camera in the front, and also u gotta unlock your phone, then u pretty much have a TYTN II.........Good luck with that!

Ok so after flashing the phone... i wanna get rid of the ATT branding and replace it with my custom Terrorist branding.. anyone got any ideas?

So my Tilt comes in tomorrow! So my question is, is the Kaiser Shipped ROM the best way to go? Any other suggestions from Tilt users on the other ROMs (there does not seem to be many). Perhaps the Kaiser AKU.0.7.0 Cooked ROM?

for me personally go with Dutty's rom! They are fast, stable, lots of apps, and of course like any rom you can tweak away!

I have a tilt and i am using Dutty's, probably the best out there in my opinion

no you didn't understand what I was saying I said ROM not phone

I got my phone last night and spent a couple hours setting it up...
I got it Unlocked
Put the HTC firmware on it
Added the keyboard fix
Configured the gps
and signed up for media max for $20
and now im ready to go and piss on some iphones

Yep, nice ROM this is what I am using now. Camera works great too (this picture is pretty much middle of Austin, Texas that I took at my office parking lot).

[Q] continous autofocus video recording

our galaxy sl video recording is not having continous autofocus like sony ericsson phones. is there any application or mod available to make it continously autofocus. or u guys can make it up....?

What do you mean by continuous autofocus?
continuous auto focus is indeed available on i9003 I shoot tons of video last 6 months with this phone, what problem are you having?

Well, ron has a point firstly, this section has been given our own development and general unlike the previous section, So please request your queries in the general section from now on. Also ron has had his share of people who constantly avoid reading the rules so you may have to not bear your fangs at him for that.
The stock video doesn't autofocus btw. But you can pinch to zoom. So far the stock recorder isn't reliable? On a certain level the audio becomes fuzzy like trying to record a concert or festival would make the audio inaudible and annoying. But ofcourse no one uses their phone for such festives. You may need to research since the camera.apk from SonyE is driver dependent and not compatible with ours. Maybe CM7 version fixes this. Also you haven't mentioned what firmware you are on, that's your biggest mistake

stock video indeed autofocus have you ever shot video with it by changing subject distance? if yes then the camera automatically adjust focus distance that's called continuous autofocus, this requires certain light level else auto focus will fail that might be the reason OP complained.
Try shooting in daylight with 4 feet distance from subject now suddenly go closer to 1feet, the camera will auto focus to 1feet distance, now further go to 4 inch distance & camera will auto focus in macro mode, now come back to 4 feet it will again adjust the focus ...............hope its clear, at least my camera does & I have shot 1000s of video with this phone, truly amazing hd quality, sound is not of pro quality & the pinch to zoom is in reality cropping the video thus lowering the resolution.

@sgsl, Hmm I never knew that, Thanks for the info Most of the times I had to do the manual focus. The standard zoom just shows everything by default. Maybe it was because I was on Froyo when I did most my recording, Haven't done so in the GB series. Wonder if it's a new feature. Regardless, Thanks.

I am talking about froyo only last 6 months have been on xxkb3, just 2 days ago I updated to xxkpm, nothing has changed in GB the camera has always been like that.
Moreover manual focus you are talking about is only in still camera, in video cam you cant do any thing to focus, the cam does on its own.

First of all, stock video does auto-focus. Secondly, OP needs a hard lesson on gumption. Please post in the correct section *facepalm*

I'm on froyo, and the video recoder indeed autofocus during recordering.

Updated with Official 2.3.5 but ¿Where are the changes?

I've updated my Optimus 3D with official V21 (European Open), and, yes, it's good... But where are:
--- Google Talk is WITHOUT videocall!! Where is the Videocall...
--- Skype videocall WORKS native but... Only shows a black box without image when making calls.
--- Google Music APP is not compatible yet... I've downloaded it and works OK.
--- The 2.3.5 look?? I see only the LG 2.2.2 Look, i want the L&F of all 2.3.5 Android phones...
My opinion: Its the same... And its a joke...

If you can turn off the LG-Launcher, you will have the native GB-Look. Or install GB-Launcher from Market.

I agree...no differences at all. That is marketing only. My 2.2 works without a single glitch and looks exactly the same as GB 2.3.5. I do not understand those guys from LG...

Yes... Thats only marketing. I buy this great phone with frontal camera, but i can't use it since October... I'm waiting for make video calls with my family that's far away and i can't... Perfect, i can wait a little more...

what rom should i download??
is there any reason to get the official update instead of a cooked rom with the one leaked last week ??

Lol guys if it were about optical changes google wouldn't release new firmware versions but it would release new launchers everytime.... All in all sgs2 looks the same after each update so does xperia arc and htc phones and pretty much every single android phone and you know why? cause companies use the same alunchers for their phones. sony and samsung won't change their launchers for each new release. Do you think that htc releases a new sense version for each update? Firmware update has to do with making your phone more functional, faster, allowing it to make better use of its resources etc. If you want a new look just download go launcher x and find am eclair version somewhere to install. You won't be able to put apps to sd on eclair but hey... it will look different with the new launcher....

difference? photo quality is better, can use 3d button to make shots now
overall speed is bettre, bug with flash player 11 corrected, better connectivity, better battery life, better 3d/2d converter and now can watch 3d in 2d witout having split image etc ...

I hope when you say the photo quality is better you are referring to the 2d photo quality and how much better is the battery life.

Photo quality is better????????, well I see them as bad, with the pastel effect, it seems an oil painting but a photo.
And where is the fm radio?

I think the performance has improved a lot!

...question is who need FM radio ?
BTW this new rom is great. speed is nice. F**k up the EVO . I hope for early ICS

[Q] Camera issues with Runnymede AIO V6.1 Special Edition beta

Hi guys,
on last firday I installed Runnymede AIO V6.1 Special Edition beta on my HTC Desire coosing INT2SD-s and the camera option supporting 720p video.
I'm totally amazed except one little problem.
Thanks to a small real glass plate from england my Desire made very good photos but since installing the new ROM all pictures (indoor and outdoor) look a bit foggy and colors are a bit pale. Also the photos are not as sharp as before.
As I'm using my camera very much I need to get back my nice photo quality from before installing this ROM but I don't want to loose it's advantages what means that I don't want to go back to my old stock ROM.
Unfortunately I'm not allowed to ask in the development thread itself and should not write a pm so I'm hoping that someone reading this could help me.
I'm very sorry for my not so good english. If someone is not able to understand something or in case someone needs further information regarding this problem don't hesitate to ask.
