After installing the latest ROM upgrade, I think the camera is even worse than when I first got the IIi It really is just about unusable mainly due to grain (noise) particularly at low light levels. I saw on here (but now can't find) a post that suggested replacing the camera.exe with one from another similar device gives a great improvement. Is this worth trying, and if so can anyone point me to a sensible download
Thanks
Mike
Take a look at this. It may help,

Thanks Murat - that's the thread.
Anyone know if the models referred to relate to the XDA 2i - as far as I can tell it's either a Qtek 2020i or sometimes known as the Alpine. The thread mentions Imate.
Am I likley to screw everything up by simply renaming the existing camera.exe and copying in the one from this thread?
Thanks
Mike
What I did:
- Backed up
- Downloaded the "Camera_ampda_Win.CAB" from one of the first few posts
- Ran it on my XDA2i
It works fine, the colour noise is largely removed.
installed the win cab file which seems to have installed the new camera.exe file (27/5/05) .... as someone said it seems to do a bit of thinking goes through a brief flirtation with a really nice rendition of the scene, but then unfortunately settles on a pretty noisy final image ready for capture. Even worse mine then tells me 'Unable to capture. Not enough memory. 36001:111:0' This is so even if I set image capture on Small. Space detective is telling me there is massive amounts of free space everywhere.
Any ideas anyone?
regards
Mike
PS video seems to capture OK - and has a nice rendition
Hmm, mine just seems to do a bit of thinking then settle on the image with virtually no colour noise. I've not had any of the errors you mentioned...
I have got the latest ROM installed - might that be the difference?
Mike
Yeah I've not done any ROM updating of any sort, that's probably it.

My friend has imate jam from T-mobile. The Rom is 1.13.xx and the camera quality is awsome compared to normal (mine) magician from HTC ROM 1.12.xx
If the camera quality is because of new ROM then please guide me to where i may find this new ROM. thank you.
otherwise, how may i get the same quality of camera. I am already using the patch supplied at this forum.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/Shipped_ROMS/NL_11300_131_11200.exe
Frankly I think the Magician's camera is crap, no matter what ROM you're on .
Also here's a very detailed guide for a 'complete' upgrade procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=273911
thnx for the link... I have upgraded my rom to the rom in the link... now i feel that something is wrong, when i apply some theme from Today options, sometimes it gets stuck there and i have to reset. what might be the problem.
hi salimbaba.. can you tell your friend to please post some pictures taken using the magician.. thank you...
sorry
he sold it ... cant get any pics now. but i've compared the pics taken by mine and his... .his were better. Mine is QTek and his is T-Mobile
I am using a program call cool camara , it is better , movie even can set upto 29.9 fps .
Coolcamera is otherwise great, but has this distinct inability to focus on distant objects. For panoramas I had to revert to the old Camera app. Thankfully, this was during the day.
At least this version takes better pics under florescent light. <_<
is this coolcamera a freeware?can you post the link?thanks

Coolcamera is an unlimited trial program - trial version only cripples use of device as a webcam (25 seconds, autodisconnect). Camera otherwise works.
Is there any driver For the Graphic chipset of diamond2 like diamnod 1????
yep. do a search for ati driver. there are 2 on here. like a said please search.
anyone else have any other useful info on these drivers?
I just spent 45 mins searching all I can find are vague references
mostly to drivers for the fuze or Diamond Touch and several other
devices. (and back to this very thread that presently goes no where <BG>)
I'm finding it hard to believe this driver update,
if it exists and still makes make a significant difference
are not part of everyones tool box. (or an issue while benching Roms)
What I'm trying to find out is
Are there new Video drivers for Topaz (specifically the Pure)?
Do they make a demonstrable difference in performance (I'll run SPB Bench)
Are they potentially dangerous?.
(how would you remove them or restore original video drivers)
How much are they Rom dependent? (Tess?)
(or have they already been assimilated into newer Roms, why not?)
Can someone point us to a useful thread with a downloadable file
But I'll take any useful info from someone thats used or is using them
Thanks
KJL
Try These
Hi
Look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475493
Or try these cabs (taken from this website).
They all claim to enhance video performance. I suggest loading one and using it for a few days just to make sure.
Sorry I dont have any info on these as they were in my HTC folder.
Do a search for information.
Cheers
Aussie
Anybody used them before?
If it make such a difference why does htc doesn't put them on there website?

Thanks a million M8!
I've searched on the cab names and found some further info on each
but I get the feeling the results are a bit too sporadic and add a bit too much
system uncertainty at this stage of my recently installed new ROM.
I'm going to do more research or hopefully find someone who's used them first hand before going further at this point. I've yet to see one person claim
even a consistent 5% gain across the board and mostly only an apparent "application specific increase in smoothness"
(and a loss in others and various distantly related aps)
I really think video on my Tess Leo 2 is reasonably smooth as it is.
Thanks very much again for the pointers
but this change will have to wait on my system
(for younger and braver test pilots <BG>)

by that do you mean "no apparent ill effects"
how about any measurable or noticeable improvement?
how did you test?
I have to admit inspite of what I said earlier
I did try the "At0mAng Enhanced D3D Driver.cab"
It didn't show ANY improvement or change in the SPB video bench test
I removed it without any residual problems
But did not test the hologram program mentioned in the threads
Please keep us posted on your results
With 3 drivers maybe
"there's a pony in there somewhere <BG>"

Well... those driver only improve 3D performance that use OpenGL ES. anything else: No different.
First off am I the only one that wishes the original opengl would stick? Performance was alot better for that one (especially for the nexus wallpaper). Is getting the performance of the original live wallpaper we had and the sticking of the new patch possible? Right now that is the only problem stopping my phone from being the sex.
EDIT: Problem seems to happen when another widget is updated. Its not perfectly smooth, but not bad, but when a widget updates it really slows down the wallpaper to a noticeable halt. I doubt im the first to notice this, but for anyone else that really wants nexus wallpaper, having less widgets on your main page seems to help.
I moved the news+weather widget you see below to another page and it seems to jitter less.
I agree. Losing the performance from the new OpenGL isn't worth having LWP's. They might have a fix for this when Toast's Awesome Sauce ROM is complete.

Yeah I disagree with "there is no point in having them if it is slower".......the patch works pretty dam well with most wallpapers its just the peski nexus being alittle to slow to be usable for me. MagnusRagnarok my OP was not an attack on you at all. I am extremely thankful for what you have done, and hope you have not taken my post that way. I am just trying to see if more people feel the same way as me. For me getting the nexus one wallpaper running alittle bit better would get me closer to completing my phone.
Ill bump since I edited my first post. Hopefully someone finds it helpful.

Hey guys, I know a lot of us have been dying to get the nexus wallpaper working without having to do the opengl fix to make wallpapers stick, seeing as it made the wallpaper ran really choppy. I found a way to get it to stick, run smooth, and not have to change the opengl. I used the update zip posted by emerica6541 and it stuck right on and have ran smooth ever since. Granted he did modify the wallpaper so the lights are smaller, but I think it looks better that way on our heroes due to the smaller screen. It has survived multiple reboots, and over 30 mins of sleep time. I am running darch's legend rom though, so I'm not sure if this will work for damage's or flipz's roms, but its worth a shot.

This is the point of the thread, not to shoot down other's hard work but to improve on it....I think thats what xda is about.

Just a note though, when you first set the wallpaper, your phone will freeze for a min, then it'll take you to the bootscreen. Once it reloads, you should be good to go.

One thing that is weird is that the LWP stick with the old openGL if its plugged into the computer. Does the phone not sleep if its plugged into a computer?

Well your right, so I used the old openGL and performance was alot better, BUT it did not stick. Is it possible your phone is not sleeping?
hello everyone. heres another one of those crazy things i do here. this time i built on damage so i could use dconfig again. I had the idea to put this together when i saw koni's transparent mod, then the aosp zip and burst's theme. This is mish mash of all of that work+ some of what i do. since its built on damage and the biggest add on to theme was burst's theme. But while i was ripping them apart i realized that the aosp theme was basically using the same framework as burst with a few tweaks. Then got it to boot. I did have some serious issues with the kbs and the notifier but i learned what i was doing and fixed it then decided to post...Didnt take as long to finish this(about a day), because i didnt do ALL the themeing. I just found it and mixed it all together with some of my own tweaks added in both visually and performance wise.
HERES WHY YOU SHOULD FLASH:
1 CUSTOM BOOT
1 CUSTOM HTC KB (THEMED GREEN)
1 LATIN_IME MT KB FROM DROID_X
1 HTC_IME MOD
4 INTERACTIVE LWP FROM...(sorry i forget what device)
1 INVISABLE taskbar by KONIKUB
1 THEMED HTC clock widget(by me)
1 THEMED rosie(by me)
INCLUDED APPS
adw. its my fave and most stable imo
andro for file browsing and app backup
dconfig for tweaking(thank treve)
updater for new roms and themes ota
sys tray (to monitor ram)
battery widget (to monitor battery%)
titanium backup
left the sprint apps for once....
sorry all, i forgot to toss the nextel tikl in(ill toss up an update.zip with it)
i didnt throw in all the extra crap this time so this rom is a normal size(170mb)
screens
NOTE: THIS THREAD IS FOR IMPROVEMENT AND FEEDBACK ON THIS ROM TO HELP MAKE IT BETTER. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO POST MAKE SURE YOU FLASH IT FIRST. THIS IS AN ATTEMPT BY ME TO KEEP THE THREAD ON TOPIC AND USEFUL TO THOSE THAT CHOOSE TO USE THIS MOD. IF YOU DIDNT FLASH IT WHAT KIND OF HELP COULD YOU POSSIBLY OFFER IN THE WAY OF IMPROVEMENT? PLEASE FLASH BEFORE POSTING!!!!!THANK YOU.....

Thanks and happy flashing

That's unfortunate. I love the look of the ROM otherwise.
Sorry to be the debbie downer but I think it looks garbage. :/ A bunch of poorly done photoshop filters slapped into a single rom. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
i must say this looks better than the previous RED theme.
so do I flash this by itself? or do I flash it over DamageControl's ROM??
Damn..this is nice and fast. The customizations is great. Nice job!
Do you know where I can get the HTC News Widget? I don't see it in here.
Thanks
i flashed this and the screen does not look like those pictures on post one. the taskbar is white with white fonts so the time is invisible.

if anything you should be downloading the rom and then ripping it apart and learning how to do what i do. Then MAYBE ill have a little respect for your opinion and what you have to say about me or my work.I am not a dev nor to i claim to be.it is your choice to choose this rom. so what was your reason?
your right; those 1000+photos did take me some time to filter EACH INDIVIDUAL FILE,then integrate the two themes and add konis transparent taskbar(took me a bit) then make it all boot. ive not had bootloop with neither of my mods so far on evo.had it all the time on cdma hero
thank you for your opinion and keeping on topic.but did you flash the rom? as the op states; its a prerequisite to posting in this thread. If not please follow the rules or dont post. Thanks

So far it performs well w/o configuring dconfig. im on 70% battery after heavy use.not sure if thats good or bad. Its acceptable to me, but not remarkable like damager.FYI
Had a lot of problems, lots pf FCs and random system restarts.....
i havent had any fc's yet. please list your procedure so i can see what the problem is. i test everything extensively before i put it up for others. that would be very bad if i put up roms before i got them working then told pps i support them...

wasnt sure if i was just crazy, but i posted this in my finisher thread as a bug i found 3days after running it. When i went use a site that needed full flash(shockwave) adobe test said my sware was 10.blablabla and that it installed correctly. well i used my site and tried to use a java music player and when it goes to play, browser dissappears (no fc just gone) It worked fine before, but i thought maybe i was mistaken. no one responded so i figured it was just a problem for me. I NEVER edited anything with the wlan-ko, the browser or anything internet releated, so i cant narrow down the problem. Also, this is a damage based so not sure whats going on with this issue. if i find anything ill definately pm you. if you hear anything ill ask you do the same. thanks.

Guys,
I cleaned up the thread. Please stay on topic. Thank you.
So, I had patched the previous version of aNote but now this new version is out, offering sync etc. I was asked if I could also patch this one.
So, here it is. Note that this version is actually less friendly towards stock/CM ROMs as it makes a bunch of calls to proprietary APIs and I had to work around that. Furthermore, depending on your screen resolution you will find that not only does it look weird on smaller screens, it also gets somewhat confused by extra high res
I may try to patch these behaviors as well if deemed insufferable.
Anyway, this version is smali-patched, signed and zipaligned.
BTW, the apk is 35MB. Apparently someone has never heard of proguard.

I had a closer look at the app's assets and, frankly, it's pretty scary. It looks like they only cared about one resolution and everything is hardcoded using absolute coordinates and sizes.
you are awesome ! , its works
Really appreciate the efforts for making it work!
Wrong reply, please ignore.
Thanks for the patch. Is it possible to make the font or app display bigger on nexus 5?
So maybe it is more Possible, that the Developers from that App will someday do an Version for all Divices and put it in Play Store.
@cyansmoker Do you happen to know how to fix the layout and DPI of this app for the galaxy S4? It looks really weird now and everything is only taking up 3/4 of the screen. Lots of people on S4 and Note 3 have the same issue but I haven't found any solutions on XDA yet. Would really appreciate it if you could look into this.
doesn't even install on my Lenovo a660 4.0.4. says wrong syntaxes.

Cyansmoker, can you help? Note3
The app works as intended on LG Optimus G Pro. Fills the screen just fine but everything's too small to actually click comfortably.
It works on HTC One
First of all Thanks for the app. I agree with others this is the most usefull note taking app. I used to use it regulary on iPhone.
Since i have moved to android, I could not find any great alternatives for note.
So I am glad to find this forum with their helpful members.
Well, I can confirm that this version it works perfectly & syncing as well on my HTC One.:good:
:highfive: Thanks Lads, i am very happy with it even if the graphic is small, love i!
Just want to say a big thank you for making this work. This was the only app I couldn't find a replacement for when I switched to android. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S3, and the only problem I've noticed so far is that the right edge of the screen is cut off in portrait mode - the right arrow to navigate to the next note is not visible. Doesn't seem to cause any other trouble though. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for this! I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing issues when trying to add location.
I can add my current location fine, but when I want to search for an address, I get an error every time!
"Address information could not be imported due to a network error or error in the Google map server. Please try again later."
Wondering if there are any fixes for this, or is it just me?
Thanks again!
