Unread SMS in an Empty Inbox - General Topics

The picture says it all really, 0 messages and 1 unread. How did I manage that?
Any ideas how to fix?

This is a wm5 bug and there was a tool that fixed it in one of the fourms.
Yes a uploaded file, I tried search and found nothing (maybe you will have more luck)

i think it's fixunreadcount.exe

Sounds right but search wont find it (for me that was).
Has anybody seen that thread so that I can post it to wiki, seems like a good tool.

i read about it here: http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=81113&hl=
and here: http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=82090&hl=

Well it now can be found on our ftp site
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/fixunreadcount.zip

Many thanks for everyone's help. That has fixed it.

Thanks mda 3 user for the bug fix

That file did not work for me. It ran, said there were no problems under text/mms/email (I don't use email so that was empty anyway) but I still had the error. Even tried after a reboot and it did not work. I do keep all of my old messages so it may have had a problem with the amount that are in there.
I did fix it however. I used PIMBackup to back everything up. Then restored from the backup using the default option which deletes all existing messages. This seems to reset the counters and it all works fine.
Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
Jez.

fixunreadcount.exe didn't work for me either so here is what I did:
1) Backup using Sprite. Uncheck messages so they aren't included in the backup.
2) Hard reset the device
3) Restore using Sprite
4) Re-setup your email accounts
How to hard reset (from the wiki):
Hard Reset **NB** This cannot be performed while the device is connected/charging!**
* Press and hold both soft keys
* Using a stylus, press and hold the soft reset button at the bottom of the phone
* Keep all three buttons pressed until the keypad lights turn off and then flash
* Release the soft reset button while still pressing the soft keys
* Let go of the two soft keys once the message "This operation will delete all your personal data, to manufacturer default" appears on screen
* Finally, press the green call button to perform the hard reset, or press other key to cancel

Unread email count incorrect

Has anyone seen this before (windows mobile 2005 on htc wizard (xv6700) and i think i'm on aku2 (whatever the last verzion official update was)). My unread email count is currently at 2 unread messages however when i go to look for the messages there are not any unread messages in my inbox (nor anywhere for that matter). For the life of me i am unable to get this fixed. does anyone know why this might be happening? Any help would be appreciated
-D
I am also having this problem on my T-Mobile Wing - it came up about 2 weeks after I got it, and then was fixed when I did a hard reset (obviously) but just came back again last night.
Both times, I show 1 unread email in my Outlook email account - no problems with my other POP3 accounts. The 1 unread shows both on my Today screen and in the Folder view of the Messaging app.
I don't know if this is related, but I have also noticed that sometimes email which has been deleted will appear again as unread messages following a soft reset. it would be interesting to know where this information is stored.
I have wandered around in the registry a little bit, looking for anything that might relate, but didn't have any luck.
Bumping this for it's now happening on my Titan with dcd 3.2.0 and the HTCHome plugin. I've tried the freeware ap FixUnreadCount.exe but it didn't work. I've also peeked around the registry to see if I could change something but to no avail.
got the problem here on raphael wm6.1 Says I have an unread message that I do not have and i ran the message cleaner that basically clears all messages and still says i have it.

Incoming call notification box problem

Hey guys,
I'm clearly a newbie here, been so for sumtime trying to learn while looking for tweaks and solutions, and I've been trying not to post so that I don't stupidly ask answered questions but unfortunately I have a problem that I need urgent fix. I've tried to search but haven't found what I need.
So here it is:
When I receive calls, the caller id and number seemed to be crunched together and unreadable under 1 line instead of usual 3 or 4. So I cant see who is calling me or from which number. This is rather important for my business to decide who to ignore and who to address properly.
I hope somebody can help me fix this.
For added info, I have made few registry changes and the last ones involve changing soft keys 112 and 113, and also installing HTC action screen before this problem.
Thanks guys!
I've never heard of this problem occuring, but I would recommend you skip stright to it and hard reset your PDA.
Backup all your files by connecting your PDA to your computer and copying over all the files you want to backup.
To backup all your PIM data (appointments, contacts, messages, call logs, speed dials and tasks) use a program called PIM Backup - details of this program can be found on this thread - Click Here
To hard reset a HTC Polaris, insert your stylus into the softreset hole and press it whilst pressing the 'Windows' and 'OK' buttons. Let go of the buttons 1-2 seconds after taking out the stylus. The send button is the green pickup call button, which you will be required to press to confirm you want to go ahead with the hard reset.
Hope this helps
I was hoping I didn't need to resort to that but I guess if that's the quickest easiest way.
Thanks for your help!!
Btw, which buttons do you mean by "windows button" and "Ok button" ??
Sorry thats the only thing I can advise you to do, but at least you will know that its probably the second best thing to do (apart from re-flashing the ROM).
Regarding the 'Windows' and 'OK' buttons, it is my bad that you probably cannot find them - the XDA Orbit 2 has these buttons, but the HTC Polaris has the 'GPS' and 'Internet Explorer' buttons instead. Basically, they are the two buttons under the pickup and hangup buttons.
Attached is a picture which may help you further.
Hope you get this problem sorted out.

Soft reset/shut down-cab

Anyone that could give me tips for an soft reset cab?
I now use xdashutdown but on my TD2 the symbols are tiny.
I am looking for a cab with soft reset and power off in the same app,not just soft reset.
And yes,i have been searching, but find nothing.
Hi,
Try to search A-A Reset
BYE, Bobo
Have tried that, but in TF3D i can not see A-A Reset in the program list.
I must use file explorer to look it up.Even if i install the A-A reset cab...
I want something i can put in the program menu,so i can reach it fast.
wouldn't it be easier to just press and hlod the power button ? It closes the phone and when you press it again, there you have it : a soft reset. (only one button, and no installation needed)
It's a .exe no .cab.

It 'true, but the virtual button preserves the hardware key, especially for those who make frequent soft reset.
And also you can schedule
Because my cooking activities I've to soft-reset lot.
One of the first programs I put in a ROM is ClearTemp.
Has a option to soft-reset.

forgot where i got this, but it is here from xda developers... but this is the best so far... real credit to whoever made this, sorry I forgot the creator hehehe.. I am just passing this must have app to you guys...
what I do, is change the right soft key of TF3D2 from camera to Shut Down using some registry tweak, so I can shut down real fast without using the hardware power button...
cheers
I use My Soft-reset and it works well on D2.
HD Tweak comes with a separate app 'HD Soft Reset'. It appears in your programs and can therefore be saved as a shortcut in Start/Programs separate from HD Tweak. I use it, and it works fine! Just another idea to add to those above.

I use wei's soft softreset (freeware)

does work fine, I hate the ugly button... (= small blown up button)
- empty - sorry!

[REQ] is there a way to restore HTC sense to its original settings?

Hi,
Ive installed a number of 'Touch X' files etc etc to my Leo and its messed up my front page on HTC sense, i cant access the menu, change any quicklinks and the callender is slightly hiding the weather. I've tried uninstalling the files but a lot of them say 'cannot uninstall' or 'not uninstalled completely' etc.
Is there a way to restore HTC Sense to how it was originally?n Thanks in advance!
Try disabling Touch Sense in the Today settings, and try uninstalling then.
There are some files you can delete as well which remove the configuration, but without taking the TouchX files out first, it probably won't work.
thank you, il give that a go
it still gives the message that the file "was not completely removed"
any other suggestions?
check this thread for the original manila files as backup (also X Touch):

sure man
there is a way to hard restart your phone which delete ALL personal data and return your phone in factory defaults conditions
check here xda-developers > Leo, HTC HD2 > HD2 General
at the first Post [REF] *Leo Hints & Tips* - Things you may not have known. Updated 7th January.
look for the tip Number 15
15. How to Hard Reset your Phone
To hard reset your phone which means to delete ALL personal data and settings and have the phone in factory default conditions as if you turned on the phone for the first time after purchasing, press the following buttons:
1. With the device turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then briefly press the POWER button.
2. Continue pressing the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons until you see this message on the screen:
"This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to the manufacturer default settings. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer defaults, or press other keys to cancel."
3. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
4. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
You can also use Clear Storage to reset your device back to factory default settings.
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap All Settings.
2. On the System tab, tap Clear Storage.
3. Enter “1234” and then tap Yes.

Soft Keys not Working

Hello,
Last week my phone went off because the battery was drained to 0.
Then next morning I connected the phone to my car's charger and when I turned it on, I figured that the soft keys are not working anymore.
I have tried multiple methods like clearing cache, factory reset (through Settings and Recovery), but none of that worked.
I am running the latest stock firmware (5.1.1 U2COH2).
Did this happen to any of you before? Is there an app that allows me to reconfigure the keys? Could this be a hardware issue?
I appreciate your response.
If you are rooted, you could try reflashing the kernel. Works fir me. Sprint variant
I'm not rooted. I believe it's a hardware issue, unless somebody else has a different opinion.
i have the same problem on the recent app softkey (left botton) . i made all kind of reset, but nothing change, sometime i have a "crazy" soft button that start to work like a spirit! or stop to work.
i tried also "safe mode" and a little less, but same (random) problem!
The only way, i find, before to go to assistance (or to put in the garbage!!!) is to disable the softkey.
i find this on xda:
Use a root explorer (I used X-plore with root enabled).
Go to
/system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
Backup file Generic.kl ( copy it as a .bk or something )
Then open the file Generic.kl using the text editor within X-plore.
Then find the word APP_SWITCH linking with the code number (mine is key 254), change APP_SWITCH to MENU. Then reboot and your are done. The Recent Apps button is now back to being a Menu button. Life is great.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/how-to-remap-buttons-t3084638/page4
put"#" before key 254 and the key stop to exist, and stop to crash my balls
if someone has a different way to fix is wellcome for me.
thanks!
