Has anyone else noticed that the bundled version of MS Voice Command is the US and not the UK version? As I can't be bothered to fake an American accent every time I want to call a contact or dial a number I wanted to uninstall it - bundled software so no option; install over it - can't.
I have flagged this to Palm, and I'm just curious whether anyone else cares - so I am putting up a poll.
Many thanks!

Hi,
has anyone from the UK managed to purchase Voice Command and if so, how !
cheers
Russ.
I haven't but would also be very interested to see if anyone has, since M$ say it is available for US only- why is that, does anyone know?

Hi,
I used microsoft voice command...but it didnĀ“t work out...many "screen" mistakes..
It only works about 2-3 weeks....after that i press the green button to phone somebody and i got a hard reset... :x
i never used it again and my mda is working fine now....
Am in the uk, i have been using the voice command since mid 2004 from 1.01 to 1.5upgrade. it works for me. Though its not perfect but the 1.5 version is a great inprovement. I currently have a cold .. tried saying the following commands "what time is it", "play pink floyd" it seems to work for me.
sometimes i tend to pronunce names or files names like the program would, so media player would be "midia pleyer" or "Gwen Stefani" Gwen Stephanie
at least i don't have to train the program
i personally recommend Fonix VoiceCentral 2.0
this program not only allows you to do what Microsoft Voice command can do, it has a feature where u can mark those program/contacts that you will use often and unmark those that you dont wish to use at all.
this will help to minimize the confusion of calling name that is close to each other.
secondly. it also allows you to record your voice for the particular contacts or programs, so that you can easily call them out.
The reason why Microsoft disallow the program to be exported to world wide is because they are trying to control the piracy, if i am not wrong
Keith
I use vocie command myself and have had no problems, no voice training and it works perfectly, quite cool just saying "Play album by blah" and WMplayer just fires up and belts the tracks out.
I use my XDAIIs as a MP3 player and have it picks my voice up even in my coat pocket walking down a busy street.
Only minor gripe is that as it's only sold in US the voice dialling won't recognise UK dialling codes (only us formats) so this means you can only voice dial numbers form contacts
Got my copy on one of those extended trials  ,if you can't get hold of a copy let me know and we'll sort something
well, if the program is intended for US, even there is a way to sort the program, it might not work well with in my country.
you know what i mean
Seems never seen any version of PPC currently support Line 1, Line 2 feature which even a USD50 bucks Nokia phone has this feature, does anyone know anything about this?
Are you talking about a "call waiting" feature? If it it is you'll find it in every phone-pda available
Orange in the UK support the Line2 feature on thier network and each phone listed on the web Orange site with its features mention Line2 when supported by that particular device.
The PPCs that Orange supply give no mention of Line2 so I guess they don't support it.
Hi,
Is there a 3rd party app for fix it?.
Regards,
Taguapire.
I have the UK version of MSVC 1.6 and when I try dial a number, e.g. say "dial 282 999 999" it insists on putting a zero in front of the number and reads back 0282 999 999. Is there a registry fix to stop this happening? I notice the US version doesn't do this. I'm using the UK version as I find the US version not very accurate with the voice recognition for my accent.
I've started a thread over at ppcgeeks for this issue, and was suggested to come over here as this site is frequented by many more Europeans.
Problem:
US Roms come with US voice command. I'd like UK.
Has anyone had any luck toggling between the two? Does it take a full fledged cab install / or is it as simple as changing an executable or speech files.
I don't want to lose any functionality that's come along with more current versions of VC (i used to have UK VC 1.5), but I really really want the British voice.
Any help appreciated.

Hi,
I am wondering why there ain't any working answering machine's for wm yet ? iSecretary was one which I guess is not working in wm6.5. Does anyone else know more about it ? I understand it might be duplicate thread, but since there's no latest posts on any of them I opened up new one hopping to catch eyes of u ppl....
Actually, there is an answering machine. Its awesome too. I got it free from my carrier. If I don't answer my phone after like 4 rings, it picks up and takes a message for me. Then, after it beeps and lets me know theres a message, I push a few buttons and a can listen to them. Then I can delete them, and start all over!
I can't seem to remember what its called though. Hmm....
Maybe someone else can help me with figuring out the name of this?
Wow, never thought about this, this would be really nice. It would be a good way to get voice mails recorded since it would be locally stored and not server stored like voice mail. I'd really like to know if their is one in circulation.
Edit: Apparently it's impossible due to hardware limitations of HTC phones, and seems Gigabyte's phone is the only one that can do it. More information here.
guess the reason for lack of more options is that most operators today offer answering machine at the operator end so it works even if the phone is off
like I mentioned already iSecretary worked fine until wm6.5 even in HTC. I used it in my HTC Fuze with wm 6.1. But it doesn't work in wm6.5. I don't know why. My operator doesn't give such voice message service for free. I am searching for a software like iSecretary that works with wm6.5.
seems nobody is interested in my post ???
Use google voice then, it's free and works when your phone is off. Since your provider doesn't give you voicemail, you should be able to use GV as your voicemail provider - heck, Sprint gives me voicemail for free, but I still have GV setup as my primary voicemail. For free, Sprint has a deal with Google.
you could try YouMail.com, i have it and its free for the basic service which is voicemail. you can customize the voicemail greeting also, its great, i get a laugh everytime....
both YouMail.com and Google Voice doesn't support my country yet. Is there any software that works like answering machine ?

Ah... yea I guess I take for granted the fact that all these new services seem to always get piloted in the US of A. Sorry... I don't know of anything else :S
Doesn't anybody give interest to make an answering machine like iSecretary ?
I too would like an answer-phone software & I'm surprised HTC never made the most of this issue & resolved the hardware problems & bundled an answer-phone software of it's own.
G-Smart done it back in WM5 times & it was a good tool & marketing niche.
