Is it possible to change the Left button on today screen from e-mail to SMS?

Standard registry hack, check the wiki, or check Buzz's site for the soft key control panel app.

actually, vijay I venture to say that these are hardly standard!
Palm actually overlays the standard soft-keys with their own via the screen dial plugin .dlls (I forgot their exact name): it's the same plugin for operator/bt, dial lookup, etc, they are all tied together.
So, if you were to do that standard reg trick you would only change what is underneath and in fact, you won't even find the registry entries for the softkeys if you look.
My mistake, I didn't pay attention to the Cheetah/Treo forum!
I'll leave the question open for a while for someone else to respond to.
If it doesn't happen, I'll have a look into it. I'm working on some other OS hacks right now...

I'm 99% sure no one has looked at it or rather anyone with any real skills (myself, definitely excluded form this camp, lol), so if you want to lend your expertise to figuring this one out, it'd be welcomed.
I've seen this request numerous times on other boards, so I know it's a popular request.
Case in point, your VJSlippyPalm is a fanatastic replacement for the "Messaging" button but alas for now, I have to use AEB+ to assign it to a different hard key.
I can say that this OS has some very interesting and strange registry changes from "typical" WM5 devices. In that sense it's kind of fun to work on ;-)
Can someone post a screenshot of the softkeys in action, or list what kind of things they say, so I can find out how they're created.
I hope VJSlippyPalm is useful, first bit of code I've released in a long time, but it seemed useful! AE+ is no bad thing, the coder is a great guy.

VJSlippyPalm is very useful.
In fact, if we ever get threaded SMS fully working on the 700wx, I and others are sure to use it!

The left is nothing special: it simply says "Messaging" and takes you to the Inbox.
If it's the app that says "ignore with text message" or whatever on incoming calls, it's the file *PhoneCanvas*.dll (I can't remember the full filename, but it's obvious).

I highly doubt this works as we don't have these reg values!

Right, I think it might also involve activecallplugin.dll and diallookupplugin.dll, at least those are the ones that involve the Green button/call history, Carrier logo, some phone functions and I believe involve the Soft Key overlays.
The "ignore with text message" I think is only invoked during a phone call, but the above are used normally.

Well I guess the thread asked how to change the left button asignment and that is what this does and leaves you the Email option when you press it too. It also gives the option of SMS or MMS . I like it ) You are correct in it not being able to change the right one though.

Think 750v's left softkey kind of "locked" to email.
Lets said if u used saman WM5 new menu, and renamed the button to "SMS". And also lots of shortcuts. The left softkey will changed the "SMS". But when u pressed. It will still show something as below. THe WM5 New menu will only comes out when u select the SMS.

Though I did note a way to change it so that it can open Messaging and SMS like above.

phonecanvasplugin.dll appears to only control the layout of the phone app itself. I tried it and it doesnt include the ignore with sms option. it just changed the phone app by adding the talk button and changed the hold to talk also.

activecallplugin.dll and diallookupplugin.dll these to appear to have no control over the phone app itself and are today plugins leaving me to think that thats all the control is the today contact lookup and well I havent a clue what the activecallplugin does because it didnt appear to change anything on my apache. btw phonecanvasplugin appears to control the carrier logo in the phone app itself because there was little changes in the Sprint PCS on my phone. Notice the difference in the size of the Sprint PCS at the top, its bigger on the Treos. (see the screenies....First two are the standard apache dialer app, last two are the treos dialer app)
I have been looking to get the ignore with sms for awhile and still cannot seem to find the extact file/s that control it and apparently they also control how the context menus work.

Did you try a hex search through the dll I mentioned?
There must have been a reason I mentioned it - I don't think it's in the dll itself, but in a mui.
I can think of a way to heavily hack the dll to make it do what you need, but it wouldn't be pretty, so I'll leave it as an open question for now.

- Send and receive EMS (operator logos, picture messages, CLI icons)

- Send and Receive vCard to/from PPCPE & Normal mobiles as SE, Nokia...etc
- Send and Receive Appointments
Finally, I have some suggestions for the next version...:
- "Mobile #" to be selected from contacts.
- The ability to send to more than one "Mobile #".
- Increase the box size of "Message".

however i hope that you can remove it to avoid confusion, coz the link to download the application is a direct link, which i would update often so everyone can download the newest version from there, uploading it would result in multiple versions, harder to control

The message which I added last night didn't get send this morning.
Anyway, I was using beta version 0.2 and now I have uninstall it and using version 0.3.
I am retesting with a message dated 2004-11-02 18:38:38 now. Doesn't seems to be working. Is there some indication that tells me that the scheduled message is sent?
Perhaps a user guide is good?
Anyway, the standard beta user wish-list:
(a) Multiple receipents for same message
(b) Support for Extended SMS
(c) Support for MMS
(d) A bigger text box
(e) A more user-friendly date/time schedule selection
(f) Priority shifting. After sms is schedule, perhaps we can change the priority for those with identical timing?
(g) Re-editing of submitted SMS.

I can't replicate the problem of SMS not sending out (at least on v0.3BETA), i've scheduled 12 SMS in quickk successions of every 1 min and all 12 SMS got sent out (to myself :lol: )
I will now schedule a SMS for the next day to see if it's any case of lagging concerns. (Shouldn't be a problem becoz i've scheduled SMS 1 week in advance before in my Alpha version, but i will look out for potential problems)
Right now, my current 0.4BETA-PENDING version will remove schedule of SENT SMSs. Meaning, if your SMS is sent out, it will no longer exists in the grid. If this kind of indication ok for you?

Thanks for your feedback Application is based on .NET CF, so might be a memory hog, you using a XDA or XDAII? As app is build on a XDAII, it might be *not* too optimised for other makes of PPCPE. but i will look into it with a iPAQ6365 and see how it works. Sorry about that
As for contacts, it might just be in the next version, so long i dun receive any critical bug reports

No probs, I can live with the size, since I will close the program after sending my SMS. Look forward to the contacts addin.
Also what about standard phrases (i.e. meet me at...) just like in the standard app. Does your app. save the messages sent???? If not might be good to have an in/outbox

and to the OP i think there isnt a Icon Pack...you might have to Download a home/launcher like Openhome or Pandahome....

You honestly think I don't know the answer..... I don't want sound like a jerk, but...
The reason I did it that way was because the OP probably never bothered looking for "icon packs" or whatever himself first. You new users should learn to use the search button and Google before coming here and asking a very simple question, to which you yourself can answer.
Believe me I know the answer, I've made more themes and helped more people out than you and the OP combined, I just don't like/want new users to think that XDA will always give them the answer flat out, without them ever doing anything.
And yes, there is an icon pack -- you don't have to use Openhome or Pandahome. Again, this is where searching comes into play. I'll let you do it yourself, since you seem to think you know "the answer".

Im very capable of using google and the search function on this site if thats what i wanted to do. Im sorry i dont have hours to spend sifting through a 1000 websites from a google search. I figured this thread would allow people to post what they are using and some of their favorites. Nothing wrong with having a consolidated thread for specific information that im sure would benefit others as well.

If you're looking at 1000 pages (exaggerating)... you're using the wrong keywords, thus the reason for it taking so long.
Try looking around XDA in general (and not just the Evo forums) to find your answer. There are MORE than enough icon packs around here, you need to find them, download them, and modify the size of the icons to make sure they fit the Evo's resolution.
You can also you use google to find website icon packs or other icon packs, which again need to be modified and recreated to fit the Evo. You could use the 2.1 icons from the Hero forums, which again need to be modified for the Evo.
Your "icon packs" are everywhere -- all you have to do is find and modify them.

All you had to do is tell him w/o throwing the "LMGT4Y" link thats kinda old now...if it annoyed you that he posted a question...do like everyone else....Ignore the thread...and he probably looked around already to find an answer which lead him no choice but make a thread to look for answers....Not everybody suppose to know everything when they walk in this site...gotta start from somewhere...Im not trying to start mess in here...its just annoying when pple say do a google search(even though 90% already did before making a thread)....just be Nice, if not Dont say anything at all... it'll save you from wasting that 5 to 10 mins of making that link

Take a guess as to how I found my answer?
I used the search button.
I know not everyone knows everything from day one (I was in the same boat) -- however searching here on XDA or Google will bring up your answer (9/10 times) -- especially with something like "icon packs". Don't tell me that someone hasn't asked the exact question in some form or another here on XDA. My point is... people need to learn to use the search function and enter the proper keyboards, doing so will result in finding what you need. Period.
By the way, I think I've been pretty civil about all this; I could have just said... "Fu***** retards" and left, you know?
You should try making a "LMGT4Y" link, you'll realize it takes 30 seconds at best.

I took it as the OP was asking for our opinions on which icon pack we like, not asking how/where he can find icon packs. If you have nothing constructive to say, why did you even bother to post here? This didn't help at all. Its just like Cancer to this site.
I prefer Gloss icon pack myself.

this image shows my folder icons. each takes me to a folder via apporganizer with that group of my apps.
This one has individual apps.
I get all my icons from Iconfinder. Some on the site are purchase but the large majority are free. you can also find icon packs in many of the theme threads on XDA that are set up to match the themes people have created.
Having done this the other day i feel it needs a guide as i used one for the hermes and another device (Desire i think) This may fix the location showing as united kingdom,plus when its not being very precise.
WORKING ON Sense 3.5/3.6/4.0 all with the same file!!

Paste that into the Code table
Find another place in your country to get the following info and copy it into your line..
Timezone,Timezoneid,Country and if it applies..State.UK doesn't need a state its value is null
For the longitude Latitude co ordinates i used http://www.freegeocoder.co.uk/ Once you have those you must add them into your line.Make sure your timezone matches another place in your country otherwise it wont fetch the data
save the item then push back to your phone (or rootexplorer it back) then reboot!
When it has rebooted you may have to delete the clock then add the location you have made

If you are really struggling im trying to build a comprehensive database for the UK.Tell me your location and i may have added it!
EDIT: If you are struggling to add your location, Find the Code for your nearest city,Keep your GPS Coordinates and it will work.I used the code for HULL, Accuweather said it was 6 Degrees kept gps coordinates for Hornsea and it said 8 Degrees. HOPE THIS HELPS!
If anybody knows of an app you can copy GPS Coordinates with please let me know! Would make it a fair bit easier for me

Trying to find the old accuweather codes is a pain in the backside lol
Trying to work on it now, Seems it doesn't like it if the code is UK001 as most are that.Take back my bit about GPS but i will keep trying to find the accuweather code for Hornsea.

Tried again this morning with the last file that you gave me and everything worked fine! I'm sure it must have been an error that i made last night.
When i searched the net for a solution for my original problem, there was many people on many forums with different HTC devices having the same problem as I, namely, the weather clock showing 'United Kingdom' rather than the place were they lived. A working solution was nowhere to be found!
You're my hero, this has been bugging me for a long time now!

My weather clock widget and weather widget now displays my home town after i have selected it however my weather lock screen displays 'United Kingdom' regardless of what i have set. Upon reboot, both widgets default to 'United Kingdom.'
Ideally, i would like my device to display my home town when i set the widgets to 'my location' but this is still not happening.
I suspect the root of the problem lies a little deeper! Any thoughts?

See if getting a precise location fixes it.If thats the case im sure there is a mod for better AGPS Location.

Thinking about it i have put it to about 8 decimal places.You could try lowering your GPS Coordinates to 2 or 3 decimal places as it may be a little too precise

Also, When widgets are set to 'my location' when i am 'out and about' the display often gets a fix on places which are not in the database so they must be pulling data from somewhere else.
navigate to /data/data/com.google.android.location/files and delete the 'wifi' and 'cell' files.Ill look more into it when i'm at my home computer.Looking at this 10" screen for sql is driving me crazy lol
There must be another file somewhere to do with the weather that it pulls from. I do see what you mean,Bude isn't in the database yet its displaying Bude fine

If you take my fixed file from the OP you can scroll down to the bottom and look at the last entry,Edit as needed.If it doesn't display your location then find the nearest city to you add that location in but with YOUR GPS COORDINATES and Your location under the name column.It should be fine

Your location should be this. EUR|SI|SI000|MARIBOR
Also you need to Add the city on the weather / location list.Open weather,press add,type the city name (Mine Bonesy yours i think is Maribor) add that then refresh.If you get "No weather available" Try to find a city or town on accuweather nearby then just use that but with your GPS Coordinates.It will display the weather differently

Ok mate Need to get to the bottom of it lol.My aim is to make a script to do it for you (if at all possible) or an online database anyone can add to (again if possible)
Try the file below.It seems the only other Slovenian entry has teh Timezone as Europe/Sarajevo so ive tried that and removed the @ in the name column.You can try adding these back in now.If i got it right its 21 degrees there!!

Had to create a new community, apparently you can't change visibility to public after it's been created as private.
Hello world! I just (beta) released my own, first Android application to Play Store!
As of now it's in beta and I need your help!
I need testers!
I have created a group/community on Google+ where everyone is free to join (although it seems I have to accept individually.. Annoying!)
There you can find links to the beta signup and the app on playstore and you need to join the community to be able to download the Beta.
The plan is to take the app out of beta as soon as possible but that requires some serious testing and without you that's not possible!
So give me all feedback, even the worst kind! Bugreports, screenshots, hugs! Everything!
You can also share your ideas and thoughts. There is also a changelog section for updates!
Anyone speaking all but Swedish and English are very welcome to help translating the app!

I just downloaded this app and it looks very nice for a beta application.
I'd like to make one suggestion however. I can already see the security question you chose to implement in the security section of the app is going to cause a lot of fuss by the general public. I can already see people being weary putting their real credit card # in because they will think you will be able to see this answer. Then they are going to put in a fake #, forget what they used, and get locked out. This results in a 1 star review.
My suggestion is to create a list of 10 or so predefined questions they can answer. Even better let them type in their own question that they can answer.

Hi. Thank you for your time!
This has crossed my mind and had me thinking, but then I remembered the 4 last digits are the only ones that show (most of the times I can remember, anyhow) if you add a creditcard to a online site, for example. Plus its basically impossible to forget! So I thought this would make no difference, but I'm afraid you're right.
Other security questions will be in the next update (or after that one), because this is a very big deal. And ofcourse the ? button will be removed, its only for developer/beta purpose.

its awesome but also on my device the floating button is like @handgun50 screenshoot, on my tablet floating button is just black weird looking and just white plus no pink color, when i go to settings and try change password whatever i do it says wrong password, i wish to see transparent status bar also or just like original material design 500 in app and 700 for status bar

Hi and thanks for trying out my application.
The Statusbar
It cannot be colored as in android L because you cannot mix android L with previous versions of android since its the developer preview (it's just that, a preview). So the only way to do this (for now) is by replicating the design and other effects to make them work in previous android versions where the coloring of statusbar obviously cannot be done.
I could however, make a separate app only for android L but imagine having to work with two apps at once.. Alone.
When they release the full thing this will be possible in the same app by declaring the sdk to L (or whatever it will be called).
Offline Mode
The offline mode is for when I have an online database to keep the notes. As of now its only local. When this is ready, you will be able to choose whether you want to keep your notes online or local.

I mean, I would love to have either folders or "labels" as Gmail does so that I can group notes and then would like to have a lock/unlock feature for each group/folder/label.
c) I would also think it would be nice if the online feature allowed th user to save the notes to ones own Gmail or Google Drive account or even maybe dropbox or box.
Design looks nice.

its can be done look on lg g3 kk stock when you enter any app status bar change color, and also with an xposed module can be done that on rom but i wont use xposed (art reason), for example look on app "pushbullet" awesome transparanecy on statusbar and navigation bar am just suggesting so you will do what you like

The google+ community should be working as its supposed to. For me both links work fine. Have you joined the community before you try to join the beta?
These are tags. The tags are like categories. I am working on a way to sort these by tags. In the meantime all they do is to show you what kind of note it is.
To be able to share the note is one of my primary goals. You should be able to save to a local textfile, send by email and save to drive. I have successfully added a file in drive with the name of the title but the part where the content fills the file is very hard.

I don't know how Keep works (I mean behind the scenes) so that might be difficult. Worth looking into though since alot of people are using Keep. Great tip.

Now I have got a real hard idea on my mind since a few days back......I wanted to create and set id3v2 and id3v1 tags for plain tag less mp3 file using Java libraries with tasker.......
I have been messing around wasting whole of my days looking for a solution.......here's what I have done so far.....
I have tried
mp3agic
I copied the code from the documentation and pasted it in Java scriptlet......took care of the errors and now the task runs for as long as the timeout allows and then the required mp3 doesn't change.....like as if the code got stuck......
Also tried
Jauditagger
And then
Myid3 for android
Also got help from this link

the 2nd pic code will format everything in the phone ...
so the idea is if someone force you to open your phone you give him the 2nd pin code witch will format the phone and delete all your personal information

See I download my music from a streaming service......it gives me mp3 but untagged.....I was easily able to get the tags from its database but how to set it to mp3....I am stuck.....I asked the dev of music tagger to make a tasker plugin......but since I couldn't wait......so I kept on looking for it......finally got stuck with all the libraries.....and nothing more is left in my mind.....I don't want to make any app.....I don't know Java....I just copy pasted the code from Documentations....and then edited the variables.....are u gonna work on it or not?

I read your request once again and I realized that this is not what you managed to get! To do what you want is needed Gravity Box! But Xposed doesn't work on 5.1, isn't it?!
First of all you have to download an app called Secure Settings. You can find this app on PlayStore -> Secure Settings on PlayStore
It Will Allows you to enable some not available features on Tasker (on Lollipop).
Once you have downloaded Secure Settings you have to create a simple task.. In this case "Mobile Data Toggle".
Open Tasker
Go inside the section of Task and create a new Task
Tap on + to add a new action and choose Plugin -> Secure Settings. This is what you will see

[*] Go back and choose an icon for the task. 1-

[*] Now the task is ready, what you have to do is to create a Widget that will trigger this task. Close Tasker (Going back until gets closed) and go on your home screen
[*] Make a long press on your home screen and select Tasker as Widget
as you can see there are two Widget - select the first one "Task"
[*] You will be asked to choose a specific task, select the one you have created
[*] Once you have selected the task that has to be performed go back until tasker gets closed - on your home screen you will see the new Widget (with a 1x1 dimension) click on it and Enjoy it!

See I download my music from a streaming service......it gives me mp3 but untagged.....I was easily able to get the tags from its database but how to set it to mp3....I am stuck.....I asked the dev of music tagger to make a tasker plugin......but since I couldn't wait......so I kept on looking for it......finally got stuck with all the libraries.....and nothing more is left in my mind.....I don't want to make any app.....I don't know Java....I just copy pasted the code from Documentations....and then edited the variables.....are u gonna work on it or not?

How to import and where to import XML file?

I've got an Olympus EP5 camera which can be controlled via wifi by an app called OIShare. I've also got very limited hand movement making pressiing the camera shutter button very difficult. Using Tasker and AutoVoice it's quite doable to say the magic trigger word and have the phone take a picture on the camera - if the screen is on.
Keeping the screen always on will suck through battery. Turning on/off the screen and loading app will create delays. Not good when out and about for hours looking to capture 'a moment' at quick notice.
I'd like to control the camera with the phones screen off. Clearly this can not be done by a tap command; the screen is blank. Is it possible though using 'Intent'?
If so, great but if not please let me know and put me out of my misery and save my hair .
