Just remember that you need to execute it within the file explorer of your XDA2.
Cheers!
Updates - I have removed the attachment as per rahjinoh's request. Use his direct link instead as it would contain the latest installation. =)

Hiya, don't worry, i dun mind you posting the file.
however i hope that you can remove it to avoid confusion, coz the link to download the application is a direct link, which i would update often so everyone can download the newest version from there, uploading it would result in multiple versions, harder to control
Anyway, i have edited my original post to a Direct Link to the file from my domain, so i suppose everyone can download it now?
Thanks everyone

Rahjinoh,
The message which I added last night didn't get send this morning.
Anyway, I was using beta version 0.2 and now I have uninstall it and using version 0.3.
I am retesting with a message dated 2004-11-02 18:38:38 now. Doesn't seems to be working. Is there some indication that tells me that the scheduled message is sent?
Perhaps a user guide is good?
Anyway, the standard beta user wish-list:
(a) Multiple receipents for same message
(b) Support for Extended SMS
(c) Support for MMS
(d) A bigger text box
(e) A more user-friendly date/time schedule selection
(f) Priority shifting. After sms is schedule, perhaps we can change the priority for those with identical timing?
(g) Re-editing of submitted SMS.
Cheers!

I can't replicate the problem of SMS not sending out (at least on v0.3BETA), i've scheduled 12 SMS in quickk successions of every 1 min and all 12 SMS got sent out (to myself  )
I will now schedule a SMS for the next day to see if it's any case of lagging concerns. (Shouldn't be a problem becoz i've scheduled SMS 1 week in advance before in my Alpha version, but i will look out for potential problems)
Right now, my current 0.4BETA-PENDING version will remove schedule of SENT SMSs. Meaning, if your SMS is sent out, it will no longer exists in the grid. If this kind of indication ok for you?
Thanks for your feedback.

0.4BETA - 03112004 Updated

Thanks for your feedback Application is based on .NET CF, so might be a memory hog, you using a XDA or XDAII? As app is build on a XDAII, it might be *not* too optimised for other makes of PPCPE. but i will look into it with a iPAQ6365 and see how it works. Sorry about that
As for contacts, it might just be in the next version, so long i dun receive any critical bug reports
Thanks!

No probs, I can live with the size, since I will close the program after sending my SMS. Look forward to the contacts addin.
Also what about standard phrases (i.e. meet me at...) just like in the standard app. Does your app. save the messages sent???? If not might be good to have an in/outbox

Will definately keep your recommendations in mind. In fact i'm planning features for my next release.
Thanks for the support

Hi!
Include the abilities to read incoming sms and stores them to storage card would be best, huh?

thanks for all your comments, however, this is only my free time project, i hold a full time job, thus i'm unable to commit totally into it, coz work have been very very busy. However, all your points have been noted and i will try to incorporate the features if possible.
Thanks for your support though

Change Left button on Today Screen (From email to SMS)

Hi,
Is it possible to change the Left button on today screen from e-mail to SMS?
Thanks in advance,
Saadi
Standard registry hack, check the wiki, or check Buzz's site for the soft key control panel app.
V
actually, vijay I venture to say that these are hardly standard!
Palm actually overlays the standard soft-keys with their own via the screen dial plugin .dlls (I forgot their exact name): it's the same plugin for operator/bt, dial lookup, etc, they are all tied together.
So, if you were to do that standard reg trick you would only change what is underneath and in fact, you won't even find the registry entries for the softkeys if you look.
My mistake, I didn't pay attention to the Cheetah/Treo forum!
I'll leave the question open for a while for someone else to respond to.
If it doesn't happen, I'll have a look into it. I'm working on some other OS hacks right now...

I'm 99% sure no one has looked at it or rather anyone with any real skills (myself, definitely excluded form this camp, lol), so if you want to lend your expertise to figuring this one out, it'd be welcomed.
I've seen this request numerous times on other boards, so I know it's a popular request.
Case in point, your VJSlippyPalm is a fanatastic replacement for the "Messaging" button but alas for now, I have to use AEB+ to assign it to a different hard key.
I can say that this OS has some very interesting and strange registry changes from "typical" WM5 devices. In that sense it's kind of fun to work on ;-)
Can someone post a screenshot of the softkeys in action, or list what kind of things they say, so I can find out how they're created.
I hope VJSlippyPalm is useful, first bit of code I've released in a long time, but it seemed useful! AE+ is no bad thing, the coder is a great guy.

VJSlippyPalm is very useful.
In fact, if we ever get threaded SMS fully working on the 700wx, I and others are sure to use it!

If it's the app that says "ignore with text message" or whatever on incoming calls, it's the file *PhoneCanvas*.dll (I can't remember the full filename, but it's obvious).

I highly doubt this works as we don't have these reg values!
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys]
That's the point I'm trying to make--this isn't your regular WM5.

Right, I think it might also involve activecallplugin.dll and diallookupplugin.dll, at least those are the ones that involve the Green button/call history, Carrier logo, some phone functions and I believe involve the Soft Key overlays.
The "ignore with text message" I think is only invoked during a phone call, but the above are used normally.

Well I guess the thread asked how to change the left button asignment and that is what this does and leaves you the Email option when you press it too. It also gives the option of SMS or MMS . I like it ) You are correct in it not being able to change the right one though.

Think 750v's left softkey kind of "locked" to email.
Lets said if u used saman WM5 new menu, and renamed the button to "SMS". And also lots of shortcuts. The left softkey will changed the "SMS". But when u pressed. It will still show something as below. THe WM5 New menu will only comes out when u select the SMS.
the only hack which really works is AEButton, but u will lost the left softkey func in other event.....

phonecanvasplugin.dll appears to only control the layout of the phone app itself. I tried it and it doesnt include the ignore with sms option. it just changed the phone app by adding the talk button and changed the hold to talk also.

activecallplugin.dll and diallookupplugin.dll these to appear to have no control over the phone app itself and are today plugins leaving me to think that thats all the control is the today contact lookup and well I havent a clue what the activecallplugin does because it didnt appear to change anything on my apache. btw phonecanvasplugin appears to control the carrier logo in the phone app itself because there was little changes in the Sprint PCS on my phone. Notice the difference in the size of the Sprint PCS at the top, its bigger on the Treos. (see the screenies....First two are the standard apache dialer app, last two are the treos dialer app)
I have been looking to get the ignore with sms for awhile and still cannot seem to find the extact file/s that control it and apparently they also control how the context menus work.
~Mike
Did you try a hex search through the dll I mentioned?
There must have been a reason I mentioned it - I don't think it's in the dll itself, but in a mui.
I can think of a way to heavily hack the dll to make it do what you need, but it wouldn't be pretty, so I'll leave it as an open question for now.

TextHer - P2P serverless messaging app for Android

Today I am launching TextHer app which enables users of android phone to communicate privately and securely between them.
TextHer
It is a peer to peer (serverless) messaging app where the messages are directly sent from one phone to another without being routed through or stored on any servers.Messages will be not be routed through carrier's server instead it will be directly sent from one phone to another using data connection.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spacenext.texther
Sending a message:
To send a message to another phone just type the primary gmail address of the phone, type your message and send it.
For example my phone's primary account is [email protected],Just type the mail address or just the account name(ramanean) and send a message
Features
1.No Registration is required and Free unlimited messages.
2.Secure/Instant communication between any two individuals
3.Instant Delivery of messages (unless the other phone doesn't have a working data connection)
4.Messages are not stored on any servers.they are stored only on your phones.
5."Background Send" option which allows a delivery of messages incase of a failure.
6.Messages are encrypted by AES standards
This app would make it difficult for law enforcement and spy agencies to track what is being communicated between two phones as the messages sent are encrypted by a standard AES algorithm and the messages are not stored on any server. It allows secure communication between two phones without the fear of being tracked for their messages.
Serverless:
It's not entirely serverless as we store the ips on our server and give it to the clients which enables phones to connect with each other. And I have plans to come out with another version which would never involve a server.
I hope I would get a constructive review on your site. Please let me know whether you need any extra information

a) This app won't be available in certain countries in the Middle East and south East Asia!
b) There is too much of snooping around and that's why I have come out with this app
c) On other hand it would help organizations like Occupy Wall Street and people in their protests. It would great help in free speech
MY answer to others who question my app!
Why do you need a intermediate person to message/communicate your loved one? Whether we use a third person to communicate with our loved ones inside our house? The answer is No.. and that is the reason I have come out with this app.
Okay here's what I discovered after a bit of goofing around:
1) You use app for a few minutes and it is impossible to get out. Pressing back keeps bringing you back to previous screen. In a loop.
2) I tried messaging myself. Didn't work.
3) I tried messaging on ramaean. App not installed
4) When I tried messaging to shangce, it force-closed on me.
5) You need to have a more consistent UI. You have used all the colors in rainbow
I don't want to come off as a ****, but if someone wanted to use an app for truly private communication I think they should be asking the following questions:
Could you describe in detail what happens to the text from the time you press Send to when the recipient's phone beeps?
How do we know your servers aren't logging our messages?
Why should we use your app instead of an encryption app?
Please don't take this as an insult to your app or hard work, but they are legitimate concerns for any security related app. I would be much more comfortable if there was an encryption feature.
You got some of the points wrong
a)My mail ID is [email protected] and not "ramnean" (use ramanean)
b)You can click on the home button in the bottom help menu to come out
c)I won't reveal from my that mail address "shangce"
d)I don't know which provider you are using.l
This app will not work if the phone has internal IP's!!
UI :
I need to work a big on UI As I always choose colors wrong

Ok, so is this still a "NO" for us in the Middle East? Will you post the apk file here or will I have to wait till I get back to India later this month to download it?
Is there some reasoning for barring people based on location? Am pretty sure that:
a) A terrorist is neither in our midst nor that one would be wandering around in the xda forums looking for something they could use.
b) If they are aware of a software such as this they could always get one of their partners in crime to download it from an off site location and mail it to them.
Hope that you will post it here.

Remember that the app works only for external ip's it doesn't work for natted ip's (I am trying to fix it)
Send a message to yourself to see that whether it works for you! If you didn't get your own message then it won't work for you as you may on a natted/internal IP
Nice idea, flawed execution. No functionality in any of my tests. Currently attempt to use Redact instead.

Hopefully this is okay to post in this section. Although this app is payed for on the Android Market I am offering it to the XDA community for free.
SMS2PC is a small app that runs in the background on Windows, Mac and Linux and allows you to send/receive messages via your Android phone. This, at the time of release, was the first SMS sending app for Android. There are now lots of alternatives but I think my app still has the polish and desktop integration (you don't need to keep browser open) that some people prefer.
You can download the APK attached, copy over through USB etc.
To download the desktop client, visit: w w w .geekyscott. com / sms2pc/ (sorry i cant post links....)
I hope you will all enjoy the app. Please don't post it on other websites as I would like this to be an XDA-exclusive thing. In a few months when I get the time to clean my source, I will upload the source for everyone to use/extend.
Features:
Auto PC location (no need to enter IP address on WIFI)
Forwards SMS from mobile phone to desktop (osx, windows or linux(beta))
Multi-send messages from desktop

Thanks for being a great community.

It can link to your computer via USB, WiFi or Cell. Cell isn't recommended unless you have a good quality 3G network. It will be able to send a message as long as you have the smallest connection to your cell tower. I for example, leave my phone in an area in my flat I get signal (near the window) and use my laptop to send receive deep in my living room where normally I am in a black spot.
So wait. This application will install on my PC, connect to my Android phone, and allow me to send SMS text messages to my phone contacts on my PC? I tried airdriod for that but I had to refresh in order to see new messages. Which was an inconvenience. If this is the case with this app, will it work in real time?

thank you very much for this. may i ask for another feature?
i'm using a dual sim phone so would it be possible to have an option to choose from which simcard to send an sms in the sms2pc desktop client?
is it possible to make whatsapp / facebook messenger to work like this as well?

At this time there is no support for these messengers... but there is a possibility to make this happens. It really depends if the support 3rd party API's or if they have a simple database I can hook into. But sending may be a problem. Ill have a look.

If the Android API supports switching between dual sim then I will be able to implement this. I will have a look in the next few days.
Hi friend.. I think there is a problem between your program and Cerbelus. This morning I have been testing sending messages. Later, i´seen seen my phone communication has stopped working and then i have had to reset my device because was hanged. After reset and phone communications right i´ve received a message from Cerbelus with an alert message due SIM change. Now my Samsung SII works ok again but i turned off SMS2PC. Very strange. Can there be a conflict??

I am not sure why there would be a problem. I am using standard API's and Android design guidelines. I believe you are my first using using this Cerbelus software. If you could send me your logcat at the time of the problem I may be able to provide a fix for you.

Sorry this is a bug I will fix at the weekend.
Wow looks great, i will have a play with this at the weekend.
I like how you can use it over 3g too, thats a big plus for me, could even use it over USB at work too!
Thanks for sharing this with us! :good:
You are a nice philanthropist! THANKS
:laugh:Man I am new to the XDA community but It seems that it's not everyday that a developer freely gives his paid app for the rest of the community. I already installed it and it seems to work quite fine.
Thanks a lot. Success man.
Wow
Great to see some apps with Lateral thinking.
I think it would be a great enabler for other apps in future.
Once again THANKS!!!
And great work!!!:good::good::good:
Awesome...
And thank you - I had been playing around some similar apps, but none really "fit the bill" for what I was looking for.
This looks to be exactly what I wanted, however - I'm having an issue with the connection over USB, I have it in debug mode and it's connected direct to the laptop, but times out at 12 seconds each time.
Can't test it over wifi because it's restricted from use in this environment, but will try it from home later today.
I suspect it will work just fine once I get it to the house, but it would be infinitely more useful here at the office...
Also, curious as to whether there might be some incompatibilities with one, or both of the OS's I'm using: Windows 8 Consumer Preview on the laptop and Ice Cold Sandwich 4.04 ICS on an Inspire 4G.

[APP][2.3+] FastFileTransfer 2.0 - Fast, Offline File Exchange Between Any Platforms

FastFileTransfer has a simple mission: Offering fast, offline file exchange between literally any platforms.
The app works via Wifi, allowing for speeds of more than 40 Mbit/s, which means e.g. 1 Gigabyte in under 4 minutes.
FastFileTransfer does not require the second device to install anything, allowing for transfers from or to any other platform.
I'm proud to announce the release of Version 2.0!
The original version of FastFileTransfer was released back in 2012. It reached nearly 900.000 downloads, but even cooler: It was featured on the XDA Start Page back in 2013, which I'm still very thankful for!
FastFileTransfer 2.0 is a complete rewrite that took me 11 months of spare time development. I've written a whole new transfer engine (now even faster!), new User Interface and created a new Icon. There are tons of new features, and here is a list of all of them:
Features:
Lightning fast: Transfer 1 GB in under 4 minutes
Send multiple files or even whole folders (as ZIP)
Easy to follow step-by-step instructions
Receive from any device and operating system that supports WiFi
No need for an existing WiFi connection
Works completely offline
The receiver does not have to have the app installed
Send multiple files as ZIP
Display QR codes for faster receiving
Optionally use NFC for pairing
Unique engine specifically developed for compatibility against a wide range of Android devices
Send to an unlimited number of devices at the same time
New in Version 2.0:
New transfer engine
New UI
New Icon
Now supports sending via Wifi Direct or an existing Wifi Connection
Send multiple files as ZIP
Continues sending from background
New super secure mode
Send files from different folders
Send whole folders
More progress details
Now translated to German, Spanish (thanks @josuearisty!!), French, Turkish, Italian
Support for Android 5.0 Lollipop
Pro Version with additional features
Buy the Pro Version ($1.99) to:
Receive files from devices that don't have FFT installed
Let receivers download multiple files with one click (unzipped)
Get rid of the ads

Cool, thanks! Let me know how you like it!
So here are my finding with FFT v2.0
01) Very good UI. Great speed and ease of use once you get the hang of it. Kudos to the hard work put up by the developer. Well worth the wait of all these months. :good:
Bugs/Quirks:
02) Instructions tab: The tab heading "Instructions" is not fully visible. I can only see till "Instructio". The rest gets clipped for some reason.
03) Instructions tab: The "Sending" section shows me the same instructions on selecting any of the 3 points. Confusing!
04) Instructions tab: The "Sending/Receiving" section does not give me any instructions on selecting any of them. Is it supposed to?
05) Sending tab: The best thing is that I can select multiple files and folders from ANYWHERE in the memory. The select files dialogue can use some spit polish. When removing a file, the "minus" sign gets lost within the file name.
06) Sending tab: I open the select files dialogue box. Press the back button. Now I can no longer get the select files dialogue box.
07) Sending tab: Is it necessary to show open file dialogue when a file is selected? I am not sure of this. Developer knows better.
08) Sending tab: After selecting all the files, I came to step 1. I didn't realize for a few minutes that I can scroll down and see step 2. Let there be some visual indicator so that the user knows it can scroll down/up.
09) Sending tab: I wanted to cancel the sharing of files. There is no stop or cancel button. (I can provide some UI mockup to integrate #05 and #09)
10) Sending tab: Please display speed in MB instead of Mb. Or gives us an option for the same.
11) Other: FFT can generate QR codes for links. Can you also integrate a QR code reader somewhere within the app (probably the "Receive" tab)? Other devices with FFT can then receive files more easily using the built-in reader.
12) Other: Instructions, Sending tabs: Ads at the bottom. Files tab: Ads at the top. Design inconsistency
The update is HUGE and hence there will surely be some bugs here and there. Though the dev is not under any obligation to fix them, these are just points that would make FFT better than before. I am still testing the app and will let you know if I face any more issues.
Once again, congratulations on the marvelous update. :highfive:

Sure: It's like the opposite of the sending mode that is available in the free version:
You start a receiving session inside FFT
The other device without FFT installed connects to the wifi and navigates to the website as instructed within FFT
Now, instead of getting a list of receivable files, the other device is offered with a form that allows to choose local files (files that are on the other device)
The other device has then to click a Send button, which starts the transfer
FFT displays the same progress information as when sending
All received files are available in the Files tab within the app
You're just 1.99$ away from trying it yourself

Damn, I just purchased an app that does a very similar thing - although that app's UI is not exactly the best size to be used on a phone :/
1. Is your webform designed to be used/viewed on phones as well as tablets/PCs?
2. Does your app support sending multiple files and/or entire folders (including maintaining the directory structure) from a phone without FFT installed (via the webform/UI) to the FFT recipient?
Cheers for the quick reply.

I had a thought about a way to send an entire directory (and subs), taking into account the android file browser limitation:
Suggestion: A special 'Send Directory' button specifically for phones. (perhaps this button would detect when a phone/tablet was being used versus a normal PC.)
This button would request a single file to be nominated (just like in single file mode) except that it would truncate the target file's 'URL/ sdcard-path' and send all files (including the directory that the file was located in and all subs of that directory).
Is that possible?
Also, do you plan on releasing a dark theme?
Thanks again

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
It should be supported, we don't restrict any devices.
Can you elaborate how it is not supported? Does it show up in Play Store or does it simply not mirror your notifications?
If you could provide us with some more info, we would like to see if we can resolve the issue.
The only restrictions the app has is it needs to have a Google account on the phone and Play Services.
We hope to hear from you.
Thanks.

Hi
Thanks for your question.
Right of the bat the difference with Bridge is that it's less than half the price.
Bridge also has an non-cluttered UI so you'll be up and running in minutes.
Also it's very battery & resource friendly.
In fact it uses so little battery that it doesn't even show up on my list of apps using battery under Android settings.
Bridge used 0.12 mAh on my phone, which is insignificant.
I've attached a screenshot so you can see for yourself.
Our mirrored notifications are also custom designed which gives you an easy overview.
Even if you have more notifications in your statusbar, than Android itself can show, our custom design lets you see all of them, thus bypassing the restriction other similar apps have.
And of course it has the usual option to Whitelist apps, get notified when one of your devices is charged and so on.
You can try it and let us know what you think

Ok, solved: for some reason my device wasn't listed in the playstore so the app was showing as not compatible.
Will you plan to give any discount for the upcoming black friday?
I've installed on 3 devices and I have select the app that I want the notifications from in the whitelist but I keep receiving notifications from every app.
There is a way to make a device just ricive notifications from the others and not send it?

Hi
You have to only select the devices you want to receive mirrored notifications on.
This means if you only want to receive it on one device, only select that device under the main screen.
If you look at the attached screenshot as an example, only "Personal Phone" will receive mirrored notification.
The other two devices will be ignored.'
Hope this helps, if not don't hesitate to write back.

Sorry but it's not clear to me, if I want to receive the phone notifications on my other 2 devices (tablet and android car audio) but I don't want to receive any notifications on my phone from the other 2, is that possible?
The apps selected on the withe list are the one able to send the notifications?

Yes it is possible.
You will have to only check your tablet and car audio in the main screen of Bridge (the start screen when you open Bridge).
You phone must not be checked.
So only two devices must be selected.
If you have selected no apps under Whitelist, all apps will send notifications.
If you check one of more apps, only the selected apps will send notifications.
Hope this helps
